I have the check! Actually, my mom has the check, so I don't lose it! That's why I spaced putting it on the list, lol! I, unfortunately, don't have copies of his passport/birth certificate, but then again, I never saw that they were required. As far as the G-325A goes, I have 4 pages for each of us, like the old one used to do (but it's the new form).

I feel like I'm going to pull my hair out right now...lol

They will see his passport at the interview so you should be good to go.
If anyone else thinks the passport copy is required they should speak up.
I thought it would be good for proof of meeting (his visits to you).

Ah, his passport doesn't have any stamps or anything from his visits to me, because he's only stayed like a week here or there. In fact, the longest he's spent here was a month, and that was just last month. They've never really done anything at the border (driving or flying) for either of us, other than my student visa.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think I have everything...
Alright. I've had some pretty astonishing nightmares the last few nights, as I'm planning to send off my big ol' bundle of papers, pictures, and photocopies this Friday. I've always thought that a second or third (or in this case, an entire forum)'s opinion is best, so I come to you now to make sure I'm not forgetting anything. You all have been so helpful to everyone else, and of course I've read the guides, but you never know.

Anyhow, here it goes.

- Cover Letter, Signed & Dated (I know this isn't required, but I like organization...)
- I-129F, Signed & Dated
- Letter of Intent, Signed & Dated (Petitioner)
- Letter of Intent, Signed & Dated (Beneficiary)
- G-325A (x4), Signed & Dated (Petitioner)
- G-325A (x4), Signed & Dated (Beneficiary)
- Passport Photo, Full name on back (Petitioner)
- Passport Photo, Full name on back (Beneficiary)
- Supplemental for Question 18, Signed & Dated
- Proof of Citizenship - Birth Certificate Photocopy
- Proof of Citizenship - Passport Photocopy - Every. Single. Page. (the reason I'm sending this as well is because I no longer have the birth certificate -- this photocopy was a previous photocopy that I had made for my Canadian Student Visa application - because I made like 10 of them for some odd reason... and the passport copy also includes my Student Visa paper --AND the stamp-- which is still stapled inside of my passport)

Evidence was all stated as being included when I wrote the Supplemental for Question 18... and includes:
- Proof of Meeting/Relationship - Photos (x8, all labeled with names and locations, with dates ranging from 2006-Present)
- Proof of Meeting/Relationship - Canadian Student Visa approval letter (since I lived with him during that time)
- Proof of Meeting/Relationship - Acceptance letter from Canadian College (goes along with the approval letter)
- Proof of Meeting/Relationship - Letter of Support from his dad (since he's still living with his parents, they offered to support me during my schooling)
- Proof of Meeting/Relationship - Plane ticket stubs from his various flights (he drove down here mostly, though..) as well as the emailed itinerary from my first bus trip to see him back in 2006
- Proof of Meeting/Relationship - Engagement Ring receipt (despite the fact that it's starting to fade.. oy.)

I do believe that's everything. Not a whole lot to prove up a relationship (besides the pictures and the receipt) at this point, but I plan to send all of the pictures, as well as the cards we've given each other, and maybe a few written and notarized statements from family/friends, since we really don't have anything else. We tried getting past phone bills, but we couldn't, and neither one of us thought to save chat logs from MSN or whatever, so I'm hoping that they'll be okay with what we have. Guess I can't really worry about that right now... (although I will be.... whistling.gif )

Either way, I'm worried I forgot something, despite checking a million times myself, and that's why I've come to you all. (maybe if only for re-assurance....I don't know.. lol)

Thank you so much for taking time to read this! kicking.gif

Here ya go! Just look up what province you're in, and then it should list the Detachments for that province! http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/

I know the page for the Hamilton detachment in Ontario also lists what you need to bring when you go to get it... so I would think that all of them would, too. smile.gif

I have another question about this form actually. If your 5 year employment history is longer than the table on the form (been through a lot of fixed term contracts wink.gif ) should I provide the additional ones on an extra sheet of paper?

