National Visa Center (Dept of State)time span from paying IV Bill to receiving DS-230 packet in the mail?

Do they even mail them out anymore? I suppose they do?

Anyway, you just print the barcoded sheet after you pay, fill in the DS-230, include the documents required and send it off, no need to wait for anything.

Have a look at the guide:

http://www.visajourn...ge_.28DS-230.29

I'm assuming it's the same barcode that I sent off with the I-864?

My $400 payment for the IV bill cleared on May 17th. It's now June 14th. What is the typical timespan to receive the packet? Do I need to wait for the packet to send it out?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)time span from paying IV Bill to receiving DS-230 packet in the mail?
Hello,

I paid the IV Bill on May 14th and payment cleared a few days later. I have yet to receive the DS-230. What is the typical wait time to receive the packet in the mail? Should I just move forward and send a filled out PDF form?

Thanks for your help.

Canadamedical question
QUOTE (Sam and Ben @ Nov 18 2009, 08:14 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
There are only four panel physicians in all of Canada, I believe: 1 in Vancouver, 1 in Toronto and 2 in Montreal. If you wanted to do the whole thing at once, giving yourself a week in Montreal for both the medical and the interview is a good idea, yes.

Your interview will be in Montreal if you are filing a CR-1 visa (you mentioned husband, so I'm assuming), as they are the only consulate in all of Canada that handles them.

Also, be sure to fill in your timeline, as it helps others answer your questions more easily. smile.gif

thanks alot!
i guess i'll stop complaing! 2.5 hours of driving isnt as bad as loosing a week of work & buying a plane ticket!

and we havent filed for out I-130 yet since we got married not even a month ago, so we dont have our wedding certificate.
I did fill my timeline in my profile, but it's not showing in my signature?

Canadamedical question
first post here... so sorry if its a frequently asked question, i didnt find anything about it

i am from quebec (husband is from los angeles) and we will be dealing with the montreal consulate right?
when it comes to the medical exam, i will have to go to one of the 2 doctors in montreal? is there any other approved doctors in quebec city? (not mtl?)
so if someone from is flying in from lets say PEI, they have to stay in montreal for a whole week to get their medical done and then the interview a week later?

thanks alot!

Canadaneed help with QC birth certificate
QUOTE (La Souris @ Dec 2 2009, 09:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I sent my file a few months ago and I sent them the Copy of an Act of Birth as it is what they were requesting http://travel.state....ocity_3531.html -- however, I have to admit that, as yours, most of the fields in mine are empty. Same for the Marriage (I did order both the certificate and the copy of an act - I'll have them for future reference) but I sent the copy of an act...

Then, I got the Copy of an Act of Birth translated... the marriage stuff was done in English from the start.

I can't remember who it was, but I read about someone getting an RFE for the "Copy of an Act" a while back; which is not too bad if you have it already, but why not send it from the start and save the hassle...

thank you so much for the reply!
yeah our copy of an act for the wedding is in english and we'll use that one. i was just really confused with the birth certificate.

and the person who got a RFE for the copy of an act, what is because they sent the copy of an act and it was wrong or their sent the regular certificate and they had to send the copy of an act?

thanks!

(well get through this! haha)

i already have both.
i have the birth certificate (the long ish one with my parents name on it)
but i also have the COPY OF AN ACT OF BIRTH which i thought was the long one! theres way more info on that one (but not mine since everything was left blank)

so ill just go with the regular one.

thanks guys!

i think i'll just get my regular birth certificate translated with my parents name and not the reallly long form with all my parents info on it (which is all blank anyways)

and it seems like i dont have to send a copy with the I-130 anyways? so it will give me time to get it translated while were getting the I-130 approved!

Canadaneed help with QC birth certificate
we are kind of confused as to what papers we should send for the birth and marriage certificate. (we are putting together the I-130 for the IR1-CR-1)

on this website; http://travel.state....ocity_3531.html
for the province of quebec, it says that the certificates accepted are COPIES OF ACT.

