Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionextension letter ?

Yes it is. Then you'll receive the Biometrics letter a few weeks later to go to your local ASC to have your fingerprints and photo taken. Once that step is done you will have to wait again either for your approval without an interview or a letter asking you to attend an interview.

Thank you so much!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionextension letter ?

An extension letter is NOT an approval.

All it does is extend your card by 1 year. The extension letter is your NOA1, the notice your petition is there and going to be worked on so your status is extended. You need the approval letter the NOA2, to be approved and your 10yr card comes after.

There are people at VSC that have been waiting longer than 5 months for ROC approvals.

Thank you for your reply.
is the 1st letter (NOA which usually takes around a week after submission of the papers) the extension letter?
Thanks again

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionextension letter ?
Hi
I have a question about the extension letter, I was looking at the time line for approval of liftting condition ...is the approval date the date when you receive the extension letter (1 year extension?) I am concerned because im planning to travel after submission and bio, but when I looked at the time line at vermont, it takes between 3-5 months to get it approved.
Thank you

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionQuick Question
Hi
According to what we did, its a YES for 3 questions...thats what we did..however we did not highlight all of the names...we highlighted the first page then attached the rest in one file. We added a cover letter, we numbered all the attachments in the cover letter then kept them on groups (with the number) for easy access and to be more organized..
We haven't been approved yet, a May filer though :)
good luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionsign all but send it 2 weeks after?
I don't think this will be a problem. How long will your husband be away for? even if you get the bio letter and he's not home, you can reschedule. You can send it now, usually the bio letter comes within 2-4 weeks from your NOA (letter of 1 year extension). You will get your NOA within a week after sending it (usually). so if you send it now you might get your bio appt might be sometimes in July? take a look at the other filers to get a better estimate.
Good luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussiondoes it make any difference if you file early?

Agree. we are going to visit my husband's family in FL. We'll fly this friday, but i am not sure if i can prepare all the paperwork by friday. my GC expires on Aug 8th. but if i send my package in the first week of the July I'll be still fine. Right? In that case i can also attach pictures from FL vacation..pix with my husband's family..

Of course you'll be fine if you file in July, as long as its before the day your GC expires. Attaching pictures is a good idea :)
Have fun in FL, its hot though

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussiondoes it make any difference if you file early?
if you file within the time, you'll be fine. now why some people file earlier? I personally prefer to get things done and not leave anything hanging, if I have to do it let me do it now to get done with it! if you have the time, gathered documents and money why not?
Good luck :)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRe: I 751 in April

My question is why haven't i received my NOA? i just received that my gc was extended for one more year. LOoking at the post others have received their NOA's within weeks. Mine is over a month now.

Hi
the NOA is the extension letter that you got. what are you waiting for is the biometrics. I would contact them and ask them about that, usually after 30 days (from your NOA date)you can contact the USCIS.
Good luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDoes USCIS send officers to homes?
around the time of submitting our package, we were in the process of moving to another state. My husband wrote a letter explaining to them that we don't have a place yet and provided them with a temporary address (a friend of ours). Our friend received my NOA letter, which means they were ok with it. Once we found a place we sent another change of address to the USCIS (around 20-30 days after the first change of address), and I got my Bio appt to our new address. I would send them change of address to where you live now, and when you find a place send them another one.
Good luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhen did you get bio date letter?
I received the letter 3 weeks after the NOA, the appointment date was 5 weeks after NOA letter.
as mentioned earlier, I think it depends on your local office? no definite answer but an estimate.
Good luck

Did you receive the NOA letter? it should state that your residency has been extended for 1 year and you can travel and work as long as you have this letter. Make sure to take the expired GC with you along with the NOA letter. Did you receive the Bio letter?

whats the date on your NOA? you should join either May or June filers thread and you can check the progress of other VSC filers...I filed in May (VSC) haven't heard anything yet...they are still approving some of Feb filers. So don't worry ..its not just you..good luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow are YOU doing? A poll!

I always considered ROC as a step towards my citizenship. Since I don't need a 10 years GC to apply for Naturalization, I don't really care about the time it will take to get it. (The only thing I do care is that it took $600 out of my budget and next year I have to do it again. Arrr! What a useless spent of money :D )

PattyS_Husband, I would recommend you to check the other threads and see where other filers are too...it will make you feel better and that you're not alone, you'll notice that you're worrying over nothing! I think that USCIS took a long vacation and this is the reason why this cases are taking soooo loooooooooong!

you're still within normal wait time compared to CSC who filed in august! I am a May filer (VSC), haven't received anything yet after my BIO. hang in there, you're not alone.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravel Overseas

Thanks so much for the reply. Did you actually travel to Asia as well? Yes..was thinking have to get there earlier in case they question about the expired GC etc. I hope everything goes smoothly. It will be a very long flight so I just wanted to make sure that there will be no more other stuff to deal with.

No problem, no it wasn't Asia..however I would still go early, I am sure you are not the first one who traveled with an expired GC.
Have a safe trip

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravel Overseas

Hi everyone!

1.We are going to fly to Asia this coming March. I heard the NOA letter will be suffice as substitute of GC which in process.
Is there anyone experience travel to Asia with the expired GC and NOA letter without any hassle?
Would the airline staff in Asia aware of this NOA? Or will it be any problem-if so then what should we do to avoid the hassle or delay at check-in point?
2.We heard nothing since last update that USCIS recieve our application and done BIO in Nov 2011- is it safe to fly in March considering RFE or Interview possibility. We filed at VSC in October.

Any input is much appreciated! Have a good Monday everyone!

Hi
I travelled twice with my expired GC and NOA letter, no problem. Make sure to take your expired GC and the original NOA..be there earlier in case the staff questioned it. Some staff are new to it, but as soon as they speak with other staff and supervisors things go ok. In my experience, I had some questions, they made copies but things went ok. Delay was not more than 20 minutes till they figure it out.

Good luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionApril 2011 filers

I called USCIS last night and inquired about our case. I told them we are outside of the normal processing times. So he looked at my case and he said that they are currently processing cases from April 4th and procceded to tell me that I am in fact still within processing times. My receipt says our case was received April 5th. I told him April 5th to November 5th is 7 months and it says online the average processing time is 6 months. He said that time is not accurate...well duh! He was trying to tell me our case was received May 5th & I kept telling him it was April 5th. I asked him if it was possible to put in a service request and he told me no. WTH! One minute I see on VJ they are telling people they are working on Feb. 24th cases and he tells me April 4th cases. I seriously don't get USCIS. So yes, it is a total waste of time to call!

I am a May filer, thats the exact thing they told me last week...since they are processing April as a May file im not outside the processing time..the timeframe in the website is an estimate and goal..I even was told that it take 12-18 months.
If you look at the USCIS website the goal is 6 months and USCIS National Average - 16.7 Month(s)

I agree! Let's keep posts useful or informative...this whinging isnt helping at all. I like to keep positive thoughts about this whole process. We all moan & groan about how slow VSC is...but sheeeeeshhh... enough is enough DarkLuck.

On another note....my 6 months is coming up next week. Now with their new time frame of 6.3 months... can someone pls tell me what a .3 of a month is? :-)

I think 6.3 would be like 6 months and range of (9 to 10 days) depending on how many days is the month??? just guessing  not a big difference i assume...
our 6 months time frame has passed already last week, we might contact them after our 0.3
im not that worried since we have the extension letter...I do have a feeling that we would be applying for citizenship before getting the GC...