I suspect the answer is probably yes but thought I'd double-check smile.gif

(PS. FINALLY filling out the forms...very scared but very excited!!! biggrin.gif)

J

You answered your own question. smile.gif Just make sure that the page is clearly marked as to what it is (Form name, Question number, etc) and you'll be good to go! smile.gif

QUOTE (childress_london @ Oct 4 2009, 01:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The new form only prints out one copy. Does this mean they only need one copy now and not four?

This hasn't really been clarified by USCIS yet (to my knowledge...), so to be safe, always always ALWAYS print FOUR! smile.gif Better safe than RFE, ya know? GOOD LUCK!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPayment...Personel Check ok?
Payment in personal check is often preferred, because the check will usually clear your bank a few days prior to you getting NOA1, and then you can see the check online (if you do online banking) and your case number will be on the back of it. smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting Other Half while I-129F being processed...
Make sure you have PLENTY of ties back to UK - letter from your employer stating that you're expected to return on a certain date, rental agreement, etc. Then when you go through, just remember to never supply more than they ask of you. Just say that you're visiting your significant other (my fiance actually told him he was visiting his fiance this past time) and answer their questions. If you can, get your fiance to email a copy of NOA1 and print it off, and then you can show if they ask. Your only job when you enter the States is to help them to see that you have no intentions on staying permanently; that you're going through the process.

With all of that, you should be fine. When my fiance flew in last month, they didn't ask him about the pending visa at all, and all he took with him was a letter from his boss stating he had to be back to work on a certain date.

Try to relax; you'll be okay! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 and support docs if I need co-sponsor

If my income or financial history is dicey and I need a co-sponsor does he have to fill out an I-134 and provide tax returns, pay stubs, and bank statements along with my own as part of my original fiancee application 129F form submission?

Affidavit of Support isn't submitted with the original petition. You won't need it until your fiance's interview, but it's better to get all the stuff together ahead of time. :) Other than that, yes, they'll have to submit the same documents you would have to.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConfused about Fees - Canada
$455 - Original filing fee
$275 - Medical
Other smaller fees: Passport pictures, birth certificate, police clearance, travel expenses, shipping expenses. These vary by where you live, obviously.
(You need 3 passport pictures for your medical, if I remember correctly)

Packet 3 (the forms you listed in your post) has NO FEES.

The fee you pay at the interview (as of today's date) is $131 US. Like mentioned above, however, they are probably going to raise it to the $350. For the interview, you need 2 more passport pictures and an XPRESSPOST envelope.

Check out some of the Montreal Embassy reviews for a better idea of things like that, too. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWho is the best K1 visa lawyer?
Unless you have something that would raise red flags (such as a previous overstay, criminal history, etc), most of us will tell you that you can do this whole process yourself. 99.9% of lawyers will just cost you more time and money than it'd be worth to just go through the process yourself. The guides here on VJ are wonderful, and if you search around, any question can be answered. The wealth of knowledge is at your fingertips and everyone here will be willing to help you. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent..for K1 in Montreal?

How were the consulate officers in Montreal? nice? aggressive?

If you want a better overview of how they are, you should come and search the Canada forum for others' Consulate reviews. :) That's going to be your #1 sign to how the interview will go. From what I've heard, they're all pretty nice, like Inky said. That's probably one of the few things I'm not worried about when it comes time to go to our interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAPPROVED !!!!

No application has even been filed. A petition has been approved. Soon the foreign beneficiary will be invited by the Consulate abroad, to apply for a visa.

The OP's premature celebration is understandable but it also indicates they've failed to sufficiently study the guides and learn the process. Doing so will be critical for ultimate success.

D'OH! I meant petition! LOL. I blame the fact that I'm running on only a few hours of sleep. But yes... PETITION. Not Application. :) And yes, please please ready the guides in the link up at the top of the forums! :)
frenzyheartFemaleCanada2010-01-10 03:45:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAPPROVED !!!!
Yes, your application was approved, and is now being forwarded to the National Visa Center, who will forward it onto the Embassy you indicated in your application. They will send your fiance a package to fill out, and then there will be a medical exam, and finally -- the interview at the Embassy. You are celebrating a bit prematurely, but it's okay!! Everyone is allowed to get excited about their NOA2.

