United KingdomWho else is having 2 weddings?
I might be having 2 weddings! But in the reverse order. We were misinformed about how long the visa could actually take, and went ahead and booked the venue amongst other vendors for a wedding August 22nd. If my visa isnt done by then, the ceremony in August will be religious, and we'll get married later when I have my visa and it's legal!

United KingdomDocuments for interview?
Well the issue is,my interview is in 3 days and even if my fiance posted it right now it could still take 5 working days to get to me! :-/ I just hope the evidence I have is sufficient!

United KingdomDocuments for interview?
Thanks so much everyone! Yes I have long and short birth certificates. In terms of the affidavit, I looked on the embassy website and it just says it may be requested if other evidence in insufficient. I have two pay checks showing monthly income, and I am going to get Adam to fill out the affidavit and scan it to me... I hope it'll be okay that it's not the original??

United KingdomDocuments for interview?
Hello everyone! I have my K1 interview in London in 3 days time, and I just wanted to check that I have absolutely everything I might need. I've got a folder for all my visa related things.
It currently contains:

  • NOA1 & copy
  • NOA2 & copy
  • 2 Proofs of Address
  • 2 Police Cetificates
  • 4 Passport Photographs
  • 4 Visa Photographs
  • Proof of Engagement/Visitation/Relationship
- Contract from officiant
- Contract from wedding venue
- Catering Proposal
- Copy of Invitations
- Wedding Dress receipt
- Engagement Cards
- Photographs
- Plane Tickets
- Copies of Conversations
  • Proof of Financial Support
  • Fiance's Divorce Papers & Copy
  • Copy of Packet 3
  • Passport
  • Birth Certificate
  • Interview Letter
  • Receipt for Payment

I think that's everything I've got! I hope there is sufficient evidence, any other advice would be great. I know not all of this stuff (ie. NOA1, copy of pack 3) is needed but i'm jut taking my whole folder.
Also, I've heard that some people have been asked for evidence that they plan on leaving the country and that acceptable proof is job termination, rent termination or plane ticket. I don't pay rent, I've been in college (not working) and it says on the embassy website not to arrange any travel plans until after the interview... but if I might be refused because I cant prove I'm leaving, might it be an idea to book tickets anyway??

Sorry for the long post! Hope you all are having a good day!

United KingdomInterview dilemma :(
Not what I meant, at all! Haha I guess I didn't really make sense..

I'm not planning to enter with the visa in my passport, unless they can give me an earlier date. If they can't, I'm going to fly out on vacation, have my ceremony, but not sign anything legal, come home, get the visa, go back out and then do a courthouse legal signing.

 Hope that makes sense!

It's just disappointing that I might have to do that instead of signing the papers at our ceremony!

United KingdomInterview dilemma :(
I'm so confused and upset, I just had to share it;
Packet 4 through the post this morning, 9th August! Over the moon since I have a wedding ceremony planned for August 22nd. I called and paid the fee, and the guy on the phone said it can take 7-10 working days to get the visa and passport back...

Well, 10 working days is August 23rd...
So I couldn't even travel to the US and have my ceremony, come back get the visa, and then get married officially after re-entering later, cause I won't have my passport! After spending 20 minutes on hold, the man on the phone told me I had to email and try and re-arrange the date for either before the 9th or after the 22nd.

Gutting, I thought this would finally be over. :(
I've sent the e-mail, so I guess I just have to wait and see now. :(

United KingdomInterview to Visa-in-Hand...How long?
I know exactly how anxious you must feel! I booked my travel plans because i had my interview about 2 weeks before my planned wedding date. - I spoke to someone on the phone who assured me that I would have my visa in hand before my travel date.
At the interview, they asked me if i had booked travel and I told them I had. Sure enough, they stuck to their word and the visa arrived the day before I was due to leave! But it sure caused a lot of panic and worry, so as mentioned above, if you can avoid it, don't put yourself through the stress i went through! :bonk:

Anyays, from my interview to receiving the visa, it took 7 days (5 working days) Best of luck to you!! :D

United KingdomPossible to get an earlier Embassy interview?
I asked the embassy if I could have an earlier interview date and their response was flat out, NO. Even after explaining to them that my wedding was only a week after the interview. They worked with me to get my visa to me the day before my planned travel and luckily my wedding plans weren't ruined.
I guess some people have managed to get earlier dates though; either by phone or email. I found no-one on the phones were able to help me and the only response I got with a definite answer was by email.

In terms of the affidavit, that should be fine. I didn't realize that I needed it either, and the night before when I was doing final preps, I panicked! I didn't have it. My fiance filled it out in the US and scanned it to me in the UK, along with a letter from his employer. It looked awful! You could definitely tell it was scanned.
At the interview, they simply asked me where the original was, and I was honest and said I didn't realize I needed the form until last night and I asked my husband to scan it to me, so the original is with him in the States.
They accepted it without an issue. He didn't have pay stubs because he had just started a new job so the letter stated his predicted hours. They also took that without a problem.

