K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 2010 K-1 VSC

Thanks for the advise. I did call but those people dont have a clue about our paperwork, they are trained to answer 14 questions, they dont have real access to our files, so they cant even see the address on file for me. I registered my cellular phone and email address so that when they approve the case, I will be notified right away. I do have a concern about not receiving important documents but I also see all over the threads people missing NOA1's.

Insist on talking to the immigration office. They will say no, but do insist.

OMG!!!! That just got my heart racing!!! I have been so miserable waiting for my NOA1 and never received it, gave up on it since I can see on the website Initial Review. But now seeing that 4/1/2010 approved!! Man that just raised my hopes!!!. Its so hard for all of us here and I guess this is the best place to vent since everyone here knows how hard it is to have the one you love, the one that makes you so happy, so far away from you. Some days its just painful......Good luck everyone hopefully next month we'll all be approved!!!!!!! :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance:

No worries first month is a difficult one. Then you get used of it ;) You might want to call USCIS and find out why you never received NOA1. You don't want to miss other documents they will send you in the future.

USCIS Transitions the Intake Function to Lockbox Network for Several Benefit Requests
May 25th, 2010

WASHINGTON – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced that it will be transitioning the intake function of several more forms from the Service Centers to its Lockbox network. By centralizing form and fee intake to a Lockbox environment, USCIS will improve consistency and integrity in the intake process.

The forms scheduled for the transition:

– I-817, Application for Family Unity Benefits (If filing under section 301 of the Immigration Act of 1990);
– I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur ;
– I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status (Only those filed separately from the I-129);
– I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiance ;
– I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker.

The transition will start mid-May with the Service Centers forwarding applications to the USCIS Dallas and Phoenix Lockbox facilities for processing. In June, USCIS will post the revised filing instructions, update the web page for each form, and announce the address change with a USCIS Update.

Throughout the transition period and up to the point where USCIS formally announces the new filing addresses, customers with concerns should contact the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

I heard USCIS is going to focus on student and work visas, so they can get people in before Fall 2010 semester starts. That makes sense why processing time went up on USCIS site went up from 5 to 6 months :(

No news on the NOA front but I got one of my 2 police clearances in the mail yesterday (I need them from both New Zealand and Australia and the New Zealand one has arrived) and this morning I'm off to have blood tests to prove immunity since I cant find my baby vaccination records anywhere. Little things like this help me stay in a positive frame of mind as I feel like I plodding ever closer to NOA2 day :)

Hi! I am also an April filer. I filed my I-129F on April 16. It was received April 19 and the check cleared on the 24th. I got my case # from the back of the check and My case states its in the inicial review status and that the NOA1 letter was mailed out but It is now May and I still have not received one. I called the customer service # and the girl who answered was no help at all. She said there was no way for her to check the address on file. I did read a post from a guy who spoke to the director at the vermont service center and he stated customer service has no access to our cases and that they are there to answer 14 general questions, but I decided to call anyway. I'm concerned I won't receive my other notices from the VSC. Anyone have any suggestions?

You can always update your address online at USCIS site.

We sent out our I-129F on April 7th and got out NOA-1 hard copy on April 14th...
The first month of waiting seemed soooo long, wow!
Hopefuly the next months will go by faster, since Mike and I are seeing each other very soon, in June and July :)
I also hope the 6 months, estimated by VSC on USCSI website, to process the I-129F isn't an accurate information... I much rather preffer believing the Visa Journey estimated time of 4 months...

Yes, first month is long. I keep checking any updates on USCSI every day since I filed, hoping for miracle :)
This month estimate time on USCSI site went up from 5 to 6 months. I read somewhere summer is the busiest time for them.
I talk to Sveta 2-3 times a day. I keep telling her everything is going to be great and we will catch up on what we have missed while apart once we are together.
Yes, this process is painfully long, but look at the bright side, once you are together you will cherish every moment of it. There is a say "easy comes, easy goes", but for us it definitely does not come easy.
Most people have difficult time answering "what is love", but not us ;) Keep your heads up and have patience.
I suggest we keep this topic going every day. Write whatever comes to mind.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 2010 K-1 VSC

Welcome aboard! Cashing the check is definitely a good starting sign. I guess it's all really just about being patient and anticipating the best. I'm often encouraged when I see other VSC filers get their NOA2s since I know that eventually our day will come. The really tricky part for us is coming up with a date for the wedding; I realized that we can't commit to a particular time until the NOA2 is issued. In the interim, we're just slowly getting ready in the areas which we can.

"Fortunately" work is so busy at the moment, I'm too preoccupied to worry about how long it's taking; the busyness is turning out to be a blessing in disguise. :star:

Well, I haven't seen any case when the check was not cashed :)
You are right, patience and hope all we are left with. I think this whole process brings us even closer to our loved ones. It's a big challenge and will to fight for our TRUE LOVE. It's not like you met someone in your town, had a few dates and end up marrying her/him. That's easy. Here we are forced to live apart for months and that's not easy at all. Even tough it's been 4 weeks since I last saw my fiancee, I miss her so much. My life is put on hold, until we are together. When I say this to my friends and family they respond "I know how you feel". I don't think they do. They can't even imagine what I am going through. But, I know you guys do. You know exactly how I feel, and that's why I am here.
We are all strangers on this forum; from different cities, gender, age, culture and etc. But, one big thing unites us here is LOVE.
We are in the same boat. The boat called "April Filers 2010" :) Let's not sink it. I say we keep this topic alive.

Good luck to all of us. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Yah, here's the kicker - and I think 'this' slipped through the cracks.

