Hi,

You have all been so very helpful in answering my past questions that I must ask another!

Fiance had interview June 24th. Was told she passed but needed to submit "new" police documents.

I have tried unsuccesfuly to purchase time on the embassy "pay for advice" line.

Does she need a police document from each province/city she lived in her life? She is originally from Taiwan and has that one although it is a year old July 4th.

She originally moved to Nanchang and is there now trying to get her record. She was told (after having to supply 1000 RMB worth of cigarettes, that only one officer had her record and he wouldn't be back until 3PM!

She has her record from where she is presently living (Sanya).

Who can I call to get this resolved? Local Congress person or ?

We are VERY frustrated because this is the only thing standing etween her and the visa!

Next I can forsee her being told she has to go back to Taipei to get a new police record from there even thoough when she went for the interview last week it was still valid.

And this bribery stuff with the police department....UGH!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Best,
Curt D + Jyueru

You just get them exactly what they told you to get. One police report in her hokou city is good for all of China. If they asked for a new one from Taiwan, get it. In the meantime, contacting the pay number to get an appointment can be a real pain. Keep trying.

Getting police reports too early is a common mistake we try to educate people about here.

So, you dont think she should try too hard to get the one from Nanchang where she lived from 2004-2006?
I will tell her to bail and head back to Guangzhou! She is burnt in traveling all over the country...

Thank you!!

Last time I looked at a map, Nanchang was part of "all of China". See bold above and believe it. This ain't my first rodeo. Also, this is not the runaround. You got the police reports too early and now you do it right.

(OOPS!)

OK, I finally received my PIN number via email and made a call to the "help" line.
In between I also got some clarification from my finace.

The report from Sanya states " No criminal record in Sanya" which I explained to the VO on the phone.
The VO then conferred with her supervisor who said that in this case since it specifically said "...in Sanya" that she would be required to get the record from Nanchang too! Mainly becuase she is a Taiwan citizen.

So, it's back to the police dept in an hour to see what the specific officer holding her file (in a city of 5 million people mind you) tells her. If he is in a good mood, were set. If not it may be another case of smokes or who knows!. I did mention this to te VO and they said if she has trouble she can try to go to the Jiangxi province police station and they may be able to help.

One other thing to note as well. The VO told her once she had these papers she could go directly to the embassy in Guangzhou and submit them without an appointment (Mon-wed) and they would approve the visa on the spot and in 2 days she would have it in hand. The phone recording also states "If you have already been interviewed and have been asked to submit further documention and would like to shcedule an appointment now, press 3"
Yet the lady (Shirley) on the phone siad they will not accept in person as of Jan 1st 2008 and you must express mail the docs in....

This is so FRUSTRATING!~! We are so close!

Pushbrk, I really do appreciate all your (quick) advice!

THANK YOU.

Curt

Ok, good. So she probably will be successful getting a new letter either from the local police or the provincial. Not sure what you're going to do about Taiwan though. I'm not sure a Taiwan Citizen can get a single letter for all of China. She may well have to go to Nanchang. She should take the blue slip back to the Consulate with her when she submits the papers, then go back in two days for her answer. It will take another two days before she can pick up the visa at the local post office near the Consulate unless she lives in Guangdong province. They will only mail directly within the province.

She did get the record from nanchang, had it notorized and is on a train to Guangzhou!

They didn't give her a blue rejection slip in Guangzhou last week. She got a white slip stating what doucments weere required. She is determined to go there and hand carry to the VO as she swares they told her to do!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent
All,

Thank you for your help with this. I didn't realize that what I thought was a fairly simple question would generate such a large number of responses.

My final statement reads...

" I, Curt D., do hereby state that I am legally able and will marry Jyueru P. within 90 days of her arrival into the U.S. on the K-1 visa."

I will be mailing my document package tomorrow!!

Regards,
Curt

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent
The reason I left the last part off (and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa) is because I am in the US already and won't be arriving with a K-1 visa...

So, should I leave that off?

Thank you all for replying previously..

The guides & examples are there for a reason. Follow them & you should be fine!

Yeah, I decided to check. The body of the letter has everything you need. The portion the OP quoted was incomplete.

I, (applicant’s or beneficiary’s name) , do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry (petitioner’s or beneficiary’s name), and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

I am writing the "Letter of Intent" and have the sample from the guide but for the petitioner do I just need the following statement?

"I, (name), do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry (name)."

Thank you..

Thank you both for your reply. After reading more on the CFL site I will not be allowed in the interview.

That site is a great resource to prepare for the interview. It looks pretty complicated and it's nice to have the knowledge of what to expect available before hand!

Hi ,

This is an easy one and I am a bit embarrassed to ask but...... am I required to be present at the interview with my fiance? I am hoping to get NOA2 within the next few weeks (NOA1 July 27th) and want to plan my travel if required.

Thank you!

Hi,

I wanted to prepare the I-134 ahead of time as suggested but have a few questions....

I was reading the I-134 form and Item II, A states:

Statement from an officer at the bank or other financial institutions where you have deposits, identifying the following details regarding your account:

1. Date account opened;

2. Total amount deposited in the past year;

3. Present balance

So, I went to the bank and they said they cannot give me item 2. (Total amount deposited in the past year) because they have a standard VOD (?) and it does not include that information.

Do I need this data?

The I-134 also does not ask for any TAX information yet I have heard several mention this in these forums.

Can any one shed any light on these two items?

Thank you!

Curt

If your income is sufficient, you may simply skip all asset related questions. Per the instructions.

Thank you for your reply.

I am not sure about China but in Colombia they want 'fresh' birth certificates (less than 3 months old or so) - there you go to the notary where your birth was registered and they print out another one for you for $5 or so. Good Luck

A birth certificate does not expire.

Exactly. Unless you've passed away I guess.

lol They don't expire first because the nature of the document itself as a one time record of birth and second because the information isn't subject to change. "Correction" yes, change no.

Most people in China don't have a birth certificate. What they submit is a product of the Gong Zheng Chu attesting to the contemporary information provided being accurate. In the USA, it's a copy of an actual document recorded at birth. In my daughter's case the family falsified a new birth certificate (again, not really a certifiicate of birth) so she could start school a year early. They forgot to change it back later so all her records now show her as three months older than she really is.

Thank you all for your kind help. It was very accurate and now we are scrambling to get police records!

My Fiance received a copy of her birth certificate about a year ago and is concerned that it is too long ago and i may be "expired".

I am trying to convince her this is not a problem but she wants some assurance. If anyone has any info about this please let us know so she can have a good night sleep!
