Middle East and North Africaso confused about interview !!
Other than some of the basic, see I'm not sure if your interview is K3 or IR1. If your case has been to NVC, then they might have your basic information and only need things like pictures, copies of when he entered, maybe emails, letters, chat logs. Any type of evidence you can think of, but when my husband went, they didn't ask for anything. Now if you are doing K3, then the consulate needs everything like police records, birth certificates, etc. I wish you good luck and if you have any questions please feel free to pm me.

Middle East and North AfricaThe First Year...
I just wanted to say that I enjoy all of the advice and stories that everyone is posting. This really gives me a heads up of what to be mindful of and expect once Aziz gets here in almost 3 weeks. I am so scared and not sure how to handle myself, but I will definitely be looking forward to posting about it a year from now.

Middle East and North AfricaSunday
Hello Ladies,

Nawal I wish the babies luck with their appointment. Hope Halloween makes up for it and I wish you the best of luck with the VP.

As for my Sunday, I am stuck doing homework and have been for the past couple of hours. Ugh this whole month has been hectic with grad school, but at least I have to be happy because exactly 2 weeks from today the hubby is coming...AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Middle East and North AfricaInterview date question.....or two....CASA
NVC pretty much looks at the financial information although CASA does check it out....just a minimal review is what I was told when I called and asked. Only if you are doing a CR1. Don't bring anything up about the job. The only concern i have is when they ask your hubby what is your occupation? That's a question they ask everyone. I'm not sure if you would get a december interview because sometimes they try to give you a few weeks to get the medical, but I will pray and hope that you do.

Middle East and North Africaagencies for diploma accreditation - Morocco
I would start with the school that you're interested in and see some of the lists that they have. Also the admissions officer could give you advice about your degrees and what qualifies or not, but they have a lot of options in terms of companies that do it and some do take your translations. I had to ask all this to be prepared for my hubby when he comes. He went to school as well and got his diploma's translated, next step is getting it evaluated.

Middle East and North AfricaK3 in Casablanca
When I was doing the K3 for my husband before I switched to the CR1, Casa had informed me that I did not need any proof of financial support when I called because it was a K3. Although I have heard different things. Some ask some don't. I would just be prepared, but maybe you might hear from others that might have better advice or actually went through with it. Good luck smile.gif

Middle East and North AfricaMonday!
Good morning MENA

Well it is sunny outside and a little chilly here in FL. Adjusting to the hubby being here now for 1 week, funny how he is still sleeping at this very moment. The time change is still getting to him I guess. Well until the hubby awakes, I am still writing yet another 10 page paper on a Monday. Hope everyone has a great day.

My husband had the first page (biographic) of his passport translated because that is what NVC had asked for. I would email Casa if you can and ask them. They usually respond within 2 days, but sometimes longer.

Middle East and North AfricaHappy Thanksgiving '09
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Tamara - your menu sounds great....

Henna Rose- I have had deep fried turkey and it was awesome, but it really deepens on who makes it. It was the juicest and most flavorful turkey I have ever had.

Stacy - So wishing I had some egg nog right about now

I am just waking up from my Thanksgiving nap and still feel the need to nibble on a little more. I have been in the kitchen all day.

Menu: Herb roasted cornish hen, Turkey parts (wings, neck, and leg) huge, green bean casserole, zucchini cream stuffing, baked mac and cheese, salad, cornbread pudding, fruit salad. I was too lazy to make a big traditional turkey.

Pretty simple in that it was just the two of us this year and my fam is around the country visiting others. No we haven't begun to eat all of it, hopefully tomorrow we can work on those leftovers. I wish everyone I great holiday.

Middle East and North AfricaComing to America!
My husband just came on the 7th for his first time and he happened to sit next to friend that he knew....So that made him feel a little more at ease. He stopped in Italy and loved the airport, but as soon as he got in Miami, things went downhill. Like some of you, I got there like 3-4 hours early. Come to find out that his plane was arriving an hour late....UGH.... Then the sad news was he was the last person to leave the terminal from immigration. So after pacing the floor, crying, and going off on everyone there for some answers as to if my husband had missed his plane finally at 7 pm he came walking out.

EVERYTHING is tripping my husband out. A small trip to Wal-Mart takes almost 2-4 hours as he wants to compare the prices of every single thing. We are already testing the patience, but that is something I am trying to learn to have more of. He has finally gotten a schedule down to where he can talk to his family more frequently, but it is bothering him about being home all day. Which is something I knew would bother him before he came because that he has worked 24/7 for the past 7 years. That loneliness sinks in, but I am hoping to get him somewhat settled. Like others have said, I am trying to understand that this could take years to adjust.

