Asia: East and Pacificthai interview
Hello everybody

I wanted to comment on thai embassy we found them nice and doing there job.I think they see so many
thai american couples with such large age differences I' am sure they looking close to the relationships. In my hotel i seen 7 out of 10 couples the girl look like she was 17 or 18 and the guys 45 to 50+ and these were not
one night stands they where checking out with bags ,,Yes its none of embassy business as to the relationship
but come on if i worked there i would be raising an eye brow if these are truly going to work in the long run..
We started our journey a year ago and had our interview this week.I had only been to see her once
as my father had a stroke last year when i had planned another trip there. And iam glad i flew in this week for the interview because yes they did question the fact .and we did produce all the paper work to show fathers hostipal
stay. This i feel helped a lot..and the fact i was there also helped as they wanted to see me in person. For those using msn to chat ,,all your log chats are stored where you default your downloads it will show up under your
user name ,I found ours all the way back to day one of our chats a year and half worth..what we did was copy and paste what we wanted them to see and left off everything else...we did make a cd of all chat in case they wanted
to see or seen where the gaps where on talk...Yes we felt some was none of there business too.But just in case,we had all emails too and did the same had censored and all copies too.. I was lucky i was using a calling card called callingcard .com and they kept all records of pin use back 6 months and history of buying back one year..so i was able to produce about 60 or 70hours of talk time too.. I make way over provety level so that was not a problem, have house ,401k..life insurance.medical ,,etc,,,etc,,they approve her visa but not her daughters
so we are stuck for awhile until we find father get him to sign paper work..i dont know how hard yet will know
in the coming weeks...we seen some people in interview lie and get caught so please dont lieeeee
embassy is connected to all computers they know everything really!! tell truth than work out some kind of explaining better if bad up front and you have some way of telling your side than to lie and they shut you
off right away!!! there is no appeals court with embassy...anyway good luck to all

Ok... After 4 trips to Saigon, The consulate has stopped the dance for documents and has issued my wife a pink slip.

Informing her to return on the 31st of March to pick up Visa.

Has anybody been misled at this point? Is it another tease?

Congrats!

we got issued a white slip from thailand embassy but no where on sheet does it say send back
to u.s and request denial.we are dealing with a child from another man and the box at bottom says denied
need more documention on child and says we have one year to summit. No other boxs are marked
134 or relationship nothing., they even called my fiancee on her cell later in the day asking for here to come back in
of course we were excited thinking they made some kind of mistake..but the guy that interviewd her just
wanted to say that he wants her to find father have him file out paper work to meet the req..for u.s passport
and come back and he will look over and talk about approving...so that made my trip to the airport a lot more cheerful

good luck to you

Congrats, paintbrush! biggrin.gif

I have some questions about the USEM in Bangkok. We're doing a CR-1 and are currently waiting for our interview date. Just got case complete the other day. How long do you think before we get a date?

Also, what questions do they ask at the pre-screening? How long is it? What do they ask at the actual interview and for how long? Do they interview both of you? Are the questions practically the same regardless if it's K1, K3 or CR-1/IR-1?

If they read emails and stuff, how many pages of emails and chats do they like to see? Is it okay to bring a photo album instead of just pictures?

I'm assuming one turns over all the evidences during the pre-screening, then they call you and review the items in front of you during the interview?

Is there a fee for the actual CR-1 visa (besides the IV fee paid during NVC)?

hello a0 cons
sorry this is first time for us too ,i dont know anything about cr-1 i know our last package came and we sent
back and about 2 weeks we got interview date and phone call.the interview quetions seem to be different for everybody they ask the basic where ,we met ,when and how long ago, they ask her questions about me where work live etc.it lasted about 45 mintues..who knows how many e-mails etc are enough? i would put everything you got in there ,if its 500 put it in there the more the better..if you meet fiancial reg, etc they are at the interview
stage asking you to prove your relationship the most, and to clear up and any questions they might have i think they already go over files weeks before interview and have a idea how they will judge before you get there.
we brought photo album..i dont know about fees other than the fees for 129f

good luck to you both chris

Tell your fiancee to relax the guy is nice he may make facial movements when
he talks to her about something but thats just his personality. And dress nice no hard rock

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionthai embassy
Hello everyone!