"Quebec: Applicants should obtain "certified copies of an act" from the Direction de l' Etat Civil in Montreal"

i have in hands our wedding certificate AND our copy of an act of marriage.

i also have my birth certificate AND my copy of an act of birth. both of those have my parents name on it. the problem is, the copy of an act has ALOT of blank spaces because if you were born before 1994, they dont have acces to most of those information. (parents adress, their date of birth, identification of the witness)

but on the US gouvernement website, it clearly says they need the birth certificate with my parents name on it. so they actually dont need the COPY OF AN ACT?

also, when sending the I-130 packet, do we have to include all our proof of relationship or keep that one minimal and bring everything to the interview later?
(like the phone bills, plane tickets, pictures, letters from friends about our relationship ect)

thanks alot!

So i do:
log in, enter my passport #, date of birth, natl, click enter and it says:

I got an expresspost just in case, but I've signed up for DHL.

However, I'm confused as to whether I've actually signed up. I went to the https://usvisa-info.com/ website and signed up for the Abbotsford DHL office and got a reference ID. Do we print something off and bring it to the interview? The last step on the website was to schedule a date which I did not need to do because I am a cr-1. So I just signed out. Is that how it works??

I tried signing up and it says i dont have an interview date set...
I do, but we jsut received the email today. should i wait to sign up with DHL?

CanadaIR1 / CR1 - Montreal Timeline to Interview

Thought I would share my border crossing experience last night. I have been crossing the border a couple times a week to see my husband, and he does the same into Canada. I have never had an issue. I carry all significant ties to Canada with me as well as paperwork from our CR-1 journey. Last night I was told that while my petition is pending I am not allowed to be crossing the border. He went on and on about how they would think I was immigrating to the US illegally. I explained with full confidence that I have been crossing into the US since we have started the immigration process and I have NEVER had any tell me that. As well he kept repeating "while your petition is pending" and I kept correcting him that the petition has already been approved and I have all the paperwork to prove so. He then says "well, someone may deny you enty based on your pending approval, but have a good night." He hands me my passport and I leave.
The thing that really pisses me off about this is that he is practically lying to me. I know, as most of us do, that you are allowed to visit your spouse while the immigration process is in proceedings. If this was such a problem: 1) pull me in for secondary questioning, 2) not ONE border guards has said this to me before, 3) why just let me cross then, if this was such an issue. I have actually had other border guards say "its great you are doing it the right way" or "it must be hard living apart" then you have this guy.
I realize that he was either trying to trip me up or just intimidate me...but it makes me more anxious to finally have this process over with and not having to deal with issues like this anymore.

/rant

my friend went through the CR1 process with the help of a lawyer. She was pregnant for most of the process and her lawyer told her she had NO right to enter the US before she had her visa approved... while i was going in and out of the US with the same processus pending. It's a shame that there is nothing clear about entry with a pending visa.

(but then again, i got stuck in the immigration office once at the toronto airport and i remember clearly hearing the guy in front of me being told by an officer he didnt have the right to enter the US with a pending visa.... oh well)

what i hated about the consulate:
the first batch of people went in and i never saw them again

then i was the first one in the waiting room downstairs, first one in the elevator... but last one out! so i was the last in line to get my # :/

also, i got the letter E, which was useless?
the lady at the first booth looked confused as to why i was given a letter and kept it?

Other. And then specify: I-130 petition. This is according to the sample form on the website.

We made the silly mistake of checking Status as PR as it seems to be the most logical choice, so we called up USCIS and ensured that they understood we were pursuing a CR1.

Hi all..

Ok Sachinky, so let me tell u what I understand from this topic (correct me please if I'm wrong )

When the petitioner (the US citizen) submit the G-325A Form for himself he has to check: Other, and then Specify: I130 Petition - I wrote it exactly how it fits in the space available in the petition if it's filled out on the computer.

When the beneficiary (the spouse of US citizen) submit the G-325A Form for himself he has to check: Status as Permanent Resident

Thanks all in this matter!

so now there are 2 different takes on how to fill it out...hahaha. is there anyone that's completed the process that can confirm?

You would indicate status as permanent resident when submitting the g-325a with an I-485....

we're not submitting with I-485 so it looks like "other" - "I-130 Petition" for us both.

Other. You are submitting your g-325A in connection with the I-130 petition. Your wife is as well.

You are the petitioner (a fancier word for a type of applicant). Your wife is the benneficiary and once approved will become a visa applicant.

just so i'm perfectly clear:

as the petitioner, i should check "other" and write in "petitioner." my wife should check "other" as well and indicate "beneficiary" ?
