I would suggest you do a chronology of events...like your story..how you met, then when you got married. Then specify the start of abuse and any detail you can remember from the abuse and other abuse that followed, be it emotional, physical, financial. If you have filed a report on such DV case, attached it with your statement. If you know any center for domestic violence near you, I suggest that you can consult them too.

Dennis and Yani

PS Want to do it right and have room ready, her mom is comeing with her.. so LOL no hanky panky...

have your fiancee arranged the hotel booking in the list provided by other Vjers.. If she already booked the hotel, tell her to make arrangement with the hotel for airport pick-up. Bayview is ok, it is just across the Us Embassy

Good luck

I'm hoping to get a group together for end of September. I'm finding some great condos for rent, not too much money. I found one for $19 a day. Small but looks great. For multi-bedroom ones, the price per person is no more than a separate hotel room and can even be less.

I would like to suggest Malate Pension House. Very accomodating and honest staff, Very courteous too

Asia: East and PacificIf Delbros cannot contact my fiance via text or phone call, will they still deliver?
Jim & Gem ,sixstringjunkie et al,

what JO & John are very informative, as that is how the process works. Just tell your fiancee to trust herself, be confident and she can do this. She can ask information when she is in the embassy, especially finding where the cashier for Delbros is. Tell her to read instructions carefully while waiting for her number to be called. She should carefully read what the papers she is signing and write updated information as to where she can be contacted and if she is not available at the time of the delivery, she can put the name, address, phone of authorized representative on the paper. And VERY IMPORTANT to keep the receipt, as that would have her tracking number. All one has to do is to ask when at a lost , there are Filipino staff she can go to ask queries in the vernacular n case she is not articulate in English. Even during the interview, she can request for an interpreter. And yes as what Jo and John said, prayers for Divine intervention and spiritual guidance for her, the consul, Delbros and other US Embassy people.

Have a nice day!

Jan

Just make sure that your fiancee is around when Delbros delivers but in the event she is not, she should have an authorized representative to receive her visa. Delbros will not give the VISA to an unauthorized representative. If there is delivery failure/receipt of the VISA twice, Delbros will return the VISA to the Embassy. I suggest you call/contact Delbros. You can even email them at: busdev@delbros.com

Delbros Text Hotline is 0917-6221949

To inquire from the text hotline: Type (NAME), then space, then type the tracking case number, then space, then ask your query...example: LastName, FirstName MIddleName MNL2006764XXX has my passport and visa been released from the U.S. Embassy?

Example Text from Delbros: MNL2006764XXX is not yet released to DELBROS. It is still processed at the Embassy.

We received this text message from Delbros Today at 9AM(I requested it to be delivered in Manila, not in my provincial address since I have learned that it will take only a day after release from the Embassy for the VISA to be delivered in Metro Manila):

"Delbros Delivers! Delivery for MNL2006764XXX01 starts today! You MUST leave a VALID ID & a signed Authorization letter or a delay of one week will ensue."

Delbros also texted me of my 2 daughters' (MNL2006764XXX02 and 03) visas to be delivered.

I then called their direct line 02-3392761 to verify. The lady asked me what was the text message about. I told her that the text message states that the delivery starts today. She told me to wait for the visa and don't go anywhere because it is the commitment of Delbros to deliver it within the day if it sends a text message that the delivery starts today. She said it can be in the afternoon but definitely it will be delivered within the day.

We received our VISAS at 10:15AM! (Delbros delivery man in motorbike).

FAX No. is 02-3392756

God bless,
(F)

Do you know .... who do we notify of the authorized representative.. the embassy or delbros?

my fiance is planning to stay with friends in metro manila after her interview...rather than go to Cavite. Again, should we now notify the embassy of her 'temporary' address to have the visa delivered? .. Or can she notify them at the interview? Or just let Delbros know?

I appreciate all your input and insight!

Thanx!,
Jim & Gem

Asia: East and PacificIf Delbros cannot contact my fiance via text or phone call, will they still deliver?
she should have callled DELBROS for change of number and if she kept her reciept she can make a follow up.. when Delbros texted me : Good news! We have your visa! Please wait for 5 working days to be delivered!... What i did I called the local DELBROS in my city so I can make a follow-up. and when the mailman from Delbros came to the office, I didn't let him go until I see the visa: to justify the text. Good News!

as long as she didn't change her mailing address, that wouldn't be a problem. Did she inform also the US Embassy when she change her phone number. we should always update on all the changes, number, address etc, as this might be helpful.

good luck

Hello, my girl finished her interview over two weeks ago.
Now she still doesn't have her visa.
One reason might be because she had changed her phone number right after she arrived back home so delbros currently has her old number.

