IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhich addresss
Hi there,
This may be way off topic or not even helpful at all...but did you look into Direct Consular Filing. I'm not quite sure of your whole situation, but it sounds like you might be able to take advantage of that? Sorry, I am just getting started here and still learning, I was hoping that I could use DCF b/c it sounds a lot easier (wont' work for us tho). Hopefully someone else will be able to give you what you are looking for! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 petition-a couple simple quesitons (hopefully)
Hello out there,

I am in the middle of putting together my 129F petition for my fiance's K1 visa. I have tried to do as much research as possible...we are doing this without a lawyer. My first question: Do we need a lawyer? I think our case should be fairly easy--fiance is from England and neither of us have police records! It would be nice to have peace of mind...just can't afford it!

Also, I am working on my G325A form(s). When it asks for places of employment for the past 5 years and the full address, there just isn't enough room! I can't fit the full name of employer and address on the one line so I have taken up two lines. Is that ok? There is one employer that won't fit so I will have to type it up on separate paper. I suppose I will need to make 4 copies...what is the best way to attach the extra sheet of employment to each of the 4 forms? Paperclip? Then I get paranoid that it will come loose!

I'm a little pedantic and don't want to do anything wrong--I want whoever reviews this petition to be impressed and not annoyed! Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTOUCHED!
Is the Nebraska Center much slower compared to other centers? I'm about to send mine off to NE....bummer! I'm new to all of this...I take it that 'touched' is a good thing...do you see that by checking your status online? How is that done? I'm not even there yet I suppose but it will be good to know! :o) It will alllll be worth it in the end my friend!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of Being Born in US

I remember finding some number on my husband's U.S. birth certificate and just it in the space provided and it was never mentioned or questioned.

Hey yeah I was wondering about that number too. I noticed a small digit number on my birth certificate too and wondered if that is what they were looking for. The form isn't exactly clear in stating whether the number is for birth cert. or naturalization...altho maybe both have numbers. I am filling out my I-129f at the moment and think that I will put the number on my birth cert. in that box. Sound good?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilling out my petition--quick question!
Hey guys me again....

sorry I JUST found another thread asking similar quesitons about upper or lower case. Sorry for the repitition.

Still wondering about the G325 form though. For that same part, do I put N/A or NONE...I am the US citizen. I've read not to put N/A when None is applicable...they are so similar sometimes! hehe

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilling out my petition--quick question!
Hi everyone!
Just filling out my I-129f petition. I was wondering how you all filled out your forms. Did you use CAPS the whole time or did you write in lower case? My fiance and I were looking at sample forms and some use all caps and others use lower case. Yah, it might not matter anyways...just curious to see how you did it and if you were approved! :D

Also, specifically on the G325a form, when my fiance (who is from England) is filling it out and it asks for the 'last address outside of the US for a year' ....does he just put his home address again--or N/A? (I hadn't thought about it b/c I have never lived outside US for more than a year so I put N/A---for him, he has obviously always lived outside the US) Thanks for any and all help!
Amanda

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport style photo-What was yours like?
Hi Everyone,
I am going over my K1 petition...about to send it off tomorrow! Now that I am thinking about it, I don't know if my passport style photo, along with my fiance's, is exactly how it should be. It says to be 3/4 frontal view but I am worried mine may not be 3/4 enough! ie not turned to the side enough. Same goes for my fiance's photo. I was wondering if anyone sent in photos of them straight on or just turned slightly to the side-like mine. Other than that, they meet the specifications. Is this really important? My fiance is actually completely straight on. eeek. Should I worry? Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRecent College Graduate-Income Requirements
Hey there!

I am a recent graduate as well and as we know, any money we ever had has gone to loans! hah ;) I just recently started my full time job which pays above the 125% poverty line and am starting to make my savings account slowly grow. I am not worried about my lack of previous full time jobs...I think that both you and I can prove that we will be able to support our honeys when they come over--the gov. won't have to worry about taking care of them. So as you said, I think that the current income is paramount.

Also, I don't believe that you will need a co-sponsor b/c you do meet the guidelines. You don't necessarily have to worry so much about it now because the I-134 doesn't need to go in the original petition you submit. You'll have to send it over to your fiance.

Lastly, I would just like to say that I am still fairly new to this process so I may be incorrect in my statements. Gosh I hope not! If so, I apologize and we can both learn ;o) If I have said anything wrong, please correct me! I'm just trying to relate to ya and let you know there are others in the same situation.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresContact numbers and touches!?
Okey dokey, I am kind of confused--this should be an easy one--when everyone refers to being 'touched', what does this mean? How do you know ifyou have been? Maybe I have been missing something. We sent in our K1 petition in March and I have received email notifications of when the petition arrived, was transferred, RFE'd...is that considered 'touched'? I've also been checking my status on the USCIS site and the note on my case is the same as the last email notification I received. If there is something else I am missing/not checking, I'd like to know! :o) Perhaps I just don't use the correct terminology!

Also, according to my timeline, it said that I *should expect* an answer on my case as early as July 10th--if it is 10 days after that date, I should try contacting the office. How can I contact the California office? The phone number listed on one of the letters I received says the number is not valid when i call. I looked up the number via the internet and it was the same and didn't work. Any ideas or help? Maybe I am jumping the gun and need to keep on being patient...I just wanted to somehow check and make sure it hadn't been lost in the shuffle or anything. I suppose I am more nervous b/c when I received an RFE a while ago (there was an ammendment or something), another lady's papers had been stuffed in the enveolope with mine! Now I can't help but worry that my letter has been stuffed in someone else's envelope? Actually, that is when I was trying to get a hold of the CA center b/c I wanted to alert them right away that I had received someone else's papers along with mine. I ended up just mailing it back to the center which sadly just added on days to this poor lady's waiting time. Hmm...sorry, I may have lost my point. Basically, how can I talk to a human at the CA center? :)
Thanks guys! Sorry if I rambled on!
