National Visa Center (Dept of State)interview date

my case is f2b and may priority date is jan 1999.my case was completed sept 2009. :innocent:

well now that makes a BIG difference because earlier you stated it was 2009 and not 1999...if that's the case then you will roughly have to wait about 2-4months to receive your interview

National Visa Center (Dept of State)interview date

my category is f2b and my priority date is jan 2009.my case was completed sept 2009 :innocent:

currently for May 2010, f2b(unmarried son/daughter 21yo or older of permanent resident) philippines is giving out visas for November 15, 1998 priority date so you have about roughly 8-9years more to go until a visa will be made available to you...once a visa is available only then you will be assigned an interview date

crisbess, call the call center and see if they can help you because i know that if they have openings for K1 interviews on the day that you want that they are very accommodating...i don't think 2 days earlier should be a problem though. just make sure you call them right away before the slots fill up. wishing you all the best on your fiance's interview. god bless! :star:

Philippinesi want to ask something....
well i have an uncle who got married to my aunt in PI but later on got divorced in the US. my uncle had a girlfriend again in PI that he wants to eventually marry but got denied for K1 visa because the CO stated his US divorce decree was not enough since divorce is not recognized in PI that he would have to get his marriage annuled in PI also since that's where the wedding took place...when he wanted to try and get married in PI when he went to get his legal capacity consent from USEM manila they also looked for his US divorce papers & PI annulment of the marriage so until now he is still in the process of getting the resolution for their annulment.

PhilippinesCan't read the birth certificate

My wife sent me her birth certificate with the NSO stamp. I can't read it at all. All the words are blurred  Why would they even give this to someone :bonk: I understand screw ups are very common at NSO. I would like to know if my wife has the original from the city where she was born, and we get a statement from NSO saying that this is the best copy (it says that on the document) will that be acceptable? Does anyone have experience with this?

hehehe our NSO certificates were all like that but never was a problem w/NVC

PhilippinesPOE question
when i went to go get my husband, CBP allowed up to go through US Citizen line since I was...they did the routine check on my husband then the officer went w/us to the immigrants line & allowed us to go to the front of the line & have his POE packet examined by the officer...the officer just looked at his xray film, gave it back to my husband, asked him what address he will be staying at, gave him a handout on getting his social security then stamped his I-94 form & passport then that was it...btw our POE was Honolulu,HI. but good thing we didn't have to wait & stand in that very long 1st time immigrant line or else we would have been waiting there for at least an hour but instead it only took us about less than 10minutes!

PhilippinesManila US Embassy

Well that really sucks! Coz that PIN costs $18 for 3 calls and I'm sure they deduct "holiday on hold" calls from your PIN. They should just have a recording or something and not deduct you PIN if real person is unavailable for your call.

Sorry for double post...my computer just locked up....and I clicked too many times...

well not exactly for 3 calls because I used my pin over and over for I say oh over 20 times and it still worked hehehe...i still have it btw if anyone interested then just pm & ill be glad to help!...shouldn't be a holiday today because it's may 4th there already & besides my parents will be having their interview there in 1.5hrs :star:

Thanks... I will be calling this afternoon US time to know if they have a slot for an earlier interivew schedule. I hope so since I will going to Phil earlier. thanks

good luck on rescheduling...i hope they will be able to accommodate you so everything will run smoothly

Philippinesstressing out and waiting for visas to be delivered

we got approved my 3 kids and me) in april 27 and visa hasnt been sent yet..does anyone here have the same concerns ?
i live in pasay manila and im just wondering why the visas arent delivered yet.or at least i should get a txt msg from air 21..i tried racking our numbers online but nada :( im just worried cos e booked our flight on may 9th ..so is anyone here waiting for the visas? and had their interview the same day i did?

i would try and call Air21 and ask if the embassy released your visas yet...maybe they just haven't put it in the system yet...sometimes they take awhile to do it but it would make me feel more at ease if you call and talk to a person.

Philippinescfo seminar
CFO is a waste of time & money but that's what the PI airport requires in order for 1st time travelers to get out of the country...it is a hassle especially if it's a big group or if you're far from a CFO location...but for the many times my family needed the CFO we just have this family friend of ours who knows someone who works there to just give us the CFO stickers w/o actually going there to do the seminar...she just ask us for one 2x2 pic & some money, she fills out the paperwork then she gets the sticker simple as that. That was most useful when we had 12 of our relatives coming here...she took all of their passports & requirements & got it done...but this is just based on our experience & haven't had any trouble yet.

they didn't tell her anything during or after the interview. I don't know maybe she was too excited or something.

when you recieve your visa packet the embassy usually puts in there a flyer saying that the CFO is required in order to fly

PhilippinesCalling for interview
well it's really up to you but for me, it was more convenient for me to just pay the $18 & call myself...actually even though they say the pin# is good for only 2 calls, i was able to use the same pin# over & over again maybe about over 20 times so i got my money's worth...if you call from the philippines you would have to use a PLDT landline :star:

A co-sponsor is acceptable for a K-1 and a I-134 will be used not a I-864, will someone please care to chime in if i am incorrect ?

that should be correct because I had a co-sponsor for my fiance about 5yrs ago...i used the form i-134 & had no problems whatsoever

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUsing a sponsor
it's ok to have a sponsor for K1 visa because I had a sponsor when I petitioned my fiance & we had no problems with it...i just made an affidavit stating that i did not meet the poverty guidelines & i would make sure my fiance would not become a public charge by getting someone to sponsor him & provide financial assistance if need be

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionForms that need to be notarized
I am reading conflicting stories on what needs to be notarized. We never notarized our letter of intent to marry and we were approved, yet other couples have done it.

