Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)how do you write an ALBANIAN ADDRESS ???
Hey you guys, I have a question which is completely off topic. I'm sorry but this is the only thread where I see some Albanians (or spouses of Albanians). I had a question about the Police Certificate. Does any of you (or your Albanian spouses) know where to get it? I already went to the reciprocity site, but there were three different options and I don't know which one is about my case. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the three options at the Albania Reciprocity Schedule:

Police Records

Currently, to obtain a criminal document from the District Attorney's office concerning pending and final criminal and civil cases, one needs to go to the District Attorney's office in the district of their residence, present an ID and pay the necessary fee.

To obtain a document from the District Court concerning any active court cases, one needs to go to the District Court office in one's district of their residence, present and ID and pay the necessary fee.

To obtain a criminal court certificate from the Office of Judicial Status, one needs to go to the Office of Judicial Status in Tirana from Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m., present an ID and pay the necessary fee.

Again, I'm so sorry for barging in. Hope you understand. innocent.gif

QUOTE (Bobby_Umit @ Jun 5 2009, 08:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Usually it's up to you to make your medical appointment, prior to getting to the interview.

Most want you to do it 4-5 days before the actual interview (for processing) - but you should go by what your paticular embassy wants.

Look on the embassy website, most have detailed instructions on where to go, and when to do it.

(ok - just looked at their website - it has no info I can find. You may want to call/email them for the info)

Phone: 355 4 247 285 Ext 3348
Fax: 355 4 232 222
E-mail: IRC_Tirana@state.gov

Yeah I know, I already looked on the embassy webpage...well I guess I'll give them a call then. Thanks for replying!

I got my appointment letter 2 days ago...Interview is scheduled for July 8th smile.gif
Now what? When should I go do the medical exam? And where? I don't have any info... I only know that in Albania there are two appointments. I also heard that the 1st appointment should be exactly 2 weeks before the interview and the 2nd 1 week before the interview. Idk if that's correct.
I guess I'm gonna receive a letter from the embassy at some point that will guide me through this...but the thing is that Albanian mail it's kinda unreliable. That's why I would like to get some info from you guys, just in case I don't get the letter from the embassy (u never know). Thanks in advance.

AS LONG AS YOU HAVE PCC FROM YOUR PREVIOUS PLACE YOU LIVED DURINGG THOSE TIME AND IT STATED YOUR NAME, DOB, AGE, AND YOU USED TO LIVE THAT PLACE AND ALSO STATED IN THE PCC THAT YOU HAVE NO CRIMINAL RECORDS THAT IS GOOD. THE HEADER SHOULD STATE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN YOUR CASE, THE DA, DATE AND IF THE PCC HAVE EXPIRATION. IN DUBAI, FOR MY WIFE CASE IT TOOK HER 10 DAYS, WHEN SHE DID HERS IN HER HOMETOWN IN CEBU TOOK ABOUT 10 MINS SO EACH COUNTRY IS DIFFERENT.

PCC NEED TO CONSIST OF YOUR NAME, DOB, FROM TO DATE (MAY VARY), CITY YOU LIVED, APPROVING AUTHORITY AND SHOULD STATES THAT HAVE NO CRIMINAL RECORDS OR ANY NEGATIVE INFORMATION ON YOU. K, MAYBE I AM REPEATING MYSELF... BOTTOME LINE EACH CITY OR COUNTRY IS DIFFERENT... GOODLUCK!

Thank you for answering. You are right, every country is different. Thanks to beniecenvet (who has an experience with the procedures in Albania) now I know I wasn't really wrong, I just have to go to 2 other places to get it completed. Anyway, I appreciate your imput. TY! smile.gif

Hey everyone, I went to the District Attorney's office today to get my Police Certificate and they just handed me a little piece of paper saying I didn't have any penal/criminal cases (smth like that), payed a truly significant fee and that was that. Did I go to the right place? Cuz I read on Wiki that to get the police certificate may take a long time....or maybe thats how it works in my country....I'm confused. Can you guys help?

