YAY~~~ YOU GOT IT!!!
QUOTE (yagneshrinku @ Apr 19 2009, 04:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
hi everyone
my fiancee submited my application on 22 sept 2008. after couples of month she got letter that petition is approved and send to home country of your fiance i.e India, US conulate mumbai.
i got the packet 3 from US consulate mumbai on 04 feb 2008. i fill up all details and send it back. than after i waited for one month for packet 4 but didt got any reply. when i enquire they told me that they have dispatch my appointment letter since 24 feb 09, which i never recieved.
than i went personally to US consulate mumbai, information desk and collected packet 4 and appointment letter on which my interview date was schedueled on 15 april 2009 at 7.30 am.
Interview day

i went inside US consulate mumbai and they call my name, i went to counter. submitted my affidavit of support letter, than they ask me for medical. i gave them Xray they told me dat they want small blue envelope. i told them i already submitted that to VFS 10 days back prior to interview and show them the letter which i was given from VFS. than they manage to find my medical report. than they ask me original I-129 F, i told them that was submitted by my fiancee in US, i only have a copy. he told me give that copy, than he argue why this I-129 f form is not stamped. i told him that they didt stamped on this form. my fiancee was only issued the reciept of payment of 455 $, which i showed them. than anyhow after lots of discussion he accepted the form and told me to wait for interview.
waiting for 4 hours, my name was announce at 11.15 and went to counter. Visa office was friendly and asked me the questions:-

who is applying for you?
how did u met?
when did u met?
so why you getting married so late?
how many times you guys met?
why you want to get married in US only and not in any other country?
what is your fiancee doing?
what kind of work she is doing?

than she said congratulations, you get the visa and your passport will be courier in next 2 working days.
now here the problems start. one of the indian staff came and started talking to Visa officer something related to my case. than Visa officer gave me my passport with white form and told me that we will give u a call within one week, than go to VFS to submit your passport. Visa officer told me as they have to do some Administrative Work in my case, so cant issue visa now.
i was so upset, dont know what was wrong but i realised they have misplace my original petition form I-129 which was send from USA to mumbai US consulate. i was going back to my gujarat state in evening by train. as US mumbai consulate called at my residence number in the afternoon around 4 pm and told my mother that your son has got the visa , send him again tomorrow morning at 7 am on window 8.
next day i went at 7 am on window 8 and submited my passport, the officer told me to wait outside. i waited till 10.30 but my name was not announce and than i enquire at 11, they told me to wait for few more times. than at 11.15 they announce my surname but with wrong name. after 10 minutes they announce my correct name and told me to come at window 12. when i went inside there was one gujarati staff and he apologise for announcing my wrong name.
he told me that you can go now and you will get your passport thru courier in next 2 days. i told them that i am waiting from morning 7am and now you are saying me to go home. i want my passport today only, so he told me that i can collect from VFS in the evening at 5 pm.
i went at VFS at 4pm, big que for passport collection and finally got my passport with proper name and visa at 5.30

I GOT THE VISA BUT TO BE HONEST NOT AT ALL SATISFY BY STAFF WORKING AT MUMBAI US CONSULATE. I THINK AT THE END OF DAY ITS INDIAN STAFF ONLY WORKING AT US, SO WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT. BECZ OF THEIR CARELESS, I HAD TO SUFFER A LOT.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNaturalization Certificate
We (my fiance) did. It was a black n' white copy when we submitted our pertition. Since the original is in Spanish, he asked one of his friends who is bilingual (Spanish and English) translated it and signed on the bottom to prove the acuracy of the translation.

QUOTE (eltemp @ Apr 30 2009, 09:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello if any of you has applied using the naturalization certificate....does it matter if it's a color or black and white copy..... second question is does it have to be certified copy or just a good color copy (laser) will work?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOld Passports for interview?
I was asked to bring my old passport if I have any. But they also stated that if I have lost my old pastport, a record showing my departing and entering my country is required.

QUOTE (JSVP08 @ Apr 4 2009, 03:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I came across US embassy in New Delhi, India and i read there about requirements that includes all passports (old and the current), my question is, is this only in India? coz i read in the UAE embassy doesn't specifically mention about bringing along old passports during interview.

Who else here is being required to bring his/her old passports for the interview?

Anyone from uae?

btw,i am being particular about this coz iam not in my homebase so ill know if i have to ask my old passports to be sent to me. cool.gif

thank you

You may be able to find if there is anyone in your situation also by looking up the "similar timeline" via "my asistant" if I remember it correctly.

Jenn and Nick: Congratulations! The rest of the journey is going to move like a breeze.

FYI: I arrived NYC last night and the experience with the POE is pleasent. The time it took for me to go from waiting in line to being let out from the office (I was asked to stay aside and be led to a room) was about one hour. Most of it was waiting in line with other passengers to be called. The actual time they spent on my case is like 20 minutes at most.

