Please add my details. I filed at Nebraska Service Center on 31 October, cheque was cashed 16 November in LA, received NOA1 on 19 November, from California Service Center.

For some reason, checking my receipt number at USCIS shows up as "Case Status Retrieval Failed". ??

Feeling optimistic at this point, as from what I can see, everyone who has been referred from NSC to CSC appears to have received their green card in 3 1/2 months or so without having to have an interview!

My fiancee had her interview January 13th. She was asked for me to provide additional documents that she submitted the next day. It took about 3 1/2 weeks when she received a letter from the Manila embassy that they needed more documents from me. She submitted the required documents February 12th. I had to purchase a pin number again (which by the way works for 3 calls) and I asked for the K-1 status of my petition. I have called twice in the past two weeks and both times I was told that it is "under review". We are now going into our 7th week of waiting and it's really beginning to suck eggs, ehehehe. Yeah, they may be busy there, but I'm just as busy too. I've accomplished quite a bit in the past 6 weeks working in a service oriented trade. I find it hard to believe it could take more than 6 weeks to look at a couple of documents, but to be sitting on a person's desk for two weeks just blows me away. There are people who are waiting for one person's decision, as plane fares are rising and are anxious to move forward in life.
But then again, for the peepz working in the embassy, to them it's another day in an office space. SMILE. Be patient. That's our tax money at work wink.gif

The phone records and western union receipts are a big help wink.gif U won't need hundreds of photos, being that the screener will only pick out a handful. That's what they did at my fiancee Sarah's interview. They don't have the time to look at a hundred pics. U may want to bring pics that are relevant to a bonifide relationship. I've read on some posts that having met thru family raises the CO's attention. Ur fiancee's income may be low but his bank acct and ur graduate skills may offset any doubts the CO may feel or think. Good luck at the interview. Just be honest and confident about ur relationship and all will be well innocent.gif
Ur answers should always have reference to the LOVE between U and ur fiancee =)

Why does not the process require the American fiance of the filipino girl go to a seminar to be aware of all the Philippine women scammers....some marrying and just using the man to get her permanent green card and then leaving him and then petitioning her Filipino Bf to come to the USA... or running off to a different American BF that she has had before she started scamming the current petitioner ???? or running off with a different American BF that was awaiting her until she got permanent status??? I personally can not think of a reason a man would go through the long costly stressful petition , medical, embassy interview, cost to fly her here, AOS fees...just to not love her and plan on abusing her??? Maybe there are some mental men that do that but I think that is a very small fraction of men. But I believe the percentage of scamming Philippione women is a much larger percentage than foreigner abusing men.

I agree the seminar is appropriate to a point but they go too far... like wanting copies of the USA fiance's divorce decree.. That has already been given at the I-129 Petition and interview at the Embassy. CFO has no right demanding these things and denying the CFO stamp if you do not provide. In some cases the CFO seminar is like another embassy interview. Especially of you go to Taft Avenue PRISM. It is an all day very frustrating experience and the USA Fiance is not allowed in because they do not want him to hear then telling the women how the fiancee will beat them and turn them into prostitutes! It scares a lot of women. But we have to go through it or your fiancee can not board the plane to depart the Philippines.


Yea, may fiancee had to bring my divorce decree with her to the CFO too. Then she had to fill out a form where she didn't put my home number in one of the lines. I flew to the Phils in early February to accompany my fiancee back to the states and we flew NorthWest. Our POE was Detroit and they did not ask for any xrays. They were on a CD inside the brown envelope. The immigration officer that opened the brown envelope handed my fiancee the CD and said they did not need it. Make sure before your fiancee walks away from the immigration officer that she checks that on the I-94 form they put in her passport has her name spelled correct. Good luck

Apparently when the letter was sent to her, it wasn't delivered, so was returned to USCIS, who then called them. There was no explanation of why the letter couldn't be delivered, so the USCIS sent it again and it was received ok this time.

I've told her that she won't have the oath ceremony that day, as her interview is too late in the day. I'll keep you posted on her interview. Meanwhile all the best to all of you who have their interviews coming up.

MGM, I'd say go to My Controls (just below Immigration Timelines) and add a sig. It looks easy enough to copy and paste someone elses timeline, then change it to reflect your info.

I used the Document Checklist in the M-476 Guide to Naturalization (see the 2 pages after p47, called M-477).
As I'm using the marriage requirement, I just sent in:
  • Two passport-size photos
  • Copy of front and back of Permanent Resident card
  • Copy of inside front cover and signature page of US passport of my US citizen spouse
  • Copy of current marriage certificate
  • Copy of 2005, 2006 and 2007 joint federal US tax return records
  • Copy of divorce decree from previous spouse

For my interview, my IO checked the details of my Drivers License for my current address. I expect you would have to tell him/her that you have moved.

I'm not sure of exactly how everything will affect you, but I see quite a few areas of concern:
  • all the thoughts mentioned above re change of address options and how it will affect your interview
  • you are planning to be out of the country for 6 months a week after the interview. This gives little time to get a US passport, should oath ceremony be the same day, and would be an awfully long time to delay the oath ceremony should you be approved, but cannot (or decide not to) take oath the same day,
  • Your daughters may also become citizens when you do, and so may need US passports so that they can re-enter the US

I had that exact question, and I answered "the Constitution". All the IO did was write my exact answer down on her sheet, and proceeded to the next question (which I could see on her sheet).

My IO remarked on one of my trips, then after the test, yes/no questions, etc she went though all of them on her computer, and corrected dates on at least one of them (think it was the Puerto Rico/Caribbean cruise).

Take your naturalization certificate along to Social Security, as they make a copy. They sent me a new card.
I visited Social Security first, then applied for the passport (as the certificate has to be sent with the passport application).

You might also want to send in your voter registration form.

Si, as the others have kindly explained for me, I presented the PO with my naturalization certificate for my passport application, and received them back 4 weeks later, but mailed separately.

For my oath ceremony we had 2 videos, one of immigrants and various scenes of the country, and one with a message from Obama.

My passport took 4 weeks to arrive, and my naturalization certificate came 2 days after that. It won't be long now for you to finally have everything over with!

Hi there,

I was told by a friend who had her interview at 11:30am at Portland, that she was too late for that afternoon's ceremony, and so she came in the following day for her oath.

My interview was at 8:30am, so they had plenty of time to schedule my oath ceremony for the same day. You have to be there by 1:50pm at the very latest, or you will miss out on the ceremony! That is explicit in the oath letter.
