ok a bit more on yesterdays events smile.gif

Well I’m home in Melbourne and I’ve slept lol was really hot in Sydney yesterday was 38C (100F) was so glad to finally get home to a cooler Melbourne, plane was delayed by 45 min though ><

Day started early, real early, bed in the hotel was hard so I didn't sleep too well, was up about 3am. No internet as they say it was working but nothing would download (spent an hour or two the night before with the tech ><) so I watched some TV until about 6 then hunted down some breakfast, ended up at McDonalds, ate that and returned to my room, door wouldn't open, back down to reception, he does something to the card, back up, still no joy, back down to reception, says sounds like the battery is flat in the door (omg is this how the days going to be like, i start to think) he comes up with me and opens the door say I'll have to come get one of them to open the door till they can get the battery replaced later (#######?) so i go and get ready for the interview.

I check out of the hotel at 9am (interview was at 10am and store everything at reception but the paperwork and my phone, head to Consulate and get there about 9:15am get to reception (Level 10 MLC centre) and they say I need to check in my phone there (level 10). The paper work/proof of relationship stuff goes through x-ray and I go through the metal detector and I then get sent to level 59 and I take a number for k visa then sit down and wait for my number to be called.

What seems like an eternity later (15 min? my phone is my time piece lol) I get called to a window, girl asks for the stuff they ask for in packet 4 (passport, 3kg return address satchel, receipt of payment for visa) she takes my finger prints and asks me some more stuff and she says to go back and sit down and that I’ll be called to another window for the interview soon.

Another eternity later (30 min?) I get called to another window, give another finger print (just one and told to raise my right hand and swear that what I tell her is the truth. she asks me questions, most of which if written on the forms, like where Cindy lived and what she does for work, how we met, what interests she has, general stuff. then she got me to sign the form and she said those magic words "Visa approved"!!

I was shaking when I left and very emotional, got my phone back, talked to Cindy told her the news, rang my parents, and in form a multitude of people both in Australia and in the US of the outcome smile.gif

So the day started out bad, but the middle bit, though nerve racking, turned out good biggrin.gif

So now it's off to the US on the 20th november, Marrying on the 25th, Honeymooning in Florida after Thanks giving biggrin.gif (yes disney world tongue.gif)

I'd say don'y be nervous about the interview, but who are we kidding lol, its hard not to be. My words of advice, be prepared and things will go well smile.gif

Going by my calculation, all the interviews are on a tuesday, and the date is usally the second tuesday after they recieve packet 3.


awesome thanks, we might wait and send packet 3 in on the 14th of december then. That would only be 2 weeks after getting his medical back from dr. charles. So not to bad, and I wont miss christmas with my kids.


Thing is do they close over Christmas? will they do interviews between christmas new years? as if you sent it on the 14th, they would get packet 3 on the 15th Dec and making the 29th Dec as the date of your possible interview, but it could be the 5th Jan if they don't do interviews over the chrismas break

Finally they emailed us (not me but my fiancee) so we got the email 15 hours after it was sent, cause my fiancee just went to bed when they sent it, but thats ok, it is Tuesday 3rd November like i figured biggrin.gif

Thing is with the check is that one of you might have a name similar or the same as someone that doesn't have a good record and they are making sure its not the same person, or its something else, they never say why your in AP. They may even randomly pick someone out of the pile to do AP on ><

Yeah they don't always reply, i send them an email asking a question and never got a reply.

In my case packet 3 was emailed to my Fiancee in the US (even though they had mine on file) so if there was an email address on the I-129F, that is where they should send it too. Guessing if they don't have an email address they will post it to the Ausstralian address on the I-129F.

Yeah Cindy went to the post office and they tracked it through the customs declaration and its in customs here atm, she did find out it was "priority post" she sent it (6-10 days) wich was perfect if it had arrived on time >< got the police check yesterday, just waiting on the I-134 now as i have everything else.

shipping question from the states, Cindy sent the I-134 (and the copies of everything) to me on the 2nd October, she has no tracking number, i fear its been sent the slowest way possable (first class mail), should i start to worry and get her to get it all together again and send it again? what are other peoples experiances with first class mail from the states to Australia? how long does it normally take?

its been almost 2 weeks and no sign of it, the police check has been sent and will arrive tomorrow, i have the medical, just waiting on the I-134, had it all planned to arrive about the same time then i find out how it was sent and i'm startig to panic ><

