United KingdomPrem rate no for Live help & booking interview
In my experience, e-mailing tended to get a concise, useful reply in a few days, whereas calling almost always ended in me slamming down the phone after about three quarters of an hour cursing the consulate and everyone who works there.

I stuck with e-mails.

United KingdomWorld Cup
Regarding the commentary, as long as neither David Pleat nor John Gregory are involved, I'll be happy. These guys are killing me almost every time I watch a Premiership game on FSC. Pleat just talks about irrelevant, random things that make very little sense, and if Gregory makes that joke about Arjen Robben having rollerskates on one more time, I'm going to smash my TV.

Ahem. Slight digression. I'm looking forward to the world cup. I've watched a couple of Champion's League games on ESPN2, and the commentary has seemed okay. Are those the guys we're talking about?

United KingdomWorld Cup??

Well who are they going to replace him with that is as much of a threat to score? It would be like going into the World Series and your best pitcher hurts his arm or Super Bowl and best your best running back or receiver can't play. You can still win, but it is something you have to figure to be a big negitive.

Oh sure, I can't think of any single individual who is as much of a threat in front of goal, it's true. But a team that is based entirely around one player will always struggle. Luckily, I do believe that England have more depth than that.

Plus the other things is Owen still hasn't test himself for full match.

Owen doesn't exactly look ready. He's hardly played this season. I think it would be a mistake to stick him up front with his current level of fitness. Then again, without Rooney, our options are...um...Defoe? Crouch? Bent?

Actually, I read something interesting in another forum the other day where somebody suggested that Joe Cole play the Rooney role, ie forward dropping deep. Not a bad idea, if you ask me. Cole's been quality all season, and he's never looked all that comfortable in the England midfield.

United Kingdomvisa interview dress up or casual?
I can't even remember what I wore. Jeans and a T-shirt of some description. I await the first thread from anybody whose application was denied 'cause they didn't shave that morning.

United KingdomLondon Embassy Graduates Thread
Congrats, Euro.

Everyone who's entering on a visa is invited to the back room to get it processed, so yes, it's very normal and to be expected by all.

I was never taken to the dreaded back room *insert sinister music*. I feel as though I've missed out somehow.

My POE was Los Angeles, and it took me maybe five minutes longer than usual to get through.

United Kingdomunfriendly brits in SoCal
Must admit, I've had no particular desire to 'go British' on any of my nights out since I've been here. That said, I've only been here (Fullerton) a month, so I'm still soaking up the local colour. I'd definitely be friendly if I met other Brits out here (though I haven't yet). I take the point that some folk might not want that, but it'd be good to hear an accent from back home.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApproved
My interview experience.

And seeing as that's pretty heavy on the creative side of things, I thought I'd just explain about the 'two trip' thing. When I went first time, I got through the whole process without giving them the red receipt for the £63 payment. Being a little distracted at the time (as I'm sure anyone who has been through the interview experience will understand), I didn't even notice. So I finished up, got approved, and went home floating on a cloud. Soon as I get through the door, my phone rings and it's the embassy saying they haven't got the receipt and can't process the visa without it. So I go all the way back (a two hour journey) just to hand this tiny slip of paper to a security guard.

Symptomatic of the whole process as far as I've experienced it, by the way. Stupid little mistakes every step of the way. Thank Christ it's over.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApproved
After TWO trips to the US Embassy today (of which more later), I finally got my K-3 approved!

That's seven months altogether, not bad considering the f'ups along the way. I'll post a full report later, but for now I just wanted to say thanks to all the people that helped me with questions etc. I have no idea how the hell I could have found my way through the K3 process without the assistance of some of the fine folks here.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan my wife enter the US although she does not have her k-3 visa yet?
Shockwave,

There is always a risk of being turned away at the point of entry while a visa application is pending. People do get through (I did), but keep in mind there is absolutely no guarantee that your wife will be allowed through. Check out the link aussiewench posted for as much detail as you could possibly want.