My question is.. will they still attempt to make the delivery to her even if she doesn't respond to the call or text or will they wait until she responds?

And also.. she lives in the province.. is it normal for it to take this long? Thank you.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHealth exam Manila
When you recieved your packet from the US Embassy, it will state the schedule for your medical appointment in St. Luke's Clinic in Bacobo, Ermita, Manila and the schedule of interview at the US Embassy.

St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic is the only accredited clinic by the following embassy: American Embassy, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand. All those who have immigrant visa petitions go thru a thorough medical checkup. Usually last a day. I advice that you go early as people lined up here as early as 4 a.m. Even the sea farers have their medical checkup in this clinic.

Bring all necessary documents pertaining to the petition. there will always be lots of forms to fill up. Every check-up another form. Be assertive, ask questions and have a lot of patience.

Good luck!

jan

I have downloaded a map that shows an annex of St. Lukes Hospital and it is only about 4-5 blocks from the American Embassy. Is this an option that anyone can use or do you have to request to go to this place.
It is much more convenient than going to the big hospital.

The address is St. Lukes Center Extension Clinic

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion10 weeks after interview, still waiting for approval
yes, we also went through those things to speed up my case at the US Embassy before. My parents-in-law called up their State Senator and Congress Representative and it was through their office the US Embassy was reached directly as they have a direct line and the staff of the Congress Representative always call my husband for updates.

Good luck ! and brace yourself up for more petition and documents that is for the adjustment of status once you get married.

I called for an INFOPASS to follow up my AOS. Thank you for the suggestion too.

Jan

That's a good idea. I'll try writing my congressman too. Thanks,

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion10 weeks after interview, still waiting for approval
Hello Bogart,

I like to share with you my experience. I had my interview at the US Embassy Manila, last September 23, 2005. After the interview I was asked to submit additional documents, which I submitted October 27 back at the US Embassy. I submitted after I got the additional request from my husband. I got my visa November 19, 2005 on my hand. Prior to that I got a text message from DELBROS, November 17 informing me that my visa is going to be sent to me in 5 working days. Then after that,, more procedures I have to go through..counselling requirements by the Comission for Overseas Filipinos.
I am now in the USA and yes with another process..waiting for the approval of my application for Adjustment of Status.
I hope somehow, my letter would be sort of help, as for the timeline..

Good luck!

Jan

Is anyone else waiting this long for their visas to get approved after the interview date? Looks like most people get theirs in about 2-4 weeks. I don't understand why it's taking so long and it's making us miserable. When I call the USE they just tell me over and over again that the status is: it's been submitted to the consular officer for review. They are not requesting add'l docs or a 2nd interview. I talked to them for 40 minutes last week and they literally just repeated themselves the whole time from the manual of answers they are given.

Finally after 40 minutes they told me I could send a fax asking for a status inquiry and it would be given to the consulate officer so I took down the info and sent the fax last Thursday. No reply yet, but I'll wait a couple more days before I decide what to do next.

Anyone else in this situation? If so, what are you doing about it?
Thanks.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTraveling back together from Manila

So now we have heard it both ways - that you CAN pick up the VISA and you CANNOT, so which is it? Picking up the VISA isn't the same has having it delivered to your hotel.

you just have to update the consulate on how you want to recieve your visa, normally they deliver it to the address you filled in the forms.. but if you inform the consulate after your interview where you want it delivered or if you will pick it up , i guess they would consider that

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTraveling back together from Manila

Hmmm, it could be better to do the CFO after receiving the VISA, that way no return visit to the CFO is needed?

the right way is visa first before CFO. The CFO requires a visa.. I hope they stick to this policy..The CFO and The Mary Euphrasia Center, should follow strict regulations they made. When I had my orientation, a lot of hapless fiancee there at a lost.. like their flight was that night and yet they don't have yet the CFO certificate.. there are cases too in bringing a minor child or like child travelling alone..this time it is DSWD you deal with..