Well my girl had her interview tuesday morning and i flew in to be there,And all this talk about this new
guy being not nice was not true with us.We actually found him to be nice and funny and made my girl
very comfortable. And even though he said all of our paper work was great no problems the problem
is with her daughter by a jerk of a american running around planting his seed where he may!! He even
had them call her later in the day to come back and talk more about daughter,,We went to u.s side
of embassy to talk with a very nice lady named jen and she told us what we have to do.Hopefully we can find father and get done ..They said come back and they give us the visa.So we happy with the way things went
we knew had a problem with daughter but feel good all none the less...We seen some girls that lied and got caught there so please dont lie they know everything really!!!

p.s maybe think twice about bringing home any dried or add water food !!! i brought some back to keep
here at house till she gets here and wowwwwwwww did customs love me i guess they thought i was bringing drugs
in and had a long wait explaining what it was and what all toys i brought back for daughters show and tell.
why i was there only 5 days where i had been ,,they even want to know where i meet her when,,where etc.
made a nice time after 28hours flying,,, just a thought

First i want to say i love this site so much good info...I met my girl on line at a single parent
site we both have beautiful daughters....and We love kids and plan on having one of our own together!!
we met about 15 monthes ago and text,,chat talk on phone or e-mail everyday...and our daughters wink
and make faces at each other over the cams so much fun...we started our paper work back in march of 2008
after my daughter and I spend 2 weeks in thailand with her and her daughter..now today they call about
interview end of month...I have two problems ..first one is that my dad got sick earlier this past year having a stroke and that stopped me from making my second visit to her...along with slowing work in america didnt help either...now her daughters real dad is a bit of a butt...He uses her as a reason to come in and out of thailand...He has signed off on her passport but hes not wanting to sign off on 100% custody to allow us to take her to u.s with us...we have proof from thai government that my fiancee has supported her 100% all along with know money from him...he has not seen her in person in 3 years ,,,

so what can we do to get around him???? if we call him now after all this time and ask him for
his approval i sure he will play some kind of game ...so he gets something out of it...or just be plain mean
so we have problems,,,,any help would be great!!!

our time frame almost one year to the date,,,for first file to interview

thanks chris
This is s serious situation as you know. If you want usable info from people here you will have to provide clear information to base the advise on. Otherwise you will get wild speculation. I'm sure its on its way.
Examples. He signed off on her passport. Does he work in the Thai government passport office? He has zero to do with her passport. Uses her to come in & out of Thailand. What does that mean? Uses who? The daughter? Proof from the govenment about the 100 % support of the child? What form does that take? The Thai government doesnt provide such proof.
In Thailand it is common for people not to be married & yet refer to each other as husband or wife. Was she actually married to him? This will make a huge difference.
The games have already begun. In these situations its common for the father to attempt extorsion tactics. It isnt a matter of being mean; its about money.
The child has a passport. When was it issued? Is her last name different than her mothers?
Done right & with the correct information his permission will not be needed. We didnt need the fathers permission to bring my wifes daughter because we had a clear understanding of how this can be done in Thailand.
You can bring the little girl here. Forget what you think the father might do. He cant do anything due to his past behaviour. You just need to know how to present the info to the right people at the right time.
When Rin went to get passports for her children, we were told both parents have to sign for a minor's passport in Thailand. For Rin to get passports for her children she needed their father's signature (they were never married at the amphur - lived as husband and wife for seven years). Since he could not be located, Rin had to go to the local amphur where she lived along with two people that knew her (sister and cousin, in her case) and sign an affidavit stating that she was 100% responsible for taking care of the children. The next day she took that affidavit and was able to get their passports. She did not need the affidavit for anything else (i.e. the US Embassy did not require any proof that she had 100% custody).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch 2009 K1 Filer

I know, bummer on the estimated time changing by more than 2 months. Lame...

I think I'm the only one who is relieved that the waiting is in the hands of the USCIS and not in my hands. The delay is the government's fault not mine. For me personally when I graduated from college I had to get established with a job and address before I could file the papers--THAT waiting was torture, I felt like a failure when things didn't fall into place immediately, etc. It took me 2 years to get to the point where I could file so it's a relief even if my case is PENDING

At least this way I have done everything and now it's the USCIS' turn to do something. It's more infuriating than heartbreaking for me now. Like when people were getting approved so fast, I was hopeful, but now that the time has seemingly slowed down, I think, "oh, so those people's applications were so much more special than mine? what-the-F-ever" There's no point in thinking like that, but the 4-year-old part of my brain thinks "no fair....."

