Hello VJ friends... Today has been 3 weeks since my husband went to the Alex office for this Movement Certificate... they told him "Oh if its for the US Embassy then there is NO definite time for it to get here!" protest6wz.gif
He said they didnt even bother looking or anything crying.gif
Its nearly been 3 weeks as well since he did that in Cairo too... still nothing from the Cairo office... His cousin is in Cairo and has been checking on it for him as well...
I dont understand this... what the heck is going on ??? Any ideas or comments from any of u who have experienced getting a movement certificate from alex or cairo? why would it take 3+ weeks??? and what to do ? or just keep asking for it and waiting??? This is holding us up from sending it and the passport to the Embassy for the visa cray5ol.gif

Hey Tam, is this the same thing as obtaining permission to leave the country? If so, we're waiting for that too even though we have the visa.

Middle East and North AfricaMonday
buhhhhh. Work. lol. Give me my flea market day!!!!

Ramy's got a part time job as a party planner's assistant, but he had to travel almost 50 miles to Hartford yesterday in the ice and sleet to be a videographer for a birthday party. I was so scared crapless because he hadn't yet driven in it. Once I found out he arrived to Hartford safe, I figured if he didn't know how to drive in it, he would by the time he got home! Thank God he arrived safe biggrin.gif

When the roads were clear I ventured out to our booth at the flea market. We usually get to the flea market between 7:30-8:00 to set up but yesterday I didn't even try to go until 1:30. Of course the place was deserted except for the vendors. And without Ramy there I ended up buying a piece of furniture I'd been eyeing for a couple months--an early 40's sideboard. It's kind of art deco and absolutely gorgeous! I bought it from a vendor across the room from us and now we're going to use it as a counter. We were going to give up the booth after Christmas, but I'm so excited and love it so much that I don't want to. Ramy doesn't like it much, but I'm hoping my enthusiasm will catch on. lolllllll. I might post pics of the sideboard later because it's soooo pretty. And it only cost me $40, which was even better because they only charged us half rent for the booth. biggrin.gif

Lal, feel better! Ramy's been suffering from the same thing since he got here, but we think he might be allergic to the cat.

No, I don't speak Arabic. But I do know numbers and money! laughing.gif And I could probably get to my in-law's apartment in a taxi from the airport now. But that's about it.

PB lol how excited are you again? laughing.gif now don't do the thing that some of us ladies have done after picking up your habibi.....and that's getting lost on the way home from the airport! Tammy Sue Kay and I both did it and I think it was because I was paying more attention to my love than the road blush.gif

Jackie-- hope your furry bundle of joy starts to feel better soon! It's so hard to have a sick pet. There's something wrong with my cat too--lately instead of being social she just goes and hides under the bed sad.gif. It's so unlike her.

I'm sick today sad.gif. I have a really bad sinus infection that came out of nowhere because yesterday I was fine but today it's been like I was hit by a train. Chicago cashed my AOS check finally too....no wonder I feel sick laughing.gif
deadbirdFemaleEgypt2007-12-19 11:25:00
Middle East and North AfricaThursday
PB - Don't feel like a terrible person! Leaving his family and coming here and adjusting is going to be an up and down ride, and no one ever said it would be easy.

Aymerlu - I hope telling the other clinic to back off works!

Charles - I never wash my car...because as soon as I do, I forget that I just washed it and decide to go on crazy dirt roads and kick up a lot of dust (weeeeeeee!!!)

As for me, I'm sick AGAIN today. Working from home and hope to get more work done than I did yesterday! I have some kind of real nasty upper respiratory infection but it's strange because it's moving really fast...it just seems like all the other times I've had something like this I'll feel the same way for days with like post nasal drip, and then I start coughing with that cough that lingers for weeks...but this time I went through the whole gross nasal thing yesterday and I'm onto coughing today.

What. ever. I just want to feel better crying.gif

Cheryl isn't there a big mall in Cairo you can go to? I forget the name of the one we went to but it was really beautiful and there was a HUGE christmas tree in the food court area and a live piano player. I thought Coptic Christmas was later than the Roman Catholic one though so maybe that's why there's not as much hustle and bustle. I do remember the entire city being very festive though due to Eid.

