Only US Citizen attaches a copy of their US Birth Cert, Naturalization Cert, OR full copy of US Passport (All pages including cover). This is done to prove US Citizenship, only US Citizens can file form I-129F

well, you know wile i was in the states and my fiance and i were trying to find out what's the list of the documents we need to send, we've been at the federal court and got a list from there and from another institution also, and from both places we were told you need the beneficiary's translated birth certificate also.
Personaly i think if that's not necessary, it's always better to have more than less.
You decide!
good luck

Hi again,

I had another question come to mind that I wanted to pose to the forum....I am a college student, with minimal income. I do have quite a bit in assests saved, however since I a full-time student, I have no real "income". I know that there is a responsibility to show proof of financial ability to support you fiance. Does anyone think that this could be an issue?

Also, my fiance wants to study here in America as soon as possible after the wedding. Does anyone know the specifics about when she would become a "resident" for financial aid purposes?

Thanks again!

Zeb

HI1
if you cannot provide any proof aof support you need to name a sponsor(this could be your mother for example!), otherwise, you may have troubles at the conulate!
Sorry!

QUOTE (Jeraly @ Jan 7 2008, 12:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We honestly didn't know much about the whole process when we started and again - we felt that by going through the K-1 we could continue our relationship and see how things went while applying for the visa - if things didn't work out in the meantime then at least we hadn't just got married the immediately put the pressures of a long distance relationship onto it smile.gif

Needless to say two years on we are very happy - we have pretty much mastered (if yuo ever can!) the long distance relationship and are looknig forward to the challenges of living our future lives together smile.gif

The k1 takes less time. It's really getting faster, and that shall be a good reason.

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone here on these forums has ever been denied the K-1 visa because their income was not enough on the affidavit of support, the I-134. I am wondering because I am a very recent college graduate, actually I have finished all my classes and still have not "walked the line" for graduation. My mother will be my cosponsor because she does make enough for any of the requirements and I will find a job soon. Just concerned on how many people get denied for this.

for any case you can have a co-sponsor, and that could be anybody(relative, friend, or whoever)

QUOTE (AUBGER @ Jan 8 2008, 09:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey there. Ok I am from Moldova and I went through the visa process this fall.
If you go to the embassy info link you will find the list of the hospitals you can go to in order to have your medical exam.
My advice is the following:
After you receive your package 3, send it out ASAP. The same package will include the medical forms and all other good stuff. If you want your date fast, call the embassy (they will post the number for interview appointments) and ask then when they have the earliest available date for the interview. They will tell you the date and make an appointment if you would like. After that call the hospitals and check which one is free the day before the interview. I went with biomedica (or something like that) They are relatively cheap and you get the results at 6 pm the same day. One of the three is just a lady that works kind of by herself and you get the results even faster. If you don't want to travel back and forth just reserve a hostel. They re very affordable. Around 20-25 euro/night and pretty cool actually. i can recommend you one by the NORTH Train station.
If you don't want to do it the day before the interview (that is if you have a multiple entry visa) you can do it any day because he medical is valid for 1 year.
Anyways. If any questions ask me. Gotta run to bed...early work day tomorrow
Succese smile.gif

Thank you so much!
I'm happy i don't have to drive crazy my boyfriend with thousands of questions about the visa, specially since he really don't know the answers.
I appreciate your help.

If you have permanent residency status in Romania, everything will be done there, include medical and interview. Vaccination records are not provided to the embassy, but may be used by the doctor that is doing the medical. So it may need to be translated if the doctor doesn't know Russian.

Thank you!
But i'm a Moldova resident , does this mean i can have the medical results at US embassy designated medical center from Moldova??
Plus, i will need the vaccination records for the adjustment of status in the US, right?

I hate to put a dampener on things but you might be cutting it a bit fine smile.gif We did the same thing - booked everything thinking we had plenty of time...

What we are doing now is having a non-legal ceremony (no license, not signing register etc) and then having a small legal ceremony once we have the visa. It's risky - I might not get into the country (unlikely but all the same - have to be prepared for it :/) but we looked at all our options and decided that it was the best chance we had smile.gif

By all means, if you will lose money by changing the date/cancelling the wedding then consider all your alternatives. You might get lucky but it is defo best to be prepared!

Good luck!!!

Hi, we did the same thing: Planned the wedding without the official part, but the reason for us was that we're going to have two weddings. The first one will be in Moldova, and since to entry in the US on a k1 i don't have to be married(not even to my fiance-petitioner) we decided we'll do here the church wedding and the party, but the official part will be done when it's the right time.
This shall be a good alternative.