Anyway whatever I'm going to the beach smile.gif
I know we all feel like our applications are the only ones they have to look at
but if you look at government wedsite they have 1 million more apps than last year and they are moving people around to meet the target time frame of 6 months , I am sure its not so easy to just look at our packages and say ok their approved. And 911 didnt help us either.
i would us the down time to get everything together emails ,phone records everything u can think of...

good luck to you two and relax it will start rolling

Actually I'm going to go with that I think the number I thought it was is wrong. The more I look at it, some of the digits look like letters, some I can't figure out at all, so once we have the NOA1 it should help lol.
if you are as impatient as i was, if you can read some of it, you could probably guess the rest! ((yea, i spent wayyyy too long trying to do that, but i couldnt read any of the last 4 numbers haha))
Lol. I am very much impatient. I was up until about 1:30 trying a bunch of different combinations. Are all the digits after WAC numbers or are some of them letters? Bah, guess I will have to wait till the paper gets here. I assume the NOA1 is shortly before/after the cheque is cashed...so maybe we might get the letter next weekish?
[/quote

all of ours was numbers after wac ..is that a comfirmation they got the check or a confirmation they approved your pack? took us about 2 weeks before we seen anything on website ..we never checked for touches etc., about 3 months after they sent first letter of getting check we got approval letter .and said they were sending from calif to back east.
than about mid dec they sent letter stating sending on to thailand..,my fiancee got call in first part of april giving us about 3 weeks to the interview date at end of month. So for us it took almost one year start to finish...

this is california to thailand

wish you two speedy time frame!!!!

It is like that at many consulates, where they will not let the USC in for the interview.

It was okay.. I understand not letting me into the interview or even the consular section but I thought they would let me go in and sit outside in the general waiting area they have.. Not allowing me into the embassy at all was really discouraging to both me and my wife; maybe more to her because she is 9 months pregnant and carrying everything was difficult. BUT, we got it and I am happy regardless. I was just really hot!

Thanks Ricker

YOUR right as in other reply about being more clear.Yes of course I know more trips the better,I should
have asked the question different I was wanting to know how many people in thai embassy passed with only
one visit verse's people with many.Thats what I meant by (ding )I was married to a girl from singapore
for 11 years and we never needed all this at this stage of relationship. She could come and go as she felt to the u.s
when ever she wanted. We only needed to go to interview in san fransico after she had been here a year and we were already married. And they only asked for tax returns, marriage cert, how we met done!
So maybe other poster was right they have already made up there mind already by the time we get to interview end of month.

And if there were a lot of people failing with just one visit we would try to be stronger in making a case in that
area..BUt by the tons of post i have seen since looks like this interview is going to be really hard.

thanks agian everybody that has posted

blink.gif I just PCS'ed to Pearl Harbor. HI from Yokosuka, Japan. So I dont have no one to check my mail. I have this security at my building so no one can actually get into my apartment complex without a electronic key. Right now, My unit is on their way back to Pearl Harbor. I will try to call the USCIS/NVC to see if I have anything wrong. I always presumed that, if you get your NOA1, you will receive your NOA2 maybe like 2 months after that? Is that wrong? I'm new to all this marriage stuff and timelines. wacko.gif

I want to thank you all for all the feedback. It really helps me out alot.

Regards,

Somewhat not as confused no more "Sailor" kicking.gif

If you fill out your timeline we can help a bit more. Right now it depends on where you filed. I assume with CSC if you are in Hawaii. If thats the case the NOA2 can be any time from 31 days to a few months currently, but if she says it got there in feb, you could be hearing back on your NOA2 any time. However this too would be mailed to your address, she wouldn't hear anything until her consulate has sent her the packet 3. I wouldnt panic that something went wrong, but call USCIS and see if they can give you a receipt number as that would be on your NOA1 which is probably sitting in your mail box atm, with no one to check it to say that its there for you. From your original post it sounds like she is concerned that you haven't recieved any information, which you may have but cant check it. Even with knowing your NOA1 reciept number it will probably not tell you anything useful on the USCIS website or on the phone about where exactly your case is processing wise. The approvals dont always go in order due to things like background checks and the complexity of the case (divorced vs never married, kids included etc), so I would tell her not to panic if people are getting it ahead of her yet as the NOA2 wouldn't be until maybe the 10th of Feb if it just arrived at CSC on the 8th of Feb. Thats only just coming up on 60 days, and right now VJ is showing 80-some days expected for approvals. Hope this helps a bit more!