Dropped the kiddo's off to school and just finished my apple fritter and sippin my latte so I'm on quite the sugar high. :energetic:

Bridget-- are you thinking City Stars Mall perhaps? It's like 5 or 6 stories and huge and beautiful.

sick again dead.gif working from home...

But no matter how sick I am NOTHING's going to stop me from going to an auction tonight. hahaha How I love cheap antique furniture! It's run by the same people who run the flea market we have the booth at.

And I'm waiting for some packages in the mail, though I am getting a little worried that something I ordered from Rhode Island 5 days ago still hasn't arrived though I probably could have walked to their house and back by now. laughing.gif

Middle East and North AfricaNAME CHECKS ON K1 BEFORE INTERVIEW??
Sorry to hear you got stuck!

Remember in the early days of that HUGE wait at VSC when they told me we were in AP? It could have been the beginning of that backlog, but then again there weren't THAT many April filers who got tangled up in that mess. But it wasn't at the NVC level.

Maybe you should ask Nagiskhaw (sp), I think she was stuck at NVC for a while.

Middle East and North AfricaMonday. Wish it was Sunday. 'cause that's my funday.
morning all!

The ice is not so bad here. Last night, yes, but it melted by the time I had to leave for work.

...BUT leaving didn't happen right away because the battery in the jeep was dead and my car is in the shop! laughing.gif Then somehow the windshield wiper lever thing on the steering column half popped off in my hand, and I have no idea how that happened. lol. Eventually my grandfather showed up and gave me a jump, but then I had to stop for gas so I was praying the car would start again! Got to work 1/2 hour late.

If the jeep starts at lunch, I'll be filing for AOS today wacko.gif

It really does feel like Monday! I'm working from...work...for the first time in a week. I'm still pretty sick but I'm damn stubborn and I won't go to the dr. for just a cold.

Middle East and North AfricaQuestions About Interviewing at Cairo Embassy
I think it really depends who you have for the officer. When Ramy went, the CO only asked him about 8 questions and most were about himself and his previous visit to the US, not me. They didn't ask him anything about my family, but they asked him if his family approved of our relationship and what all of them do for work.

I don't know if it's sunk in or not for us that my husband is here, or that we are even married for that matter laughing.gif Maby it did a little this morning when I let him take the car all day and drop me off at work huh.gif It's making me nervous already... But at least he hasn't called to tell me he's lost yet (I made sure we got him a cell phone before letting him attempt this) laughing.gif

Jackie - Glad your feeling so good this morning! Guessing the appt. with the doc went well ? smile.gif

Yes, being MARRIED hasn't quite sunk in. Really strange. lol
deadbirdFemaleEgypt2007-12-28 10:30:00
Middle East and North Africayeahhhh FRIDAY!
lol it FINALLY sunk in...I don't know what did it but it sunk in about 3 weeks after he got here, or maybe after the honeymoon and when I went back to work from vacation and knew he was waiting for me at home.

We don't miss those terrible connections at ALL! Not one tiny bit. But it's crazy how much it changes from missing him from 5000 miles away vs. 30 miles, I miss him when I'm at work and can't wait to get back home to him at the end of the day!

When we got a booth at the local flea market things changed a little too because everyone knows us as the newlyweds who run the booth with the Egyptian stuff, and if he's not at the booth with me, all the vendors around us miss him and ask about him all day! laughing.gif

biggrin.gif First daily thread for me in a while!

I'm so happy it's Friday. Ramy started his new job this morning as a cook in a restaurant. It's not pharmacy, but it's a JOB.

I'm in to work early...why bother sticking around the house when he's working from 7-2...and if I go in for 8, I get out at 4? haha.

Hope you all have a good day smile.gif

We were just there before Christmas, sparrow. I think that's the Afrikano Cafe. We usually sit outside though cause I will get a headache and/or head rush from all of the sheesha.

You guys were right across the street from us. We walk to the mall all the time.

It is the Africano Cafe! We kind of sat off to the side in the hallway. Ramy's sister didn't live too far from there either (and that's where we were staying) and we walked there almost every day of my trip! biggrin.gif
