National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC Slow to invoice...

Did you already complete the DS-261 (Choice of Agent)?

The reason we got the Immigrant Visa Fee invoice so fast is we filed the DS-261 last weekend even before we got he AOS invoice.  After we get the case and invoice numbers from the agent on Friday night we attempted to log in.  We were able to file the DS-261 for my father-in-law on Friday night and was getting an error message for my mother-in-law application.  My wife called NVC again, waited on hold for 30 minutes and then flipped on the agent because only one of the cases had the DS-261 available.  The agent said that the DS-261 shouldn't even be available at this time because it doesn't become available until the AOS is invoiced.    I tried logging in again to file the DS-261 for my mother-in-law on Saturday and it worked.  Well there screw up resulted in us getting the AOS and IV invoiced in the same day.

Yes, we got our NVC numbers on Wednesday April 29 and on Friday May 2 our DS-261 was available and we filled it out and submitted it.  It felt like it took FOREVER for the AOS fee to become available but yesterday afternoon I got the email that it was ready to be pad and I paid it.  I got an email at midnight indicating the DS-261 was ready to be filled out...hmmm...i did that DAYS ago! Theyre all screwed up.  Im waiting for the the AOS to be marked paid so I can submit out package. I am not expecting the IV invoice until after the AOS package is processed, is that correct?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC Slow to invoice...

The case numbers were assigned on March 28.  We got the case numbers by phone on Friday night.  We were able to submit the DS-261 (Choice of Agent) over the weekend.  I received emails (my wife gave my email address because I check frequently) today that the AOS invoice is ready.  I just now received emails that the immigrant visa fee invoice is ready, but I can't pay it online.

Here is a question to the group:  I just received the immigrant visa fee invoice in the last 10 minutes.  Could it take a day or two for it to be available to pay online?

March 28th or April 28?

My case was assigned a number over a week and they have yet to invoice me. Other timelines indicate about 4 days from getting a case number to getting invoiced.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)IV Package question

I am trying to assemble my IV package and am not sure if I should be submitting my husbands Birth Certificate, Which has very little info on it (name, date of birth, mother and fathers name, place of birth) or I should submit the certificate of the act of birth which has much more info on it (hospital born ect...) but it is not actually a birth certificate.  Help!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Another DS-260 question

It askes for all my husbands previous addresses, he had an apartment lease in his name for a friend but never actually lived there. should that be included or should he only list places he actually inhabited?

Thanks!

1. Are they asking if you have your shot record when they ask "Do you have documentation that you have received vaccinations in accordance with US law"?

2. If you do not have a shot record do you say no to this question, and will that create a problem or a checklist?

3. Do you need to produce a shot record at your medical exam? MY husband doesn't have one and doesn't know where you are supposed to get one from.

4. If he can not get his shot record and it is needed during the medical exam, does he have to got all of these shots again at the time of the exam?

Sorry, lots of questions, any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)2013 Taxes

Did you fill out your Affidavit of Support?  I know that when I filled mine out you needed to have your 2013 Tax Information and a copy of your tax return.  This is at NVC stage.

yes but the AOS is my (the petitioner) income not his(the beneficiary) .

My husband and I are in the final stages at the NVC, waiting on case complete and interview in Montreal.  My husband has not filed his 2013 taxes yet, will this cause a problem of any kind for us?  I can get on his butt to file if need be but dont want to nag unnecessarily. I dont want to be THAT wife

The DS-260 requires day, month and year.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)another NVC beginner question

You need to enroll in order to be able to submit your AOS and IV packets by email. I would suggest you do this ASAP because it takes a month for them to get to your email and process your request.  You will want yourself enrolled before it is time to submit your packages to lessen your wait time.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Checklist processing times

I had to resubmit my I-864 due to receiving a checklist for not marking whether i serve in the military. Do they take 30 busniess days to review these like they do other emails?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Minor typo on AoS, another 60 days?

Nooooooooooo! I thought, "I don't remember that question..." and looked at my I-864 (and my co-sponsors) and my heart sank into my stomach.

Do you have any advice about sending off a corrected form now with a cover letter and cover sheet explaining the situation? Or should I just wait to hear from NVC? If I missed that, there is a chance that I made other mistakes and I don't want to inundate them with more I-864s to cause more confusion.

Thanks in advance!

SUBMIT!! DO NOT WAIT!!! Co sponsor doesn't matter but it HAS to be checked on your form. If you have anything else in queue then all your forms should be reviewed at the same time so you wont have to wait the 60 days IF you already have something waiting to be reviewed.

I wish it worked that way, i got a checklist because I forgot to check the box that  am not in the military on my i-864.  I submitted the corrected form 6 weeks ago...still waiting for review... :clock:

I got checklist on August 7 and I send what they need on August 15 in there system so I have to wait 60 day too or checklist ppl will be faster??

Checklists also take 60 days im afraid.  I responded to my checklist July 10th and it got reviewed September 3rd.

