US Embassy and Consulate Discussioneveryone

Well I think is a lucky question considering as I heard from an interview that came from a Korean embassy where councils asked repeatedly the same question to the poor fiancee: Why do you marry a Korean?

I know it has nothing to do with the US visa....just comparing....

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGovernment Shutdown

USCIS as for the embassies doesn't get affected by the government shutdown because most of the money comes from the applicants so there's nothing to worry, they will work normally. The shutdown applies to the offices that depend directly from the government and no from the people in general. Regards and good luck!

PhilippinesMy fiancee character

My fiancee keep testing me everyday, he always making fun all the time,he seems enjoying that I get annoyed, and sometimes I get hurt by his simply called joke. He is sweet, caring, loving but I just dont get his humor sometimes, im scared that my love for him turned to hatred, and I dont want that to happen, coz he is the man im devoted to share my whole life. What to do?

When I started to date my now fiancee....she made me jokes that actually hurt me.....she got me pissed off while in the other side she laughed lots.....took months to understand her humor....ironically present day if she doesn't joke I start to miss her because it is one of the points of her "all" that I love and I don't never wish it someday vanishes.....

She still jokes, but at difference from our beginning I follow her humor and enjoy it..... ;)

Well, that's an example..... it is normal to be afraid when you don't know someone at all.... but of course in every couple is different, not the same....

PhilippinesNeed help!Interview tomorrow at Manila USEM!

I personally accompanied my fiancee in the Philippines to the interview (just got back to the States). It is better have ready  all papers you mentioned and don't forget the form I-134 properly filled, anyways you won't be using all those but a clerk outside the building will give you a small paper with a list of what you have to give in the window when you are called the second time.

Good luck, and don't worry, everything will be fine.

Gladly and happy that my fiancee and son passed....still waiting for their visas and I expect them by the end of February.

PhilippinesCFO Seminar in Manila (May 30, 2013)

For children 12 years old and below are exempted from attending the PDOS. They must, however, be registered, even if by proxy.

Source: http://www.cfo.gov.p...-visa&catid=139,

[font='courier new']You have to go as early as 4 in the morning because slots get filled fast. Fiancee's take the same seminar as spouses. So if 30 people line up early in the morning which is what usually happens, you won't get any slots if you show up late. When I went to CFO a few weeks ago, the line was already crazy long by 5 am.[/

Thanks so much by your quick answer!

PhilippinesIs Friend's Fiancee Scamming Him? How to convince him?
Want answers? OK...There you go....

Assuming that I am a Filipina is where you are wrong. I an man MARRIED with a Filipina.

My father worked for the Navy later he worked in the embassy. By this reason I grew up in different countries and I speak other 2 languages but none of them is Tagalog.... Ahora entiendes el por que de mi "pobre" ingles?

There are so many Americans even here in the States that don't speak English well, even isn't their primary language.... So in your mind someone who does not speak English well (or write) is someone pretending be a "Kano"?

Did you ever listen how a " redneck" from Missouri speaks? Hard to understand.

Enough said, I came in good faith posting something to be helpful because the Forum helped me in the steps of the visa so I am paying forward, not to fight.

My apologies by posting something that isn't related with the OP.

PhilippinesIs Friend's Fiancee Scamming Him? How to convince him?

Well.... my experience (I was the fiance now happy husband and my wife is reading my post)....

No judgements please.... the point is to answer to the original post and open the eyes to the friend of yours if possible...

I was introduced to my now wife online by a co-worker who is a relative in a social network (among many other relatives I was introduced only with the purpose of friendship). Since the first day we were totally honest.

We both were experiencing a hard period in our lifes that has absolutely nothing to do with the money, and we both confessed the need of being in company of someone in which we can actually trust (as you can imagine we both had great dissappointments which certain people), so one week later after our first meeting I proposed that we should be together and live for the rest of our lives considering that we could achieve great things, she and I agreed, since then we committed to marry and live for each other.

That was a "quick" proposal I know as many of my people, friends and relatives, were worried by this. But I am not stating it was love at first sight... just simply we felt we should be together.

With the time the love grew and every day our commitment to marry became stronger. It took months to cultivate our love but fortunately it reached to a happy ending.

Did she ever demanded anything or money? No, never.... for the contrary she was the one who sent me cards despite the high cost of post mail from Philippines to the States, which I did in the same way.... five months after our first meeting I offered send money....she was hesitant but accepted, since then voluntarily I used to send her around $4000 pesos each month.

Later I visited the Philippines and my then fiancee and for my surprise she showed me most of the money I was sending her, she saved them because she knew that I would make so many expenses and that money would help me. By then our love was so mature and personally I finally could make our engagement... in that first trip we confirmed for sure that we should be together and marry.

She got pregnant from me....we didn't expect it but however we both were happy... Did she ask me more money? No even that I offered send more for pregnancy expenses, she was fine with her health insurance and free medical attention (although she had friends that were doctors and nurses).

In my second time in the Philippines she did the same....she had saved most of the money I sent to use for my trip expenses....

Who would not marry a woman like her? We both feel blessed and lucky because we found ourselves, now married and living together under the same house planning family projects as we talked many months back....

This is our case.... every couple is different and there are different ways to show love, but actions talk by themselves.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2013 Filers

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDenial of K-1 visa due to age

Wow I am sorry for all those being criticized on here about age.  I don't think any of you should judge someone for their age difference when you don't know them.  Plenty of people fall in love with people of different ages.  It happens a lot!

I personally don't know much on the case.  I am a friend of the friend and was just wondering if I could provide any help.  I believe the country was either DR or Jamaica. They have met in person multiple times.  Yes he is in his 20s and she is in her 50s.

The age gap shouldn't not affect in the decision of a couple doesn't matter how big is the difference but the circumstances around them that drove to get a red flag (or more than one).