Mike & Miche: Great news. Congratulations.

just_friend: You're married!!! Congrats.

JeremySioto: I hope that you will get your interview date soon. Taiwan and Hong Kong are close, but it seems that the 2 systems work differently. After we got the NOA2 and a letter saying that the case had been sent to the local consulate, we no longer had to deal with the NVC. I got my packet 3 from the US consulate here in Taiwan as well as the packet 4. And there were less than 10 days apart after I mailed the packet 3 (had collected everything requested) and received packet 4. The interview happened in 2 weeks after packet 3 was sent. Anyway, good luck.

I am leaving for New York tomorrow and be re-united with my fiance. I will come back up to share my POE experience. Bye now.

just_friend, that is so wonderful!!! Looks like you are one of the pioneers to the POE for the rest of us. And Ellie, I SEE that your ring finally came through the custom good.gif . Guys, I will be reporting from New York (JFK) POE soon.

By the way, does it usually take much longer for passengers with k-1 visa to be through the POE? Should I ask my fiance to come to the airport 2 hours later after my plane arrives? Because he is bringing our 2 little naughty cats with him. I am just worried that the cats might get really excited and start moewing like crazy in the airport. Thank you for any inputs.

Hello everyone. I am now safe and sound in Atlanta with my sweetheart and everything is more than great. He took a couple of days off so we can really enjoy ourselves before we continue with the rest of the journey. He was so sweet. Met me at the airport with a huge bouquet of my favourte roses and he also had another really awesom surprise: we got me a new really cool cell phone wink.gif Am I lucky or what?  But anyway I was not impressed by Atlanta airport. I will submit a review at some point but they were so slow. I got out with my suitcases 3 hours!!!!!! after I landed. Ridiculous!!! We are applying for mariage license in a few days and probaby going to the court house next week. It is all so beautiful. I am still not sure about the driving license but we'll figure it out. Will keep in touch wink.gif

@piotrek - Congratulations on your visa. Good luck with the rest of the journey

@Kevin&Leilei - really happy for you guys for receiving packet 3. Everything will go a lot faster from now on

Kevin&Leilei whats going on with you guys? We've lost you in the last couple of weeks.

Hey guys, I just got back to China from several weeks in Phuket, Thailand, having a sort of pre-marriage honeymoon. Also a trip abroad together makes for some really good bonafide relationship evidence. We got back to her home to discover packet three had been delivered already, a good two months earlier than I was expecting it. Now I get to help her fill out the form, and collect her police certificate, single certificate, etc.

Sorry I haven't kept up to date on the race, but I've been busy. smile.gif

Ellie, I hope that you will get your interview soon after you have your medical done. It took 2 weeks (10 business days) for me to get the result back. Knowing this in advance, I sent in my check list about a week later after I mailed in the packet 3 (DS156, DS-156K, and DS-230). Yet, the consulate here in my country works fast. They mailed out the interview appointment notice before I sent them the completed check list and requested an ineterview.

just_friend, good luck with the pick-up. Have a safe ride!

For those who are still waiting for the interview or the packet 3 to arrive, I pray that everything will go smoothly and all of us can be back with our loved one soon.

One question for everyone: I got my passport back with the visa this morning. A sealed package came alone with it. I know I am not supposed to open it. But there are some other documents the consulate returned to me, including some of what we first sent to the USCIS back in November, e.g. copies of our photos, receipts, airplane tickets and so on. Do I need to bring them along with me to the States in case they want to see them at the POE.

Thank you all for the congrats!!! I agree with Ellie; I had brought with me everything, including the prove of my fiance's citizenship, i.e. copy of his pass port, naturalization certificate, birth certificate, and for the prove of on-going relationship the cards, emails and skype logs, and that of our engagement. Tons of documents I carried with my that morning, really heavy, but to my surprise, not many were asked to be handed in. The questions asked were:

1. How did you know your fiance?
2. Did you get along with his daughter?
3. What did you do before in New York? (I had studied and worked there.)

That was it, very brief.

Btw, they did not ask for the employment letter, but I gave it out together with the I-134. The interview was conducted in English after the office asked me: "In which language do you communicate with your fiance?" and I said "English."

just_friend, congrats on the visa approval. I got mine this morning too. The interview was rather short. The appointment was at 8 am. I arrived at the consulate 10 minutes earlier and by the time I left the building it was around 10. Most of the time was spent on waiting. The actual interview time with the immigration officer lasted less then 5 minutes. another 10 minutes for the document checking by another lady at the enterance.

For the I-134, they only asked me for the latest tax return-2008(my fiance had sent me that of 2006,2007 and 2008)-as a supporting document. Nothing else. What I did see there was everything we submitted back in November, the officer has them, including a 34 pages(A4-sized)printed photo album.