I hope the next steps in your journey are as successful as the first! Take care! :)

Please check the dates on your I-134 form.

Please check the dates on the original post that you quoted. 2007. Back when they had to be notarized. :) Just thought I'd point that out. It would seem that someone pulled up an old thread to ask a question instead of just making a new one. (Makes things a little confusing... )

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCheck List K-1 PROOF of Evidence, Domicile-->

I'm informed only the Applicant is Allowed in the Montreal Consulate and no one else.

It says right in Packet 3 that the Canadian citizen is allowed to bring a US Citizen (obviously the fiance) to the interview. Not sure who told you otherwise, but you are allowed to go. I'm attending my fiance's interview with him on the 17th, and a fair number of those that frequent the Canada forum here on VJ also had their significant other in attendance.

As for domicile, I'm just going off what I've been told. Like I said, even if they never ask for it, it's better to be over prepared.

You should take a look around the Canada forum and search for Embassy reviews that the members have written. That will give you a more definitive idea of how things will go for you, as well as tips/ideas for the stay in Montreal.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCheck List K-1 PROOF of Evidence, Domicile-->
It sounds like you have all of your ducks in a row. I might also suggest that you attend the interview with her, if possible. It would definitely make things more easier. Although, I'm re-reading it, and I'm not sure that you really need to have proof of domicile. I think that's more geared towards K-3/CR-1 applicants, but in the end it really doesn't hurt to be over prepared. :)

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp! Getting Married Just before leaving on K1 visa

Are you serious? The whole point of the K-1 visa is to get married in the US. If you wanted to get married in your country you should have gotten married and applied for the K-3. I don't mean to sound mean or short but I can't believe all that is involved in the getting the visa and now that you have it, its still is not good enough. They only suggestion I have is to have a mock ceremony in which you will not really be married or come her get married and go back and have a mock ceremony. Good Luck! (shaking my head)

Just to note: K3 technically no longer exists. It would be the IR-1/CR-1 process they would have to go through if they chose to go that route.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian to apply for a K-1 with a concern about the Affadavit of Support
Heya! Well, since you are going through the Montreal consulate, I can be of some help to you! Form I-134 WILL be required, but it's nothing to fret over. There have been lots and lots of students filing, and when we filed, I didn't have a job, either, because I was in school full time.

Here's what you need for it:

I-134 - filled out by your fiance.
Tax documentation, generally for the last 3 years (they prefer it to be in the form of tax transcripts, which he can get for free through the IRS website)
Any other documentation to prove the financial information he provided on the form. There's a list of things within the instructions that explains what can and can't be used. Also, a letter from his manager/boss stating his job information would be useful.

I-134 - filled out by your co-sponsor; this is generally ONE of his family members that makes over the poverty threshold for the number of people in their respective household.
Same here as what your fiance submits, only for the the co-sponsor.

For ours, we used my grandfather. We had a letter from his employer and proof of his tax information, and we also threw in that he owns his house completely, with which we provided documents from the city to prove so.

The instructions for the form are pretty simple, and like I said, it's really nothing to worry about if you have that co-sponsor.

Hope I helped, and good luck! Feel free to stop by the Canada forum and check out interview reviews and such - lots of useful information! :)

EDIT: LOL Inky mentioned something I forgot to. Oops. :P He can either send you the information, or he can travel up there and attend the interview with you, and bring it himself, hehe.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresnext preparations?

Hello all, I posted in the ME/NA forum, but I thought maybe I should post in here too... I just mailed my K1 pkg to TSC on Monday, April 24. I am waiting to hear of NOA1 any day now, but I'm wondering what's next? I'm sure the info is somewhere, but I can't seem to locate it. What do I need to start preparing next? All I can do now is obsessively check my bank acct to see when my check clears! :P It seems there should be something else I should be doing.... is there? :help:
Thanks a million!

Hi Everyone,

For those of you who provided an email address, did you receive your NOA via email -and- snail mail? What email address did it come from? I'm afraid that mine might go into my junk mail and I might delete it by mistake!

I filed my I-129F on 4/26/06 with the NSC, so I'm hoping to receive my NOA1 this week....

