IndiaInterview Expereince on 20th Nov2012

I woke up at 4:30am and was out of the house with my children by 5:15 to take local train to Bandra. I reached at consulate at 6:30, saw many ppl standing..I was still relaxed as my children kept me busy with their question's...

Security guard asked every one to make 2 lines checking interview letter..One for Immigrant and other Non immigrant visa..Sharp 7:20am i enter the gate for screening..They give one tray box to keep all ur belonging's in it including ur wrist watch..and then do screening for us too..Collected my belonging from tray and headed to waiting area for immigrant visa.. There they line up for to give token number on ur interview letter..I got my token and sat at waiting area..After 10 mintues that shud be 8:10am the indian officer called me..It was a lady..She asked me..

1. Who is petitioner?
2. Give me ur medical and P.C.C..

she asked me to wait for the next around of interview..

I waited, waited n waited n waited....was getting fed up when i saw all were moving out wid happy faces and few dissappointed ones..

Anyways i was called at 12:20noon..I was second last there..

I was called by American Lady, very smart and mine was like rapid fire question.....I knew that i had to be very honest to it, bcoz if u are honest, then u are confident...

14. Which year he got married?

she was giving me my passport back asking me for PCC from U.A.E to be done, i answered her immediately that i lef that country for good 6years before..Then she was ok wit it..

14. So can u prove me that his marriage got terminated? I showed all the documents..
15..She said ur interview seems ok but, all i need is copy of divorce from the civil court so i give u ur passport back and ....In mean time i told her sorry madam can i interven u for a minute she said yes...I again removed documents and told her this is divorce copy from the high court..she said ok, sorry i over looked it..This shud be good enough..

She asked me to sit and called my elder daughter 11 to question..

1. DO u know ur parents anniversary date?
2. How do u communicate with ur father?
3. Do u miss him?
4. Does he visit u very often?
5. Do u know where ur father stays?

While seeing pic, she asked my younger daughter 8yrs..is this you or ur elder sister? Is ur father carrying you or ur elder sis? (Those pic were when they were toddler)...

Then she smiled and said to my daughter call ur mother, The lady replied me ok...ur interview has been good to the honest..u will get ur passport in one week time with visa..I said thank you and hve a nice day...

Then end....

Hope this will help for some similar to my case....Be really honest and stick to ur answer given bcoz they ask u same question in 3 different way...to judge whether ur answer differ's all the time..

IndiaPIO or OCI card for USC child born to NRI parent
I have following queries and can someone help me on the following points:- Sorry for spelling error one of the alphabet is not working on my keyboard using alphabet 'S' to replace it

01.  I am a Naturalised USA Citisen and holding a USA Passport since 2006.

02.  I have a minor daughter 13 years old born in India and holding a Green Card since March 21, 2013.
03.  My minor daughter came to USA on IR2 visa and got her green card in USA in March 2013 and
she stayed with me in USA for 70 days and now she came back to India to continue her studies.
04.   I am given to understand since my daughter is minor in age and having a green card she automatically
becomes USA citisen based on my USA status as the Father is a Naturalised USA citisen inspite of
my daughter born in India prior to me i.e. Father becoming USA citisen after her birth.

My daughter born in India in 2001 when the father was not USA citisen and holding green card
Father became USA Naturalised Citisen on December 2006 and holding USA Passport after the birth of Minor child.

05.   My question now is can the Father apply for USA Passport in USA Consulate in Mumbai for the minor child of
13 years holding Green card and presently staying and studying in Mumbai based on the status of the Father
since Mother is Indian Passport holder but having greencard.  The child does not have Certificate of Citienship/Naturalisation as yet.

Is this child eligible to apply for USA Passport based on Father USA Citisenship in USA Consulate in Mumbai India
in presence of Mother and Father.
It will be appreciated if some help and guidance is given to me how to proceed with this case.

Indiahow to surrender Indian passport to Indian embassy

Thanx for responding flora.

My children got greencard based on father's who is citizen of U.S. We entered U.S on IR1 visa and got greencard. Kids become automatically U.S citizen based aupon father. Mother is on greencard. That's how they got their U.S passport and now we have to surrender Indian Passport and get Indian visa or OCI. Got to know that CKGS that is Cox & kings global services has taken charge of handling indian visa/pio/oci etc..Bsl is quitting. Thanks for response i got the available information on CKGS website n spoke to customer service.

Indiahow to surrender Indian passport to Indian embassy

Your first question is not clear.

Your minor girls came to US with indian passport while parents were on green card ,then later you say that you are naturalized citizen of US then how are you still on green card, don't you have US passport.

If your girls came on US passport its not legal to hold indian passport.

Its written clearly on indian passport that once you acquire other nationality its illegal to hold Indian passport, you need to surrender it.Its not legal to travel on Indian passport anymore, open passport and read the instructions carefully ,its clearly mentioned there.

You still have 1 month before going back, its better for everyone to surrender it right now instead of paying fine of big amount later on.

