Mexico, Latin & South AmericaMedical requirements for a South African
Hi,

What are the standard medical requirements a South African must complete before he enters America? The more requirements i need to submit, the more money which is not something i should be stressing about before i leave South Africa

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 VISA & I134FORM

Mark,
Even though your fiancee does not meet the income criteria she still MUST submit an I-134. So, yes - one I-134 for her, one for her brother (the co-sponsor).

Best of luck,

Alan

Thank you so much for your response Alan

The closer i get to the interview date, the more stressed i become.

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 VISA & I134FORM
Hi all,

Hope someone is able to help.

All my forms are ready for my interview on the 1st March 2010. The only forms i await is the I134 form which my fiance is completing. She is currently in graduate school and does not work full time and therefore does not meet the income requirement. Her brother has offered to also do the I134 form and he does meet the min income requirement.
My question is:
Can my fiance complete the I134 form even though she does not meet the income requirement & also get her brother to complete the I134 form. (Two I134 forms from two people)?????

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPROOF OF RELATIONSHIP - AFFIDAVIT

Usually you need a newer (dated) letter of intent - to go to the interview.

You can use your relationship proof you sent previously - and perhaps add some more recent things.

Thanks for your help

Must it be notorised again & must it be the original?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPROOF OF RELATIONSHIP

You can't carry a "flight", so I hope you mean boarding passes. Photos from later too would be good. An updated letter of intent would be better than one months old they already have in the file. A receipt is better evidence than an invoice. How about evidence of how you communicate on a regular basis?

Yes sorry, boarding passes is what i meant.

Does the updated letter of intent have to be the original or a copy? I am unable to get an original at this stage as my interview is on monday.

With regards to communication, i use a pre paid card from where i can send messages. I have also been buying a world chat card which is so much cheaper for me. I have emails etcetera but the phone thing might be a problem. My fiances father lives in South Africa - Johannesburg and so do i and she visits her father yearly. Surely that would be pretty good evidence that the relationship is real and valid?

Ok i am taking the following documents with me to the interview on monday.

- Affidavit/letter from my fiance and i
- Flights to and from America/South Africa from 2008- Present

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOV 2009 K-1 filers VSC

Hey there fellow VJ! Is anybody here submitted their I-129F last November 2009 at VSC and already got their NOA2? I just want to know because it's over 3 months since we send ours and no NOA2 yet. Keep me posted please...

Hi,

The processing times are at about 5 month currently, but i am sure you will be getting it soon as the 5 month thing is only a guide. Honestly it seems like it is all luck with regards to NOA2's.
We submitted our I-129F on 15 October 2009 and got our NOA2 back roughly 2 months letter.

Hang on!!!! I know it is stressful and irritating.

Hi all,

Hope you can help?
I am the beneficiary living in South Africa and my fiance is living in the U.S. We are using a lawyer to help us in the process but my worry is that my fiance is the petitioner living in the U.S and is currently in Graduate school only working when she can. Does this mean that i will not be able to enter as she is still a student?

no, it means a cosponsor may be needed, if she can not meet income requirements.

Thanks and what are the income requirements?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp need K-1 I129F INFO
Hi,

I Am a little concerned about my own K1 visa situation as i am also using a lawyer headbonk.gif so far the lawyer we are using has been really good...... Oh well lets hope for the best

According to my knowledge, the processing of the visa timeline changes periodically during the year meaning that processing times may vary at each service centre. The best thing to do is to sign up to the USCIS website and recieve information when they are dealing with your case. This is probably a good idea from an anxiety point of view.

Good luck and i'm sure it will be processed soon smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMeeting parent's Issue - K1 Visa
Hi,

I honestly don't think that this would happen. Many people have done the visa process without meeting parents etc.

I asked my lawyer if it was a problem that i have not yet met my fiance's family in America & her reply was that it was no problem. Provided you have proof of the relationship with your fiance.

Good luck

Out of interest, how do they deny people entry into the U.S. once they have the interview date, what could make them not give me the visa?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPROCEDURE AFTER I ENTER THE U.S.

1. After arrival in US, wait 7-10 days and go to SSN office and get SSN card in maiden name. The wait is to allow your entry to be updated in the USCIS computers and that takes a few days.

2. Get married!! (well before the 90 days are up)

3. Go back to the SSN office and get your name changed on the SSN card to married name. OOPS, do the honeymoon thing first! lol

4. Follow the guides and file AOS.

Thank you for your help

Well i am infact a guy so i don't think i will need to get my name changed.Must i still go to the SSN office? How and when can i apply to work?

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresusc visiting foreign fiance

hey everyone,

i read many topics in which is discussed what could happen if the foreign fiance would visit the us fiance in the u.s..i know that it is not advised but also that many people take the risk and end up not being denied. i was wondering, what if the u.s fiance visits the foreign fiance? would that also be a ''problem" or a risk? my u.s. fiance wants to come visit me in june in the netherlands, but our petition would be in process then. we actually do not want to take any risks but we just wondered if there will also be much difficulties when its the other way around. can the netherlands also "see" that our k-1 is in process?

thanks everyone, sorry if its a stupid question.

If the U.S. fiance visits the foreign fiance, it will not be a problem. I don't advise the foreign fiance to visit the U.S. fiance when the K1 process is underway. I know that people have done it but i would not take the risk.