That Immigration Liason Staffer that you talked to, at a US REP / US Senator's office, should have told you about the 'resubmittal address' for a duplicate packet, resubmittal.

That gets it into a special queue, btw.

Did you note anything on the outside of the envelope or mailing label? That sometimes helps a bit, at the USCIS mailroom.

After receiving email from USCIS suggesting to resubmit a rep at US Senator's office suggested to wait a few weeks. I was very anxious to have this resolved quickly, so I resubmitted.

The instructions were to write following on the package;

DO NOT OPEN IN THE MAILROOM DUPLICATE ENCLOSED
ATTN: AA0399

Yay !!!

Yeahh, it can't not get any worse then that. How in the world do you lose 5 lbs of paperwork? I called USCIS to find out if anyone started processing duplicate copy, so immigration officer told me they will get back to me within 90 days? What?

kind2012 - any news?

Yeahh, next time I called another immigration officer told me they never forward K-1s to New York. Go figure!!! :)
After a month of waiting USCIS admitted to senator that my petition was lost in transit to NVC and asked me to submit duplicate copy.
I sent copy of petition last week. I haven't heard from USCIS ever since, not even on their status page.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresapproval times

For petition approval, in general NO. There seems to be increased times from certain countries which have ties to terrorism. Ukraine is not one of them.

The times vary because the priorities of the service centers vary. They do not have, for example, 3 people working on I-129f's all day, every day. They may focus on a particular visa type for a while and then switch back to another, depending on their workload and demand. Times have varied, since I have been a VJ member from 30 days (sometimes less)to 6 months for processing K-1s. It all depends how you hit the line. Kind of like asking how long you will have to wait in line at the bank before you get there. Who knows? Sometimes CSC has been faster, sometimes VSC and now we have this new system where they are farming out the petitions to whichever center can meet the demand better. Who knows how that will work.

After petition approval it goes to NVC and this can take 1-8 weeks, then another 2-3 weeks to get into the consulate system. From there the interview times vary by consulate. Ukraine is a fast one. Interview lead times in the last two years have varied from 4 days to 2 months, fast by any standard. Some consulates have 6 month + lead times for interviews, PLUS in Kiev you do not have to wiat for packet 3 and you do not have to send back packet 3. Just get all your interview documents ready (now if you want) and then when the petition is sent call and make your appointment.

Finacees from Ukraine tend to get HERE, in the USA, faster than many other countries, not because USCIS processes the petition faster but because the consulate processes the visas fast.

Right on Gary. Makes me feel lucky. :)

I don't see you having a problem with this. I also live in the house that I still own with my ex. USCIS doesn't care who you own property with, only that you are divorced and free to marry.

This is great. Thank you Tom&Tanya.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress question

You are fine. So long as you are free to marry, and disclosed your divorce, there should be no problem. Actually, only thing I see here that might slow you down is changing your address if the house sells. Don't forget to change your address with USCIS as soon as you move, and put in a forwarding order too, just in case.

Thanks. Of course I will make those changes. What happens if I don't sell the house by the time she has interview? Please, note my 1040 that USCIS requires for affidavit of support for the past 3 years still has my ex name and current address on it.

No problem. They will not be doing a Title search on the address you provided. Hopefully the I-129F was sent after the Divorce was final.

Thank you Audy_Rod. I hope you right. Actually, you don't need the title to find out who lives in the house.
Yes, I sent I-129F 3 weeks after official divorce.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress question
Hello everyone. Here is a tricky one. I got divorce about 1 months ago. Ex and I are in the process (it's been on the market for ~3 months) of selling the house, however it's taking longer then I thought. I put my house address on I129Fform that I sent to USCIS. Could that be a red flag, since my ex and I are still own the house?
She unofficially moved out to live with her parents, until it's sold and I am still living in the house.
JVFMaleUkraine2010-05-09 23:38:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProcessing Times for I-129F went up.

No, it's still 5 months, I've just checked, being surprised you said something about 6 months. For K1 Petitions processed in VSC and CSC. But the real processing times are: CSC - 2 months; VSC - 3 months. Or at least that's what I've seen from members that went through the process lately.
According to VisaJourney Immigration Timelines it is(check this link): http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/

IMO, it's an average of 5 months for all the applications. It's the same for N-400. :blink:
Now... there's a thing about USCIS.gov processing times: If your application remains pending beyond their processing times, you should call them. Otherwise, it's 2 months for CSC and 3 months for VSC.

But the fact that I have read so much doesn't make me an expert... :)

Regards,
Sunshine

And Bernie's right. :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTracking 129-F Petition Status

I received my check back (electronically) today so presume that the NOA-1 is not far behind. I've noticed in the past through these forums that I can track the process of the K-1 visa application through inputting a number from the back of the check into a certain website.

Question: Which of the numbers on the check do I use? I saw some previous posts and they said the number is supposed to start with WAC, I don't see any such number on the back of my check. There is a really, really long number at the top (maybe 40 or 50 characters). Then the bank's address on the left with a site number (four digits) and then, under that two numbers on the same line, one 9 digits and one ten digits (starting with a T). Also on the check is an 11 digit number and underneath that a 15 digit number that starts with the letter R.

Question: Where is this site to track the number?

Thanks for any help!!!!!

Numbers that starts with EAC

Jeff, I know it is hard not to get wrapped around the axle on these things (jeez, I was just there myself!) but I wouldn't worry at all until Monday. Call every day to the NVC and check and if not there Monday ask for a supervisor. The first-line operators can only look at a computer monitor and tell you what it says. If you need someone to dig it's going to take someone a little further up the food chain.

Thanks. No luck today either. I even emailed nvcresearch@state.gov earlier today. Let's see if anyone answers my email.
