Mexico, Latin & South AmericaMedical Exam - Further Testing Needed

i have a question for the person who posted this

Medical Exam - Further Testing Needed

Is the medical exam done in mexico? i thought it was done in the usa and if it is done in mexico how much did it cost

Yes, the initial medical exam is in Ciudad Juarez. There are only a couple clinics that are legitimate for the Juarez Consulate.  If you go to the website for the Juarez consulate you will find the list of clinics. The cost was roughly $211 with tax included, but the price could change so call one of the clinics before you go. I do believe that there is another medical exam in the USA when you apply for adjustment of status. Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. I am happy to help! Waiting stinks, but don't get discouraged!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaMedical Exam - Further Testing Needed

Hello,

My fiance recently attended his medical appointment in Ciudad Juarez. Unfortunately his chest x-ray contained one small spot that was questionable.  The doctors didn't think it was Tuberculosis, but they are required by law to do futher testing that will take approximately 10 weeks.  Although this delay is unfortunate we understand that learning more about patience is always a good character quality. Fortunately, the deadline to reschedule our ASC and Consulate interview had not passed when we learned of this complication. We will be able to keep rescheduling the appointment until we hear back from the clinic on the outcome of the saliva and blood tests.

I am just writing for general information regarding either outcome of the additional testing..

If all tests are negative for Tuberculosis, HIV, diabetes will things be able to procede as normal? I.e. another medical, ASC and Consulate interview

If his tests are positive for Tuberculosis, is it clear that he will need to undergo approximately 6 months of medication and medical clearance before we can attend his visa interview? Or, is active treatment means to attend a visa interview? I was having trouble finding a clear answer on this. Some pages suggested that there was a mysterious yellow slip that some people got at the point of entry if the were positive for Tuberculosis.

What will happen if he does test positive for HIV or diabetes? This is extremely unlikely, but what would be our options then. Is this reason for automatic denial of a visa?

I am just wondering if anyone has had experience with slightly abnormal chest x-rays and if they are almost always proof of Tuberculosis. Also, do you have any pointers regarding this procedure specific to Mexico?

In addition, I will be getting a TB test done myself, just to be a responsible person and take medication if needed. Neither my fiance nor I have symptoms (TB disease) but there is always a possibility of a TB infection without symptoms. We both just want to procede wisely and don't want to potentially give the illness to others.

Thanks for your comments!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLocation of Interview - Mexico

Hello,

I just recently reserved an appointment for my fiance for his K-1 visa interview. I was under the impression (until now) that this is something that he could do at the consulate in Mexico City. However, his appointments (with ASC and US Consulate) are in Ciudad Juarez in Chihuahua, MX. I called the service after confirming the interview to question if the Mexico City location was an option but I was told "no."

I just want to be sure that this is the same experience for others before we go about planning my fiance's 20 hour or so trip :o

Also, for those who have used this consulate for a K-1 visa do you have any tips to make things go more smoothly?

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of relationship was returned... general questions.

Thanks everybody for the honesty!

I won't send in anything unless they request it ... but in the event that they do, here is what I will do to be ready.  Please let me know if any of this is incorrect.

1) OK, I won't send electronic data again.  If they request additional evidence I will send back photos but I will re-label them.  The originals I sent in before were 4X6 individuals so that is why I was a little confused.  I will try relabeling.

2) As far as facebook messages go... I know one answer said to print out the messages (paper trail).  Should I print out all messages ( A TON OF THEM!) or should I only print out a few from each month?  There are literally 3,116 pages of messages to my fiance I don't think they would appreciate me doing that :0

3) I will continue to get copies of phone records.

Thanks again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of relationship was returned... general questions.

On July 1st I sent in our K-1 Visa case to the Texas lockbox for processing.  I quickly received my receipt number from the California Service Center (dated July 10th) and am able to track my case using the uscis website.  Each time I check the website I will get a status update that indicates the case is progressing without issues.  No problems there.  However, the majority of my "evidence of ongoing relationship" and my "proof of meeting over the past 2 years" was returned to me.  Here are the items I included in my "evidence packet"

1) I made photocopies of my plane ticket stubs with dates and destinations clearly visible

2) Photocopies of letter and envelope that I sent to my fiance December 2012

3) Photocopy (in spanish) of an original letter and envelope that my fiance sent to me June 2013

4) Color photocopy of a photo souvenier from my trip to visit my fiance in March 2013

5) Photocopies of my passport stamps to Mexico to see my fiance (2 trips: August 2012 and March 2013)

6) Color photocopies of movie tickets and museum tickets from my trip to visit my fiance in March 2013

7) 5 Original color photos from my first time meeting my fiance (clearly labeled with date and location and names) - RETURNED

8) 18 Original color photos from my second trip to visit my fiance and his family (also labeled clearly) - RETURNED

9) DVD documenting my second trip to visit my fiance in March 2013 - RETURNED

10) Facebook data files saved to CD (most correspondence was done via facebook chat and all messages were included on the CD) - RETURNED

11) Two color screen shots from Skype video chats - RETURNED

Items 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 were all organized and packaged in a zip-lock bag. However these same items were returned to me with a letter that stated they were not in a correct "format." I am unsure whether this means I did not label clearly of if that formats such as DVD and CD are not acceptable.  Most surprising was that my color photos were returned to me.  I followed all directions I could find regarding sending AND labeling evidence and so I was surprised to receive back the photos.  Note: they did NOT send back our passport photos... those they kept :)

Items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 were kept in my case file... but if I were an immigration officer I would want more evidence.

I have the 1800 number to call for questions but so many people complain about that being a dead end as well.  I just wanted to post on here before I stared freaking out.

I assume they will want photos at some point to prove our relationship and so I guess at this point I expect a RFE.  However, if this happens, I am hesitant to send the photos, DVD, etc because they were returned before.  I could print out all the facebook messages but I feel like that is overloading (3000 pages of messages!), isn't it better to give the a facebook data CD they can look at if they choose? Any suggestions?  My fiance and I are also working on getting our phone records printed as well... but like I said the majority of our correspondence is via Skype and facebook chat.

Any suggestions are welcomed.  Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdding Supporting Material to My K-1 Visa Application

Hello,

I have a quick question about adding supporting materials to my K-1 visa application.  I recently submitted my K-1 on July 1, 2013 and I have some updated pictures and supporting evidence that I would like to add to my file.  I have the NOA1 and can contact the California Service Center, but I was wondering how I should go about sending in these materials so that they will be placed  correctly in my file.  I would like to do this as soon as possible as my file will probably be reviewed in October (according to my "proposed" timeline).

I have also heard that if I check the status of my case that when the materials are added that it will be marked as a TOUCH.  Is this true?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
