Hi everyone!

I'm writing to let you all know that we received my husband's GC today, 03-21-2012. So glad this part of the journey is over. Onward to Naturalization.

Saying prayers and sending positive thoughts to those of you still waiting. Shouldn't be long now. :)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 June 2011 Filers
Hi everyone!

We received our approval letter yesterday, dated 03/09/2012. We filed through VSC but the letter came from Charlotte, NC. Weird.

Also, I've been checking the USCIS status update for months now and it still says that our case is in the Initial Review stage. Hmmphhhhh.

Would someone please update our information?

Sending positive thoughts and wishing everyone good luck through this last leg of your CR journey.

Hi again! :)

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have our biometrics appointment scheduled for August 8, 2011 in Raleigh/Durham. I was starting to worry but it seems to have worked out.

If someone would please update our information, I would be most grateful.

Middle East and North AfricaFriday Friday Friday

ok ok so the pee thing was a bit much for some ppl. I, personally wouldn't comment on the hubsters pee habits coz FOR ME that is just a little too personal. BUT if someone else wants to talk about it...no worries. That is their choice and to each their own. I'm not going to talk bad or tell anybody they are bad for what they talk about. It is their choice to discuss it. Just coz they talk about it doesn't mean I have to do the same. It was a little bit uncomfortable for me but I'm not their mother to tell them they can't talk about things like that. I don't let stuff like that bother me.

On a side note.. When my oldest sister was about 2 or 3 years old and potty training she fell into the toilet coz the lid was up. She was a tiny little thing so when she fell in, the only part left of her that was sticking out of the toilet was her feet. Seat has been down ever since.

 Love the website! :) The videos are wonderful and very entertaining! :pop: In fact, I'm still watching them.

Middle East and North AfricaGood Morning MENA - It's Saturday!!!!
LOL!! I have a 12 year old that feels the same way about "Abercrombie." Although, when it's HER money that she's spending, it's amazing how quickly she finds the "sale" and "clearance" racks. When it's MY money...lol...the same racks miraculously disappear. whistling.gif ....I'm just happy that she is the last one of three girls...(21, 19, 12)...when she's all grown, I might actually have some money in my pocket...lol...I feel your pain, Doodle...but trust me, they all go back to shopping at Wal-Mart when they start needing gas in their cars... yes.gif

Middle East and North AfricaSLEEPY SUNDAY
I look forward to the weekends because that is the only time when I can spend time with my SO and see his face. Our work schedules are about the same (believe it or not)...but he still has to work on the weekends. Fortunately, he works for his uncle. His uncle owns an internet cafe. Even though I don't really like this, it is our only way to "see" each other for now because he doesn't have a computer in his home yet...BUT...when I go there in October, I will get him one for his home. We both work very hard all week long and look forward to the two days that we can be together. We spend all day Saturday and all day Sunday together and this is the best part of my week. Don't get me wrong, we talk many hours on the day but this is the only time I can see his face and see the most beautiful smile that I've ever seen before.

yes.gif Yes, I am head-over-heels in love with this man....LOL!!! heart.gif

HI everyone....

I hope that everyone is having a great Friday morning - it has been a long week and I am thankful that it is Friday - I plan to relax this weekend, however I have a lot of cleaning and laundry to get caught up with...

Hoping for some more good news for everyone today and into next week - - I wouldnt mind my next post to be NOA2 received..hahaaa..

Edited to add - those of u who deal w/the crazy connections in Egypt, how about this week?! Anyone share in my frustrations....with a few phone calls consisting of what did you say? huh?! what?! and minimal internet connections...here's to a better week...hahhaha
take care everyone,
Melinda

Thank goodness it's Friday!! Yippee!!

Melinda: I wonder if the connection is dependent upon what city in Egypt the SO lives? I have seen many posts about the problem with getting a call through. I haven't really had much trouble at all when I call my SO. We talk about 6 or 7 times a day...He calls me and I call him....and we always get through...hmmm...I have only used two different phone cards since March...mobilecaller.com and ppdoutlet.com/prepaid....and both of them have worked great. As far as the internet connection, my SO's uncle has an internet cafe and there haven't been many problems with that either...and if there are problems with the DSL, they always fix it within a few hours (not days)...I'm glad we haven't had this problem yet (crossing fingers and knocking on wood...lol)...sorry to hear about the connection problems...I know it can be extremely frustrating especially when you have some important news to relay.