Hi, there are three of them in total. My wife got two of them same day while the other one took a couple of days. They are...

1. Republika e Shqiperise (GJykata e rrethit gjyqesor Tirane)
2. Republika e Shqiperise (Ministria e Drejtesise - Drejtoria e Pergjithshme e Burgjeve) I think this is the major one and that it took a couple of days.
3. Republika e Shqiperise ( Prokuroria)

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you very much! Appreciate your help! So I assume I'm gonna need to send all three of them when the time comes, right?

Yup. You need to send all three translated to NVC.

Thanks. And good luck on the interview!

My wife needs to send me documents from Tirana.

What is the best way to get them here in USA?

I use FedEx to send to her but.....

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Rick

I would NOT suggest regular mail. It's very slow and very unreliable. I don't know about the other options beniecenvet is talking about, but I don't really trust the Albanian mail system. I always use DHL to send documents to my husband in the States and he always gets them in 1-2 days (except if you send it on friday, it'll take an extra 2 days cuz of the weekend). It's a little bit more expensive than regular mail but I think it's worth it, especially for documents.

I am leaving to Manila on tuesday and i am afraid i will never get those documents on time. Although we have already submitted to the NVC our form I-864 together with tax transcripts they will still require those during my interview, right? My question is...since my interview will be on the 18th but i am leaving on the 9th for my medical...can we still request for a copy of his tax transcript? Is it possible for the IRS to fax me the copy of my husband's 2008 tax transcript so i can get it faster than have it send through mail? or have it fax to my husband and husband scan and email it to me? Is it acceptable to bring scanned form I-864 during my interview? or does it need to be an original copy? This is the only way i can think of getting those requirements faster. Pls if you have any idea you can share with me...i appreciate it. Thanks!

whoa....i never made copies of my docs...and neither has my husband. we sent originals to NVC and i thought the only thing im supposed to bring with me at the interview is the medical report, passport photos, and proof of a bonafide marriage. am i screwed for not having made copies of the docs???

Visa is activated at entering the US through POE - as such is good for a year as a temporary green card until the real GC arrives approximately a month later.

The issuing authority is USCIS. www.uscis.gov

No way to speed to the process of issuing the GC - simply use the stamped visa that is your temp GC. if you need to travel or to prove you can work.

thank you for your answer. my husbands family is planning a cruise in August and strangely enough the cruise guy told them that Mexico needs the actual GC to let me in... they won't recognize the stamp blink.gif

Go the Mexican consulate in Albania and inquire about getting a visa to visit Mexico on your Albanian passport. They're generally easy to get.

won't that cause any complications with my (not yet activated) US visa? unsure.gif

Why would it? Until you're an American citizen, you'll still be traveling on your Albanian passport. You can travel anywhere you want to, or at least anywhere you're allowed to with it. The US is only concerned if you have documents that allow you to enter the US. They don't care if you also have documents (i.e., a visa) that allow you to enter Mexico. That's between you and the Mexican government. As long as you have documents that will allow you to return to the US at the end of the cruise, I think you should be fine.

yeah, i guess you're right. But is it possible for me apply for a visa to Mexico once I'm in the States?

The problem is not whether she's allowed to enter Mexico or not, but whether she's allowed back in the States after the cruise, is that right?

The I-551 stamp that you will get at the US POE should be more than enough to travel and be allowed back in the US without any problems. I think what the cruise employee was talking about is that you need to be a US permanent resident to be allowed to take the cruise, which you will be once you enter the US. The card is just an ID that replaces the stamp but they're both the same thing.

Diana

i know, my husband told the exact same thing to the guy... but he wouldn't listen. blink.gif and then he told my husband that he had talked to the Mexican Embassy and they had said that they don't accept anything but the actual GC (they won't recognize the stamp) ... blink.gif

They're generally easy to get.

won't that cause any complications with my (not yet activated) US visa? unsure.gif
