United KingdomFinancial stuff?
Hey everyone! Just wondering if anyone with experience with the London embassy, or any embassy at all really, can answer a few questions for me. I know you need copies or whatever of tax returns and pay stubs. Do the pay stubs have to be originals, or are copies ok? Can I send a mixture of copies and originals? I'm asking because a couple of pay stubs I want to use have some stuff spilled on to them, kinda embarrassing to send dirty ones lol. Also, is an employment letter really necessary? My dad is co sponsoring for us and I want to bother him as little as possible with this. Thanks!

United KingdomI-134 evidence
Hey everyone!
Just a couple of quick questions. My father is being our co sponsor for our K1 and although he makes enough hourly to qualify to be sponsor, he also gets paid double his hourly for over time. The thing is, over time is not a set amount of time. In regards to the employment letter, what should be listed as a salary? How could overtime even be included when it varies week to week? Also, how many tax receipts are required? Anyone have an offical link to this stuff?
Thanks!

United KingdomLondon embassy
Can anyone tell me how long and how much it is to get a police certificate for the United Kingdom and also how long it takes to receive one? My fiance does not have a criminal record if that helps. Also, how long does it take to get an interview at the London Embassy for a K1 visa?
Thank you!

United KingdomLondon interviews?
Hey guys, I can't seem to find the wait time for a K1 visa in London. All I can find is the wait time for a non immigrant visa, which is 22 days, and there is a note that says it excludes K and a few other visa types. Can anyone tell me what the wait time is, or how long you waited for an interview? Thanks! Also, if you have any tips to share about the interview in London, that would be great too!
KristyFemaleUnited Kingdom2012-09-14 09:52:00
United KingdomNVC?

From the service centers if your K-1 is approved you get a NOA2. The service center send your files to NVC where it is assigned a case number. It stays at the NVC for around 2 weeks and is then forwarded to the appropriate embassy (for you the UK).

Thanks for answering! What exactly do they do there though? Haven't they done everything at the service centers?

United KingdomNVC?
Hey everyone. I'm confused about what happens at the NVC. Can anyone clear it up for me, and also how long the petition can be at the NVC? I'm petitioning for a k1 visa. Thank you!

United KingdomBeen so long...
So it's been five month's today since my NOA1. The waiting game is killing me. Waiting, waiting, waiting some more. UGH! Speed it up Vermont, will you?! Any advice on anything anyone? It's actually been six and a half month's since I've seen Daniel so it's getting hard to cope...
KristyFemaleUnited Kingdom2012-10-03 23:00:00
United KingdomSo confused! Please help!
So I didn't file taxes for 2011 because I didn't make enough. I keep reading conflicting information on whether or not I need to send an affadavit of support even though my parents are co sponsoring us for financial reasons. I think I want to fill out and send an affadavit anyway, just to be safe. It can't hurt to have one from me and one from my parents, right? So if I didn't file taxes, would sending my w2 from walgreens be enough? I worked as a nanny after quiting walgreens from late September, and from then to January I probably made less than 1500 dollars (yeah, they paid me #######). Any advice is very helpful! Thank you!

United Kingdomco sponsors?
My dad is co sponsor for my fiance's k1 petition. He and my mother are married and file taxes jointly. My mother does not work outside the home. Does she have to sign an affadavit of support as well?

United KingdomKnightsbridge doctors?
Hey everyone,
Anyone that has had a medical with the Knightsbridge doctors in London, can you let me know what happened and what your experience was like? My fiance has an appointment next week so we are curious.
Thanks!

United KingdomSupport evidence?
Hi everyone,
Just wondering what I should send with my fiance to his interview. My dad is our co sponsor. I read somewhere that you should bring an employment letter, but is that necessary if you have taxes or tax receipt?
Thanks!
KristyFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-02-04 01:12:00
United KingdomFreaking out!

The AOS packet instructions directly state that they only need copies of the W-2 or 1040's and the paystubs. Originals are not required.

I mean for K1 interview in London.

United KingdomFreaking out!
My fiance's interview date is creeping up and I'm getting really nervous! I feel like I don't know what I'm doing at this point. My dad is our co sponsor, and of course he wants to keep his original documents, so would it be ok if I sent copies of his 2012 W2s and copies of his paystubs? Also, is it really necessary to have an employment letter? I was going to attach a letter stating that I did not make enough to file taxes this year, so what should I say on it? Sorry for all the questions, this is keeping me up tonight!

United KingdomWhat to send?

This is LONDON information (and not for anybody else because I haven't studied other consulates.)

For the I-134, London doesn't care why you didn't file taxes. They don't even require a tax return from a sponsor. They basically want a sponsor and if you can't do it, then your Dad's I-134 will be fine. They will take any valid proof of his income. Two forms of proof is suggested but usually one form is all they keep and file.

Pick two from the list. ANY two--

  • Tax return + W2 or 1099 (photocopies) OR Tax transcript (I'd send original because they are so easy to get another for your adjustment of status)
  • Pay stubs (photocopies)
  • Letter from employer (original on letterhead)
  • Pension statement (photocopies)
  • Social Security statement (photocopies)
  • Financial statements showing investment assets if going that route. (bank, Edward Jones, Charles Scwaab, brokers)
  • Anything else that shows income

Thank you SO much! This is exactly what I needed.

United KingdomWhat to send?

