USCIS Service CentersWHATS GOING ON IN CSC
I would definitely suggest calling, and then following up with them somewhat frequently if they can't give you accurate case status information. Don't worry about getting on their nerves. However, do keep in mind that they have a large case load and sometimes it takes a while - plus it's the govt. so that will already slow things down quite a bit :) Don't forget though, they are providing a service. You have every right to be requesting this service, and you are paying for it on all levels. If you feel they are not providing you with satisfactory service, then talk to as many people as you need to in order to get your questions answered. Every time I have talked to them, they seem generally interested in helping and have always done something to help remedy whatever the issue was.

Hi everybody,

Doug and I sent the 129f-Form out on April 28th and recieved our NOA 1 on May 8th. It got forwarded to CA from Texas. Do I list Texas now, or California? unsure.gif Anyways, we are at day 128 today and super anoyed because nothing is happening. I am on this website all day, every day.. I know, I am not alone and that makes me feel better.. at least sometimes good.gif

October 2005 met and started dating (USA)
Mai 2006 moved in together (USA) -- B-2 Tourist Visa
October 2006 I left USA (after 1 year)
December 2006 (Doug came to Germany and stayed 3 months to meet family and friends)
February 2007 (we got engaged)
March 2007 (Doug went home to the USA)
April 2007 (applied for K-1)
July 2007 (I visited Doug in USA for 2 weeks)
August 2007 (Doug visited me for 1 week)
November 2007 (going to visit Doug for 2 weeks)

Very, very anoying... Nikkidus

Hi Nikkidus,
You should keep California as your service center. I know there are some people on here that still have Nebraska or Texas in their timelines, but it doesn't make any sense since they don't process K-1's anymore. You're getting very close to the end of your wait smile.gif A few filers that sent theirs on April 30th have gotten approved, so you are not far behind. Best of luck to you!

Thank you for answering my question. It took me a couple days to figure out how ppl answer my post. Thank you for trying to cheer me up while sitting in the same boat :-) Good luck to you, too!

Can somebody PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE tell me what's up with the Vermont Service Center??????? I just checked the USCIS website & it seems that they changed the processing time AGAIN!!!!! Except this time they didn't move forward.... they went BACKWARDS!!!!!!!! What's up with that????????? This is what it says for K-1 Visa Processing Time in Vermont:

I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance(e) K-1/K-2 - Not yet married - fiance and/or dependent child March 07, 2008

Excuse me?????? WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?????? I'm so frustrated with all these people already!!!!! It seems that just when we move 1 step forward, they move us 10 STEPS BACK!!! Someone PLEASE help me understand what all this is about. crying.gif

You just have to put your time in and wait, unfortunately. Once you get beyond the number of days that they list on their website for processing, you can give them a call and they might be able to give you a sense of how things are going. But after going through this for almost 2 years, and finally getting our GC approval the other day, I can say from experience that worrying does no good. Just wait, follow their instructions, and it will all happen eventually. Best of luck!

Does anyone else have a love/hate relationship with VJ? It is a God send in the sense of supporting each other and knowing that we as individuals are not alone, as well as comparing your timeline to others... but it also makes me more insane by reading everyone's frustrations and thinking more into this dreadful process! I just can't keep myself off of it... haha.

COME ON USCIS!!!!!!!!!! Lets go MAY FILERS!!!!!!!!!!! GOod luck everyone!

I know what you mean Nicole. I have felt a love/hate thing too at times, but then I think how I would feel if I didn't know about the forum. I can't imagine being totally in the dark like that. Besides it's so nice to know I am not the only person going through this and it's nice to be able to complain to people who can actually relate to you! smile.gif And it is terribly addictive.... helpsmilie.gif wink.gif
So, I'd like to take this moment to say a big THANKS to everyone I've met here and for all the support! You guys are all great and I'm pulling for more May filer approvals this week!!!

Congratulations!! I am very excited for you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions: K1- package 3
Doug and I are at day 140 now from NOA1 - NOA2- We have been touched 3 times within the last week so we are counting on our NOA2 any time soon.

As of today, I am putting all the papers together, that I will recieve with the package 3 in the near future. That way I am quick when it gets here. I know, the Police Report has to be pretty up to date, so with that one I am waiting until I actually have my NOA2.

To especially all the Germans on here: I am trying to make up time as soon as I receive package 3! Can someone please tell me what documents come with the package 3 . I know of the affidavit of support (Doug is on that), police report, international birth certificate, medical.. I need the forms that I will need to fill out.. and I need more passport pictures and I need 3 certified birth certificates for the future and 2 copies of my medical for the AOS.

I am on this website every day, all day and I am glad I am not busy at work right now. I already moved in with my parents, so all i have to do is quit my job and get a ticket once i have the visa is in my hands.

