US Citizenship General DiscussionUS Citizen son under 18 LPR

if he qualifies for the passport (and I think he does) then he doesn't need to chase the certificate.

ya - i say get both the big passport book and the passport card - easy to carry the card in the wallet, easy to use the book to get out of the borders.

US Citizenship General DiscussionMaintaining LPR and apply for naturalization while working as a seafarer

i think if your seaman's book

lists you as a permanent resident of the usa--albeit holding a foreign passport

with the home address IN the USA -

then your domicile is officially somewhere in the USA.

as a LPR - you must declare income worldwide - the first 90 to 97 K can be exempted via form F-2555 when filing the 1040 with the IRS.

still - it's a catch-22 at least IMO.

DarnellMaleChina2014-06-02 11:37:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionMaintaining LPR and apply for naturalization while working as a seafarer

there's not that many professional usa tax preparers that are familar with the F-2555...

as to yer other bits - I dunno - worst case scenario might be that the time is uncountable - with some middle ground where it IS countable when yer on board the ship but not countable when you are back in Romania visiting folk.

I really don't know - but if the documentary evidence proves up yer legal domicile in USA - maybe that helps...  Still - I recognize fully that mostly I am clueless about this one aspect...

US Citizenship General DiscussionA decision can not be made now what is that?

variables that I've read about:

1.  IO not have your A-File during the interview

2.  IO not senior enough , a newbie, so must have supervisor oversight

3.  Backlog at that local office

4.  Final Final Namechecks not requested in a timely manner, and folk forgot about it

So, if I were in yer shoes, I'd engage the Constituent Liason at your Congressman's office (you have 3 congressmen, 2 REPS and 1 Senator) that serves as the Immigration Liason Staffer (ask who does this, via telephone); giving over a privacy release form, then

have that ILS human pound a bit with an inquiry.

Report back here, when able.

US Citizenship General Discussionwhen we eligible

if they are your children,

check out CSPA , they might be eligible immediately,.

and the endorsement stamp in the passport is all that is needed.

US Citizenship General Discussionwhen we eligible

Yes they are my children ages 11 & 3 so I should apply then when they have their GC

or you could read the statement in the CR-2/IR-2 visa inside of their passports, then seek the endorsement stamp.

CSPA is specific, has rules, and is possible it applies to you and your two children.

I suggest you study, a bit.

It isn't CSPA -- it's the Child Citizenship Act of 2000.

ah !  Thank You !    I have CSPA mixed up, and it shows.

US Citizenship General DiscussionApply for citizenship

My I-751 has just approved, and I received my 10 years Green Card on Mar 31.

My questions is when I should apply for citizenship.

It shows "Resident Since: 06/07/11" on my Green Card.

Thanks!!

studying your timeline (thanks, btw, for filling it out)

it will be

3 years after 2011-06-07, minus 90 days.

so, sometime in 2014, starting around april 8 or 9, you can file for Citizenship.

[these dates are approximate and not consider leap year or old-man-math errors]

So what's the "residence since" date on your green card  ? Please post those 6 digits, everything else is entirely irrelevant. If you got your green card in 2013, you'll be able to file for citizenship in 2016.

Yup Yup -

triage only possible

US Citizenship General DiscussionDo I need an attorney for filling for Citizenship?

with every step in this process,

we've a guide for that.

I ask that you read the guide on getting yer USCitizenship,

then after reading,

make some time to practice filling out the forms.

If, after filing out the forms, you still feel innundated by it all,

then by all means hire an immigration lawyer.   They love USCitizenship cases, as usually it's nice money for them to fill out the forms.

If'n you canna see the Guides Section here, I beg of you - ditch the handphone, come back on a PC with a real web-browser.

Suggest your brother wait it out, file a new N400.

It's only money, after all.  Still, it's good that he learned something the first time, IMO/E knowledge acquisition is NEVER free.

US Citizenship General DiscussionIs the oath ceremony required?

I think you are reading too much into my question.

some offices offer same day oath, but it's on you to dig and find out which ones. If 'that office' not offer it, then

hey ! make it an all day event, including a tailgater bbq party, pinatas (plural), and a video crew.

and do remind your husband that 'support of the Crown' includes bearing arms for the Crown.

Absolutely !

So, if you are prepping your application, be certain to include a letter of attestation about this coverage of calendar dates.

USCIS has one last chance to go over this small date range with you.

fill out yer forms today, have yer photos made today.

once at a regional passport agency, explain all, tell em you need immediate passport and yer there to pay for same hour service.

The walk-in might be troublesome, as the guards usually stop people without an appointment letter.
