Received NOA2 on 5/5/11 - and got our MNL # today 5/17/11!

Do we have to wait until the embassy receives our petition before we can begin to schedule medical exam & embassy interview? I understand we have to pay the visa fee and fill out the DS docs first. Thank you.

I'm just having fun with you guys .. after some inverts, mctwists and backflips I enjoy many of the same things :-) Gotta have a balance in life otherwise you burn out too quickly. And I love the South Florida Sunsets!!! Check out my photos and you'll know what I mean.

How about catching 10 feet of air off a 14' high vert ramp and spinning 540 inverted.. now that's what I call living!!! Try it sometime ... but be sure to wear a helmet :-)

Just an FYI ... For those worried about Medical Exam results making it over to the Embassy in time (Like me) -- I spoke with St. Lukes Ext. and they advised they have a courier who delivers the medical results to the embassy daily. All the best to you. God Bless. Ingat!

In other words ... if your results are ready that day .. the courier will deliver them to the embassy. I specifically asked St. Luke's if our interview is on Thursday and she has her medical monday/tuesday, will they make it on time? The answer was yes. But there are never any guarantees in life .. we're trying to do it a week before but may have to delay it until week of the interview .. which is a stresser. Anyway ..lot's of prayers, that's all. We Trust in The Lord.

Here's the real deal ... I went to the CFO office ... aka Prism ... on Taft ave this past Friday with my fiance. She's 18, I'm 42, and I was married to a Filipina before who attended the same CFO 7 years ago. We had no issues. They asked Rain if she knew the name of my ex .. She of course did. The CFO rep showed her the registration card filled out by my ex 7 years ago .. thought that was a bit of a twilight zone moment ... they didn't even ask for pictures of us, just the required docs (divorce decree, etc.) I hung out downstairs with about 10 armed guards from the BDO next door .. love those shotguns they wear. All was good in about 2 1/2 hours. Everyone was very nice and not once did I feel uncomfortable. That should give you an idea of how to gauge your own situation. Best of luck to everyone.

Hey it's Paul ... that was a question we had. Because Rain lives in the South we hoped she could do the Seminar in Manila while there for the interview and then pick up the sticker in Cebu. Typical of the Philippines, Cebu CFO says Yes, you can just pick up the sticker there .. but then Manila CFO (Prism) says you must return to Prism for their sticker. We had a similair experience with just going to Prism and the required documents - so we just showed up with what we had and got in. I suggest calling (multiple times) and getting the names of who you spoke with. All the best to you.

We both went yesterday, me and Paul at Taft. ave. malate manila for the CFO 12noon seminar start at 2:00pm.-4:00pm I think were 7 there 3 US, 1 Germany,3 Japan 2 k1 fiance(e) it was me and the lady petitioned from Germany and the rest married already.. they're so nice there the lady are so smiley and joker so we were laughing and advise what to do once we enter to the airport :) and share some abused filipina but she didn't try to scare us... thank God! I passed ... so happy :) now just waiting for my visa.. GOOD LUCK!! to everyone...

If there's any doubt - attend the interview. I just came back from Manila last week where I attended the interview with my fiance. You won't be able to attend the medical but the embassy interview is no problem. They swore both of us in, asked a few simple questions and we were done. It is possible to do it all in 1 week but it doesn't leave much room for error .. St. Luke's has a carrier send the medical results to the embassy on a daily basis. On that Friday I went to Prism with my fiance to get the seminar over with .. I hung outside with the BDO guards .. love those shotguns they carry.

Hotel Soriente is great for the pesos! About $40/night for double. Ask for Caloy ... or Larry the guard. Clean quiet friendly staff - just your basic basic hotel but walking distance to St. Lukes and US Emb. I just stayed there 2 weeks ago. Best of Luck .. Paul

Most people who know me are just really surprised I'm getting married. :lol:

I have had a few comments about being a cradle robber; but I've decided to just ignore that. We have a 20+ year age difference, so I'm also expecting stares when strangers see us together.

A lot of people were confused that she didn't just fly back with me when I went to see her last summer. People really don't understand the whole visa process. Of course, neither did I before I started this.

The most important thing, to me, is that my family has talked to her online in facebook and skype and they all really like her. She won them over just like she won me over. The people who really matter to me are just happy for me. The others, well, I don't care that much what they say.

I was using hotels.com and searching for the best price. There are several within walking distance.



Hotel Soriente ... can't beat the price, the quiet, and the staff. Stayed for 10 days in June 2011. Within walking distance of St. Lukes and Embassy. Plus you can get a nice BBQ chicken dinner at (Chocks to go) for 60 pesos at the little stand around the corner. Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone!! Yes, I logged on to USCIS about 645pm and expected to see that same old "Last Updated" date of 12/31/10 ... and I had to do a triple take ..and saw 5/5/2011! And just then within 3 mins of seeing that I received a text from USCIS. One HUGE hurdle overcome and just a few more to go! The waiting is a killer .. everyone knows what I'm talking about.