Thanks!!

NOA1 came via snail mail. If you register and sign up, NOA2 will first come via email, followed by the snail mail a week or so later.

Our I-129F application was returned yesterday after 18 days. I sent the application to the Omaha, NE address and I was supposed to send it to USCIS/NSC, PO Box 87130, Lincoln, NE 68501-7130. Also they said that they cannot accept personal checks and that it has to be a Cashier's Check or a Money Order. I am resending today overnite mail with a notification for delivery. So we're back to square one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish you the best of luck this time. I know your feeling. Mine was also returned the firt time I sent it in. I sent the wrong amount $. They took my personal check, don't know why they wouldn't take yours.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Arrived!!!!!!!!

I got my NOA2 today in the e-mail!!!!

Now, I am a little confusted about he further process. Do I just gather the financial information and send it to my fiance together with the initial F129 Packet?

Can I do it right away, or I have to wait for something else from the USCIS?

Can he begin to gather his documents now, or he should receive something else, first? Please, help! What do we do now? I don't want to loose any time!

Thank you!

You will also need to send your NOA2 approval form you got from uscis. Relax, you have a little time yet but now is the time to prepare everything you will send to your fiance. The original I-129F, a copy of the entire I-129F, the affidavit of support form and any corrosponding papers. You will want the originals and at least one copy of each original (I did 3 copies of all). Also you will need to send (or your fiance will have to provide) evidence of your ongoing relationship. After your I-129F approval, it is sent to the NVC for 2-4 weeks, then forwarded to the foreign consulate. The foreign consul will send a packet to your fiance with instructions and forms.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp. Not sure if I should begin application process now?
[quote name='magickatdragon' date='Mar 20 2006, 09:23 PM' post='84675']
I would recommend waiting the two months. One--it'll cut down on the harrassing paperwork, which, unless you have it all ready now, will take at least a week or two to get together. Which would put down your waiting time to 6weeks. In the long run in this process that's not a lot.

You could maybe get everything together so that when you find out for sure you can either send in your papers right away or look into the K-3.

You could do as magickatdragon says, which makes good sense to some degree, or you could file for the K-1 now. Your biggest loss would be the time spent preparing the forms and the $170 filing fee. But your gain could be 2 months, which in the realm of the average 6-8 months for the k-1 visa process, could mean a lot. I've read that k-3 visas are typically a month or 2 longer, but don't quote me on that.

Well the official date on the NOA1 from the CSC was March 14. I didn't get it in the mail until March 18th. The case was touched on March 20th with no other contact since. I saw a few NOA2s received yesterday that were from March 6th and 8th. So do you think this week or next, I'll either hear something about approval or an RFE? Dan has been gone too long already. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresToo much?

dont send em that stuff. Their only interest at this point is that you have the right to petition (USC), that you have met at least once in the two previous years, you are free to marry.....and nothing else. Chat transcripts dont prove any of these points. The USCIS is in no position to guage the quality of a relationship. Only a CO with a face to face interview can do this, so save that stuff for the interview with pictures, etc.

I guess I should have been more specific but I assumed those responding to my post would also note my time line and see that we've already been approved and I am preparing evidence for her to provide to the consul at her interview. No harm. Thank you all for your advice.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresToo much?
My fiancee and I have been chatting for almost 2 years. Along with other items, I plan on sending her several of our chats as evidence of our ongoing relationship. My original plan was to send one chat from each month but with the average chat 5-6 pages long, that's quite a large bundle of paper (about two inches thick). Is it a good idea to send this much or is it overkill? How many would be enough to safely satisfy requirements?
Thank you

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance thinking of moving to a different city

Hi everyone,

Just wondering how this would affect our application: We are currently awaiting our NOA2 (arriving possibly some time next month), and my fiance is thinking of moving from Reno, Nevada to Las Vegas, Nevada. On the I129 form, I had written down that I'll be living at the Reno address when I move to the States. How will this affect our application? If my fiance does decide to move, who should we notify (CSC/NVC/Consulate?) and when should we notify them (before/after receiving the NOA2)?