But I would said, as I read, a man in his 20's is marrying a woman in her 50's with no possibility to have families, coming from a culture where the children are considered a blessing, it sounds actually somewhat strange and in the sight of the consul is hard to believe (sorry to be harsh but that is the truth as I see). Yes, they have met multiple times but in comparison with other far country like Philippines or UK, a Caribbean nation is practically too close to the U.S. (unless the USC lives in Alaska or Hawaii).

My regards.

I know are good news but actually it is a lot of changes in my plans as originally I had.... but well...

The processing will be in Manila.

Did anyone else use the old 129f form?  It is supposed to be allowed until Sep 16.

I used and sent it on September 2nd, it was accepted with no problems as long as you sent it before that date.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed some advice on evidence presentation
In all the path we experienced and still doing so we learned that is not the quantity or variety of evidence but the coherence of them along with the questions that are being made in the interview.

It is, however, very acceptable and good all the evidence in large quantities if you consider so, some CO will review them while others no.

Regards.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBackground check clearance stage on I-129F

ok when they do petitioner's background check that is understandable but how they do beneficiary's background check if beneficiary is in his home country and never been in the US?

thanks

Homeland Security is the one that does the job in the background checks since it is a division of FBI and has its ways to check in every country (don't ask how, I have no idea), that office was founded precisely to avoid high criminals and terrorists since 9/11. So the background check starts locally to international to both petitioner and beneficiary, if there is no problem and everything is all clear, then the application should pass.

Traffic tickets and accidents are not important, they don't care about it.

Regards.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of Communication - Used Calling Cards Oops

My US Citizen cousin residing in the US  is sponsoring his fiancé and I'm helping him out somewhat.

How crucial is proof of phone call communication?  I remember back then calling cards were sufficient.  I'm being told now that they are no longer acceptable.  Fortunately, he did make some calls from his home phone when a calling card wasn't available.  But there are only about 4 or 5 calls made per each month from the home phone.

The other communication proof are:

- A few e-mail correspondence.  Not too much since the beneficiary is not computer literate and the electricity and internet access in her country is rarely available.  There are about 10 - 15 back-and-forth email correspondence up to date.

- He has proof he sent her $250 US funds via Western union.  He plans on sending her some more funds in the upcoming days.

- He sent her a post card and she still has that envelope for proof.

So right now I feel I may have misled him and may have made a huge mistake.  I told him calling cards were okay as long as he saved them after he used them to show as proof.  Will the small amount of calls he made from his house phone (can be verified on his phone bill) be an issue?

There is a website called "Habla Mexico" (you can go to the English version) that is a virtual calling card. You open an account, buy the quantity you need, talk and it registers, you have the option to check your calls and print them.

I used this service to call my fiancee, I printed my calls and highlighted the numbers to Philippines and  sent them along with my I-129 application to USCIS.

Good luck and regards! :)

Everything is fine.

2 advises: 1. Make it simple don't put them in folders or binders, and 2. Try to separate in to sections: Documents and Proofs so people in USCIS can separate it fast.

Good luck and regards.

Let's put an example,

if your name is Ana Maria Peres Duran Montes which has 5 names.... should be ordered as follow:

That's how I'd do.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTired

People in USCIS will get annoyed with lots of sheets and thousands of chats, actually the chat although important aren't that indispensable....at the contrary it will cause more delays.

Only print the highlights of the chats and unite orderly in about 5 to 12 sheets only.

Remember, if it is simple and brief, is better. As Dobbietoo said, tickets, receipts and everything that shows you that have been together are more important than chats.

Good luck and regards!

PS. Same applies either for CR1 or K1

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support I-134 (Validity date)

Thank you for your answers...

Now while filling the Form I-134 I got with another matter that worries most.

In the part 1, incise b, specifies that if US Citizenship by parent or marriage, give Certificate of Citizenship number...

In my case I was born overseas but after my birth I was registered at the embassy, got a Birth Certificate and a form FS-240 which is the Report of Birth Abroad, I never had problems with those papers, even I have my passport and registered as voter.

My father, in that case, was a US Citizen, born in the States from US parents....

Is really necessary to get Certificate of Citizenship? And have a number? How it will affect in the interview with my fiancee?

Thanks again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPort OF Entry

The POE is the first place you touch down on US soil.  There is no pre-clearance in London, so it will/can not be your POE.  I also doubt that there is a direct, non-stop London to Phoenix flight.  It goes from London to some major city in the US (New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, etc) -- wherever it stops first, that's your POE.  That's where you need to be sure you have sufficient time to clear immigration and customs, reclaim your luggage and get it to the place to get put on your last leg of the trip to Phoenix.  In most airports, that's at least 2 to 3 hours.  Good luck!

Operated by British Airways 10h 40m Take-off Tue 2:30p LHR London, ENG, United Kingdom   Landing Tue 5:10p PHX Phoenix, AZ

Direct Flight, the source is Kayak... However way too expensive.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes pregnancy change or expedite anything?

My timeline was similar. Pregnant during K-1 process, no expedite allowed despite multiple letters, but Medical approved, and Visa granted in February. However, the doctor in Vietnam said she couldn't fly. There was no way I was going to allow my daughter to be born in Vietnam, so I had some top OB specialists write a letter to the Consulate and the airline. She was only about 34 weeks so they realized the Vietnamese doctor was wrong and they let my fiance' fly over. Baby was born 6 or 7 weeks later in the USA thank goodness. The rest as they say is history because it only went downhill from there. Baby is happy, healthy, and smart as a whip. Good luck!

Most Asian airlines doesn't allow pregnant women later than 36 weeks, I believe European airlines are lots more strict. That's in opposite with the US based airlines which practically don't have restrictions.
