US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionExceptional scenario for F2A visa process.

you should email the IV Unit and ask for Vice-Consul review/oversight about this - as your wife was right at the cusp and the country workers usually get the wrong response for the emails.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionINTERVIEW DATE SCHEDULED

great questions.

some prep:

1.  call into NVC and ask what documents were sent out to the Embassy - get a supervisor !

2.  make an entire new set of all docs that were to go to NVC and hand them over with the interview.

3.  I might have missed it - but if no payment at NVC you need to pay in that country via the regular payment methods for that Embassy - so find the payment instructions and go pay if'n you need to pay.

fwiw - NVC does intake and checks for completeness.  FORMS are adjudicated at the Embassy IV Unit - not NVC - as part of the regular VISA chasing process - irrespective of any expedite request.

it's great that the fees were paid.

For clarity - ask your husband to call into NVC today and go over the questions I put in post #2, question #1.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAdministrative Processing BEFORE packet 3

hang on a mo -

on CEAC status, for Guangzhou casefiles, K-1s and paper I-130's  -

the FIRST time you see 'administrative processing' before anything else occurs -

it's the visual

that GUZ IV:

1.  has the casefile and

2.  opened the casefile and

3.  started the next round of namechecks

and this is normal.

Relax.

At this stage, you could pay the fee at CITIC bank - but remember to set up an account over at ustraveldocs.com/cn right after and input the receipt info.

not really.

since AP started -

did you:

1.  set up an account at ustraveldocs.com/cn and

2.  pay the visa application fee at CITIC bank? and then

3.  note the receipt # in your account at ustraveldocs.com/cn ?

if all 3 of those, then you can self-schedule for an appointment.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow long does it take from NVC to scheduling an interview

for now, call into NVC, get a supervisor and

ask where you are in the scheduling queue,

or if you will be scheduled during the next scheduling round.

Sorry, I mis-spoke.

Did you do EP at NVC or no?

If yes, NVC schedules the appointment.

If no, GUZ IV schedules the appointment, and they usually not schedule it fast,

as

the casefile transits into China (4 to 5 days) then sits (per treaty) in a China Customs Warehouse for 1 to 4 months,

then GUZ IV goes out to get it,

then GUZ IV opens the casefile,

then GUZ IV sets up the next appointment in the calendar for you,

then GUZ IV gives you some notice about it.

Although 'you' are an F2-something - what about yer petitioner? Did your petitioner use Electronic Processing at NVC, or no ?

If you and your petitioner NOT do EP at NVC,

then the only visual you have is at the CEAC website,

where you check it daily,

and you are looking for the first instance of 'administrative processing' in the status.

When that's the status, for the first time, GUZ IV has gone out to get the casefile, brought it back to the Consulate IV Unit, and has (at least) opened it.

USUALLY the appointment is made within a 30 day period after opening the casefile, for a date 20 to 45 days past the scheduling day.

apologies - that's not CEAC -

that's ustraveldocs.com/cn

you might want to make a CEAC account nowish.

don't know of it?  same site where the petitioner paid the fees online.

No, when using EP, NVC sets the schedule.

NO EP?  GUZ IV sets the schedule (or allows you to self-schedule at ustraveldocs.com/cn )

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIS THIS NORMAL? (merged)

usually it won't leave the IV Unit for 2 to 10 days after the 'issued' status, as it needs further work.

You could always call the CGI Stanley/ustraveldocs help line (use a telephone), punch through to get to a human (their AVR is sucky) and inquire.

Or call the CITIC Bank where you have the document delivery sheet set for, and inquire if it's there yet.

CGI Stanley/ustraveldocs website is wonky on back end data feeds - but once you read 'Origination Scan' it has left the Consulate.

I've a topic in the China Forum about this, take a look, when yer able.

Darnell, missing an important part you say? Is there anything to miss after seeing ''ISSUED'' on the website, processes almost completed. If anything was done mistakenly, I could have been called or emailed and that wouldn't have made the visa to be issued, something is just wrong at the office there, 20days after issue, still no passport! Will find all means to reach them on phone from Tuesday. Will let the petitioner call the International line given too... Thanks!

Yes, as I said, punching through the AVR, to get a Human,

is a bit tricky.

But still, you have to do it.  You gave up too early.  Bad form, IMO, as all that does is waste your time.

There are many options on the AVR, the one I used with much success is 'schedule an interview'.

Then when a human picks up the phone, tell them of the problem, ask them to look it all up in their computer system, and let them know there is something stuck on their side, or the consulate still has the visa packet,

and

you want confirmation, another lookup with possible supervisor intervention,

to

determine the exact location of the casefile and/or visa packet.

They will look up stuff in their computer system, and/or get a supervisor to find the casefile/visa packet.

It's really up to you, the success or failure of getting a human at ustraveldocs help desk.   I like the one in Guangzhou, as I called them my sunday night when they were open, and I always got to a human within 3 minutes.    Alternatively, the overseas # is open when your USCitizen Petitioner is awake, so HE could call as well.

I suggest, strongly, since 'things' are interfering with your plans, that you try and keep trying until you get a human.    Once you get a human, keep insisting on an answer, telling them that their online casefile status is wrong.

it's perfectly fine to get the medical done a month prior to the interview.

Mike - are you in/near Manila? If yes,

then you set up an ACS appointment,

and talk with a Vice-Consul there about this issue,

noting,

that usually this is not done during an ACS appointment, however,

it smells like this is what you need.

I had lived in Singapore for a year, so I'm trying to think just what you can do.

HSBC has branches in Singapore, as well as the U.S.A. Other countries, too.

They MIGHT be able to do a 'one-off' for you - it's certainly worth a try. Give em a call, see what they can do for you.
Other than that, I'm stumped (unless you have a friend in Singapore ).

it's a real PITA that you not call when I said to call.

Why? Consular Casefile Processing System disconnected from the DoS Hotline call Center on 27 January.

Now you are stuck writing longish emails via the GUZ IV email webform thingie.

Maybe.

There's been some new word about authentication of divorce decree,

where

the USA divorce decree is authenticated by the China Embassy/Consulates in the USA,

then

the entire document set will be recognized by the province marriage bureau in her province in China.

I read it on the Houston China Consulate website last year, sorry, no link.