Visa in hand will be just over 12 months for us.  I agree the wait sucks but its a wait we all have to endure. OP you have only been at the NVC for 7 weeks, I was there for over 5 months and I waited it out.  You have a while to go before they are going to take your letter writing campaign seriously. Good luck to everyone at the NVC, I wish you all the best and hope the DOS makes the changes needed to speed up the process.

You can send complaint letters to the NVC but it will take at least 60 days for them to be read!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC RFE- financial documents

Well.... I guess it depends on which side of the bed the reviewer wakes up :) ...

BTW : any special instructions to send the document ? Thanks !

I just sent it to the NVCelectronic email with the subject  MTL2014****** letter of employment requested by checklist. All the usual beneficiary and petitioner info in the body and a short description of what was attached to the email.  Had no problems...

Good luck to you!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC RFE- financial documents

Send your requested document as soon as possible.  I sent mine the day the NVC rep told me I would be getting a checklist. The sooner the better to lessen your 60 day wait time.

And I did not ever submit a letter of employment...and was not RFEed for one...

Hi,

My AOS fee just turned from Paid to N/A  *BUT* my IV Fee still says "PAID"  Does that still mean my case is likely complete?

did you guys have BOTH AOS and IV fee turn to "N/A" or only the AOS fee turn to "N/A"  when case completes?

Thanks!!

Only one of mine changed.  CONGRATS!!!

I submitted a checklist response for Electronic Processing (EP) on July 10th.  I finally today (after 156 days at the NVC!!) got my case complete. My 60 days would have been up on Monday so they are running just under the reported 60 day processing dates.

Same here, responded to a checklist and they scanned it Aug 24, but its only one paper (I-864A) hoping its not as long for checklists...

Sorry to say but checklist responses also follow the 60 day time frame.  I sent my checklist response on July 10 and still havent been reviewed.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)CR1 - NVC Delay - Just got this email from NVC

I spoke with a rep last night who informed me of this 60 day processing time.  What she told me was that with their back log they had to extend the processing time from 30 business days (45 total days)  to 60 TOTAL days (not 60 business days) . She said they were doing away with the whole 30 business days time frame because it was causing confusion.  So while yes, it will take longer to process our application they are actually only adding 2 weeks to the process not a whole month like it sounds

You should get the US standard size, BUT we sent the canadian size and it wasnt refused. Interview will probably need US dimensions.

CanadaNew here! interview Question

Aprox. 7 weeks after your case is completed you should be interviewing. (1 week for NVC to get interview scheduled and then a 6 weeks wait for appointment)

Sarah&MarcFemaleCanada2014-09-13 10:30:00
CanadaNew here! interview Question

Interviews are being scheduled about a week after case complete. The Montreal consulate has about a 6 week wait for interviews.  So you're looking at interview date about 7 weeks after CC.

CanadaHotels suggestions in Montreal

We stayed at the Days Inn this past May. It's actually pretty nice and the employees were very friendly. They were very flexible with check out times after we had told them our situation about having our interview. Our interview was early enough to come back, have breakfast (at their restaurant in the hotel which was great!) and check out. It was about a 15 minute walk.

Good luck!

http://www.expedia.c...dma-wave857502

Also, this is one of the few that do not have any weird extra fees. And there is a parking garage that they share with (I believe Holiday Inn) that was $20...which was pretty safe and you don't have to go searching for a space on the street...and free wifi.

Too funny Cunuck waiting - I was just planning to post this very question today!

I've been researching lots, since I have to travel from BC (total pain, don't understand why they can't do IR-1's in Vancouver, honestly!) and am trying to watch my pennies.

So far in terms of location the Days Inn and the Travelodge seem to be reasonably priced and within a short walking distance. I'll be by myself, so don't need anything too romantic or fancy, sadly!

Would love to hear some other experiences and places - I know there's some within the consulate reviews, but couldn't hurt to have a separate thread!

Peace all.

:)

I got married in Montreal a year ago.  My parents, children and 3 friends traveled from Texas to be a part of the wedding. They all stayed at the Days Inn as well.  It was clean, convenient and fairly inexpensive. No bells or whistles but I would definitely recommend this hotel.

CanadaFlights from Canada to the US, a weird pricing thing...

Cant you just let your luggage fly the rest of the way to Austin and then pick it up at the airport when you get in from Houston?

I mean in San Antonio I pick up my husband at the luggage carousel...not sure how ATX is...

Good luck to you guys as well! what time did you get yours? I am still trying to figure out when to go over lol

Ours is at 9. My husband isn't exactly an early bird and since we will be taking an hour long metro ride to the interview we will probably get there around 8:30.  I am a Texas girl and don't really want to stand in the near freezing temps for an hour if I don't have to! It seems like the wait time isn't too bad if you get there at your interview time. In and out in a couple hours.  What time is your interview? Do you or your husband live in the Montreal area?  If not when are you flying in and where are you staying?
