You can call the Service Center and speak to a specialist.  Explain your situation and that you would like to speak with a supervisor.  My experience with them has been very positive, just be patient, polite and persistent.  You can call everyday if you don't get an answer you like or a solution.  It's your right.  Make sure you register to get email and text updates.  There is a 60 day maximum time limit.  They have to give you a response whether it be positive or negative.

Thank you all!!! Congratulations to all new approvals! Most of all THANK YOU VISAJOURNEY! I have to say that I could not have gone through all this process without this site. We were super prepared the whole time. My Fiancee told me a lot of people left the Consulate as she was waiting with Denials or Requests for more information or documentation. Needless to say, she had everything she needed with her because I arranged everything for her based from information on this site. I have been receiving requests from friends for information about the process we went through. WOW! so according to my number, I was the 38th case sent to my consulate on Dec 26th. That's amazing. No wonder it takes forever to get an interview date.

 

Follow the instructions and try to track it.  Remember you have to do your DS 160.

  • ### - the last three is the total number of cases sent to the beneficiary's consulate with yours being the latest one processed as of that day. 004 is the fourth case they've processed, so far, for this particular consulate.

Is this number based on a yearly total or monthly total or...?

 

 

For the day.  My number was 001.  I know there were others that were processed for that consulate recently.  I hope this helps!

but your case stiil At NVC or is in transit??? mine said At NVC....they gave my SDO case same day as yours...

 

I copied this from pg 26 of this thread.  Follow it,  I was able to follow the package and even see who signed for it.  Good luck!

 

 

A note for everyone who received their case number from NVC/DOS, here's a way to figure out exactly* when your case left NVC.

By exactly, I mean given normal circumstances and your package was not lost or something to that effect.

 

First, let's take apart your case number from NVC/DOS. It should be in AAA########## format. For the purposes of this note, let's use MTL2013756004 as an example.

  • AAA - this is the three letter consulate code. MTL is for Montreal.
  • #### - the first four numbers is the year, i.e. 2013.
  • ### - the next three is the Julian day your case number was created. Subtract 500 from the number to determine the day of the year. 756-500=256. 256 is September 13 in Julian calendar of a non-leap year.
  • ### - the last three is the total number of cases sent to the beneficiary's consulate with yours being the latest one processed as of that day. 004 is the fourth case they've processed, so far, for this particular consulate.

Now that we have September 13, 2013 as the date when the case was created, let's check when the package left NVC. The shipping reference used by NVC to ship out packages is in EXP DD MMM YYYYA format, In this case, EXP 13 SEP 2013A. 

  • Go to DHL to track the package using the shipping reference.
  • Enter a date range for from and to. Normally, when you call NVC/DOS they tell you when your case left or forwarded to the consulate so use those dates. 
  • Look for your package from the list result! 

***You might have to play around with the DD part of the shipping reference as well as the from and to date ranges. In my case, for example, I had to enter a DD three days prior as my case actually left on a Monday but the shipping reference was created the Friday before.

 

I used this to make sure that my case was picked up and actually delivered and signed for at my local consulate. I was also able to print a copy of the proof of delivery so that's a bonus.

Once they have your folder, they will send you Packet 3.

Once you send in an email with the Applicant's Statement (which you will find in Packet 3), they will schedule the medical and the interview for you. It's a 2-day affair, with the medical either on a Monday or Tuesday, and the interview on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

nothing yet... I am going to call again today... I will be calling the rest of this week and some days of next week (not the holidays) haha.... I can't wait to get that case number... it is all we need to schedule the interview... and then check the status so hopefully NVC sends it to the consulate in Ciudad Juarez extremely fast... but there are some holidays in between so we shall see... but anything at the end of January or February is enough.... that would mean 6 months for the entire process, it is not that bad... I am happy you were able to schedule it for February smile.png don't forget to invite us to the wedding smile.png

 

I got my case # from DOS today.  It was sent to NVC on Dec. 11th!

How did USCIS let you know they has sent the package to NVC? Was it additional notification after the NOA-2?

 

Yes.  I got an email and text around 6:30pm tonight letting me know my package was sent to NVC.  My NOA-2 was dated November 22nd.

Another quick update:

My petition was shipped to the Consulate and it is now showing "In Transit".

I have spent about half hour playing with the DHL website.

Just a word of advice for those trying to get their "Waybill #": make sure you select the "Shipment Destination", as not doing so may prevent you from locating your package.

That's exactly what I did, I tried first locating ALL shipments and I could NOT see one shipped to Italy, after 5 minutes of playing with the system, I went back and selected Italy from the menu, and guess what, it worked!!! Just to make sure my theory was correct, I went back and tried with ALL shipments, and once again, couldn't locate mine.

NVC has been extremely fast for us, I wish the rest of you still in the process the same kind of treatment.

I would personally give them another week.

 

Have you tried to do a research according to RFE and date of NOA2? 

 

For instance, the last couple who received NOA2 in Italy had an RFE on 10/29, their answer was received by USCIS on 11/05, and they finally received their NOA2 on 11/15.

Hey Davesings!

 

Feels good to have put another dent on this immigration monster!!! 

 

Our next step is to wait for the CEAC update to say "In Transit" so that I can go on the DHL website and attempt to locate the parcel, and then wait for it to say ready, so that I can send the "Applicant's Statement" to the consulate in Naples and have the interview scheduled (in Italy, it is the consulate that schedules the interview for you). As for the medical, it is done on the day PRIOR to the interview (this is specific to Naples, other embassies/consulates have very different procedures).