140 days have been a very long time with a lot of ups and downs and I can see why some couples break up during the waiting period. We are lucky and visit each other every 8 weeks but still, we need to be together all the time heart.gif

It would be awesome, if i could leave Germany by December 31st. good.gif

All the best to everybody on here - this website is great and wouldn´t know what to do without it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk-1 visa -- package 3, can someone help me please
Our NOA 2 got approved yesterday and now we are filling, preparing everything possible.
Has anybody ever noticed that some forms are expired like I-134 and DS 230, DS 156.. but they are the only ones listed on USCIS and VJ.
I guess they are busy working on the petitions devil.gif

I would like to know what forms i will recieve with package 3 and when can i shedule my medical (i called Berlin office and to get a medical appointment it takes 2-3 weeks the most and another 2 weeks to everything ready for the consulate).

Please, if my German fellows, that are ahead of me, could give me some advise?!

Thanks so much.. I just got notified about my NOA2 and feel like I cannot think straight all the sudden .. must be the Adrenalin.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdjusting from VWP vs a K1/K3
QUOTE (Yaads @ Nov 19 2008, 10:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was hoping you all could give me some good information and/or point me in the right direction.

My mom put me in contact with a couple who is planning on getting married in Canada and then having the guy (Canadian citizen) come across the border to the US, stay and adjust. I understand the whole "intent to immigrate" concept and that it is illegal. I am just having a hard time putting it into words to explain it clearly to them why it is illegal and what is and isn't allowed. They think that there will be no problem with the way they are planning to proceed.

So if you could help me out that would be great...I just need a more concise and clear explanation as I don't seem to be getting my point across very well. Maybe some laws to draw to their attention would be helpful as well.

Thanks star_smile.gif

It's illegal because the U.S. is a soverign country and has rules concerning who is allowed to live there and how they need to go about informing the government about who they are, and why they should be granted residence. No different than Canada, I would think. It took us almost 2 years to do it the "right" way. But the way I look at it is, you should have some respect for the country that you chose to live in. If the first thing you are going to contribute to a new country that you are planning to move to, is break one of their laws, then maybe you should re-consider being a part of that country. Plus there are a whole bunch of people in line in front of them, trying to do things the right way. They should respect that and get in the same line and wait their turn.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about Sponsor and Co-Sponsor
QUOTE (ThatJaredGuy @ Nov 24 2008, 10:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This website has been a great help for me and my fiancee while we've been getting our forms together and filled out for the K1 process, but I haven't found information on one question that's been bugging me.

I'm a full-time student, and I've been taking on a very heavy class-load since my fiancee and I decided that we would like to get married. I have a very supportive family who pay my way through college so that I can focus on my studies, and as such, I have not had a "real" job yet. I know that my co-sponsor's income is sufficient for the requirements.

First of all, does the Netherlands accept co-sponsors at their consulate?
And, if so, what would I have to do when it comes time to file my I-134s? Do I need to go and get a part time job? Or would having a co-sponsor able to show a proper amount of support be sufficien

Thanks for any and all help!

-Jared

My suggestion is to get in touch with the Netherlands consulate and ask them. As far as providing proof of financial support goes, the uscis web site has info on the exact amount of financial support that is required and whether or not that can be provided entirely by your co-sponsor.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHousing Issues?
QUOTE (Liam and Kara @ Nov 24 2008, 07:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi VJ's

Please can you clear up an issue we are both worrying about?

The situation is my Fiance is lving at present with her Mother at her home along with her Daughter and Son, they hve been there for a few months now,
the worry we have is that until I move over and get working to bringin anothe income she may have to move into Public Housing until we get on our feet.
We are not to sure whether this woud effect our Visa application status or not? My Fiance works in the Health Service and has a full time steady job and also earnsre than the 125% guidlines state as well as ths we have a co sponsor just in case she also claims no benefits at this time staying with her Mother.
Please can you let me know if tis will or will not effect us or should we wait till i am there?

If she is earning more than the 125% poverty level, then it will be your case reviewers discretion as to whether or not her situation will cause a problem. It very well could though, since the purpose of the affadavit of support is to show that an intending immigrant will not be a burden on the tax system here.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI used a immigration lawyer, was told checking my status might cause delays
QUOTE (EdwardK @ Nov 18 2008, 09:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Okay this might seem kind of strange. I wanted the immigration process to go as smooth as possible, so I dished out about $3.5k for a good immigration lawyer. I'm bringing my fiance over from Afghanistan and was afraid that there would be complications due to it being wartime.

I called up my lawyer today and asked to be given the my case number so I can check the status online. She gladly gave it to me but told me not to check the site that often as it could cause delays. When I asked her why, she said that since the case is filed under their office, every outside inquiry can cause delays because the immigration center would need to follow up on outside inquiries.

Anyone else heard of this?

So far the only thing I know is my processing check of $455 has been cashed by immigration (on August 9th) from my bank statement and that I'm still waiting.

Thanks.

I would never waste the money on an immigration lawyer unless you run into a legal issue, first. The lawyers I saw show up at the USCIS office looked like ambulance chasers. If you follow the govts instructions, and wait, things will go fine. I checked status many, many times. It slows nothing down.