I just wanted to share.
I was on a j1 In the US last summer.
10 days after entry i applied for a SSN,and guess what, only after introducing my information and having everything done, the officer bothered to tell me that i was suppose to be in USA not less then 10 BUSINESS days, and since i obviously wasn't, they tightened my case for 2.5 months. My friends, meanwhile, got their SSN 2 weeks later, just because they applied a couple days later than i did.
I was so angry devil.gif . It's so damn easy to get cheated by the system.

I have a question, too. Why didn't you apply for a visa extention or change of status? I did the last thing right before my F-1 expried and they allowed me to stay for one more year (I didn't use the whole year though and returned after nine months of staying in B-2 tourist status.) And what about that two-year rule all J-1 students usually - and unfortunatelly - have? I guess it doesn't matter if you've filed for Fiance visa???

Good luck for you and your soulmate:)!!! I hope that time will fly for you as it did for us:)

Hi everyone!

I have an unusual question. I think I need to prove my citizenship with a birth certificate, right? It's just that my situation is made more complicated by the fact that I was a military brat, born overseas. It is VERY difficult to obtain copies and takes forever, in fact I dont even remember who/ what department I would need to contact as all those records have been archived.

Anyway, my question is... is it alright to just send a photocopy of my original? Would it stop a problem in advance if I go have a copy notorized? Do I have to give up my originals? (There are actually about 3 different papers to prove I am a US citizen...

It's all made more complicated than it already is, so I soooo appreciate any good advice.

Thanks a lot! I hope to mail the package this week! good.gif

Never send originals!
And an american citizen can proove his citizenship with a passport copy also.

It sucks that you only have 3 months to get married after they come to the USA. I wish it was more like a year then you would really know each other. I don't want to feel rushed and think living together for a year is ideal. Well time to start searching...........

That's right, you only have 3 months to get married, but that's not all.
To apply for k1 you need to physiqually meet your fiancee in the last 2 years, and to have evidence of that(pictures, tickets, and so on).
So this is some extra time to get to know the person you wanna marry.

J-1 may be subject to a 2 year home residency requirement. If you are subject to it, you would need to return home to your country for two years before immigrating to the US.

Hey!

My fiance in the US filed the I29F in the middle of December - we are still waiting to hear anything. We're currently planning a wedding for December. However, I have just a couple of quesitons which I really cannot find answers to...

The dates of the visa - does the 90 days start from when the visa is issued or do we at some point get an option to pick a star date?

I'm sure I read somewhere that you can get permission to work before the wedding - does anyone have any info on this?

Finally, does my fiance in the US have to be earning more than a certain amount of money? I have never heard this before but just read this on a different post. She is a student at the moment and therefore does have a salary.

Any responses would be most appreciated!

After the visa is issued the fiance hase 120 to enter US, and only after the entry the backcounting of 90 days starts.
No special earnings required for foreign fiance.
If the US petitioner don't have any earnings or is under the poverty level, than he can have a co-sponsor(anybody could be co-sponsor).
Someone might know better about the work permit.I wouldn't like to give you uncertain information.
Good luck!

I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that they only want proofs that you have met. Can someone confirm or refute that?

Documentary Proof of Having Met in Person in the Past Two Years and an Ongoing Relationship:Use as many of these items are possible. There is no minimum,
but the more you can provide the less likely you are that you will receive an RFE.
1.
Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file.

2.
Color Photo's of you and your fiance(e) together. Make sure you write your names, date, and location on the back of every photo. Provide two to five photo's. If you only have a single copy of the photo, then make a color copy and send that. If it is a digital photo, have it printed at a company such as kodakgallery.com. You can also make duplicates of photo's at your local photo store (Walgreeens, CVS, etc). Place photo's in a plastic bag or photo sheet and label the sheet. Note that you may not receive originals of photo's back.

3.
The following items will not typically show proof of having met in the last two years however will show proof of an ongoing relationship: Copies of phone bills, cell phone bills, emails (you can edit personal info with a marker), letters (edit personal info also), stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

QUOTE (Birdman @ Jan 16 2008, 11:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This site has been such a great help to me so far, so firstly I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone in the community.

That being said, I have a few questions, maybe i'm just being #######, but i want to try and get it right on the first try.

1. On the bottom of the G-325a, it says to "write" your name in your native alphabet if it doesn't use roman letters. My computer can type chinese(my fiancee is from China), and it appears legibly in the form. Is this acceptable?
2. I scanned all of our evidence of meeting (boarding passes, passport stamps, etc...) into my computer, is it ok to arrange several images on the same page? Or do I need to use a photocpy of each item individually?
3. On the I-129F, Qestion 15 and 16 as for your fiancee's address and your fiancee's address in their native alphabet respectively. In China, you can send to an address in Pinyin(roman characters) or with Chinese characters, so should I fill in both?
4. If I have to use a seperate sheet for the work history on the G-325a, do I need to print four copies or just one? And do they need a statement and/or signature?
5. The example cover letter on this site shows "Proof of ongoing relationship" listed in the package contents. Is this necessary, or do you just need proof of meeting?
6. If I try to type my name in the first field on the I-129F, it's cuts off the last letter of my name. How do I handle this?
7. Do I need to provide any proof of income with the I-129F package?
8. Do I need to sign each photocopied piece of evidence for Q18 on the I-129F? Or can I just make a statement on the additional Q18 page saying I confirm that these are unaltered copies?

