Mexico, Latin & South AmericaPlane Tickets from LIMA TO JFK
Go to Lan.com and instead of using the USA site, use the "Peru" site. Significantly cheaper, 50% cheaper on flights from Lima to Cusco and also cheaper from JFK to Lima (direct too!!)

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaSending Money to Peru
QUOTE (GueraYTavo @ Apr 10 2008, 12:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My mom is a secondary user on my credit card and there is no problem with it, they didn't even ask for a passport number nor a SSN, i just gave them her name. I just pay whatever she charges on it.

I'd kinda rather avoid the whole credit card issue. Many places that she would use the card/money wouldn't take credit card anyway.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaSending Money to Peru
What is the best way to send money to Peru? I've been using Moneygram, but would like to find a more efficient way to send money to my fiancee's family once she comes to the States with me. I was thinking of opening a savings account at Citibank (which exists in Peru as well as NY) and giving her family a debit card. Any advice would be appreciated!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Visa Approved!!!
Erika and I got our approval at the US embassy in Lima today!! Other than electrifying my nerves with a death stare when she saw that my previous passport was mutilated (it went through the wash last year) and replaced, our interviewer was very cordial and friendly, telling us stories from days of yorn and about her experiences. We spent about two hours at the embassy and other than the required documents, we were only asked for pictures and emails, which were both reviewed by the interviewer and we had to answer some simple questions about them. We also had to answer questions about how we met, but those are a piece of cake, right??

So, we are very excited and Erika is excited to be coming to New York with me for her 29th birthday this Friday!

Thanks for all the help in the past!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFlight + Layover After Visa is Received in Peru
I was wondering if anyone can tell me approximately how much time it takes to get the visa stamp in a Peruvian passport after the interview (assuming that everything goes well). I am in the process of trying to book flights for my fiance and I to return to JFK and am curious about that.

Also, and more importantly because of the outrageous prices for flights these days, does anyone know if a visa for Mexico is required for a layover in Mexico City (we will not be leaving the airport)? I know that I do not need a visa, but just wondering if my fiance would ! Thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWorking on a K1
My question is not about whether or not she can work, I have already confirmed that she can. My question is more about whether or not she needs a SSN to work and, if so, how long after she arrives can she apply for this?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWorking on a K1
I understand from my research on Visajourney that my fiancee can work on a K1, which is great news! My question is what is actually required in order to get a job in the USA? I take it for granted and don't really know what's needed. For example, will she require a SSN? If so, can she go to the Social Security Administration office the day after she arrives to get a number, or does she need to wait? Any advice would be great. Thanks!!!
