United KingdomPostal strike??!?!
QUOTE (Justine+David @ Oct 14 2009, 12:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It seems like they're always going on strike....are they really that badly treated or are they being greedy?

no0pb.gif No there not treated badly at all ive worked for Royal mail before and its easy going their just being greedy, if they kick up a fuss every now and then Royal mail gives out £1000 incentive bonuses to every member of staff if the overall figures improve and they’ve done this quite a few times now so the staff know if they want a bonus just go on strike or at least the unions do.
I wouldn’t worry to much about the backlog it wont take long to clear, again its all extra money for the staff in overtime + as far as im aware its not a general strike different sorting offices are taking turns so there is a good chance it wont affect anything. As far as getting stuff lost there being a strike wont make any difference it just happens from time to time, There are plenty of other options to use courier wise: TNT, UPS, Parcel force (Part of Royal mail but doesn’t go through the same depots), FedEx, etc.... just google it

United Kingdombest way to contact the embassy
Hello fellow VJ'ers
What’s the best way to contact the embassy in London regarding a K1? Is there an email address, as I don’t really fancy paying £1.60 per minute or whatever it is to phone them! im not really even sure as to what number to ring as regards finding out about where my packet 3 is, its been quite awhile since it left the NVC im starting to get a bit worried. Especially as there were several other couples who got there NOA2 at the same time as me and now have interviews! unsure.gif What can go wrong between that point and the interview other then it getting lost? Anyhoo im asking 2 many questions in one post.
Thanks for any help good.gif

United Kingdompacket 3 help. please
Hi UK V.J.ers I was hoping you could help clear something up for me that has been confusing me since preparing packet 3 to be sent back to the embassy. When sending back the IV-15k and check list your meant to return the DS-230 pt.1, DS-156k, DS-156 and the DS-157 (x2) at the same time, right? (Same address as well?)
I presume when the instructions mention "do not send any documents with these forms" they are referring to evidence, photo's etc.. ?
Is that correct?

I'm trying to remember now what I did ----- I think I left the State/province part blank.

Can you remember what packet 3 forms you signed when you sent them back, I was told on a thread yesterday to sign them all except DS-156k which you do at the consulate? But now just before im about to post it out I notice on the Embassy info page here on VJ that you dont sign the DS-156 either. Is that correct?

and for the UKPA I'd put London, England, London since you've got no way of knowing which actual office produced it. This the HQ for the UKPA.

So you've posted 4 topics in 3 days...try doing a search?

I have and still cant find a concrete answer, if you know it would have been allot more helpful to tell me, I wouldn’t have needed to post 4 topics in 3days if id had a helpful direct answer from somebody, I though that was what this site was for. im not very good at filling forms at the best of times let alone for something so important to me and my fiancée, all I have is this site! United KingdomWhat Forms are to be signed when sent with packet 3
I’ve been trying to get these forms out the door for days now, im just trying to be thorough and get them right first time off. I got to the stage today after allot of reading and several VJposts, that I was ready to send it off today. luckily just as I was sealing the envelope I glanced at the UK embassy info page I had printed from this site and noticed that according to this I send the DS-230-1 signed, the DS-156 x2 un-signed, DS-156k un-signed, and the DS-157 no space for a signature.
The problem is I read on a post yesterday that everything is signed except the DS-156k & DS-157, so I have including the DS-156 which now apparently shouldnt be!!!! :ranting:
What actually needs signing and what shouldn’t be until the interview
(please only answer if you actually know the answer, unlike the original source of my info!!)
thank you

Hi everyone, can anybody tell me how they found out that the embassy had logged packet 3 into their system as I sent mine a couple of weeks ago and I’ve still heard nothing (hope it’s not been lost).
Im getting worried because the expiration period for my NOA2 is on the 6th of Feb and I don’t want them to think I’ve abandoned the petition. I was slow gathering the info together and visiting my fiancée for nearly a month
in-between didn’t help. Would phoning them help confirm that we are still perusing the petition?

Right, so I have just called, got a code, and emailed them with questions. Will they actually reply? I asked if there were any cancellations, to please move our date forward a week - and otherwise to add my sons name to the list to enter with us since the people meant to be watching him will be away on holiday.

Has anyone that has emailed gotten a reply from the embassy? And if so, how long did you wait to receive one? :)

Many thanks :)

As you've probably read in the above thread i was unsure as to which email address to send my request to. As i thought i couldn’t hurt i sent it to both (as recommended by others) I almost straight away got a automated response from the main email address (the one i believe you might want) londonconsular@state.gov
And as ive been writing this ive just had a personal response from londonIV@state.gov it couldnt hurt to email them both

haha :) I experienced these three things last week!