Seems to be saying something about everyone who is stuck in "name checks" will be sending flowers to the FBI on a specific date. Can you imagine how many flowers the FBI will get? lol.....I know it sounds kind of silly, but if it gets their attention then I can't see the harm in that. smile.gif

[quote name='moody' date='Sep 19 2007, 10:14 AM' post='1202553']
This is the reason why I didn't involve my children in this process (never talked to them about it) or with my husband really until I knew for sure he was coming. My sons knew about Moh, they talked to him on the phone a few times but he wasn't involved in their lives until he got here. I didn't want them to feel how I was feeling (hurt, impatient, stressed). My sons have a dad but even if they didn't I wouldn't make Moh their "replacement" dad. Especially if they never met him and didn't really know him. IMO that's just messing with kids' heads. Making a step dad a "replacement" dad takes time. The step dad has to earn the respect and love of the children. This can't be done over the phone and through chats and webcams. It can't even be done by a short term visit overseas.

Amen, moody! My girls know about my SO and they have chatted with him a few times online but I keep "our" relationship separate from my girls lives. They have been blessed with a wonderful father and I was not looking for a "replacement" in that way. The bond that my girls have with their father is something that cannot be replaced or invaded. However, their hearts are so full of love that they will have room for one more. smile.gif And you are absolutely right when you say that it is up to the stepdad to earn the respect and love of the children. I agree wholeheartedly. They call it a "step" family because there are many "steps" to be taken along the way in order to have a successful and loving blended family. smile.gif Thanks for the post.

Middle East and North AfricaThe hadith is not islam!
QUOTE (zxed @ Sep 9 2007, 04:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
so i was browsing and i came upon this, decent topic, but ofcourse the bias and personal opinions, ignorance? falls thru and adds to the heat of the topic, doesnt it always? anyway..

There are some phrases/words in the quran itself that have "unknown" meanings in arabic.
Any context can be taken to fit its purpose, the hadit is not corrupt, nor are the original books for their respective religions.
Must you know arabic to understand islam? No. the english versions suffice, if the issue or question is very important to you, and there are 15 versions/transalations, read them all and decide which is right for you, in Islam "Intent" plays a strong role, i dont know if it does the same for other religions.... for example, Muslims are not allowed to eat meat that is not slaughtered the correct way(in islam), however it also says that Muslims can eat what Christians and Jews can eat (minus pork), so which is it? you can have your way and i can have mine, and we can both be right, as long as our intentions were to follow the correct rule. Just like that, the hadith is what the prophet did in his opinion of what was right and what was wrong, and as the original poster pointed out, the correct book with the rules and stuff is the Quran, and the hadith is lessons learnt,. i bet that if you write a book on how to drive, it will be much different than the learning guide issued by the DMV....

The hadith is an important part of islam, if your intent is to make something that is wrong, right, by pointing at the hadith, then your intention was to do wrong in the first place. The quran says not to kill, if you point at the hadith and say, " but this says its okay", then you are finding ways to justify wrong....
All in all, its a simple religion, its people that make it complicated.

I have to say that I enjoyed reading your post. While I am not a "religious" person, my SO is Muslim and we talk about many things concerning Islam. I have also studied various religions in college. I can honestly say that your post was one of the most thoughtful and straightforward replies that I have seen in a long time. I appreciate your perspective and your contribution. As long as there are people, there will be many different views and interpretations of anything, not just religion. Your example about the DMV was a great analogy to use. Great post! smile.gif

You know, I know nothing about farming but my brother is selling his home and moving to North Carolina in a few months to start up a vineyard. I never knew they even had vineyards in North Carolina. I wonder if running a vineyard is easier than running a farm with the chickens the cows, the sheep, et al.

Actually, we have several vineyards here. He will love North Carolina. It's a wonderful place to live. smile.gif

I'm not sure if this link will work, but the same information is on the Cairo embassy webpage. I have been checking this page every month since last April when they decided to disallow marriages. This is the first time that I have seen this page updated to reflect this information and I had just checked the website last week.

OMG!!! It's true! What she said is true. They even updated the embassy website to reflect everything that she copied here. That is wonderful news for anyone wishing to marry in Egypt. I am so happy they changed it.

Now, I am stuck with a dilemma...Do I keep with the original plan to file the K-1 or do I marry in Egypt when I go on Feb. 20th? I really don't know what the best route to take is now that they have changed it. Can anyone help me to figure this out....and fast! lol! Thanks...