Anyone out there gone through something like this?

Thanks.

-ajmc

To answer all questions asked...It should not affect your application at all except for, at most, a couple days in the mailing of your approval. You should notify USCIS per instructions when the move is made.
treyNot TellingPhilippines2006-05-22 15:26:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouches??

after I receive my NOA1, will I then know my reference no. or case no.? how do I check with the USCIS to find out updates on my case? I hear everyone tracing their cases "touches" and I just want to know how I will do this? Will this website trace my case from the NOA1 all the way to when it is mailed to NVC or all the way to Juarez?

Go to USCIS.gov and click on "Case Status & Processing Dates" on the right side. On the next page that opens, click on "Register" on the left side. Then follow the steps to register. Then you'll be able to check the progress of your petition online and have the option to receive email notification when you are approved. You will get a case number when your I-129F has been approved. USCIS will give you a different number while your petition is being processed.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of ongoing relationship

That pretty much covers it all.

1. Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file.
2. Color Photo's of you and your fiance(e). Make sure you write your names, date, and location on the back of every photo. Provide two to five photo's. If you only have a single copy of the photo, then make a color copy and send that. If it is a digital photo, have it printed at a company such as ofoto.com. You can also make duplicates of photo's at your local photo store (Walgreeens, CVS, etc). Place photo's in a plastic bag or photo sheet and label the sheet. Note that you may not receive originals of photo's back.
3. Copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)
4. Copies of phone bills, cell phone bills, emails (you can edit personal info with a marker), letters (edit personal info also), stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions About Preparing Packet

As I'm making the final preparations, I have several questions for anyone who's already prepared their packet.

1. How did you organize all the documents? Did you staple anything together?

2. Did you use a manilla envelope? I was planning on mailing mine via Fed Ex, has anyone shipped it this way?

3. Copies of receipts and boarding passes - Did you make color copies of the boarding passes?

4. Declaration Letter of Relationship - How detailed or personal did you make it? Did you keep it to one page?

5. Yahoo Messenger Archives - Should I print out all the chats we've had? If so, this will make the packet enormously thick? How much is too much?

6. Emails - How important are these? What about editing out personal stuff?

7. Greeting Cards - my fiancee has sent me a ton of cards - should I make copies of the both the outside and inside - should I make color copies?

8. Passport style photos in plastic bags - Did you use a small office style bag or would a ziploc bag be ok?

9. Photos of us together - I have about eight, 4 X 8 prints. How should these be attached to the document? Can they just be loose inside the envelope?

Thank you for any help. I know these sound like silly questions, but I just don't want my application to be delayed for any silly reason.

You never said, but I am presuming you are preparing your I-129F packet to mail to USCIS. If so, you are wanting to enclose far too much information at this point. Emails, greeting cards, and chats won't be needed until your fiancee is preparing for her interview. At this point, the only steps you have listed that are necessary are #1 (do not use stapels-use paperclips), #2 (manila envelopes are good, Fed-Ex is good), #3 (I made color copies, but b/w will suffice for the I-129F), #4 (one page is plenty long-just summerize your relationship from when you met to present date), #8 (I used sandwich bags), and #9 (again, sandwich bags-paperclipped to the copies from #3). Number 9 would/could be used in conjunction with supporting evidence that you have met in the previous 2 years. Remember to send copies and retain originals(or certified copies) to send to your fiancee for her interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalling card

So there I was at the store sending some money to my fiance and had a little talk with the store owner. To make the story short. He said that I cannot use the calling cards that I used for evidence. Is this true? The calling cards I'm using is call ESCANDALOS and I manage to get copies of the phone bills history just for this reason. I mean I got stacks of it here and ready to be send in with the I-129F. I even kept the used calling cards. Tell me this is not true.

Take a deep breath and don't start off the process by listening to a store owner who is clueless (does he think he's an immigration attorney on the side?)

Copies of your phone bill history from the calling card will be just fine. Don't send stacks of anything. Stick to proof of having met in the past 2 years and proof of ongoing relationship and try to relax. You have a long way to go and there will be plenty of time for worrying!!!

Well said.