So hopefully, they won't be too picky about it in your case either, but to be on the safe side, just gather as much as you can and be completely honest with your interviewer. And a pretty smile in their direction might help you too. :innocent:

United KingdomCopy of Medical Results?
Thank you both for your input! I guess I'd better book another medical then :-/
Victoria GFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-04-11 20:51:00
United KingdomCopy of Medical Results?
Hello all,
I'm in the process of filing for AOS, and had an interview which was followed by an RFE, saying my medical portion was incomplete. I sent a response saying I had a medical done in the UK at Knightsbridge last year, with a copy of my receipt, saying that they should be in possession of the results from that medical. Took them two months, but finally had the response saying that in theory, my file would be fine, but unfortunately, they are no longer in possession of my original medical results (presumably lost), and that I either needed to obtain a copy of the original medical proving I don't have a Class A disease, or get a new medical performed, and that I have until the end of the month to do so.

So my question is:
a) Will Knightsbridge Doctors have a copy of my medical on file that they can either scan to me or send to USCIS?
b) If not, is there anyone else who may have a copy along the route of USCIS locations?
c) Has this happened to anyone else? Or am I the only annoyed person today lol.

Thanks!

Victoria

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPOE ???
As for getting a social, you just go to your local office, tell them you're here on a visa and then wait 'til your number is called.
that's eveything you need to bring with you:

Mine took 13 days to arrive from the day I applied. :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPOE ???
I entered on a K1 visa, in Atlanta GA but I imagine it'd be similar. :)
Okay, so I stood in line for a long time only to be told I was in the wrong line and they moved me to a different line, where I was told again I was in the wrong line! They then had someone escort me to a room where there were 2 men sitting at a desk and a waiting area for other people with visas.
They asked for all my paperwork and for me to make sure my I-94 was completely filled out, so I gave them the sealed pack, my passport and then they told me to sit down.
They called me back up after review and just asked me a few questions like:

How long have you known him? What does he do for a living? Do you have any children together? When do you plan to get married? Where is your final destination in the United States? etc. Just basic questions really, and not many of them.

They finally took me out of the room and put me back in the very first line I was in! When I got to the front of the line, the guy asked if I had any evidence of relationship, and I showed him some photos and email conversations. He then got out his walkie thing and told 2 other guys to come over and look at my visa. He said they would be "fascinated" by it, cause they don't see a lot of visas. Ha!

Anyway, they were very friendly, and I packed up all my stuff back into my hand luggage and was on my way. The process took about an hour give or take to get all the way through (and that's including all the queueing(mainly in the wrong lines)! So the process itself shouldn't take too long)

Congratulations on your visa process thus far, and best of luck to you on your new life in the States! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan I use Whats app history?

I have just exported all our Whats app history from April to my email so that I can print them for my Fiance interview and just want to find out if it would be considered authentic. I hope you guys knows how Whats app works. Hope you can help me clear this doubt.

Really glad you've mentioned whatsapp because I'll probably be using conversations from there as evidence too. Good luck with your interview!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo I need to send an I-134 (Affidavit of Support) with my I-129F Packet?
Yep person above is absolutely right. You will need the I-134 for the interview along with any other supporting documents - such as bank statements, evidence of employment, anything which states annual income. :)
I'm sure you've got everything you need for the I-129F but check on USCIS documents just in case. :)

Hello everyone.
I have my K1 interview tomorrow at London Embassy, any last minute advice?
I'm very nervous - I don't know why, it's not like I've got anything to hide but I'm scared that a big proportion of my future is in someone else's hands for 10 minutes. Eek!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUrgent!Help!
Won't affect it at all! My fiance came out of the military and changed his job just 2 weeks before my final K1 interview! We just put it on the affidavit of support and got the manager at his new job to write a letter stating he was working there and how much he would be earning. Certainly nothing to worry about yet!

Yep, I probably looked like a moron! I didn't stop smiling the whole ride home! And on the train, a stranger I was sat next to got out a bottle of red wine and two plastic cups and asked if i wanted to toast to the approval - weird! Very very happy though. :) Did you see the same people I did? The woman I saw for the questioning asked if I like men in uniform (Cause my fiance is military) - awkward.... :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresreaching the poverty guidelines
I'm not 100% sure what you are asking about with 1099 and 1040 but for two people in almost all states, the poverty limit is $15,130, so I guess as long as you are over that you are ok.
I imagine it is something to do with total and then taxable income.

The form DS-230 part 2 expired on 29/2 and part 1 is to expire in the next couple of days. What happens in this situation, are the forms still valid, or do we have to wait for new ones from the .gov website.

United KingdomThe 2009 United Kingdom Interview Thread!
Hello Members of this forum, I have been following your discussions for the past 2 weeks ever since i received my interview letter from the Embassy in London. It has actually blessed and informed me in my case.

Toady I was approved of my K-1 Visa at the after a 2min interview with the CO. Though my case was a bit complicated, I am so happy and waiting for the return of my passport in 3-5 working days as I was told by the CO.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, you are doing a very great job here. I will keep you all informed as things unfold.
