HI, EVERYBADY.
I want to ask simple question about some documents for K1 visa. I was born in Ukraine . but now I live in Israel.
for my interview I need police certificate from Ukraine . Maybe somebody knows if I need certificate that I am single, in the other words non- marige certificate from Ukraine in addition to the police sertificate. blink.gif

You can PM NYGirl as her fiancee was Ukrainian born and was living in Israel. To the best of my knowledge no such certificate was required by him....

Thank you for your answer.
I ask because if I need this certificate I need to fly to Ukraine to take it.
It maybe a big problem for me. wacko.gif

Domestic travel within the USA is not a problem, immigrations status is checked only at the POE.

So just carrying a passport is sufficient then? Would carrying just an International DL for out of state travel be OK then?

I'm just trying to figure out the minimum amount of documents I'd need to carry around..

Hello everyone!

A question came up - my I-94 is due to expire on May 29th.

We are set to get married on the 27th of April. As soon as we get the certificate we'll file the AOS paperwork.

If I need to travel (within the US) what identification would be sufficient for the authorities if we get stopped or such? Will they have a problem with my expired I-94?

I do also have a current INTERNATIONAL driver's license.

Thanks!

Hi Chi,

My discovery is that USC counsulars are not as "mean" as they are rumored to be, provided you tell the truth and have enough to butress your point.
Go in with every document required, confidence and a smile afterall you are genuine....oh and a lot of pictures too!

They socialize and know the culture there too.If you are not sure then operate on a need to know basis.
I think the whole essence of the interview is to ensure you are marrying for real and a traditioanl marriage prooves that.If asked why you were so sure as to go into marriage, tell the truth its becuse you love him.
They are humans with blood in their veins too.

GOOD LUCK

hi, or i shoud just leave, go back and start a life between my family again, better than get deported as it is humalating in my opinion.
thank you if you stop to reply or even if not, and i hope that you guys try hard in your marriages.

Divorce should be your last option from every stand point its a painful journey and O .....people change in divorce proceedings.Try your possible best to save your marriage if all else fails then you know you tried your best!

I believe the only people that you owe expalnations as to the validity of your marriage is your wife (if she cares) and USCIS dont buy the nonsense of peole telling you from their high horses to go back home...unless they would buy your plane ticket.I also do not know any of the 50 states where divorce is automatic, there is usually a wait time.I am not USCIS but i beleive there has to be a valid reason for deportation order and even at that you would be given an option of voluntary depature.

Stay Strong and keep your eyes open!

Moroccans have a reputation to marry for papers then Divorce and remarry Moroccan girls, I'm in the Boston Area and I'm Moroccan, And it is standard procedure. For your case, it's just easy to save the marriage, But if it's not possible, you have to talk to a lawyer, people at this Forum will try to help, but the facts are still the same.

thanks everyone for taking the time to reply.
JoeyJoey I didn't realize that a reminder letter is send out. Do you know what time frame prior to the three months it is sent?

He called me a few months ago asking for the divorce papers. I told him he needs to get his own copy. I don't think that he is resourceful enough to get the needed papers. If he hired a lawyer that he might be able to pull the paperwork together. Additionally he remarried someone outside of the states and I can forsee him not marking yes he remarried. If he answers no and the USCIS finds out that he did get married can he be denied based on one false statement?

Yes I'm moving on but I know that he hasn't held a job and has proven himself to not be resposible so as much as I'd like to just drop everything I forsee that down the road he might apply for means tested benefits. So I'm concerned for my future finances.

I'm getting much closer in my decision to contact immigration. To what department/address do I write a letter informing them that we are divorced, that he remarried and that I believe that his intentions in the marriage weren't bonafied. Can I go to the location where we interviewed for adjustment of status? or let up an info pass appointment.

Gosh! what else do you want to hear? make an infopass appointment and tell them your marriage failed because "he used me for a green card"....trust me spite always comes back to hunt you

Look up the name change laws for your state. In certain states, if you do not change your name at the time of marriage, you need to go through a legal name change process. After doing that you can file the I-90.

Another option is just to wait till you file for Naturalization, as you can change your name then and that serves as a legal name change from which you can change your drivers license, etc. It's Part 1, question D on the N-400.

Thanks again for the info!
I appreciate it a lot.....

If by saying that you are in the process of removing conditions, do you mean you are putting the paperwork together or you have filed the I-751?

timeline.gif http://www.visajourn...le.php?id=14494 your timeline and profile dont give us much information to understand your immigrations status, profile still says "Filed for K-1" which indicates you have not received visa yet, how about updating that to AOS approved, or Filled for: Removal of conditions. http://www.visajourn...h...rCP&CODE=01

Please fill in these details.

I already filed the I-751.
I didn't change my name when i married.
But now i feel it is necessary to do it.
At this point you will have to wait for 10 year green-card, and then after getting card, you can file I-90 to change name on the card, you will need to pay a fee for this.

You could have filed I-751 using new name, but this is not an option now.

How to change my name on my driver license & SSN?
Should i do it now and then after i get my 10 year green card, i will file I-90?
Thanks for the info!!