Wow that would be great if u could use service to speed up k1..But for me i sent of first package april 15,2008
I recieved letter saying they got july 16,2008 around oct 2008 i got approval letter and they where sending package to thailand
my fiance got her package 3 in dec 2008 and we filed out send back in around mid jan 2009 ,got phone call march 17 2009
to look out for interview letter and make sure have all docs ready and come in on march31 2009 for interview
so i has taken almost one year from start to finish.Of course we are not finished as we hit a road block with her child
so were tryimg to solve this and get back to embassy...

Last time I was in Thailand, I was looking for good cheap rates from BKK to the U.S. as well. I stumbled onto moxtravel.com. I haven't used them yet, but I doubt you'll find lower prices anywhere else online. I'm seeing 20k THB to LAX one-way right now. That seems pretty cheap.

or round trip? our fiancee's are coming on a 90 day visa ..when my girl went to europe some years back on
a one way she almost did not get in , they wanted to see a return ticket.I am thinking they will do the same here? just curious.. most of the round trip are only about 300 more than one way so am thinking better safe the
sorry.

good luck chris

rsn I just saw your timeline and felt the pain of being slapped around by the VSC. It was bound to happen sooner or later I just hope I can get to sleep now... wacko.gif

Funny, I didn't have trouble sleeping until after I got my NOA2. tongue_ss.gif

rsn i agree with above post .We just through our interview on the 31st and i believe other than the proof
of relationship you show at interview they have already made a decision months ago..we sent in all proofs of relationship
emails, photos, plane tickets etc with the packages when they asked..in the last package they asked agian ,i got together msn chat
logs going back 15 months average talk 15 hours a month, phone records .pictures etc agian emails where maybe 150 pages
at the most..split half and half (hers and mine)

rsn RELAX TAKE DEEP BREATH we were freaked out by all this talk how hard this guy was on and on,But
ricker told me if everything is in order nothing to worry about and he was right.THis is what going to happen when you get to interview your going to go in and she going to hand package to window.the girl at counter going to take and open in front of her
making sure everything on check list is there,,so go over and over this list make sure you have everything, and have it in the order
the asked, its with the letter they will send you for interview. At the interview anywhere from right away to all day ours took
4 hours before we were called.the interviewer and two thai girls stand there the man starts off asking the basic questions
where you met and how many times i come to see and what do i doing for living ,where i live etc ..than he looks through
emails and text messages while he asks what we talk about when we chat,,(this is why i feel they already made up there mind
the just randomly look through emails, text,,phone records, spending about 15 at the most looking )the thai girls flip through
photo album more like she was using it to cool her self off than to really be looking at the pics.when asked a question about
your relationship have your fiancee go on and on about the answer.Thats what mine did and he finally told her ok enough..(haha)
the whole interview took 45 minutes.
we were denied because of a problem we have with her daughters father and we are trying to fix and take
back as fast as we can.the reason I feel this guy is nice is because of course we where upset with the denial we figured
we would have a problem with this from the start the guy had the thai girls call my fiancee later in the day and say she needs to come back in redo finger prints. When she got there the next day he said he was glad to see her again and that the finger prints
was not the only reason. he wanted to reasure her that he was going to approve the visa if we can get the father issue fixed.
so that was nice he didnt have to say anything really but i feel he's a kind soul doing a rough job,.
rsn i think you have plenty of emails .text,,etc does hurt to throw everything in there you can but dont worry you have enough!!!!!! I think what I would do is you two go over and over your bio stuff make sure she knows everything about you she can
work..job,address,home town, family these are also important and normal stuff a fiancee should know and they also ask!

good luck
chris

Thanks for taking the time to post this. It probably is severe overkill to submit 1000 pages of evidence, so after some thought and considering comments from others such as yourself on VJ, I'm going to come up with a much more reasonable number of pages of evidence (I think). As far as bio stuff, I went over a bunch of questions with my fiancee, and I was surprised with her answers. She knew a bunch of stuff I didn't expect her to remember/know about me. She even remembers my middle name. Aside from my parents, no one remembers or can pronounce my middle name! I hope you and your SO get your approval soon. Best of luck to you two, I'll keep you in my thoughts. Thanks again for your input Chris.

