interview tricky question

I was also pretty paranoid because my previous visa application experience was unpleasant. But my experience with K1 was nice and very fast. The interview only took about 5 minutes or less. Just bring in emails, letters, pictures, phone records. My interviewer only asked for some pictures and times of our visits to various places together. There weren't any questions about intents (which are already obvious).

It might be the fastest way for both of you to be together, but you should take into consideration that it also requires you to get married so you have got to be ready for that. Also, it's not the final step you need to do, once you're in and married, you will have to file AOS, and then remove conditions. Too many people rushing it and end up with problems (don't take me wrong, many people have also have things worked out perfectly and are absolutely happy to be together with their beloved ones).

If you come in with a K-1 visa, of course that means you're getting married in the States, living in the States, working here etc etc. The "are you planning on working in the US?" question is usually given when you're applying for a tourist visa. When it comes to fiance visa, they will be asking you completely different questions.

Before applying for a fiance visa, I had applied for a tourist visa twice, and a student visa once, and got denied. But I didn't have problem at all with K-1

of course, by the time my fiance (now husband) and I applied for the K-1 visa, we'd known each other for 7 years.

Hii... i'm new in here, I just got my first RFE after waiting for my K-1 processes for 5 months, my fiance (US citizen) didn't get the mail yet and i'm thinking maybe the USCIS ask for a paper to show that we are single and never married. I would like to ask how should my fiance get that paper?. What will happen if we make mistake in the prove that the USCIS ask in the RFE?, will we get another RFE or get denial?. Thanks in advance.

I sent in pictures from the visit, several gift receipt copies, months worth of phone records through skype, all my purchase records in china, and all my flight and hotel records from the visit. I sent a pic with her parents too. I know when she has the interview she needs to bring in more things to prove that the relationship was still going, wouldn't a second visit help with that? She could bring pictures in from the second visit to show I was there since the petition. She will have a card from our anniversary to bring but what else could she bring to prove that the relationship is still ongoing?

My petition just approved and going to NVC, I met my fiance once and we engaged, we have more than 7000 messages in the facebook and skype almost everyday. I don't think the meeting while the papers in process will be a big deal, cause you have sent evidences and i don't think they need a lot of evidence from your fiancee unless they can accept the same evidences.

JULY 2012 NOA2 APPROVED....

We got approved on 24 July and received the NOA2 hard copy on 27 July. I was told to give it a 2 weeks time before calling the NVC so I am thinking to call next Monday. But hearing all the good news from all of you, I am thinking I might get a letter from NVC next week and have our case number!

We got approved on July 24 as well, let's keep each other updated.

JULY 2012 NOA2 APPROVED....

My NOA2 was approved on 7/24/2012 and was received by NVC on 7/30/2012. I called NVC on 7/31 around 6pm MST to see if they received my case and they said they received it on 7/30/2012 and gave me the case #. My K1 visa is for Jamaica.

Our NOA2 was approved on 7/24/2012 too, I'm a little confused what to do after i get the case number from NVC. Let's keep each other updated.

My fiance has called the NVC and they said they have received our case and it has forwarded to the consulate and arrived on July 3rd (faster than i thought),but my fiance didn't get the mail from the NVC yet, so what to do next?. Will the consulate notify me to start doing my visa and tell me the papers that they need to process my visa if i don't contact them?

I reveived NVC hard copy letter in mail on 08/02/2012. it reads as follows:

Dear Petitioneer:
The sate Department's National Visa Center has recenlty received an approved i129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropirate visa iisuing post where your visa interview will take place. Hi! Along with your NVC # that is the one starting with the CDJ and the #, you will need an Invoice #, that will be neccesary to submit the DS-260 (visa appication) I got the CDJ# from the invitation letter from the Consulate, and I had to call NVC to get the Invoice # and Beneficiary #, that you need for the application itself. It was hard for me to figure out the whole process, but I actually was able to submit application this week, make the payment and schedule an interview for the end of next month, now I need to work on putting everything together for the interview. Link for the DS-260 submition is ceac.state.gov/iv. Link for scheduling appointment is usvisa-info.com, for this last one you don't need to have the application submitted, you can start by registering yourself. Hope it helps.

Gather your supporting documents such as photos,receipts,evidence to show your relationship and so on. Keep these document in an organizer. Also, start planning your trip to Juarez. Research hotels, airline/bus schedule and other trip information. Decide on waiting for your visa at Juarez or having it sent to another DHL office. Get a calendar and blackout the holidays, Counsulate closure dates or other dates that will affect your stay in Juarez. I would recommend making your appointment near the beginning of a work week so you would not waste time waiting over the weekend.

Why is VSC so slow?

I'm in the same boat as JBR. Filed with the VSC on 1/17/2012, haven't gotten my NOA2 yet. I call a couple times a week, and they have told me the exact same thing for a month: i.e. they are currently processing 1/16/2012. Just called today and was told the same thing. My Senator is working the case, but it's not exactly warp speed over there either. Best of luck to everyone still waiting.

Vermont is slow, always check your status and the processing time of the office before you call them. Tell your senator , you got nothing till now.

