Unfortunately, visa numbers are not presently available for your use. You will be notified when further
consideration can be given to processing your application for immigration. The reason for this delay is that there
are more applicants for visas than there are immigrant visa numbers available under the limitation prescribed by
law

What to doooooooo!!!! aaaaa :(

thank you for the prompt reply!
greatly appreciate it
so i again went through this article that read the following:

What exactly is the 3-month state residence requirement?

This requirement means that you must have resided within a state or district for at least three months prior to filing your N-400 application. More specifically:

  • The 3-month period must be immediately preceding the filing of your application; and
  • You must maintain residence within a state or district during the 3-month period. However, this does not mean you have to be physically present in the residence or the state for three months. For example, if you have been a California resident and have lived in your CA home for two months, then travel to New York for one month, you may file N-400 immediately upon returning to California as long as your one-month trip is temporary in nature. If you live in CA for two months, then relocate to NY, you must wait three more months before you can file N-400 from the state of New York.

im guessing he just need to be there atleast 3 months before he files for naturalization...exactly how long does it take to gain citizenship??? how many months?

thanks again!

Cheers!

hello,
i needed to ask a question as well and i need a prompt answer ..please ..
okay so my husband is a permanent resident.. he got his green card on October 2007, he has been living is US since then, but he traveled last year, for our marriage for 3 weeks, and planning it this year again in December. he currently works and studies in the US, the problem v r facing is; recently i went through an article that said, that you need to reside 6 months in the US BEFORE you apply for citizenship, besides the remaining time that u need to be there:s technically he can apply on the 3rd of July, cuz he'll complete his 4.9 years. He was planning to spend 3 weeks with me from mid december till 3-4 of january...will him staying till january not count as the 6th month of him residing in US...do u get what im saying?:S i dont get me :S but plzzzz v really need to know soon...cuz just so he could visit me now, i dont wana delay his citizenship process. which would then delay me getting a visa to US :( ...plzzz help us!!
i'd really appreciate the help

This is mostly correct though again I interviewed in LA on March 7th and was scheduled for ceremony on the 21st, which was the same month. So it's not impossible to have it be so close. But definitely no chance of same day oath.

Aw. That sucks! Well I hope the oath takes place soon.
Thanks all for the help

My husband has applied for Naturalization. Finger printing is complete ?? My questions are:
When will he be called for an interview?
I read some place that there are some offices where after the interview they ask if you want to take an Oath the same day, right there! Does anyone have a clue which offices are those that offer the Oath ceremony right after the interview?
Your help will be very much appreciated ??
Thanks and good luck on your processes !

Yes. Your parents can get their GC in 6 months. They need not wait for their priority date once approved.
(Our daughter sponsered us in Jul 2007 and we got our GC in the first week of Dec 2007.)

Yes he should... Yes it will speed up the process. Your current priority date is in March 2011 I think.. you will save your self about 7 months of waiting. Once your case us updated form F2A to IR! then you will have about a 40 days days or LESS to get from change to Interview if there are no scheduling delays at the consulate.

No, No forms to fill.. just proof to send.
What exactly are the steps after a LPR becomes a citizen, has applied for his spouse an i-130, needs to change his status?

Thanks for the prompt reply. Much appreciated.
Wait I sort of got confused reading so many forums. My husband has to inform NVC or the USCIS about his citizenship?
You sure he doesn't have to fill out any other forms but only submit his naturalization certificate?
Cuz he found a new job. Will they ask for another affidavit of support or something? :s
Thanks

US Citizenship General DiscussionFrom LPR to U.S citizen
Hi,

So my husband has his naturalization interview soon, he has applied an i-130 for me. Our case has been completed at the NVC but the file is sitting at the office cuz our PD is not yet current.

My questions are:
- Once my husband becomes a US citizen what exactly should he do to change his status from a LPR to a citizen?
- Secondly, should he contact NVC and inform them that he has become a citizen? Will that speed up our process? Since our case is complete, will NVC send our file to the consular office of my residence?
- Thirdly, does he need to fill out any further forms and send to the NVC once he's a citizen?

What exactly are the steps after a LPR becomes a citizen, has applied for his spouse an i-130, needs to change his status?

Please I need urgent help regarding this matter

Thank you!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresi-130

You are completely misunderstanding the priority date--here are the exact words from the visa bulletin:

Only applicants who have a priority date earlier than the cut-off date may be allotted a number.

In your category, they are processing requests with priority dates PRIOR to July 22, 2008. That is why everyone is telling you it will take about three years to reach your
priority date.

So. Lets say for instance if my category reaches 20th of june 2011. Ill get a visa yeh ?since my dates prior to june 20th?

That is a possibility as there are only a set number a visas available in each category for a given year. Furthermore, derivative beneficiaries also count toward the number of visas available in the categories (someone can correct me if I'm wrong about that).

OP's husband had already filed and the petition has been approved.

OP: If your husband becomes a citizen before the priority date is reached, the petition can be upgraded to IR/CR-1, visas for spouses of US Citizens are always available and not subject to any limitation.

so what if we reach our priority date and hes still not a citizen...then what??? :(

Visas for spouse of LPR's are subject to numerical limitation. kzielinski is correct with the estimate.

what do you mean by numerical limitation? they have limited visas???? i mean when we reach our priority date which is March 24th 2011 I MIGHT NOT get the visa because they are out of them??

Around 3-4 years wait at this time.

ARE YOU KIDDING MEEE????? THE VISA BULLETIN SAYS THAT THEY ARE CURRENTLY GIVING VISAS TO PEOPLE WITH JULY 2008 PRIORITY DATES..OUR PRIORITY DATE IS MARCH 2011 ...WE WERE THINKING IT MAY TAKE ONLY 6-7 MONTHS!!!! PLEASE TELL ME YOUR WRONG

If he becomes a citizen it will take less time, when can he apply?

Well he becomes a citizen next year sometime ..i think he can apply, July 2012...

will it really take 3-4 years!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJune Approval Waiting For NVC#

Try contacting NVC now if they have received your case from the USCIS. As of today, I don't have an NVC Case number yet. but they received my files from USCIS on August 8.2011.it was supposed to be between 10-20 working days now I spoke with an agent and told me to wait another 10days.
I am an LPR when I filed for my husband but will be able to upgrade it for F2 to IR-1 once I have a naturalization certificate. Is he filing for u.s. citizenship anytime soon? If not, you need to check the visa bulletin to have an idea more or less of your waiting time.

hiii
wow my husband called NVC and they received our file on the 8th of August aswell!! ...well yeh ive been looking at the visa bulletin...my husband can APPLY for naturalization next year in July sometime...NVC asked us to wait for another 30 days till they review our file...so r u saying that we'll get a case number once NVC has reviewed our documents???should we go ahead and fill out the remaining forms like DS-230, I-864 so we can post it out to them without any delay???