Edit: I didn't respond earlier because for some reason Gmail marked this as spam. Weird.

Come up with an amount of evidence that you feel comfortable with. Take all of the extra pages, documents that you feel might not be necessary, anything else that you feel could be overkill, and place it all in a second folder. Have your fiance submit a main folder at the interview.... and if they end up asking for more .... she just might have what they are asking for in the "extra" folder. Anyway, this is what we did.

Good Luck,
DVD

thats right dvd !!! i forgot to mention we did that with our censored and uncensored emails texts etc.. we felt that they only need to see our conversations that was of use to them..But any conversations we felt private we deleted but still had at interview too in case they ask about gaps in talking..

thanks rsn we found the father last night but he's starting his games agian he's only an hour away
from bkk but he' wants money for ticket to fly..So looks like am buying his ticket. You think this guy would do somthing for his daughter once in her life!!! sorry blowing off a little steam!! anyway if he comes in and signs my two loves would be here any day...

agian good luck to you two

just wanted also say rsn they have 2.5 million applications this year up from 1.5 milion last year
so they are over loaded with cases iam sure, they said they where trying to move people around to lessen the case loads.
but if they sent your pack of to bkk .about 2 months you get your pack for the 134 ,and list of more things you need to fill
out .than about 2 month later you get phone call and last pack with medical forms and another list of thinks to bring.
to inteview when they call they will give date of interivew over phone.

A few questions:

1.) I read on the embassy page here at VJ that the police clearance takes about a week. Still accurate?
2.) Do you have to schedule your medical exam ahead of time, or can you just walk in? Do you have to wait days for results, or after you leave is it done? Do they give you something to give to the officer at the interview?
3.) On the embassy's website, it seems to suggest that unless you are the interviewee, you cannot even wait in the waiting area with your fiancee, but I seem to remember others saying they did in fact wait with their fiancee, but I can't remember exactly. Can someone comment on this?
4.) I have read that sometimes you need "packet 3" to show to the police to get your certificate, in addition to the NOA2, and a copy of my passport, and possibly a letter of intent from me. I cannot personally sign these yet. Is that ok? Also, why do you need to show them packet 3? Isn't packet 3 just a bunch of forms that you can download off the website anyway?

Thanks!

1) Takes between a week and 2 weeks ours, took 10 days
2) Just walk in and they give you a sealed X-Ray envelope to take to the embassy.
3) They will not let you inside the embassy, you have to wait outside.
4) Packet 3 is a bunch of papers, but there is a cover page with your BNK number etc. We just needed the NOA2 and a copy of my passport bio page.

Ok, I'm assuming it's safe to send my fiancee to Bangkok with a color-copy of the NOA2 and a color copy of my passport bio page, correct? Also, she can get the medical exam before packet 3 arrives from the embassy, right?

hello rsn

Yes looks like aaron answered all your questions. But i might add about the cost it was around $5000
baht for exam and shots etc.We had child so we had to pay a total of 9600 baht.. dont use the forms
on website they say expired 2004 .we paid 20 baht for forms at the hostipal..and yes takes all day.
also when paying the $131 u.s fee at post office make sure fiancee keeps receipt in safe place you will need at interview. We thought child fee was covered under fiancee visa but it was not and moved us from first in line .To around noon as we had to run across street and pay for child, than come back.

good luck to you rsn

you can go in and sit with your fiancee as i did ,yes let her go in first
find a sit for both and you walk to the right up the walk way to the united states services door
walk through that door and turn right into the waiting room..i would try and sit upfront if you can
as they did ask to see me..

good luck chris

The American Services Unit is only open during certain hours and on particular days. You still have to give the guard outside the embassy door the reason you are going into the embassy. I am guessing you didn't tell them you were going to sit with your fiancee?

Yes Aaron you are right. The quard asked what my business was today I said we had
interview at the time i had know idea only she could go in to actual interview but they let me into the areas
outside of windows 2 and 3 ,, with the chairs.And yes they're open till 11p.m than agian from 1 - 3 p.m
but the doors where open and i needed to ask questions there anyway.I never intended to sneak in i had no
idea i was doing wrong..at the time i went to ask questions i didnt know amercian services door open into the
lobby of the interview area.. chris