1. I had an Irish lady and ended up spending 20 pounds because I had to have her repeat everything a million times!

2. The email the extortion line is giving IS londonIV@state.gov, and that IS the email I eventually got a reply from.

G'luck

Thanks for confirming that ohlpomr. There's only so many times i felt i could ask him to repeat himself without sounding like an idiot or appearing rude  ! Hello everybody,
I’ve just spent more money then I wanted to (again! is it me or does it seem that you always have to wait 5minutes!!!! ) phoning the US Embassy (London) asking about my fiancé attending the interview with me as she is flying over that week. just spoke to a nice enough but very serious (and a little hard to understand) Scottish man who told me to email the Embassy and supply my case no# etc. and explain that I wish for her to attend and she would be added to the list. The problem is im not 100% sure I took down the email address right! And I don’t want to waste more money phoning them back up. Has anyone done this recently? Can you confirm the @ddress?
I wrote it down: londoniv@state.gov
I’d appreciate any confirmation as I presume the code they give you only works once and probably expires after 2day.
Thanks VJ'ers

US Embassy and Consulate Discussioninterview question for people who passed already
QUOTE (SamAndDorothy @ Sep 16 2009, 11:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Do they keep all the pics and all the stuff you bring? Reason i ask cause i would like my birth and her birth cerificate. If not, i would need her to go ahead and get another one before she leaves to come here.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t think they do, but it wouldn’t be much trouble to get another one (copy of) if that was the case. She would be best to get a copy before she leaves her home country if they do take it at the interview, because obviously it would be easier to get one whilst still there. But I would spend the money unless you have to.
MADforMEGHANMaleEngland2009-09-16 17:34:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussion? About when fiancé comes to the US for good!
Yeah i really wouldn’t worry about it, immigration aren’t going to. At the end of the day your quite entitled to use a return ticket if for some reason you wanted to headbonk.gif you'd just lose your visa.
But "Marriedtomrq" made a good point if you were to buy a return ticket i personally would inform the airline after landing that you wont be using the return flight or check before hand if they will charge you for not using it. This process is expensive enough without a little sting like that.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Date
Not that im aware of, just chill your nearly there. I only took me a just under 2months from the embassy receiving my packet 3 to my interview date. The only way to speed it up (not guaranteed) is to show you have a fixed weeding date/travel arrangements. In some cases they have apparently tried to accommodate them.

Yeah should be fine, if your fiancé meets the 125% above the poverty line requirements. I doubt you will have a problem with whot ya got. although you dont need anything to do with ur finance?s as there not interested, they only care about the USC's / co-sponsor's. unless they are in a joint account (which you both contribute to) if they are separate then they won’t consider your money as counting towards her money, if you know what I mean.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion4 days till interview

So it 4 days till i have my interview and i must say today was the first time it really got to me.
Got a little confused but I guessing when they say they want me to photocopy every thing I have e.g one original and one photocopy for them to keep?
So here's what I have Birth Certificate, Passport, Evidence of support which I can print off and my police certificate they want a photocopy of each?
Sorry for the noob question I really want to get this right. Also for evidence i have chat logs, letters, e-mails, photos, plane ticket stubs, cinema ticket, valentines card and a copy of the wedding invite which has a photo of me and my girl inside.
I'm I missing anything out ?

Sounds pretty good to me mate, I think you’ve got it covered. You don’t have to copy it but about the only thing you haven’t listed (apart from the appointment letter) is the two passport photo's you need to take. Oh yeah and of course you need to take the copies of the affidavit evidence, pay slips, tax transcripts, and letter from USC's employer etc..
Good luck my friend & I may see you there as my interview is on the same day.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionlondon embassy interview
Yeah they probably won’t even ask. I had no such questions all they cared about was the affidavit of support. Seriously I know everybody says this but as long as you’ve got everything you need and your forms are in order there really isn’t anything to worry about, me and my fiancé could help but laugh as we left because of all the stressing we had done before hand compared to how easy and stress less the interview experience was. Unless something really isn’t right about you or your forms the interview is just a formality to have your signatures witnessed and if you’ve got an interview date you can consider yourselves approved. i know it makes them sound cold but they dont care about the details of your wedding.
But good luck anyway folks (enven tho. you dont need it :) )

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionhow my change of address mess ups will affect removal of coditions
hi everybody,
that time has come again for more forms and stressing out with the USCIS "yay" :)

the subject of our stress and my questions to you guys comes in the form of a section on the i-751 (part3 #9) that goes:

Have you resided at any other address since you became a permanent resident?
(If "Yes," attach a list of
all addresses and dates.)

ok now this is where it gets a little complicated, we have moved twice since i got my conditional GC (only 5minutes down the road, my wife wants me to add!). both times i was late in filing the form AR-11 the first time was by about 6 months (i didnt know it had to be done) the second time was only by a matter of maybe a week as their online submission of the form wasn't work so after waiting for a few days for it to start working i just mailed it. it was probably idk a little over a week after the "10 days" it should be sent.

so first off i was worried like other people on here have been about it being late and is it a mistermeaner (which it is) and what they are going to do about it. i mean i assume im right in thinking that they will have a copy of any forms like this in my file and the purpose of including the question on the i-751 is to see if the dates line up?? idk

then as i started reading posts on here (to put my mind at ease!) i started seeing mention of this form i-865 that im starting to get the impression it should have also been sent along with the AR-11 by my wife! now if thats the case then not only were my AR-11's late the i-865's were never sent!! :bonk:

if this is the case and the i-865 is in fact needed when changing address then were in more trouble then i first thought! idk why but i did look at the i-865 when i first sent the AR-11 but i dismissed it thinking because it said sponsor that it was for the person the me and my wife had co-sponsor us as she was bellow the poverty line!! i dont see my wife as a sponsor i suppose.

