QUOTE (EdwinandMary @ Apr 15 2008, 01:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Doesn't hurt to try to call the U.S interest section in Cuba to see if they received the case here's the number again....011 53 7 833 3551. If they received your case, then you can set up appointment to have you girlfriend pick up the package. At the same time, they will give you a 800 number to call to set up an interview date. (which you have to buy a pin for). When you call the 800 number make sure you have you girlfriend passport number, and date of birth.

Thanks so much for your help and been so patient with me.

Good Morning to all:

This morning I called the NVC and they told me that they mailed my file on April 10, 2008, to the US interest section in La Havana with my new case number that begins with the letters HAV. The question is what should I do next? Should I call the US interest section in la Havana to find out if the packet arrived or is too early. Can I call and set up an appoinment for my girlfriend to pick up the packet if is ready? Will I have to buy a pin number to to this.

Cuban files what phone number or fax number should I call or fax to find out if the packet arrived and to schedule an appoinment for my fiancee to pick up packet number three.

Please advice.,

Good morning:

I have been calling 011-53-7-833-3551 at the US Interest Section Office at la Havana, but the only replied I get is a short voice mail which is really hard to understand and then nothing else. I have spent enough money trying to reach this office. Have any other Cuban files have experience the same or if YOU HAVE ANOTHER PHONE NUMBER where I can call to check Our File arrived at la havana to set up an appointment to have my fiancee pick up the package number Three (3). I need this information in order to set up an appoinment for the interview.

Please I need help.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Got bumped from an early interview date
This morning I callled the 1-800 with the pin number and they gave me an early interview visa date in June but I since I did not have my fiance's passport number when I called she cancelled that date. I went home and got her passport number and did called again, this time I really did had a hard time with a lady that did not seems to speaks english or spanish, whatever, reason, she first told me that I did not need to set up an interview date for my fiance which I knew it was wrong, she told me that the US Interest Section at la Habana will automatically set up a schedule date, after discussing with her, she gave me a inteview date at the end of September, I got very upset and requested to talk to her supervisor, who told me that the early date tht I was given in June was because some had cancelled but that date was no longer available. He did set up an early date but for August 28, 2008. I was still very dissapointed, because from June to the end of August are 90 more days, but I did not have a choice. So the schedule date for my fiance will be August 28, 2008.

It is really frustrating getting bumped like that. What a sad experience.

Well I advise all Cuban filers to follow up on their visa journey, because even the personnel at the US Departmet of State in Wash DC. gave me one information and then two differents employees at the US interest section in la Havana gave me wrong information.

As a reminder the employee from the Department of state, told me that her computer showed that my fiancee was contacted and package 3 was delivered to her that I could it go ahead and set up the visa interview date with the pin number and the 1-800. But even this information was wrong because my fiancee was not contacted nor package number three delivered to her. It seems a total chaos and lack of communication between offices. What a shame for a US Federal Agency that just raised their fee's to provide a better service.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Packet Number Three
Hi:

Just to keep in touch with everyone that has been so helpfull in this process. My fiance pick up packet number three (3) at the
US interest Section Office in la havana and now she began to comply with all the requirement.

Althought I submitted an affidavit of support with the I-129 F, I have to send her another one because It was requested and more documents to sustain our ongoing relation.

Knowing my fiancee she will complete all her requirement soon. Now it is the long waiting period until her visa interview date at the end of August 2008.

I am trying to keep my mind busy in my job and otherthing, otherwise I will go nuts.

I will have to do my time like everyone else in this forum has done befoe me.

Well I just want it to let you know how I feel and to those that the wating seems too long you are not alone. Here we stand together.

A newer one will be needed for the interview the information included with it needs to be from closer to the interview date.

One thing about I-134, the directions included with I-134 are very old, USCIS has no reason to update them since USCIS has no application for that form.

The consulates tend to treat the I-134 like a mini-I-864 as so prefer the same financial evidence as the I-864.

In our case this what the I-134 included.
  • I-134 signed and notarized.
  • SIMPLE Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq1-6.html
  • Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years (Not necessary if you provide the transcripts)
  • Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.
  • Photo copies of past month or so of pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.
My income was well above the povertyline so I did not include any asset data (LIKE BANK STATEMENTS or property values).