Same here. Because I was not able to provide my vacination record, I had to pay about $30 for the shuts, in addition to the $150 medical exam fee.
I booked my flight before my interview, because I am sure that I will get the visa, and I cannot wait to be back together with my finace. Good luck with all things, everyone!

process??
I miss my baby, my Oury!! I can't wait til we get thru all soon.

Also, what are u guys deciding on flights?? booking before getting
approval or waiting til after??

Good luck and may God Bless!!

WOW! you got your interview date so quickly!!!

As for the medical, you would be better off posting in your regional forum and gaining information from people who have experience. Every country differs but I know in London, we have to pay additional fees for any shots required. To gain my vacination record, I just went to my doctor and asked for it.

Jenn and Nick, I am sorry to hear this. Have you considered making an appointment with the local office, if there is one near where you are at? My fiance and I got so stressed out about not getting the NOA2 and not being able to check our status online at all, he decided to make a visit to the local office. There he was able to see something other than "error" from the officer's computer, which was comforting. I hope that you will be hearing the good news soon. You're going to get the approval!

FINALLY !!!!!! CRIS NOA2 EMAIL RECEIVED TODAY !!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Quick story. Last month I signed a contract for a new construction home here in Houston. So, I flew her in from Rio last Friday to sit down with our builder to make all of the exterior structural and interior selections for the home...floors, tile, appliances, fixtures, etc etc etc. Six hour process today. Guess what....as we were finishing up final selections, guess what arrived....the CRIS EMAIL !!! OMG. Couldnt have come at a more perfect moment. She cried, we hugged, kissed...and the design consultant was like, what the heck is going on. HAHA. Anyway, thought you might like the story.

With that said, I am now praying for all of those who are having to continue the wait for their approvals. This is a great site and I appreciate everyone here who contributes. Is like a big family. Thank you everyone for that.

So, onward from here to the next steps !!!!

Also, my fiance called the USCIS a few times and visited the local office twice. For some reason, the lady at the local office could see something from her computer which we could not see at the moment. Hers said "Pending" while ours said "ERRORS(case not found)."

Just to update:

On March 20, my fiance received a letter from NVC saying that our package 3 will be forwarded to the US ambassy here in Taiwan. That is a week after the NOA2. I got the actual package 3 on March 31, 18 days after the approval notice arrived. We are almost done with the required documents. I am thinking to schedule the interview in the end of this month and be reunited with my fiance in New York by the end of May. I hope that those who are still waiting stay encouraged and make the most use of the time before your NOA2 comes to gather the necessary paper for or at least get familiar with the next phase in the process. Good luck, everyone!!!

Bad news everyone. I'm out of the race. I got two emails, one this morning (last night, China time) that said my petition was transfered (to where?) and a few hours later, another that said it was approved. I was asleep, so I just got them a few minutes ago. Good luck to those of you still in the race.

Hello all November filers!!! WOOOOOWWWW!!!! So many folks getting their NOA2's!!!!

Im back from the states and had an absolute blast! Was in Hawaii with a couple of friends and had so much fun in the sun then left for the freezing cold in NY...Really had a good time...It was hard to leave, as usual but knowing that I will be moving there soon made it so much easier leaving!

Congrats to all those people who got their NOA2's and for all those that are still waiting - hope you get urs soon!!!

Ellie - Im glad to hear about ur approval and having fun there in Florida.....!!!

EnglishFam - Congrats on passing the interview...i take it ur already in the states...how are you adjusting there? Still over the moon or reality starting to kick in? lol...

Welcome back to our November family. smile.gif Glad to hear you had fun. Its getting pretty quiet here. Most of the regular posters have been approved and its just a couple of people keep the thread out of page 2. smile.gif)

quiet... whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif I think so too. I was wondering where are all the gangs?! We are still waiting for the hard copy of our NOA2 so that we can call NVC to see if they have already mailed the package. Rught now, my fiance is getting together stuff for the interview. I got my background check back from the FBI. Yes, the FBI. Not that you guys will need it, but I'd rather have it than without it when being asked at the consulate. Anybody would like to share experience on the package 3 and 4? Or just the interview?

Thank you so much for the nice words. We are being very impatient now. I think i am checking USCIS web site every half an hour smile.gif I am able to check my on-line status. never had problems with that. You know i noticed that pretty much all of the approvals had the error message. Don't know what that means but its curious. In all honesty i am hoping we were approved and that we'll see NOA2 in the mail any time now. I have birthday today and all i wished for was my NOA2. oh well good things never come easy.
Enjoy yourselves and good luck to everyone still waiting

Kevin don't worry about winning. You have a competition here smile.gif

Just_friend-
Thanks for your congrats. Keep your eyes on the updates. Mine still showed ERROR(s) the night before, but I had this belief that everyday is a brand new day and can be the day that the approval comes. And it did. The next day morning, I woke up thinking: "here we come (error message) again..." and it appeared that it was APPROVED!!! No touches, nothing at all prior to the notice. Be encouraged!!!
