Put the approximate date usually  landlords will put their contracts from the first of the month. But if you can't remember it just put the mm/yyyy. I had to do that as well because I couldn't remember the exact dates for the first places I lived during the last 5 years lol. I guess we will see what USCIS will tell me lol.

Thanks for responding!  I did that too.  The PDF complained it wasn't the correct format, but it still let me save and print it.  Good luck!

Another newbie question...forgive me please...

 

In part 6 of the N-400 it asks for your residence information for the last 5 years in the format of mm/dd/yyyy, yet the instructions to N-400 says the format should be mm/yyyy and the N-400 will not accept the shortened format if completing the fillable PDF.  So my question is how importat is the "dd" part?  I cannot remember the precise days, only months and years, so I'm guessing the "dd" part.  Has anyone else done this?  Did it come back and bite you in the rear?  Advice?

that is a good question, actually it could be the date they received it or the date they got to it after receiving it. Because sometimes you will see they received the file today after a couple of dates they issued the NOA.

Your priority date is the date that you see on the first letter you see after you send your application. It should be under "received date". On the NOA.

I don't see a sample cover letter for the N400 application anywhere. If someone could share theirs it would help me put mine together. Right now I am using my I-751 cover letter as my example. I am planning on sending our application on the 22nd of November.

US Citizenship General DiscussionCamera Speeding Fines

Hi,

 

I'm in line for interview scheduling and starting to panic....I've had a few traffic camera speeding fines over the years and they've all been paid.  Some were from me, some were from my husband driving my car.  I read on the USCIS website somewhere that these type of fines do not need to be declared, so I didn't declare them on my application.  Is that correct?  Will I be asked about them during my interview?  I have NO IDEA of the dates or issuing authorities (DC, Baltimore...?) for these fines...so getting proof they were paid will be a nightmare.

I had the same option?applying under either the 5 or 3 year requirements.  I chose the 5 year option because less paperwork was required.

Sooo....I had my interview yesterday in Baltimore and was approved!  My appointment was at 12:40pm, so sadly I missed the oath ceremony.  I will be taking my oath at 1pm on Friday.  The interview was an absolute breeze?they didn't even ask me for my tax transcripts or any other documents.  I cannot remember the history and civics questions, but I got the first 6 correct.  This journey is at a near end, with the stressful part over.  Friday will just be a celebration :-).

Congrats Justine+David!

 

David is now a citizen! :) Very glad to have this journey over...for my fellow Baltimore folks, it's not a hassle at all. Free parking, his interview was all of 30 minutes, mostly with the guy just going through papers; appointment was at 8am. We came back for the oath at 2pm and it was fairly crowded. Everyone got their packets, sang the national anthem, said the oath, listened to Barack talk about immigration, and basically that was it, under an hours time. 

 

The only thing that kind of bothered me was that while there were some kids that were milling around before anything started, some woman came in and basically very rudely said to get the kids in their seats. I totally understand having kids sit down, but the way she said it was like they were things, not people, and I got a taste as an American citizen how immigration officials sometimes treat foreigners like second-class people. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.

 

But, other than that one person, the rest of the officials were very welcoming and made it a great occasion. Glad to be done with USCIS!

Alright,B-more people,i passed my interview today at Koppers street,Baltimore.

was scheduled for 8.25am,but came over an hour earlier and was 17th for the fingerprints and  identification.

The building is clean and nice and the parking lot is absolutely amazing,you don't have to struggle yourself with that,it' pretty much opened with bunch of parking lots.

While i was waiting for the interview,i saw many IO officers coming out to get people and take them to the interview room,most of the IO are pretty young,friendly and positive.

However i got older lady,who was pretty serious and didn't smile at all,she took me in and asked to swear and tell only the truth,she also mentioned she is going to film whatever is going on in the room.

She asked for my passport,green card and driver's licence,everything was kept in the huge binder with paperwork i prepared,she was impressed with it.Then she checked on my travel airport stamps and if the data is consistent with one i provided in n-400 form. I had my husband with me,so i took his passport and we compared few things,everything was pretty fine.

Then she asked me few questions on n-400,asked what i'm doing and what is my profession(i'm scientist),was impressed with that and said that i will most likely have my Oath of Allegiance in few weeks because of the name change.Right there  i knew she was going to approve me.

She finished asking n-400 questions,and then got to the civics part,i answered everything correctly,spelled things correctly etc,

she asked few other questions like:

-will you bear arms for the United States if needed?

-will you be loyal to the United States and only to the United States?

-do yo swear you are going to respect the United States Constitution?

-do you like the political structure of the United States,are you willing to obey the laws?

Then she gave me the form,which says "congratulations you ave been recommended for approval",she also said-i approve your case,but you'll have to wait for the oath.

I left the room,for me it only took for about 15 minutes(if not less),she was very pleasant(didn't even need my payed off taxes receipts for the taxes we owed and that it is payed),and  i'm happy with the way it went.