also i forgot to mention that our leases im sending as evidence are the real give away of the dates not matching up with the sending of the AR-11 now the thought had crossed my mind to change the dates on the two leases we have which would solve the problem of the late AR-11's but that wont help the lack of i-865's and i really don't want to do that.

sorry for the long post and i really appreciate your input so thank you in advance

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioni-865 boo boo
hi everybody,

i need opinions as im stalling because i cant decide what to do
i'll try and keep this short and sweet.
i didnt know the i-865 existed till last week and im in the middle of my ROC 90days so time is of the essence. im not the first to forget i get that, and i get "just send it" but i have forgotten twice as i have moved twice. 5minutes down the road in 2010 and then back to the original house in late 2011

so should i send them 2 i-865's with the relevant moving dates on them or just the most recent? im worried either way will confuse them, the latter option will just inform them that ive moved to the address that they already have on file!

we did file AR-11's on both moves but i think they go to different departments then the i-856 we were late on those too :bonk:

QUOTE (KimberlyandMark @ Aug 27 2009, 03:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey everyone! Not sure if I am posting this in the right area but I am sure it will get moved if it is not. I am a June VSC filer that will have her foreign fiance interviewing in London hopefully by the end of the year (fingers crossed). I have a question about income. I am the USC and make well above the poverty line here in the US so the affidavit of support should not be a problem, but my fiance was made redundant (laid off) in March and has not been able to find a job since then. The UK economy is worse off than ours at the moment, at least where he lives. If he is still unemployed when he interviews in London, will this affect him getting his visa? He is planning on going back to school when he comes over after we get married so he will have more options for work after he get here. He just wanted to me to check with all of you about still being unemployed in the UK when his interview in London comes up. Thanks a bunch!

Kimberly

I hope it doesnt matter because there's a strong chance i will be made redundant before my interview unsure.gif

Thanks for your replies

Igor's list is a page of stats. made up from members timelines, of the two US service centres (Vermont & California) regarding the progress of K1,K3,IR-1 & CR-1 Visas it is useful for tracking the progress of the various petitions that are currently being processed and is also used to build up sats. Regarding historical trends in processing times (i.e. NOA1 - NOA2 average times) and give people estimated dates of approval. As far as im aware that’s basically it, you can find the various statistics and lists under: Immigration Timelines (which is in the blue bar at the top of the page

I was hopeful of a quick approval after watching Igor’s list slowly filling up for July and august and my estimated approval time going down, but still but I had no idea when we submitted the I-129F that it would be that quick! Vermont has really pulled their finger out in the last couple of months it seems. So if you’re a July, August filler and your still waiting watch this space I’ve been seeing chunks of approvals every day. Stay positive, it appears to actually works (my fiancé keeps telling me it every day and this pessimist is starting to believe!) your time will come, until then hold it down people yes.gif

Hello,

I've been lurking around this site for about a monh now and I'm really impressed with the amount of information here, and with the support everyone shows for one another. I must say I'm not an actual filer; I'm a mom of a filer. My 26 year old son has fallen in love with a wonder Iranian girl. The entire family (his and hers) are cheering them both on, and this is my way of learning and helping the beautiful young couple with this process.

The attorney sent the package in on August 27th, and Fedex claimed delivery on the 28th. Unfortunately, as of now the check has not been cashed. So we are all waiting to start waiting.

Just wanted to say. wish them good luck from us good.gif and it takes a couple of days for them to cash the cheque. + dont worry about the waiting for the waiting to start because there will be alot of waiting to go huh.gif lol.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGetting through customs on a visit
I know what UK customs can be like i had to argue with them for the release of my fiancée (girlfriend at the time) when she got pulled over to be secondary questioned. I am worried about the next time she comes to visit but personally the fact that we are now engaged and have applied for the K1 gives me more confidence about her being admitted, because apart from the evidence I always tell her to bring i.e. payslips bank statements etc. (she didn’t listen last time though) now she will also be able to say yes I am visiting my fiancé but I clearly have no intention of staying as we have applied to get married and for him to live in the U.S.
Along with evidence of commitments in the U.S. and a copy of your NOA1 they shouldn’t have any grounds for denying entry.
I always think its a bad idea to lie to customs/boarded patrol although don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t, and I don’t advise you to volunteer information to them. Just say you are visiting friends of the family or family (not really lying either way) and only answer the questions they ask. What I have mentioned above would be my advice if they take you into secondary questioning.
But I wouldn’t worry too much as long as you've been out of the U.S. before and especially to the U.K. you shouldn’t have a problem. unless you mean by "a hard time" as secondary questioning in which case ive been told by them that they will hassle you again.

Just my opinions and experiences i hope it helps good.gif timeline.gif