Despite everything, we are taking it one day at a time and I am loving every minute with him.

Middle East and North AfricaVisa for muslim women with american man
QUOTE (norielorie @ Nov 29 2009, 11:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have a question. My fiance and I was talking about what would be the requirements for a muslim women doing a visa with a american man. Can they even do a fiance visa. I know when it comes to a women that things are very different, cuase they have to marry a muslim man. So is it possible to them to do a fiance visa. Most states here do civil cermonies and not recongnize a mosque Nikkah, except in one state. So do they need to get married in Morocco or can they do a fiance visa. I already told my fiance the man will have to prove he is muslim too. And i have not seen this come up a lot. So any answers will be apperciated

Hi,

From my understanding, you can do a fiance visa. Yes, things may seem different, but because you will be getting married in the US and not in Morocco, I don't think the requirement applies. You don't have to do a ceremony unless you are talking about an engagement party? If you do get married in Morocco, then you would need the requirement. Many women have gotten fiance visas without the requirement.

Hope I have answered your question, but I am sure there are others that can either add or answer your question better.

Middle East and North AfricaHow Aya's Interview Went
QUOTE (Aya&John @ Dec 14 2009, 07:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Quick update! smile.gif

John just called DOS a little bit ago and they told him our case status is not AP, it's: temporary hold for paper work.. And the visa should be issued right after they get the papers.. The DOS representative also told him he read our interview review and it was one of the best reviews he has seen to come out of Egypt in the last 8 years!!!! smile.gif I feel flattered lol blush.gif

Oh and I even the DOS representative told John: "Your fiance brought too much proof" laughing.gif

Congratulations Aya!!!! That is great that he said that, means good news coming your way. I am so excited for the both of you. I'm sure you will be getting your visa any day now. Wish you both the best of luck.

Middle East and North AfricaDoes the CO put you on AP BEFORE the interview?
This is an interesting topic that I have always been curious about. But like Jenn said, I am figuring that everyone gets a name check its just some are put in AP longer than others. Coming from Morocco, I was suprised the hubby got his visa the next day instead of waiting. Morocco is such a difficult consulate, I thought maybe it would have been weeks.

Middle East and North AfricaQuestion about the Consulate in Casa and I-864
QUOTE (JamilahAM @ Dec 20 2009, 08:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello all,

I am planning on doing a DCF with the US Consulate in Casa next month and I will have a co-sponsor in the form of my one of my friends. My question is this:

1. Will she need to supply me with her 2008 or 2009 tax form and W-2?
2. Will a letter from her employer be necessary?
3. Does she need to show enough income for just my husband or for me too? Weird because I cant seem to figure this out.
4. I have been in Morocco since August 2008 and I have no income for 2009 to report on my taxes. Do I still have to file or can I simply write a letter to the Consulate stating where in the US tax code I derived this information from.

And off topic...
6. I speak a moderate amount of Arabic and my husband speaks a moderate amount of English. What language will our interview be conducted in?

Thanks

xoxo

Hi, I am sure that there are others on here that have done the DCF through Morocco and can be of more assistance, but I will try to help in whatever way that I can.

1. They will need the 2009 tax form since you are doing it in Janurary and they only need it for the year prior. If you want you can also include 2008, but only the last year is required.
2. I'm not sure if a letter from the employer is required. From what I see, most people have sent them. Its better to have it than not to because it shows their salary I guess.
3. Enough income needs to be showed for the amount of people living in a household. I'm sure someone can correct me on that, but my situation was different since I had someone within the household do it. I'm thinking that in your case, your joint sponsor would only have to show that they have enough income to sponsor your spouse. A jointsponsor must be able to meet the income requirements for allthe persons he or she is sponsoring without combiningresources with the petitioning sponsor or a second jointsponsor (USCIS)
4. Again, with this question I would ask others as well. My father lives in Morocco and has not had US income since Feb. 2008 and has not filed. The consulate will ask you for a letter anyways if you do not file your taxes though.

6. From what I know, the interviews are done in English. My husband said that they had some interviews done in Arabic as well. He was given two. One in Arabic and the other in English because he told them his wife was American and spoke English.

I'm sorry for any gray areas. I hope I was able to help