At least after doing the CFO, that is the time one can relax.. just make sure you follow the travel restrictions..No Pirated Materials please.. then just have enough patience..

Basically the orientation at the CFO for spouses will brief them on what to do after arrival: file for report of marriiage, file for AOS.. in case fiance drops the fiancee, she can do a self-petition and CFO will give a list on where to contact in case of domestic violence, which is very important. have a list too of filipino communities or communities from countries you came from.. be assertive and be vigilant, be resourceful

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTraveling back together from Manila

Hi guys,

Mari and I have come up with a plan for handling the interview and travel back from Manila to the USA and I would appreciate any information on whether it is a reasonable one.

We are quite confident that we will be approved at the interview. I know nothing is 100% certain but we have a very simple case and Mari and I are very careful and thorough in preparing the required information.

Our plan is that I will meet her in Davao a few dasy before the interview, help her finish packing for the big move, fly to Manila together with all her stuff and check in at a hotel, go to the interview together, remain in Manila, a few days later go to the embassy to pick up the Visa, and then fly to the USA together. So we would book our flight to the USA for five to seven days after the interview date.

Are you aware of anyone who has done this or planning to do this? Is this plan just too risky?

Thanks!!!! :star: :help: :star:

hello!

getting the visa is not the end point yet for your fiancee. upon approval of her visa she has to undergo the counseling requirement for spouses/ fiancee of foriegn partners under the Commision for Overseas Filipinos. This is a one day orientation for fiancee/fiance/spouses. It is a requirement that one should undergo and have the certificate attached to the passport.

you are 100% sure if you all submitted the required documents and as long as the consulate don't ask for additional evidence. Then you can fly back together here and get ready for the following. upon marriage, report marriage to the Philippine Consulate in the U.S.A so that they will make an ammendment to her passport : her married name, then file for Adjustment of Status for 2 year conditional permanent resident..and yes have a lot of patience.

Good luck and Maayong Pag abot!

Sorry, I meant to say that the child still needs to petition on their own, but the reason (i.e. who made this possible) is still the parent with their K-1 application. The child did not come on their own, but rather as a K-2 visa recipient. The K-2 is issued only as a result of a K-1 visa.

Hi Janice,

I'm sorry to hear that you've both had a very challenging year. Hopefully it has brought you both even closer together.

As to your evidence for the I-751, I suggest that you request 2 years tax transcript (2006 and 2007) from IRS. It's free and you usually get them in 2 weeks (or less). Check here on how to make the request.

hello there,
WE just filed our tax for the year 2007. 2006 was the year we both were working.
I haven't mailed the documents yet, we are still getting the fee all together.. have used my savings since his injury.

yes, indeed lots of struggles since I migrated here. It has been a lot of learning and adjustment.

Dear Mary Lou and Yuanddan,

Thank you for the quick reply. I am copying the list and printing it out for my husband for his reference ( and mine ) . Hope he will read it this time. I printed him all about I-175 before the 90 day started. I am doing this to stimulate his mental health. he is not proactive.

yes, it has been a very struggling year for us since his spinal cord injury. we have lots of learnings and made a lot of adaptations. With the bad weather we had this week, I am glad that we are now in the city, as we lived in the countryside before.

I feel blessed with all the concerns and support from our families and friends.
And since his injury, time is so precious for us now.

Thank you again.

Merry Christmas . Love and peace be with you.

Blessings,

A Blessed Holidays to all!

My 2 year Green Card will expire on January 30, 2009 and until now we are not filing yet. It seemed that my husband always wait for me to do it , since he says that I am the planner and organizer ( I don't take that as a compliment anymore) .

We moved in to a new city where it will be more accessible to his healthcare provider, as he now paraplegic ( spinal cord injury), as a result of his accident December last year.

With all the responsibilities and tasks load on me, it seems my grey matter isn't working well.

Please help me by providing me a checklist for the requirements/documents needed for submission for I-175.

Thank you and I appreciate all responses and comments.

Thank you again.

one year of tax returns
joint car loan
joint car insurance
lease on our old apartment with both names on it
rental agreement between my parents/my husband & I (we live with them after doing a cross-country move)
the affidavits (duh, of course)

I may have proof from my prior job that he was my life insurance beneficiary, as well as joint dental insurance, but that's not at my current job.

We probably can also dig up mail delivered in both names or in our individual names at the same address, photos of our vacation to Peru (I don't know if they want/need photos, the instructions are so general).