Went in to see Dr. Charles...he was pretty quiet and not interested in much conversation other than what the medical required. He asked me the normal questions about where i was going to go and live, where my wife lives (i made sure to correct him with fiancee instead of wife) my job etc...
For the medical checkup with him it was relatively quick...he checked my eyes and ears, felt around the glands in my neck... then he had me sit on the bench so he could check my breathing. The whole time i was stressing like crazy over having blood taken...that sends fear through me more than just about anything! I have quite the history of passing out or throwing up after that....i'm a tough guy i know laughing.gif
I had a blood pressure reading before the needle (too high) after the needle (too low!) then 20 mins later (perfect). The woman who gave me the blood test was great, i let her know how i hate needles and that i don't deal with them too well, so she had me lay down and have it taken. So i got up and went to the X-ray room next...then felt the cold sweats start like i was about to pass out...but managed to get through it in one piece tongue.gif
The X-ray was straight forward, take off your shirt, breathe in and it was over. Finally i had my shots, a rubella/measles shot and a tetanus booster.
Grand total $425 blink.gif

All i can say is that goodness that's done with....along with the Sydney interview this was my biggest fear!


yeah i had mine last Friday and picking it up from him today, my experiance with him was the same, didn't want to talk lol but you left out the main thing "How old are you?" he much have asked me 4-5 times, and even yesterday when i talked to him on the phone twice yesterday he asked me "hoe old are you?" my birthday was on the 1st and well i was glad I got it right every time lol smile.gif

Quiet quick wedding, I still want something nice and romantic smile.gif then a bigger get together around May/June when the weather is nicer and better chance of people being able to make it smile.gif

food wise, mainly vegemite and tim tams, but with the latter, we can soon buy them off the shelves in the states for atleast 6 months of the year biggrin.gif

so just a couple of suitcases is all your taking or you're shipping stuff too? i'm looking at costs of shipping stuff at the moment to the US, its not cheap lol

So they will accept a police check dated befor the NOA2? thats what i'm worried at, is paying for it and having to do it again as it was "out of date" I know the medical is ok to do early as its valid for a year, but hold off on that a bit longer as i know i need to use it again once there for the next round of paper work ><

hmmm how much vegemite are you taking? atm i have 2 700g jars ready, but was wondering about the catering pack lol
Talking to a freind who ships vegemite to her BF in the states that if you get someone to post you some, get them to post the tubes as the glass jars weigh to much and its more cost effective to send the tubes smile.gif

My advise, send a letter/email to your governor and other federal representative, during my AOS I was getting a similar run around when my AOS went way past the processing times and We went the political intervention route and found out my file was some how split in two and in two different states and it was going know where fast. It took the governor's liaison to find this out and get things moving again, soon after it was finally approved. Try this route, it may help, and they may find out what is going on. Good luck Mate.

Well #######. I got an envelope from USICS and I was all excited, convinced that this was finally it. It wasn't. I got a freaking RFE. The notice date is Feb 4th. I will keep you posted and let you know when I submit all the stuff they want. I'm so incredibly upset.

Congrats to everybody else though. What a relief it must be :dance:

It would appear that the filers at VSC are getting processed ROC faster than CSC which appears to have much slower processing times. Yuck!


yeah I noticed that, and Vermont was meant to be that slower center of the two.

Hmmm - I'm getting ready to send in for my husband's ROC (GC expires 06/23/12) - but a lot of things like the title to our home and proof of joint residence was sent in our original application - do I need to actually re-send all that stuff? This is what I have so far...

  • Signed copy of I-751 application by both of us
  • Check of $590.00 for both filing and biometrics fee
  • Copy of his GC (Front and back)
  • Joint tax returns(Years: 2010 & 2011)
  • Copy of Life insurance with us listed as beneficiaries
  • Various photo's of the two of us over the last 2 years
  • Joint Checking & Savings account for past 18 months
  • Affidavits from friends and family


They are looking for financial ties, send everything that shows that, have any joint utility bills? even if you have sent it before, send it again :)

G'day all,

My GC will expire on 8/6/2012, so i'll be sending my file in on 5/7/2012.

  • Signed copy of I-751 application by both of us
  • Check of $590.00 for both filing and biometrics fee
  • Copy of my GC (Front and back)
  • Joint tax return transcripts (Years: 2009,2010 & 2011)
  • Title to our house with both names on it
  • Copy of from bank manager about seeing us together regularly, our joint accounts and car loan
  • Copy of our health plan card
  • Copy of our NC Drivers License with same address
  • Copy of joint memberships to Sam'd Club, SCA, Starfleet
  • First-aid cards from the training in First-aid we did together and letter from Trainer stating he had trained us together.
  • Copy of House and Car insurance with both our name.
  • Copy of Qantas flight itinerary confirmation from our trip to Australia in 2010, and tickets to the tramcar restaurant we went to while there, with both out name on it.
  • Various photo's of the two of us over the last 2 years


My file will be sent to Vermont, so a long wait is expected.

just filled out paper work for the license and a form saying i didn't have a SS#
