Mexico, Latin & South AmericaCR1 Visa Vaccinations for Bogota Embassy
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I had a question that my wife and I need some help with. My wife is a 26 year woman from Colombia and we are applying for a CR1 Visa. Our NVC case was completed as of 8/16/2012 and we are awaiting an interview date with the U.S. Embassy in Bogota. We are worried about the vaccination and medical exam process. I have heard absolute horrible things about Dr. Roa and his practices and I am nervous that I will have to spend a small fortune on vaccinations. If it turns out that my wife needs most or all of the vaccinations, how much cash am I looking to spend here? I am under the impression that it will be a few hundred dollars. Any help or advice would be awesome.

Thank You and Good Luck!!!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaPressure and Guilt
Good Morning,
My wife is from Colombia and applying for a CR1 visa. She has her interview scheduled for October 17th at 8:30am. With the expected date of her arrival fast approaching I find myself ridden with guilt and pressure. I must say that my wife works, a lot, and I have not seen her since July 18th and maybe spoken to her a total of 1 hour since I last saw her. When I do speak to her she says she is sad, and who could blame her? To be pulled away from everything and everyone you know and to go to a place you have never been must be mentally and emotionally exhausting. This is where the guilt and the pressure come into play. I feel tremendous guilt for baring the responsibility of taking her from her home. I feel tremendous pressure of knowing that I need to be a good man and a good husband. I know that I must be patient and understanding and I have done, and am doing, all that I know to make myself better and make myself sure. I miss my wife. I miss her smile and I miss her laugh and yet at moments like this I feel so bad. I even feel guilty for saying that I feel bad (If that makes any sense). I do not expect anyone to respond to this or even understand it. I just needed a moment to clear my head and get this off of my chest.

Thank You
Good Day and Good Luck.

yup, it'll get collected by a government employee mail room clerk.

I called the NVC just to be sure and they said they do not pick them up or make any attempt to do so. I am hoping she was simply lazy and did not wasnt to look into it. I am going to call the post office to see if I can arrange re-delivery.

Thank You,

National Visa Center (Dept of State)PANICKED!!!!!
Good Afternoon Everybody,
I have got a real problem. I am petioning for a CR1-1 Visa for my wife. I received a checklist from the NVC regarding missing documents for my visa application packet. I sent the form yesterday through Express Mail with the US Postal Service. However, since no one was there a note was left for someone to call the post office and have it re-delivered on Monday. If no one attempts to collect the package then it will be sent back to me. Does anyone know if the NVC will actually attempt to get the package or will they ignore the notice? I am so afraid that I am going to lose more time by this. Somebody please help me.

Thank You Brothers and Sisters,

Sincerely,

JOE KWA

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion13 Days still No interview date

well.....I don't know about that

They will begin making the appointments starting 2nd week, but notifications can be around the 15th - 20th of the month.

I don't like any of this lol. I had heard that the NVC schedules appointments during the first two weeks of the month so I was expecting that. That waiting is brutal. Can I get an AMEN?!

US Citizenship General DiscussionA Bit of a Mind Twister

Thank you very much Apple.  I think if her mother sends us every bit of paperwork that she has regarding the marriage and birth and anything that has his signature on it then we have a chance.  I will run this by my wife in the morning.

US Citizenship General DiscussionA Bit of a Mind Twister

Good Morning Everyone,

I have a question and I wanted to turn to you guys to see if I can get some advice.  My wife is from Colombia who arrived on a CR-1 Visa in October of 2012.  We have been going through the motions but lately an idea has risen and I was curious if I could go anywhere with it.  My wife was born to a U.S. citizen in Colombia which, if I interpret it correctly, makes her a U.S. citizen.  Sadly though her father took off on her and her mother when my wife was very young and essentially vanished back into the U.S.   No paperwork was filed when my wife was born with the Embassy in Bogota and her father (who we recently found) has been difficult to work with and does not seem to eager to help us out.  My mother in law still has all of the original paperwork such as marriage license, marriage certificate, my wife's birth certificate all with my father in law's signature on them.  My question is can I pursue citizenship for my wife without the help of her father and how could we go about starting this?  As of this moment we are waiting to start the removal of her conditions and we were wondering if the fact that she was born abroad to a U.S. citizen in 1987 makes her a citizen.

