Sooooooooooooooooo.......

My pepernotens came out more like cookies. They still taste REALLY good, but I really want to try again. I'm a bit of a perfectionist. It said to make them into little marble size balls, but the dough was so dry. I read another tip to add a little bit more milk so I did, but it was still pretty hard to shape them. Another recipe I found said to refrigerate the dough first for a bit, but I discovered that a little too late. I just wish I could find a little pepernoten baking tray lol! Since I have the spices, I might also try to make Spekulaas cookies...yum

We have our tree up, I have the Christmas centre table cloth on the coffee table, stockings up and the pine garland on the fireplace, with a snowman that lights up and a musical castle with people skating in a circle on it (its small, nothing big at all) And, we have a wooden nutcracker up and a jar that has xmas decorations on it with christmas coloured hershey kisses and kitkats in it. Also have 2 tall snowmen candle sticks in my decorative vases on either side of the fireplace. And Cards up on a wall. Err card singular, none others yet sad.gif

Thats about all heeehee!

My dad has distinctive white hair, white mustache and wears glasses. For as long as I've been alive, My dads played Santa almost EVERY single year at either his work christmas party, our community christmas party, and any other party he could fit into his schedule. His good friend once dressed up in green tights and an elf costume, and they got on a John Deere Trailer and drove around the Complex with presents for all the kids! (The parents bought and submitted it) He still has the costume and puts it on every year for my nieces and nephew. My mom would get into it and play Mrs Claus sometimes also. Thankfully, there being 5 of us kids, we were rarely forced to play the elves for the party. I'm gonna go look for pictures now! hhehe

CanadaNew Year's Resolutions
I already posted my New Years Resolution in the New Diet thread, but Ill repost here smile.gif

I want to make a dedicated effort to each of these this year:

-Make a decision with Buddy on what we plan to do, where to go etc (This one I want to be done preferably within the first 3 months of '09!)
-Cut out beer and wacky tobacky till I'm 10 lbs lighter
-Attempt to maintain a healthier lifestyle in general - Practice Moderation!!!!!!
-Wean myself off chap stick and all other lip dependencies I'm currently on. I believe this will be the hardest.

EDIT: e) fix this freakin laptop already!! freakin battery/power cord!

CanadaNew Year's Eve 2008/2009
Hi Everybody!!! We've been so busy with family and friends so I haven't been able to check the boards that often.

To start off tonight (in about 3 hours) my sister and her fiance are getting married at the North York Civil Ceremony, with an informal reception party at her house after. I think were heading to my old apartment for the after party biggrin.gif
We started out the afternoon by going to Jack Astors for some Pan Bread....mmmmmmmmmmmm Man I love that stuff!

I hope everybody has a fantastic time no matter where they are. Don't forget to be safe and I'll see you all in 2009!

mmmmmmm beer.

Best Beer experience was drinking Guinness at the Factory in Dublin Ireland. Since then, I've loved it! As I've stated here before, everybody knows I also love my Keiths. Honorable mentions include Sleeman Cream Ale, and Moosehead.

I very very very much agree with the statement about the micro breweries here. I've heard soo much smack from any Canadian about how American beer is just weak and watery, but the selection I've seen is MUCH higher then anywhere in TO. Bier Market had nothing on Columbus!

Heheh One thing stands out most in my mind. When I was 10 I wanted to be Paula Abdul. I played the Forever Your Girl Tape over and over and over, singing and dancing along.

Paula Abdul!! #######??? LOL!

One of the things I was puzzled about, was a few people said they didn't know who their SS gift was from. Didn't your box come with a postmark?

Mine was only postmarked with the address and no name. All I know is Florida biggrin.gif

Again, Thanks Trailmix for organizing smile.gif

edit: Trailmix is from Florida...and when I was wondering about the tree topper, she was the one to clarify for me.....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I agree. The first thing I thought was how thoughtful it was. In that getting to know you christmas style thread, one of the things was Angel or star for tree topper and I put that I had neither and all we had was a santa hat. I thought thats why I was gotten a topper, and then after had found the ribbon and realized it might had been an ornament. Right or not, Im sticking to it being a topper and thats what it was meant to be biggrin.gif ! LOL

Thanks again to my secret santa, who btw, I still dont know who it is heh

I got my gift! yay! But I still don't know who its from because there was no name on it! All I know is Florida heheh so that kind of narrows it down!

I got a pretty Angel smile.gif It looks like a tree topper so I got really excited! I can take that silly mini santa hat off! And candy canes. I looooooooove candy canes smile.gif

Thank you Secret Santa!

Edit, It has a ribbon, so It could also be an ornament and not a topper, but I like the idea of a topper biggrin.gif

Ill go first!!!

The only thing I collect really might be places to go for Karaoke...on any given night, I can think of about 3 different places when Im in TO...man I love it! But thats not really helpful....lately Ive been collecting different flavours of Tea... my BF thinks im crazy but I like to have a selection!

My favourite treats are Pistachios...man, I love those!

Favourite colour, this is good..I went through a serious red phase...Bright red all the way...but now Ive moved on to a very light yet bright ..........Green!! Heehee! Almost like a Lime green tho, Im NOT a walking Christmas tree!

When it comes to Christmas colours, Im a traditional girl...Red Green and Gold all the way. Nothing beats the smell of a real Pine tree also.

What I love to shop for.....but can never decide on something I can really work with...knick knacks, candle holders etc...theres soo much to choose from, I can never decide on what will really work...even with all the HGTV I watch...I dont know what it is. I just suck at it crying.gif

If I think of anything else, Ill definitely post and add more. Yay! Im excited smile.gif