We don't have joint bank accounts or credit cards because we like it that way better.

Hmm...anything else I need, or should this be enough?

My wife received her biometrics appointment for Friday, 2/20 at 3:00pm. We're unable to make it in the afternoon, but a morning appointment on the same day would work just fine.

Should I schedule an Infopass appointment for 2/20 in the morning and attempt to have her biometrics done at the Infopass appointment?

The biometrics and Infopass appointments are at the same local Ft. Smith, AR office.

If not, is there a way to call and reschedule? Appointment notice said to mail in for reschedule, but I think we're too close to 2/20 to be mailing anything.

Any suggestions?

STL_HCMC

I had my biometrics re-scheduled as they scheduled originally a separate date for my son and me.
I wrote the service center that I want to be re-scheduled and I set a time that would be possible for me. I mailed it to the service center where I will have biometrics done , submitted original Notice letter and made a copy to where I filed my I-175.
The following day after I mailed my letter, I got a call from USCIS telling me of my new schedule.
That is awesome. They replied immediately through phone and mailed also my new notice.

Good luck!

As the topic states, I have some more questions regarding affidavits... are relatives allowed to do affidavits? and also, do the people providing the affidavits have to be U.S citizens or are legal permanent residents ok too ?

Hello. I filed fro my I-751 last January.
I submitted affidavits/notarized from my friends.
Whoever will submit that affidavit , let them state what is their relationship to you or how they know you.

They have to be U.S. Citizens.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIn Philippines now and want to file
Hello,

Your fiance can get a certified copy of her birth certificate in the National Statistic Office. She doesn't have to go back to her province to get one. She should also get a copy of her son's birth certificate. And she can just wait for the issuance if there are no problems. Now if she doesn't have a BC, she can file for late registration.
I don't know if she has already a passport or her son. But I believe that this is the first document she would be getting for herself and her son. And the birth certificate is just one of the requirements for applying ofr a passport.
I advice you to visit the US Embassy site in Manila. It has all the requirements needed to file for a petiion for a fiance or K1 and K2. Both you and your fiance should thoroughly read and understand it.

Good luck!

IMBRA Special TopicsChecking Yes on Question 19 I-129F
Ok, just wondering if anyone has checked yes recently for using a IMB on question 19 of I-129F? And did they use a site like Blossoms? Has this caused a delay? What if the site is noncompliant? Thanks wacko.gif

PhilippinesChanging to married name on philippine passport

1. If your wife's passport is valid for more than 6 months, she can still travel using her maiden name. For less hassle, her name in the reservation should match passport. She also must bring a copy of the marriage contract so that when she comes back, she can match it back to her green card.

2. For passport renewal, the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles has jurisdiction over Texas residents but you need to report the marriage to the San Francisco Consulate as it has jurisdiction over Oregon where your marriage was solemnized. To check jurisdiction click here http://www.chicagopc...rpmissions.html

3. It takes 6 weeks for our consulate to renew a passport but someone here on VJ reported receiving hers in 4 weeks. Mine took exactly 6 weeks.

Thanks for the info. Her passport with maiden name is good until 2012. Will an amendment take as long as a renewal (6 weeks)? If we amend her passport to her married name will she need to get the new epassport that they started issuing in May?
Thanks!

PhilippinesChanging to married name on philippine passport
Hi all, wow, its been a long time since I logged onto Visa Journey. Well my wife has been in country for almost two years now and we're planning a trip back to Cebu this summer. I'm sure this has been covered before, but I'm still confused.

1. Is it a major pain for my wife to travel back to the phils with her passport that still has her maiden name on it? She has her green card with her married name now.

2. We're in Texas now, but we were married in Oregon. Does that mean we need to go to the Consulate in San Fransico California to get her passport changed?

3. If we go to San Francisco can we get it done same day?

Thanks,
Jamey

Philippinesamend passport

Once you are married and go to change to your married name you will be issued a new passport. There is no stamp or attachment, it is a different passport.

Hmmmm....I don't know about that. My wife is here in the USA and wants to just amend her passport to her married name. I thought they will just give her back her original passport with an amendment. Thats what I've heard they do anyways.
Then when her passport expires in 2012 she will apply for a renewal.

Philippinesamend passport
 Is the amendment to married name on the filipino passport just a stamp or do they attach something?