If your income exceeds 125% or (100% for military) of the povertyline when counting yourself, prospective immigrant and any dependents, then don't bother with assets (401K, Bank balance, Stocks etc..), it is just extra un-needed data to provide, the consular officer is most concerned with INCOME.

USCIS did not require it for the petition and probably discarded it.

Thanks!

Hi to everyone in this journey:

I am a Cuban Filer. When I submitted my I-129 F to the Vermoth Visa Center I included the Affidavit of Support. Now that we are wating for the visa interview at the US interest section in the Havana I am wondering if the copy of the Affidavit of Support I mailed to my fiancee will be accepted at the visa interview. Or should I complete a new Affidavit of Support, get in notarized and mail it to my fiancee. If any Cuban filer now about this issue, please I need the advice.

They told me that they are scheduling people for Jan 2009.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Medical test requested by the US consulate
Hi to everyone is this forum:

I am a Cuban petitioner of a fiancee visa. My fiance went to the facilities indicated by the US interest Section in la Havana to have the medical test they required. My question is: If anyone knows how much it the fee or cost to have the medical test requested by the consulate.

I know that Cuban immigration charge 450.00 cuc for their medical tests and 150.00 cuc for the Carta Blanca. I also know that the cost of the visa appointment is 132.00 cuc to be paid at the US interest Section in la Havana.

Now, how much is the cost for the medical test requested by the US interest Office in la Havana and the result that had to be taken along with all the paperwork for the Visa appointment.

Any Cuban Filer that had gone through this process may be able to answer me.

Thanks for your support,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFees for medical exams
Good morning to everyone: I have been busy reading all the comments you posted. Specially the ones from Cuba, since mi girlfriend is Cuban. I file my I-129 F on March 12, 2008 and up to day I have not received any reply from Vermont Center. Nevertheless I am positive and reading all the posting. I believe I submitted all the documents needed for the adjudication of my petition.

Now, Will someone tell me how much will be the cost of the medical exams in Cuba. Will the US Interest Section in la Habana, allow me to send her this money?

Once the petition arrives at the US Interest section in la Habana can I call for the interview or do I have to wait for my fiancee to pick the package at the embassy and complete them before I can call to make the appontment for the interview.

Thanks for all the comments and support I have received so far and I am learning more aboud the procecure.

May God bless you all.

The problem is that you're interviewing with a US consulate and even though they may know that it's common for couples to refer to each other as such, some of those consulates also deny petitions if the officer even suspects there is a marriage.

For instance, a couple from India was just denied because they had a 'non-legal' ceremony and included the pictures.

It is YOUR burden to prove you are not married. Hard to do in many places around the world.

It's fine if that's the way you refer to each other... I realize it's the norm in some places. But you are going through the US immigration process and should take nothing for grated. There are some consulates/officers that are just looking for reasons to deny people. Sad...but true.

So, while it may be common place for you to refer to each other as husband and wife and while you're probably going to be ok ....there are a lot of people reading this from other countries that most certainly would not be if they did the same.

You are right. But when we wrote to each other we did not know about the US Inmigration and Consulate procedures. Since I been in this site I have learned a lot. AS a warning for other that may have not file yet be aware of this issue.

I realize it's a cultural thing and respect that fact but I'm also aware that a lot of consulates frown on this. I know mentioning it at the border when visiting is a big no-no so I would imagine it would raise a few flags at some stage that don't need to be raised. wink.gif I doubt you'll have troubles but I would advise against it for others reading this.

I am a litter worry because on the e-mails I submitted with the I-129 for my Cuban fiancee we wrote to each other as husband and wife. It is just the way we call each other since we lived together for a while. Howecer we are not legally marry. We are both free to marry each other once she arrive to Puerto Rico.

Also is very natural and part of the culture to call each other husband and wife in the Habana when you live with your fiancee.

Will that affect in a negative way my petition for fiancee visa? Withe the Packgage I submitted the of "solteria" certificate stating she is single.

Please I need some advice.