I am not sure about applying OCI while in india.

but for applying OCI too you need to surrender indian passport first.

better to go to BLS website and search for answers.

Indiahow to surrender Indian passport to Indian embassy

Please need immediate guidance, sorry i don't know how to post...Hope some one here assist me..

Please advice on the following points urgently:-

01.  My minor girls aged 10 and 13 travelled from India to USA on 15th May 2014 along with their

       Parents on Green Card.

02.   We have a returned ticket to India for travel on 12th June 2014 so that  both of them can

go to school in India on 16th June 2014.

03.    Based on their Fathers Naturalized Certificate (USA Citizen) both the Girls have got their

USA Passport issued to them on 10th May 2014.  They are still holding Green card and

          valid Indian Passport.

04.     Both the girls didn't apply for Certificate of Naturalization as yet, but will do so before

           they turn 14 years old.

05.      Since we don't have enough time to surrender Indian Passport and get multiple entry visa to

travel to India on USA Passport since this process takes about 3 to 4 weeks as we will miss

            our travel dates to India.

06.      Can we travel back to India with Indian Passport and Green Card and once in India complete

formalities to surrender Indian Passport and get multiple entry visa for 2 years on USA Passport

with Foreigners Registration office in India and at the same time apply for OCI while staying in

            India.

07.        To get renunciation certificate after surrendering Indian Passport and get multiple entry visa

on USA passport in USA takes about 3 to 4 weeks and we cannot take a chance to loose

our return paid ticket to India to wait here to complete the paper work and be late to school.

08.        Hence decided to travel back to India on Indian Passport.  Will this create problems for us in

India.  I believe 3 months grace period is given to surrender Indian Passport once a Foreign

Citienship holding USA Passport without any penalty fees or fines.

Please advise me in details with all the points and with clear picture what can be done in this case.

Thanking the team in Advance, i had much help earlier from this team to help me with my interview process.ad

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-600

Hi Langa,

I have a question for my minor daughter age just turned 10 n 13 years old May 2014. THey have got their U.S passport and Passport card recently and we are have applied for renunciation of Indian passport and applied for Indian entry visa. My question is that now i am going to apply for naturalisation certificate for my both the daughters in U.S before going India on urgent basis. Will my daughters will be called personally for interview in U.S? Also my daughters will take up their school in India for some years. Will that affect for naturalisation process? Please guide me. Since i am planning to do the paper work for them now or sooner until i get clarifications for not falling in trouble. Any one who know the new processing way in 2014. Thanks Langa you tread gave me reply to many of my questions but do you know the latest update of the situation.

Ok so my daughter's who is 14 years old had her N-600 interview on March 22, 2011. I sent the application February 5, 2011 to the USCIS local office.

I am posting this just incase there is someone out there who is curious about the process.

Well this is how it went. We were in the lobby then the IO came out and called out my daughter's name after about 10 minutes of waiting and then of course as her mom I was allowed to be with her. The IO asked my daughter her name and went through the whole application and made a comment that I had provided a complete application therefore he did not require much from her/us. The IO then asked for my daughter's passport and greencard which I handed to him. He went through the all the pages of the application, asking my daughter to confirm her name, date of birth, what school she attends, who does she live with (interesting), asked her to confirm our home address and her age. He also asked if she was married or single, I was shocked by that question and asked him why they ask that. Hesaid they are required to ask it because some kids 16 or 17 years old are married and if they happen to be married then N-600 process cannot go forward. I didn't bother to ask how then do they get their proof of citizenship. Anyway my daughter answered the question politely. He went through all the support documents I sent in with the file. After that he then asked my daughter to sign her 2 pictures that we sent with the application then he gave my daughter a printed paper with the Pledge of Alligiance to read and understand before he administers the aoth and said that we should go and wait in the lobby whilst they process the certificate. We waited for about 15 minutes and then we were called back in his office. He asked my daughter to stand up (funny I stood up too then he told me to sit down as I had already taken the oath). So my daughter was sworn in and then my daughter had to sign a few documents including her Citizenship Certificate. I asked if I it was okay with him to take pictures and he said it was fine, so I took some lovely pictures and he also took pictures of me and my daughter in his office (holding the flag of course) and it was over.....phew!

All I can say to those contemplating on sending their N-600 applications for their kids, I say do it now. Laws change everyday. Having the certificate makes life easier for you and your child and when you do it soon after you naturalize you don't have to worry about it later on in the future. You don't really want your child getting married etc and then that complicates the process. The IO also told me that before 2001 a child could not become a US Citizen unless both parents (even divorced) were US Citizens (interesting). So Congress changed the law in 2001. I'm glad the law changed because it would have definitely affected my child.

I can't tell you all how glad I am that this process is over. I'm done...yeah!! All I need to do now is apply for our passports.

Thank you all lovely people for your help and I hope I can give back what you all have give me. Stay Blessed!!