Yes, I have checked it...and it still says 5 months, even though by all accounts, anybody on here that has applied to that office since January has not received a reply yet. Not sure how long of a period they average, but it is not a tight group. I also did contact my senator...I will be calling him back on Monday, as the response from USCIS to him was completely packaged and not accurate.

Then call again, my case was processed in California and our NOA1 was January 20 and it's now in the embassy for visa process. So your case should be in the embassy by now. I met someone with January NOA1 in Vermont and their case was going to NVC last month.

Why is VSC so slow?

Hello, I am new to this site. I stumbled on it trying to find any information other than the scripted responsed I get from the USCIS help line. I met my perfect mate in Peru, and we filed an I-129F back in February. It was received in the Vermont Service Center on February 9th. So, since then, including now...the average processing time is 5 months. I have seen it and heard it a hundred times. So, I was a good soldier, I waited with all the same feelings that many of you have had...and after 5 months, nothing. So, I began to call. I quickly discovered how "un userfriendly" USCIS is...rude, don't care, won't tell you much. I will tell you that I also work for government, so know the routine, backlogs, etc.

So, to the problem that I am worried about...the first time I called, they were able to look at a database for the workload of the Vermont Service Center. They could not tell me anything about my specific case, but they could tell me what that office was working on...since it is worked in the order received, they told me that they were working on applications from January 16. Good...I wanted to ensure things were straight (from my government experience), so I called back the next week...the date that they were working on...January 16. I called back again today...3 weeks now have passed...still working on January 16.

Now, this greatly concerns me. They have apparently stopped working on K1 visas in this office...unless they received like 10,000 of them on January 16. So, my question is do any of you know anything about this...possible reasons, or if they will pick it back up? I did look to see if it coincided with the Obama change in his policy on illegals...and that was mid-June...so it does, as I was supposed to receive word by July 9...if they stopped then, it does coincide.

If anyone can help me with any info, I would greatly appreciate it. I am getting quite depressed about this...I feel like my life has been on hold for a year.

Did you check the processing date chart and your case status?, they update the chart every 15 days, if the call didn't do much then I think you should consider to call your senator for help cause you have been waiting for 5 months. Vermont is slower than California.

I think 20-50 pictures of you together is good. California process the K1 faster than Vermont, Dallas doesn't process K1. My Fiance sent our petition to Dallas and it's transfered to California. Make a duplicate packet before you send it in and prepare yourselves for the long wait (5 months).

Letter from my dentist in Palmira that certified a teeth treatment that I got on January of 2012 and respective receipt.
invitation card to the first communion of my girlfriend's cousin.
Photos that show our relationship and that we have met the two past years.
Letters from friends that expended times with us on Palmira, Colombia.
Engaged letter that I sent to my fiancée, with a picture of her with the engaged ring

i don't have any receipts or tickets. I hope everything is ok. what do you think?

I think, your evidences are good now, but if you have tickets, the hotel receipt that you stayed during you visit, the pictures of both of you together, maybe copy of your passport front page till back is better too. Check everything carefully before you send it, a little mistake can make them send RFE or deny it. Good Luck!

What exactly is involved with a K-1?

i decided to post here because we need some information and my fiance is convinced we can do this over night, i've heard a lot of my friends talk about this prosses and they kind of scared me but not enough to run away i love this man we too much ;)we've been together over a year now and we want to start this journey, i'm a little worried because we dont really know what do, he's been working a lot lately and hasnt had time to look things up, i'd like to know if its not too much to ask, what exactly is that we have to do first, to start.

if you have all of the requirements then just do it. The requirements are mostly the same in every country and make sure you have everything that they need and check your application carefully before you send and have the duplicate with you. Good luck!

ICE will not take any action unless a serious threat exists or a crime against society has been committed.

Even then it's questionable.

No, the bar code will not be the same, as the bar code contains the information that you add on to the form; therefore, if you changed/corrected the information by generating a second form, the bar code will be different than the first one.

Do I need legalized Birth Certificate?

So I finally started translating all my documents for the interview.

On the letter from the embassy they stated that the docs have to be translated only, they do not need them legalized.

However, I was wondering if on a later stage a legalized translated copy of my Birth Certificate will be needed?

My problem is that if it is needed, I will have to get a new BC which will take forever, as mine is "too old to be legalized" =/

Based on my experience,No, you don't need to submit the affidavit with I-129f. You will need the affidavit when you have the interview at the embassy, but it's better to have it ready as the papers might take a while to complete. Good luck!

Does that mean facebook/Skype/records of phone calls and phone cards don't count? We met while we were studying in school, we never had an apartment together. We also have not yet had any bills together or any sort of joint account. We were planning to submit at least 30-40 pictures from before, during and after our engagement, at least 10 letters from our friends and family, the giant record of facebook/skype/phone card conversations. Is this not enough? What else can we do?

Your evidences are good enough, but if you have your tickets to show that you have visited each other, receipt from the post office that you have contact each other, those would be better.

Sent in my K1 visa today Saturday(10/27) with USPS express mail to Texas. Should be arriving Monday. How long does an approval usually take?

It takes 3 - 5 months for them to make the decission (approved/denied) but if you got RFE (Request For Evidence), it might takes longer than that. If you don't get any update from them after 5 months, you can call them.
