US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-864 for Sponsor not living in U.S.
Yes there serious
But you should contact the irs and tell them your situation being that you just came here a year ago and get them to give you a letter stating that you are not responsible for taxs for the other 2 yrs and yes file for this year. Then you can send the letter with your documents. Make a copy for yourself always. Good luck to you.

We have filed an I-130 for my Husband (Australian now in Canada). We have received the NOA. Now it's time to look ahead to the next level of paperwork!

I have seen mention elsewhere that I (a dual Canadian/American Citizen) am going to have to provide 3 years worth of U.S. tax returns? I hope there is some way around this....

I also read on the USCIS website that I might only be asked for the most recent year.

I only had my U.S. Citizenship documented this year (that is a whole other paperwork story), I have never lived in the U.S. and never worked in the U.S..

They don't seriously want me to file a U.S. tax return? If so, should I go ahead and file for 3 years, or just for last year.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespay stub+3tax years?
let me say hello to you and good luck first

Yes it can be asked that your wife provide that information yes it sounds stupid because they have received information already about her income. Also tell her to send verification of employment from her job in a seal envelope. I provided the same information but in the end they asked for pay check stubs so I sent that to my husband we are still waiting for the conclusion of his interview. So don't think that this will make things quicker be patient because I think this is there way of making you wait longer for visa. Now there saying my husband case is going through adminstrative processing we have been waiting for 6 months. I hope this do not happen to you its a long process. Good luck to you and takecare.

HI TO ALL,

intending to have a cosponsor and want to know about 2 points :

1- is it necessary for the cosponsor to put her 3 most recnt tax years or the most recent one of 2006 is enough?

2- Does the cosponsor and the petioner (my wife) have to include their most recent pay stub ?

MANY THANKS

For question 1, you may have to put last 3 year's tax return info for I-864, but you only need to "include" latest/recent year tax return info for I-864 attachment/evidence.

For question 2, not necessarily, but when you have interview, you may want to bring those pay stubs along with last 3 year's tax return as additional evidence just in case.
