So, our oath ceremony date is this coming Friday - we are so excited. They sent us the form N-445 Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony in the mail. Yippee! I just have a few questions. The form states You must bring the following with you: (and these boxes are checked) This letter Reentry Permit or Refugee Travel Document Any Immigration Documents you may have Bring your child if applicable Other The only box that isn't checked is the Permanent Resident Card box - that's weird! If anyone can please respond to the two items I have bolded above and what you think those may entail or if you've gotten the same letter, that would be awesome! One last hurdle!!! Thanks in advance Hi Doodle Congrats.. Will you be taking Oath in the Durham office? Looking at few other posts, I was under the impression that the oath letter in Durham was normally handed out on the day of interview itself.. Is this not the case? Was your case any different? US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 - March 2009 Applicants	Congrats.. Couple of my friends passed their interview yesterday in Raleigh/Durham and have Oath coming on this Friday. I have mine coming up in Durham later this month. Glad to know that we can take phones into the building.. This was a long day! So I had my interview today. I arrived at the center 29 minutes early (10:31am). I went through security however they had some issues with a pen I had in my purse. I asked them to let me just throw it away, but they just had me pull it apart and scanned it several times. lol Then since we were early they had my husband and I sit in a room, which i assumed is the oath room for ~15 minutes. At 10:46am, they sent me to a desk which i have them my letter and they gave me a number and sent us upstairs. I went upstairs to a packed interview room. and it seemed most people were there for n-400's. We waited and waited and at about 12:30pm, I was called. The interview/exam was quick. She was very very nice, going over a couple things with me then went into the exam. Firstly there was a discrepency on their part in regards to my green card date. In the system it shows i have been a resident for 4 years not 3, and my AOS paperwork was approved but the IO did not sign the paperwork. Anyhow this required her to do some digging and checking, but in the end it was their problem so she would sort it out. I answered 6 questions right, answered and read the english part. Then we went over the entire application. That was the longest part. Then about 12:45pm she said she was not sure if the person for final approval was still around and if not i would need to go and come back. She said i was waiting so long i probably needed lunch. She found out who was handling cases and he told her i needed to wait. At about 2pm, he finally got through my case and told me in a few weeks I will let a letter w/ my oath date. Even though this whole thing took forever, everyone was soooo nice there unlike when I went to my AOS in miami. Also, they now allow phone use in the building, which I wish i knew so i could let my husband go and come back when i call him back. It was a tiring wait! also, a few things, they told me traffic violations are not considered citations and you don't need to answer the question inverbatum. Glad to hear everything went fine QUOTE (jeangab75 @ Aug 14 2009, 05:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am an American now. I had my ceremony thi s morning and all went well. It was a wonderful moment. We were about 120 people attending from all over the world, some very old and others not so old. While we were waiting, they played some songs from the Eagles, Bruce Springsteen etc...Everybody was relaxed and in a good mood. They opened the ceremony with a video, Faces of America, representing the diversity of the US population. Later, the director of the US immigration office came and gave a speech explaining the responsibilities coming with the citizenship and finally administered the Oath. Now that we were all citizens, they showed a video of Pres. Obama welcoming us as "fellow Americans" which I found to be pretty emotional and yes Tom you are right concluded with video of US sights and sounds over "I am a proud American" from Lee Greenwood. (That last part was really cheesy) Anyhow overall the USCIS did a great job with this ceremony. Thank you again for the support, my immigration journey is over. So unless you have sent it by trackable delivery method, I would consider your application was lost someplace. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 ... April 2009 Applicants, Post your dates here!	I was done with my oath ceremony at Durham DO this afternoon. Process took only about 25 mins. I got the naturalization certificate and signed it with my full name(first and last). I then noticed that the photo on the certificate has my usual signature which does not have my last name. I had signed this photo during the interview yesterday and the officer had not asked me to sign full name on it(he did in couple other places) I now read some posts on other forums saying the signature on the photo and naturalization certificate match. Then I was asked to read "who was the first president" and then I had to write "Washington was the first president" Questions asked for civics test 1)Name one war fought by the United States in the 1900s 2) In what month do we vote for President 3)Who is the Chief Justice of the United States now 4)The House of Representatives has how many voting members? 5)We elect a U.S. Representative for how many years? 6)Cannot remember the last one but I got all of them correct Then the officer went through the application. He had a thick folder which I think had pretty much everything right from my green card application stuff. Officer was very cordial and nice. I am glad the my journey is almost over.. But then there is not much logic in the way they do things. Also, I noticed that they now have added Raleigh as one of the DO in the Processing times section of their website and it says they are processing N-400 applications received as of Oct 24, 2008(as of March 31, 2009). Showed up at 1300 and was out of there by 1330. I sent in my N-400 90 days before the 5 year requirement(My GC says I am LPR since 6/28/2004) but I sent in my application on April 2. Does anybody know how USCIS works on applications sent 90 days before the official 5 year anniversary.