I was curious about something. I sent my AOS packet to the NVC about 1 week ago. How long does it take to hear from the NVC after I send it? I sent it from a Post Office in the Philadelphia area.

Thank You,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuite A Few Questions
You can call the visa center to find out the specifics of your case. The number for the NVC is 1-603-334-0700. Regarding the I-864, you should check to see if the Embassy in question is enrolled in the "Electronic Processing Program". If the embassy in which your wife will have her interview is not enrolled then you will have to send the physical form to the NVC. If the embassy is enrolled then everything can be sent electronically. However, every case is different and what I had to do may not be what is required of you and your wife. The people at the NVC are very courteous and will answer your questions and ease your mind. Also, since your are employed by the U.S. Government then certain exemptions and exceptions may be available to you. I wish you best of luck and that this whole process moves quickly for you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 and CR-2 Procedure.

I have a few questions about the procedure to follow when applying for a CR-1 visa for my soon to be wife and a CR-2 for her daughter.

1. When we marry, do I apply for my wife's visa using her maiden name or her new name (my last name). The reason I ask is, all her documents will be in her maiden name.

2. I assume a separate I-130 and G325a for wife and daughter?

3. Regarding the I-864 and copy of my tax returns that I must send later, do I need to send 2 sets (one for wife and one for daughter), or will one set suffice for both.

4. Any other considerations when applying for both visas at the same time in the same package?

Thanks.

Don

Good Morning Don,
When sending in the I130, use the maiden of your wife since, as you stated, all of her records will be in her maiden name. You will need to send an I130 for your wife and your daughter. You will need to send a G-325a for your wife, daughter, and yourself. (Suggestion: Also sign up for e-mail and text alerts. This service is free and the form is very simple and straight forward.) Regarding the Affidavit of Support, if you are just using your own income then you will only need to send one set of tax returns (W2's or IRS Transcripts.) These Documents will be sent to the NVC after your case with the USCIS is complete. I think that is everything. If any one else reads this and I have missed anything, please correct. Take care Don and I wish the best of luck to you!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long between NOA1 and NOA 2?
It all depends on your case what service center you sent it to. I received my NOA2 about 3 and 1/2 months from when I filed. I sent my I130 on February 25th, my priority date is February 27th and my wife and I are in the final stages of the Visa Process. I am hoping to have her up here sometime in late September. I know it is very frustrating and the time apart is very hard, but hang in there for your success will be very sweet. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU BOTH.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChecklist (Missing Documents
Giggity, Giggity, Goo!
I am going to send them via FedEx first things tomorrow morning. I have been lucky up to this point and I hope I haven't pushed my luck. It took them 11 days to process my AOS and less than one week to send me the checklist so hopefully I can keep it rolling. Thank you all so very much for your feedback. I do know what I would do without you guys and ladies

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChecklist (Missing Documents
Good Evening Folks,
This is the weird thing. I did sent color copies of both but when I called the NVC they requested the originals. I am petitioning for a CR-1 visa for my wife. She is is the one that will be receiving the visa. Does this sound right to anybody?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChecklist (Missing Documents
Good Evening, Visa Journey Brothers and Sisters
I got a little hang up today with the Visa Center and I wanted to ask a question. Apparently I screwed up and did not send the original Marriage Certificate and Birth Certificate. I have both. I know, I was foolish for not sending in the originals the first time around. My questions is, How much will this hold up my case? They got back to me in less than one week with the checklist and I am curious how badly this will hold me up. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Joe Kwa

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresairlines and one way tickets with K-1

Hi!

my fiance is buying his plane ticket to come to the US but the travel agency is telling him he has to buy a round trip ticket. at this point round trip tickets are a lot more expensive than a one way ticket. I am assuming the airline will not know what a K-1 visa is and I am afraid they wont let him get on the plane because he does not have a round trip ticket. Has anyone had a recent experience traveling with a K1 visa and a one way ticket?

Thanks in advance for the help

If she is coming here as a resident and intends to live here then I would skip the travel agent, find another one, or buy the ticket directly from the airline. What the travel agent is suggesting is very suspicious.

Congratulations and I wish you the best.

Good Morning,
After the USCIS has completed your case it will then be sent to the National Visa Center in New Hampshire. I would read up on that process and try to get that documentation ready. Such as Tax transcripts, Photos, and original copies or certified copies of Marriage Documents and birth certificates. You can also check out some threads on here about the NVC process. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
