K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPolice Certificates (UK)

PC are valid for around 1 year and the process normally takes 2-3 weeks

They have a 10 day and 2 day processing option. I remember getting mine done with the 2 day option in November, all in all taking about 5 days to arrive from the time I mailed the form.

I'll get another one if I have to, but was wondering if the current one is acceptable to the embassy.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPolice Certificates (UK)
I'm awaiting packet 3 for my interview in Dublin. Having lived previously in the UK, I require a police certificate from there as well as Ireland. I have a UK certificate from a visa interview in November 2010, and was wondering if this is still valid for an interview with a probable date of late June/early July.

My fiancee told me they should be issued within 6 months of interview. Is this correct?

Thanks! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 APPROVED!!!!!!
Vermont is definitely moving along with the applications, and flying through January at this point. I'm sure the rest of the January filers will be receiving notification in the very near future. :)

I hope those still waiting from 2010 get their notifications soon.

Thanks again for the well wishes. It's great to feel that support from others with an understanding of the process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApproved! Not so fast....
First and foremost, get transport to and from the embassy if there's a real risk of getting robbed. I hope to God he's careful so he can get himself home.

I hope your situation gets resolved soon. God Bless.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDon't plan til visa in hand

If you wait until after takeoff, the ticket is worth zero.

While this is 99% true, I've had Aer Lingus allow me to just pay the change fee and difference AFTER the date. It doesn't hurt to ask. In any case, definitely better to change the flight beforehand or book a flexible ticket.

Best of luck with everything.

Wouldn't be at all concerned, shouldn't matter in the slightest. Work situation in Britain is pretty lousy right now anyway.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYoung Love and a Total Newbie at this..
Hi Bolded Penguin,

I can't let the opportunity pass without offering a little bit of help, as I feel I can identify with your situation better than most.

I met my girlfriend online at the same age (17) as yourself and we're now finally at the stage where we're applying for the K1 visa. In our case, it took us a bit of time before we even considered dating, so we did have the luxury of time to establish our friendship first, albeit with the distance between us. When our relationship changed in a big way and we became a couple, our thoughts naturally turned to meeting up and even the progression from that point. I understand why you're thinking of visas even now, as we did the same thing, even if it's just at the tire kicking stage. There's nothing wrong with knowing the potential options; better to be aware than not.

Without doing what others tend to do, offering relationship advice, I'd suggest you both do all you can to enjoy and focus on the things you do have right now. By that I mean the things you both share and the things you both have at home. Sticking out school can be difficult, but you need to think ahead - which you seem to be doing in this respect - and put yourselves in the best position to succeed, both individually and, if you both want it, as a couple. If you're dead set on taking the visa route, you're going to need that extra bit of financial clout. Try to allow the situation to be a motivation at school rather than a hindrance.

I know many people mean well when they advise you on relationships, be they long distance or otherwise, but it is difficult for others to understand your unique circumstances. Trust your instincts and don't let people scare you with anecdotes and cynicism, neither of which have any relevance to you. When it comes to your life, and the immigration process, you do have control over it, and it will take plenty of hard work on both parts. But if you do both want it for the right reasons, you will achieve it.

I also know a thing or two about the legal aspects, and I'm always willing to give a bit of advice for free because I'm a pretty cool guy. :P

Best of luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisisting US after application denied
I can't see how not having phone or email records would lead to a denial. From what you posted, it's morethan likely the RFE wasn't complied with, but at this stage that's guessing. Do what was suggested, return a copy of the letter, etc with the evidence they require and make an attempt to salvage something before throwing in the towel. I've seen people here mention calling a political representative as well, which may also be worth a try. Call the USCIS and ask to speak to an official with some knowledge of the situation. To lose out on a minor technical issue would surely go against the spirit of the process, and seems overly harsh.

Without knowing more than what you've typed, that decision just doesn't seem to make any sense.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncrease in approvals?
Adding to CMed's post, it's tough to see those waiting for months on end with no NOA2. I hope they get their approvals soon. Also, there's probably enough people not updating timelines after the approval comes, leading to anomalous results.

Here's hoping they all get approved in good time.

I guess for now it is the accepted form. I'll check back before interview and email the embassy beforehand to confirm.

The current DS 156 form has an expiry date of May 31 2011. https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp

So, is this still ok to use?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngaged to be married
My advice would be to consider the personal questions first. Do you wish to be married, then spend time apart or would waiting and starting married life together be better? Talking these personal questions over as a couple will be the most important aspect of the entire process. It's too easy at times to get lost in the paperwork and the waiting game. Not to sound selfish, but the lesson I've learned is to put yourselves first and not to base plans around outside factors.

Look then at the financial requirements, what documents both you and your fiancee will need, the time each will visa take, and decide together what will be best.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo nervous
I don't know about Manila specifically, but it's a week in Ireland. Even if you're delayed, you should still be able to change your ticket to a later date for a change fee and any difference in fare. I wouldn't sweat it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVetting form Ireland
You can probably email your local Garda superintendent. I called and he informed me I could apply by email to save time. I had to send Full name, DOB, Occupation and Current Address, along with a copy of passport photo page. I got the form in the mail within 3 weeks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPreparing Information ahead of beneficiary pack recieval from embassy
You'll need to fill in the forms sent in Packet 3, DS-230 Part I, II, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157. These can be done on Adobe and in the case of DS-156 on the site itself before generating a PDF document version.

You'll need police certificates for the purpose of submitting to a foreign embassy for any country you've lived in for 6 months or more from the age of 16.

You'll need certified copies of things like birth certs, marriage records (if any). They should be no bother.

Evidence of relationship, evidence of ongoing relationship since filing, such as photos, plane tickets, phone and email records, etc.

Evidence of support, I-134 Affidavit of Support Form. Get the beneficiary copies of W2, tax, bank, letter from work, etc.

Arrange the medical, I think it's usually done near the London embassy by a certain doctor. Get vaccinations in advance, things like MMR, Tetanus, etc. There's a list somewhere.

There's a good guide here: http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket three question! (and some others)
It won't have any bearing.

Out of interest, was he denied for having not being able to show non-immigrant intent? I, myself, was denied a tourist visa for this reason last year, as I was up front with the immigration officer about my relationship with my fiancee and my intentions for short term study.