If these are silly questions don't hesitate to let me know, I just figured better safe than sorry, so I asked.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You know, silly questions come naturally when you wanna do your best to do things right!
1.So your computer can type chinese, and it appears legibly in the form? IT IS acceptable.
2.It's ok to arrange several images on the same page, not a big deal!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 in October. Still no NOA2!
QUOTE (Donato @ Jan 15 2008, 11:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
What can i do! I recieved my NOA1 on October 2nd. I called USCIS (california) and they said i have to wait 6 months from the time i recieved the NOA1 before i can call and ask them to hurry the heck up. I've been reading other people's posts and it seems that most everyone else has recieved their NOA2's!! even people who filed after me. I want to punch a wall.. *sigh*. Its been so long already...

Is there ANYONE else waiting for their NOA2 who recieved their NOA1 in october or earlier? I think im really the last one left in the dust. I've been forgotten. great. I should have sprayed the paperwork with perfume or something right? or put little sparklies on the paper or something? anything to make them want to get back to it quicker... sad.gif

so depressing.......

Hey,don't be comparing with many others. It's not the way it works.
As long as you're not out of the timelines that they give you, you're fine.
It's natural for you to be nervous and to be missing your lovedone, but it's nothing unusual that's heppening with you.
Relax,and pray!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport photo- advice please!
QUOTE (bnr @ Jan 21 2008, 07:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello,

I have a Q regarding the passport photo. In the USCIS instructions they do not state the exact dimensions of the photo itself that they need. Just that the full frontal image must be one inch from your chin to the top of your hair. I read an informational page on a site giving a very precise description to what the photo should look like, also stating that it should be 2" by 2" in dimensions.

The problem with this is that everywhere he has gone to get a passport photo they only do....about 1 and a quarter by 2" and some 1 and a half by 1 and a half. So our option would be is if he went to a professional studio, who then told him it could take over a week to get the photo, we are trying to send this application ASAP! What should we do? I don't want to take a risk that USCIS will reject our photo and ask us for another and delay our app. so should we go ahead with the professional photographer.
Oh and yes, he has already tried to make one on his computer and keeps coming out with problems.

Thanks!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresadjudication date
QUOTE (ZeeNusah @ Jan 22 2008, 08:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Remember, this is only an estimation and it is based on the timelines of other VJers. So, as people fill in their timelines the date may/may not change.

Thank you, but on second thought, i know it's not official it's just pissing me off.
Everything does as long as i'm in the middle of this...
Thanks again

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresadjudication date
Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated as early as July 12, 2008* this is what my timeline says now, but yesterday it was july 8.
I meen, i'm good enough in maths to know that it's four days defference, it's been one day, and we're having a four days longer estimation.
Does anybody know how are those dates calculated?
I'm confused... and disappointed every day more.
I don't feel like i'm closer to my baby everyday, i feel like somebody's taking us for puppets.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPeople just dont get it, do they?
Yep,that's human nature 'though!
You know it's hard when you're laying in bed with a broken leg, but when you actioly are in this position it's so damn hard and difficult...My point is that a human being is most of the time the center of her own world, and we can be supportive and understanding, but we can never realise what's going on in somebody else's heart.
Don't takeit like an offense, they love you...really! That's not about you.
Why don't you celebrate instead?
Woo-hoo,you've got reasons!!!

it's the subject of much study, and in fact there has been a call for papers on the issue

submissions so far have included speculation on whether it has to do with...

if you have any thoughts on the matter, the deadline for submissions is April 1 smile.gif

it's a good thing people don't forget to joke even if most of the time it feels like crying.
Thank u all good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat's exactly the difference
Does anybody know why the difference of the processing times at different cervice centers so significant?
Is it because some ofthem are getting much more petitions or it's something else?
Just wondering... huh.gif
(specifically the CSC prognoses for I-129 are a month or two longer than the VSC)
B'sAFemaleMoldova2008-01-30 16:07:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI know now the difference
Texas and Nebraska are no longer servicing I-129F's, it all seems to be going to California, with CSC now handling 3/4 of the work load and taking 2.5 months minimum.
At least we can now know why...
