National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC phone number

I was receiving the same thing earlier. However, I would hang up and redial the number again as soon as I hung up. After about 5 attepts it finally went through. They may be dealing with an overload of calls today since they were closed yesterday.  I only had to wait on hold though maybe 20 mins which was not bad.  Anyway, keep trying! content.gif

Oh & yes, the # is correct! good.gif

Thank you!! :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCEAC status "Refused"
My husband is supposed to have his interview last Feb 10, 2014 but since he failed the medical exam he wasn't able to come to the interview. He's under a Directly Observe Treatment in St. Lukes since Feb 4 (Class A TB was found shortly after his initial medical exam). He was advised by St. Lukes that they are the ones who will get a hold with US embassy in Manila regarding the cancellation and rescheduling of his interview when he finishes his treatment that will take 8 months. But few minutes ago, when I checked his status it changed from Ready to Refused.I dont know what this means. :(

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSt. Lukes DOT
My husband just started his DOT last Feb 4. He supposed to have his interview this coming Monday, Feb 10. When I heard the news from him that he'll have to undergo this treatment, it broke my heart into pieces as it's gonna a long delay. But on the brighter side atleast he'll be cured and that's more important. Anyway, my question is, do I have to contact USEmbassy in Manila or the NVC from time to time just to "keep the communication" with them. Cause what I know if a certain time had passed and they haven't heard anything from anyone about case chances are they'll cancel the case. Your reply is greatly appreciated.

Hi Eveyone!

My fiance filed the petition last May 17 under California Service Center.

Your police clearance certificate will cover all of China, you need to obtain it in your Hukou city.

You didn't live in Thailand for a year so no need to have pcc from there.

Hi, Thank you so much! I am little bit confused with this part.

"(2) current residence where the applicant had resided for at
least six months since attaining the age of sixteen, (3) from all countries where the applicant has resided for at least
one year"

Look here on page 2.

I used to work and live in Thailand for 6 months.

Do you think the consul will ask for the police certificate during my stay in Thailand?

ChinaGetting a Police Check from China

Hi, I am in Beijng, China and just got my  police certificate for my K-1 visa application.
I am on Z visa so I don't have the problem getting it.

How about you call them? I have the number if you need it. :)

I am the beneficiary, a Canadian citizen.  And I have not had any luck in my communications with the Chinese, American or Canadian embassies.  They all told me to get in contact with the local police station in Beijing.  I asked my friend to go on my behalf and they denied my request because they don't do police clearance checks for F visa holders.  I am very curious is anyone has been in the situation since I am not quite sure where to go from here.

I am still waiting for our NOA2 but I just want to do the research ahead since I am not from China.

I am here to seek help and advice not to get lecture and get corrected.

But, I do appreciate your answer about chasing P3 and making an account. Would elaborate that please?

Thank you.

Okay, thank you but how can I make plans if I don't know what to do?

I think, I should know what to do first and then I can make plans. Every person is different.

oh - i meant - this whole idea of 'coping' is just fruitless.

Instead, make yer plan, then do yer plan.

No need to 'cope' with anything - this stuff isn't reactionary.

ChinaInterview and medical exam

Hi, Thank you so much Darnell!

1. What is P3 and P4? Is P3, the document from NVC to Guangzhou and P4, the letter from the embassy to me?

2. Is it okay to make an account at ustraveldocs.com and schedule for the interview even if I am still waiting for the case number? (We just got approved last August 19th).

Thank you so much Darnell! star_smile.gif

For a K-1 visa chaser headed to Guangzhou for the Visa Interview,

I say no, don't get the medical done at this stage.

Instead, chase down an account at ustraveldocs.com , pay the visa appointment fee, and chase down p3 and then set an appointment, getting the p4 interview letter.

Once you have that interview letter, is safe to get a medical exam - the medical facility is really sticky about paperwork...

It's about 3 weeks, currently.

Ask your petitioner to call, using a telephone, to NVC every other day, asking for the Consular Casefile Number.

Wow! Congratulations! We just got approved the other day, August 19th, how long does it take for you to receive the case number?

Are you sure, you need to wait for the packet from the embassy before making an appointment?

I recieved my case number 3 weeks ago , then i booked my medical and had it yesterday , now i am waiting for my letter for my  interview at the Embassy. dancin5hr.gif

Hi, thank you for your answer.

I thought, the applicant will be the one who will make an appointment for the interview.

Once you have received your number from NVC then you can go ahead and make your medical appointment , as for the interview at the Embassy the answer is no - they make your appointment for this and send you a letter stating when it is.  Hope that helps.

ChinaFilipino Citizen applying for K-1 Fiance(e) Visa in Beijing, China

Thank you Ryan H,

I am legally residing in China. I came with Z visa and I have a residence permit.

Incorrect, a beneficiary can apply for a visa in a country they legally reside in.

We hired a lawyer and he said it's okay. So, I am not worried about it :)

it is said beneficiary has to apply from his/her own country, why dont u apply from philipine instead which would be easier? saw two foreigners on interview day not sure which type they were applying, but looks like they all failed pass through

Thank you for the answer Super Star Member.

How do I join the QQ group talking about this topic?

Good Luck with this, K-1 action, take some time and review the Guides, wiki and see the China threads similar to yours.  QQ is the Hot Tip.  For the USC Petition to the end of the road and your (visa), see the current time lines as the new procedures in Guangzhou are changing the time lines.

oops8rh.gif? Thank you so much Ryan H for the clarification. I appreciate it. good.gif star_smile.gif

The statements in bold are wrong.  US Citizens don't apply for US visas (K1 or otherwise), they file petitions.  The beneficiary of the petition applies for a visa

That person was incorrect, your US citizen fiance(e) filed a petition.  You as the beneficiary are applying for the visa.

ChinaFilipino Citizen applying for K-1 Fiance(e) Visa in Beijing, China

Thank you so much! You are very nice and helpful. Your wife is very lucky wow.gif

This is a very big help. Thank you!

She got involved in a QQ group (online chat group) of Chinese ladies that were also doing K-1 visas at that time. You should likely review the Embassy Info page for Guangzhou and become acquainted with the China regional forum:

http://www.visajourn...a&cty=Guangzhou

http://www.visajourn...forum/94-china/

You will find a lot of great information at those links.

It is generally recommended that the US petitioner "front-load" the initial petition with as much relationship evidence as possible for a better chance of approval at the Guangzhou consulate. Use the forum's Google search function for details.

NVC sent the approved petition to Guangzhou.

Good luck.

I was hoping I could just do it here.

Could you tell me, the things your wife did before the interview? etc...

And where did they send the approved petition is in Beijing or in Guangzhou?

Thank you.

~~Moved from K-1 Process to China regional forum~~

~Inquiry is China-specific~

Welcome to the forum.

My wife and stepson came to the US from Liaoning province (north and east of Beijing) last year on a K-1/K-2 visa. All of their processing and interview was done at the US consulate in Guangzhou. It would have great if the K-1/K-2 visas could have been processed in Beijing, but that was not an option. If I remember correctly, nonimmigrant visas (i.e, K-1) are processed similar to immigrant visas. The US consulate in Guangzhou processes immigrant visas for all residents of the People's Republic of China.