 

Also, another couple asked me privately how did I know our case was at NVC and how did I get the Case Number so I thought I would share my experience here with you (I owe this to the many VJers who went through this before us).

 

What we did is we called the DoS number at 202-485-7600, and waited less than 3 minutes to talk with a live person.

They asked us for our receipt number, and then for my name and DOB (I'm the beneficiary), and then my partner's name (no DOB).

 

We told them that we had a NOA2 dated Oct. 25, and that the case was shipped to the NVC on Nov. 8 (we received a USCIS status update for that).

 

The person asnwering our call was extremely polite and helpful. He gave us the case number without even asking, and afterwards said that if we wanted to know if the case was shipped to the consulate in Naples, we had to call the NVC.

 

I just checked on the CEAC website and it says our petition is still at NVC.

 

I had to make a change to the timeline, I first said today, but it was really yesterday, as the CN digits tells you when exactly the number was assigned (see this thread for that: http://www.visajourn...interpretation/).

 

Greetings and congrats!   We got our NOA1 on July 25, 2013.  We got a RFE on Oct. 30 and the noticed they received our response on November 13, 2013.  I have not heard anything back yet.  Any thoughts?

Me and my partner met during his vacation in Brazil FEB/ 2011. We had an affair and became facebook friends chatting very often, but no relationship yet. When I told him I was planning a trip to Argentina for my vacations that year, he invited me to go to California instead. I could stay in his house and it wouldnt be so expensive. I accept the offer and applied for the B2 visa in march 2011. 
 
August 2011 i got the visa just one week before my flight to USA.
 
I arrived at LAX sept/2011 I answered the reason of my trip was tourism (100% true). We spent 15 days 24/7 together. the day i left we cried like babys at the airport. We didnt know when or if we would ever meet again, that´s why it was so painful.
 
Dec/2011, my partner went back to brazil to visit me. At this point we decided to have a long distance relatioship which is never easy. More tears at the departure day.
 
Jun/2012, I went to California for 28 days. It was amazing and we were definitly in love of each other. Once again I said the reason of my trip was vacation. I was afraid of telling them i was going to see my boyfriend and they do not let me in.
 
Nov/2012, after so much time together, as I arrived back to Brazil I missed him so much that i decided to go back to visit him. He was unnemployed and was up to me to travel again. This time we met in NY, reason of trip: tourism! 
 
March/2013, He flew to Brazil again to visit me.
 
Once the gay marriage became legal we decided to get married.
 
Oct/2013 I visit him again for 7 weeks this time. At the airport I was asked the reason of staying so long, tour and visit a friend, and what is my job in Brazil, which i told the same answer I gave during the B2 visa interview.
 
4 days before the legal marriage I learned from a similar website that getting married while in a tourist visa wasnt legal and it would bring us some trouble. Considering I was coming back to Brazil instead of staying in US and apply for the GC. I heard that I could be sent home from the airport since I was married trying to get into US in a B2 visa.
 
 
We didnt get married and start the paperwork for the K1 visa once I was back in Brazil.
 
The week after I left US, my fiance sent the package to Dallas. I am sick, very nervous because all that I want now is stay by his side and is very painful be apart of the one you love and want to build a life together.
 
We are planing to meet again in another country (central america) in few months.
 
I will give updates of our case when we get it.

 

 

Congrats!  My partner and I are together almost 11 years.  She lives in Italy and I live in NJ.  We filed for the K1 and have our interview in February.  Just be patient, it will happen.  Read all the forums here.  There is a lot of useful information.

I am from Canada and I crossed the border (Windsor/Detroit tunnel) yesterday to visit my fiance. This was my first time crossing since we became engaged. The crossing was tough, as since I had a fiance and mentioned us going through the visa process and presenting a copy of our NOA2 after many questions, they almost didn't admit me. One officer said that since my fiance had filed a petition for the K1, that I am technically inadmissible because I have told them that I am an intending immigrant. I thought that having a copy of the NOA2 would be helpful, but the first officer I talked to said rather abrasively, "Who are you talking to? Are you talking to me? Do you know who we are? We ARE immigration" when I mentioned that I didn't have the original, that my fiance did, and that I would be getting it to bring to my visa interview, and that a copy wasn't enough. They asked many questions,  such as where we met, when we were getting married, if I was moving in today, and wanted the address of the place I would be staying at... it was really intimidating and when I thought it'd be an easy crossing, it was definitely the most difficult. I was told that I would now be under a lot of scrutiny because of us going through the visa process, even though I said I would NOT be moving until I cross with an approved visa. sad.png I am planning to visit again in December for the holidays and am afraid I won't be able to get in. So many of you had easy crossings, and it seemed to help many if you had a copy of the NOA2, but man... that was frightening to go through!

 

I would be very careful trying to get through again. What they told you is true.  You can't be admitted to the U.S. under a visitors visa if you have a visa pending. I just had shoulder surgery, a month prior my mother had breast cancer surgery.  I asked my lawyer if it would be possible for my fiance to come and help me out for a couple of weeks.  He checked with the Asst. Port Director responsible for CBP in Newark.  Even though my lawyer presented medical documentation for both me and my mother, we were denied. He said it was the situation.

 

TSC received our RFE on November 13, 2013.  We are hoping this will all be done by the holidays.........

yes after we submitted the requested RFE , I received the approval in less than a week !!!!

 

They received my RFE on November 13th.  They wanted to know our intent to marry within 90 days and what State we were going to marry (marriage equality). Our original filing was received July 23, 2013.  How long from the time they review the RFE until it's approved?  I am new to this forum so  please bear with me! content.gif content.gif