I used to file taxes, even back when I made $10,000 per year. You still have to file even if you don't make enough, from my understanding.

Plus, are you sure your affidavit of support will be sufficient if you lived below the poverty line this year?

At this time, your last tax year CAN be 2011. Taxes from 2012 are not due until April 15, so you don't have to have your taxes done, and hence do not have to submit the 2012 return with the affidavit, until after April 15.

My dad is our co sponsor, so the fact that I made below the poverty line doesn't matter with my affidavit of support. Also, my dad has already filed his taxes and received a refund. Also, if you make below 9,500 you don't have to file.

Hi everyone,
I'm preparing some papers to send for my fiance's interview in London. I didn't make enough to file taxes so I read on here somewhere that I should provide a statement saying that I didn't. What should the statement say? Also, is it really necessary to provide a letter from my dad's employer (he is the co sponsor) or will pay stubs be ok?
Thanks!

Anybody know?

United Kingdomstill no interview date!!

Same here. Fiance mailed "packet 3" on 1/25 overnight, so it was delivered 1/28 (I think). Hopefully this week? When did you send yours?

Long time ago! Late January. I'm beyond frustrated. My fiance called them and they said it's taking an unusual amount of time. If we don't hear anything this week we are supposed to call back. Sigh.

Have you received an interview date yet? Still nothing for us!!!

My fiance had his medical on January 7th. He had to resend a form they lost at the London embassy at the end of January. Basically, every time he calls they say they have his forms and will be in touch. But still no interview! What is taking so long and what can I do about it? Thanks.

How many paystubs are required for the K1 interview at the london embassy? I have 2012's tax transcript and two recent paystubs. Also found 2 from January and 1 from August. Do the paystubs all have to be consecutive?
thanks

United KingdomReally worried...

Yes I did. I typed up and signed another letting saying I still was willing and able to get married. Not really my fault it expired so there shouldn't be any problems with it. It was completely out of my control if they lost our forms. I'm looking at my NOA1 and NOA2 but I don't see an expiration date. Do you know where I can find one?
It's been less than a year since NOA1 and five months since NOA2. I know other people have taken longer than we have so idk why we would have a problem with expiration.

Oh nevermind I was looking at the wrong paper. It says valid from 10/29/2012 to 02/28/2013. Should I be worried?

I'm sure it will be fine. I send letters and small packages to the UK all the time. The only thing that has ever gone missing was my son's birthday present and that turned up back on my doorstep here about three months later! It seems as though the label came unstuck. ;-( If the Post Office can't deliver the envelope because it is too big then they will leave a card and he can pick it up from the sorting office.

Thanks! I also was given a customs declaration form, but no tracking number. Have you ever been given one? Are you able to track it?
KristyFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-04-05 21:53:00
United KingdomReally worried...

I would never spend $90 to send it, so I'm in support of what you did. Have faith that all will go well. The mail carrier will just fold it in half and wodge it in the door slot. If it fails to get there, scan and email everything. I knew a girl whose fiance did that because the stuff got lost and London accepted it. She was a pretty blonde, so maybe that helped.

I looked at your timeline. Why has it been since early December that the forms were submitted, yet you have no interview? Has the medical been done? Is the DS-2001 submitted (even though it actually shouldn't be because the affidavit of support isn't in his hands yet)?

A couple of things happened.
His medical was originally scheduled for December 7th I think. Then it was cancelled because the doctors got sick or something. Because of Christmas and all that he wasn't able to get back in until mid January, I think. Then we waited and waited and waited, with my fiance getting the run around from the embassy every time he called. Eventually someone said that our case was taking longer than usual, and if we didn't hear from them that week to call back. Nothing came. So my fiance called, and the embassy basically said they didn't know where his paper work had gone off to. Just gone. Months lost. We resubmitted everything, including the DS-2001. Probably going to hear from them tomorrow. Hopefully. Does it matter that he doesn't have the affadavit yet? It shouldn't take too long to get to him.

United KingdomReally worried...
I sent the affadavits of support and proof of income today. I used the USPS simply because I'm on a budget and couldn't really afford the $90 estimate on fedex's website. It cost me around six dollars to mail using the USPS, and the lady said it shouldn't take too long as they've had things get to London before in three days. What I'm worried about is the documents getting lost. I was given a customs form and that's it. The lady working there said there was no other way to track it. I'm also scared because it was in a large envelope that I don't think would fit through the door mail slots that my bf has in Liverpool. Keeping my fingers crossed but I'm terrified. Anyone have a similar experience?
Thanks

I sent my fiance the affidavits of support and financial evidence today, and I was given a customs form. I'm really concerned because there doesn't seem to be a way to track it. It's a customs form CN 22. What bothers me the most is that it says on the receipt that the item may be opened officially. WHY!? Why in the world do they need to open my package that contains papers?!!

It really is ridiculous. They are approving Feb ones now... if you look at VJ's "Igor's List". They are SO far behind and CSC is putting them to shame.

If they're approving February ones now that means you'll probably be next.

My fiance has his interview in London tomorrow morning. I'm dying of nervousness. We have waited forever to get this interview and it decides our whole future. We've been engaged 4 years now, since we are 21, visited multiple times to each others countries, etc but I can't help but be scared. Can anyone tell me the percentage of fiance visas that are approved from the UK?