Will someone clarify exactly what needs to be notarized? Is it just the I-134 form? We don't need to spend more money on things like that especially if it's not necessary. I just spent $42.40 for a Canadian police certificate in Vancouver and was told by the Japanese embassy that my police certificate there will take 2 months to process! Plus the medical is going to cost $275?! So...not in a good mood...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDo we need a co-sponsor??
I'd appreciate anyone's input on this...

My fiance's (USC) annual salary meets the income requirement, however, he only started this job June of 2005 so his income tax return of 2005 does not meet the income requirement.

He does not have anyone to co-sponsor him in the States. Can a letter from his employer stating that his employment is in good standing and makes XXX amount for his salary enough?

Thank you in advance!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionProcuring Police Cert at Japan Embassy
Hi there...

I taught in Japan for a year so I had to obtain a police certificate from the Japanese Consulate here in Vancouver. I don't know if they have a consulate in Korea but I would contact them and ask them exactly what they require of your fiance.

I called the Japanese Consulate here and they wanted to see my passport in which the Japanese Visa was issued, and the rotten thing was they wanted me to bring the official document from the US consulate (the checklist from Packet 3) requesting the foreign police certificate. So I basically had to wait and wait and wait for that checklist before I could request one.

It will take 2 MONTHS for that police certificate to get to me, and that's the reason why I haven't been able to schedule an interview yet. The reason it takes that long is because Japan is SO bureacratic that it has to go through many, many hands before it gets here, and it is unneccessarily translated into 5 different languages. That is so Japan. The only good thing is that it was free. Pretty much the only thing that has not cost me any money since applying for the K1.

I don't know what citizenship your fiance is, but if she is living in Korea, it may be faster...because it's closer than Canada?...this I don't know. But that's my experience anyway. Hope this helps somewhat.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFinally, an interview date

For everyone that will have thier Fiancee with them for Xmas...It has to be fate...And I'm very happy to see CSC is doing somethings right..

Susie finally got her interview date in Seoul on 7 Dec 06. If everything goes well, Susie will be here before Christmas. That is assuming plane tickets aren't through the roof. This site is a tremendous asset both for information and comfort. Thanks!

You're right, it must be fate, because we got our interview date for Nov22 and it looks like we'll be able to spend the holidays together too.

Congrats mrc!

Question for the wise ones...

After going through the process, what would you suggest as the least-stressful order in which to apply for SSN, getting married, etc....

Is is easier to get married right away and have your name changed BEFORE applying for SSN (instead of going in twice) or do I need that immediately so I can be employed? If someone could kindly list a brief order a the best way to do things once entering the US that would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

CanadaVancouver's Medical - Dr. Ian Morgan
Hi fellow Canadians,

I just read alcearosa's account of her Calgary medical and am just short of freaking out. I feel for you, girl! I was not aware of any "breast" examination or "peeks" down south as part of the examination!!! If there is anyone, esp. female, who can tell me what their experience was like with Dr. Morgan that would be great. I don't like surprises when it come to medical examinations!

Yikes! I just had mine done not too long ago in Halifax and it was $150.

Just recently someone posted and said they paid $285...I think it was Montreal...I forget...

I felt almost a little shafted because I could have easily done that exam on someone myself! Surely not worth $275.

The eye exam was the silliest. They didn't care if I had my glasses on or off.

Yeah, it was pretty lame.

CanadaJust had medical interview
Hi there...

Thanks to all who shared their Vancouver medical experiences, it was just like what you described...

Got there at 6:45 am to a big line-up already. Had 2 vials of blood taken, was cattle-called in unflattering pink gowns to get a chest x-ray, waited around for another hour to see the doctor. Mine was named "Bob".

Kept my underwear and socks on, my throat and ears were examined. Neck was felt up, and only one side of my underarm was felt. That's it! No "peeking" down south OR touching of abdominal region. Nurse was in there the whole time. Weight and height measurements taken. Had a brief eye exam with my contacts in. Paid $275. Was out of there at 9:30am.

I felt almost a little shafted because I could have easily done that exam on someone myself! Surely not worth $275.

The best word of advice definitely was to bring a book to kill time, or Sudoku puzzles if you're into those. They had one "Time" magazine and a handful of those crappy mini soap opera digest mags that no one reads anyway.

Luckily I live right in the city so I'm at home and then I have to return at 2pm to pick up the results.

Bye for now!

CanadaQuestion about graduate school in Canada
Deadpool,

It will probably depend directly on the job that you will be applying for. I am in the teaching field, and when I applied for a teaching job in the state that I will be moving to, they required all my credits to be evaluated by a company called "ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators)". This can be done on-line, however you are required to submit ALL transcripts (incl. high school). This is regardless of the fact that you have been educated in Canada, because unfortunately there are differences in whether or not they see you fit trained in that particular field. I am not experienced in the Psychology field so I can't really give you advice on that, but as an educator in Canada, you are required to have at least a B.Ed, whereas you can teach in the states without a degree so some places do not recognize the degree. This may affect the pay scale you should be recognized for.

Perhaps you can do some job searching in the state you will living in (if you haven't already) and check out what they need to see from you. It can't hurt! :)

CanadaVancouver Interview?

they already wrote back... Nov. 20! A week earlier than I requested actually!

Guess they felt sorry for me and my anxiety! :)

PS - it is at 10:AM. Should I show up at 10 or earlier? I seem to recall posts that people show up early and get in line, or did I make that up?

That works at other embassies sometimes, but not at Vancouver. :) Show up at 9:45 or so, and you'll be all good. The guards will let you into the K-visa line when they see your x-ray envelope.

(...are you supposed to bring the x-ray to the interview??)