BTW,before i was called in,i've seen lots of people coming with lawyers,translators etc,many of them were crying while leaving the building.i guess things didn't go that well.

But overall,the office is great and friendly,don't be afraid.Hope my experience helps someone.

I guess now,my only concern is for how long is it going to take for B-more office to schedule my oath sad.png

Baltimore is same day, same oath every day from everything that I've read.

 

Still awaiting on the letter on the official date, but I imagine it will be sometime in March. lol, I haven't tried to prep David at all (he is the UKC) because not knowing what is going on for months on end, it would have made me crazy. So I just decided to only start it when he got the letter. He probably already knows most of it though, as he's very politically inclined. He'll just need to learn stuff like the governor of Maryland and our state reps/senators.

 

Did you get your letter yet?  I got mine today.  Interview date is March 25th.  I wonder if we'll be there together?  Now that would be cool :-).

i told you it's not gonna take for so long.

As far as interview and oath i know few ppl who had the oath in the same day with interview,but one of them was scheduled the last for the current oath(same day) i think it all depends on how early ina day you have your interview.if you go in the morning-most likely you'll be scheduled for the oath right away.

i have my interview on the next week.

Just got home from Interview.  WHEW!  I passed and it is over wooohoooo!!  I was given the opportunity to participate in big parade and Naturalization Ceremony at Estrella Hall this Saturday in Avondale and I took it!   So relieved!   I will update my dates and details of interview.

Ok, BALTIMORE PEEPS!

I'm August filer,i filed n-400 in the end of August,got case status update on January 21,the case has been scheduled for the interview.

have received the letter today(week later) and it is scheduled for the end of February.

For the ones who filed in September-they are getting to you,i believe in a week or 2 your case status will be updated and most liely you all will have your interview in march(depends on when exactly you filed).

So hold on,you're about to be there!))

just called them today,it so happens that after january 23d  it's gonna be the fith month since it's sitting on the line for the interview scheduling.My husband called them today and said he would like to get straight to tier 2 officer,and (!!!)they  said:we normally forward your calls to tier 2 if you require,but not today,we had been off yesterday(MLK day),and today we have a whole bunch of ppl calling in and we got an order not to transfer O_O.

how do you like that?the office is seriously out of any possible time frames!and they are not even trying to speed it up!it's pain to see october ppl getting their citizenship in january,and i'm still sitting in line(august filer)  with no information and progress....makes it impossible for me to apply for a federal job. ARGH!!! 

 

I just called.  As of today, Baltimore office is only processing from May 24th 2014, so I could potentially wait another 4 months.  Their processing time has gone from 5.5 months when I first started this process in September 2013 to 6.3 months now (you can see that on the USCIS website).  It must be because of their move.  How annoying!

Well...I think I figure out why Baltimore is so slow...was looking at that trackkit website and read a couple of the threads and found a link someone posted:

Looks like Baltimore just moved to a brand new office (they had previously had the deported jail right in with the citizenship processing, just for a bit of juxtaposition, I suppose); last week they had totally off for the move.

 

Makes more sense in why there hasn't been any movement, so I hope we'll hear something soon now.

 

Oh dear god!  Much as the new location sounds nicer than the old, I can only imagine the choas.  Calling them now.  I've been inline for scheduling for 90 days now.  Will keep you all posted.

Hi Yes those numbers i put earlier they are not the real numbers those numbers were just examples.No body is going to put thier original numbers of their application.

 

Your NBC number on the appointment should be like this NBC*123456789

if you look on the bottom of the appointment letter theres another barcode and another number its should be like this  NBC$123456333..... So remove $ sign from the numbers and letters and put a  * , which will make it look like this  NBC*123456333...

This theory worked for me and for 

Whtevr

 dont know for how many people it will work out.

You can try it use * instead of $ sign between the numbers.

 

I tried this and with my $ number (substituting a * for the $) it says they scheduled an oath ceremony for me on Dec 30, 2014.  My * number says still inline for an interview.  Seeing as I have not yet had an interview, i'm pretty sure the $ number is not mine.  I don't think you can simply replace the $ with a * ? I think it brings up someone else's number.

 

So, since I've been in line for scheuling for a full 90 days now and received nothing, I'm going to call them today.

 

Anyone else with the Baltimore office, aside from Justine+David?

I have a question for you. I seen that your window for naturalization opened up on the 22nd and you sent your package on the 16th. That's almost a week, they didn't send your package back? I'm eligible on the 28th and I was thinking about sending it tomorrow but I was afraid they will send it back to me.

I've been eligible since 2010?just took me forever to apply for citizenship ;-).  I received my green card back in 2007.

Check cashed today!  Woohoo!  List updated.  Hope I did it ok.

 

Has anyone had any issues with USCIS and late tax returns filed?  Some of my returns were filed late, with a extensions appropriately filed.  I wondered whether USCIS just cares that they're filed and paid, not that they were late.
