My 3 year GC anniversary was on Feb 25, my last update was "On January 6, 2012, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview."

Nothing since then :angry:

I agree it makes no sense to interview before the anniversary but my interview will now be April at the earliest.

Originally I though it would be nice if I could be one of the first to interview, now I just don't want to be last!! :blink:

Yes, your online status will be updated and will say "Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview."

In my case, it took about a week.


Mine says "On January 6, 2012, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview". It has not been updated since :(

Hi guys,

Someone mentioned that Oath Ceremonies in Atlanta are held once a quarter. Is this true? She was given an Oath date for the 28th of February, and I wanted to see if this is the frequency of Oaths, or incorrect information.

Looking at the immigration timeslines in VJ for Atlanta and sorting by Oath date descending, they seem to be much more frequent (12/12, 11/18, 10/07, 09/23, 09/08 etc.)

My wife received her interview appointment letter today, but we never received a bio appointment letter. That seems odd.

I'll not risk screwing up the Applicants list, but if anybody cares to add us, our N400 information is:

Hey Darren and Crissy,

I was just reading your replay as above and it seems a feasible plan. The one question I do have to ask is that the last time I did the bioinformatics part of this whole application we had to drive a long distance. I have no idea where they would be sending us now unless it's in the same place and so just going all the way out there to have the date changed seems unreasonable don't you think? if understand from what you are saying as long as I don't miss that date I can leave to and from the country before my expected expiry of my green card. Can you leave the cntry after your free card has expired and you are still waiting on the permanent resident status?


I guess I was spoiled by living 30 mins from my local USCIS office.

I know that someone did early biometrics in Greer, SC but I am not sure about Charlotte, NC. You can always post the letter requesting a new date but for peace of mind I would take a day trip in the hope of sorting it out. I did this when my bio was booked for a time that I was on vacation in TX and any delay would have affected my naturalization interview. I am in CT but my closest ASC is 20 miles away in NY.

I managed to turn up a day late for my removal of conditions biometrics but that is another story :blush:

My biometrics letter was a couple of weeks after my NOA letter. The biometric appointment was a couple of weeks after the biometrics letter.

To get safely back into the USA you must:

1. Attend the ROC bio appointment or reschedule it for a later date
2. Carry your old green card until you get the 10 year one.
3. Carry your NOA letter which extends your old green card for 12 months if the old one will be expried when you return.

I would carry the NOA letter even if you intend to be back before the old GC expires (just in case you get delayed).

Unless it was an emergency, I just refused to travel internationally when my permanent resident status was in limbo.

The only part I am not clear on is what happens if you miss the ROC bio appointment and try to return on the old green card before it expires. Does abandon in this case mean abandoning PR status, or just ROC?

Thankfully that is all in the past now for me :D

Hello everybody,
just filed my Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence on 06/07/2012, my green card expire 07/12/2012.
Me and my wife bought tickets for Italy and we planned to stay from 08/02/2012 to 08/18/2012.
Now, my questions are: can i still go to Italy during this process?
Is there an application to fill out and have permission to go in Italy?

You should have your bio letter in plenty of time.

If when you get the letter the appointment is scheduled for while you are out of the country, write a letter asking to reschedule the appointment stating the dates that you will be out of the counrty and take it to the address on the bio letter.

When you get there tell them that you will be out of the country on your scheduled date and ask to do bio there and then. If you are not able to the bio, give them the letter to reschedule after you get back.

There is no requirement to do bio before travelling but you must make sure that you do not miss the bio appointment while you are out of the country or you will find it hard to get back into the USA.

I Just wanted to say thanks to you all. I know I didn't write much (that is just how I am) but I have appreciated all of the good advice and following the progress of others in the same boat.

I arrived at JFK on Sunday 17th August and got married on Tuesday 19th. Everything went exactly to plan and I cant believe how lucky I have been. Even the weather was perfect!

At least I will be with Crissy for the next part of the visa journey. kicking.gif

The interview was a mere formality with no drama...just the waiting in line, waiting in that crowded room, etc. as most everyone else has reported about London. They let me go inside the Embassy with no problems. There was the usual mix of questions and it was more of a conversation. How did you meet? What does she do? When did it get romantic between you two? (since we were friends for years) What are your plans for a wedding?

I asked Nick if that about sums it up and he said "apart from that stupid little woman at window #1 who seemed oblivious of the fact that I couldn't hear a word she was saying and had to keep asking her to repeat everything." He thought the young man at window #16 was very pleasant.

Note: Anyone going to London, if you find a very large clip on the vertical blinds by the fan, it's mine. I was getting annoyed at the buzzing sound made by those blinds being sucked into the industrial sized fan, so being Mommy Nic, I had to fix it. rofl.gif

Oh yes, and I finally found ice cold Diet Coke in England.....at the AMERICAN Embassy. laughing.gif There was also an interesting mix of American candy bars and British crisps (that's chips.)

We were worn out by the time we got home because we walked to the Embassy, then back to the hotel to retrieve our phones, camera, etc, then to the Buckingham Palace inside tour (lovely), then Hard Rock to eat, then back to hotel to retrieve luggage, then to the bus...mucho walking and my feet were beginning to complain loudly to my uncomfortable shoes. Good night all!

I am now busily reducing all of my stuff to fit into 3 suitcases – I can definitely recommend going to a car boot sale, I stopped off at one on the way to dump my stuff and made almost £200 good.gif

IMHO, If you had reason to file for expedited AP with AOS, you may find that EAD also gets expedited (I expedited AP and received EAD approval in 23 days). Obviously, there are no guarantees and I would not advocate expediting AP unless there was legitimate reason to do so.

I would not bother sending e-tickets, I am pretty sure that they would be ignored since they don't prove that you travelled. I would use boading passes and photocopies of passport stamps instead.

I highly recommend calling right when they open at 7:30AM EST because I did that this morning and got right through to someone with no waiting (just pressed 1 and then 5).
