I seriously answered you.

If you want to help your friend, then you should study the ROC form and assist your friend. Si

Since the divorce is finalized, this concept of 'staying married for the green card' is not even an option.

i suggest you talk with an ISO at the USCIS call center, a Tier 2 Human.

Ask specifically:  Are there any returned mail pieces on me?

and if there are, go over the proper address with the Tier 2 Human™, then ask that the returned mail pieces be sent on to you.

back at the bank, there are 'payable on death' instructions.  since it's a joint account, you could get those set and then include the printouts from the bank.

Must to go in person, however.

the reason to change?

A Majority of evidence required when filing a Removal of Conditions case

is

focused on financial co-mingling.

I'm sorry you not understand that when you filed,

but

NOW you have an opportunity to fix it.

How difficult will it be for you to obtain monthly statements from the bank and monthly invoices/statements from the phone company and your joint IRS tax returns?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRequest for 'more' evidence that we don't have. Help!

If the government wants to pay for the fees I'll be happy to refinance the house for the sole purpose of putting her name on the deed.

Some states allow for a 'side-on' deed-type to be done, similar to a warranty deed or a quit-claim deed , to add a spouse's name ONTO the property without involving the mortgage company.  Have you asked about this, back at the county recorder's office, at all?

My apologies if it seems I am beating you up about this.  There's lots you could have done, and chose to do something else.

IMO, and others, you should have started the paper trail (regardless of what it was) the moment after you were married, and kept up with the papertrail for the months and months and months prior to filing the ROC.

It's one thing to complain about the lack,

but it's another thing entirely to use the advice given

and even a bigger thing to read the guides on ROC when the first green card arrives .

ya, redoing the main deed is a problem, usually, as the mortgage company holds first lien.

So when redoing a deed, the mortgage company wants to be certain they are still listed as first lien holder,

and then usually they will say 'oh ! 2 deed holders? lets redo the mortgage for both names'

and that's a problem for someone just in the country with a freshly issued SSN and no credit history,

as it'll bump the rate and increase the monthly payment amount.

Getting a side deed added is less problematic and only requires 1 day at the county registrar's office.  Not all states allow for it, so you (O Gentle Reader) have been warned.

DarnellMaleChina2013-01-28 20:48:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhy send pictures

There's a rumor that someone has sent video of him and his wife having sex. People who send extra ####### raise the expectation and bar for everyone else. I always believe in sending them the barest and most minimum set of data/evidence they need.

I remember you bringing this up whilst you were doing NVC Doc Intake, and asking if you should send off your two sets of videos - if it would make any difference.

It's a good thing that there's no entity in this process that accepts electronic media, aye?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionVJ's Guide to Removal Of Conditions is Wrong!!

I remember reading of 3 horror stories here

where

the green card holder moved, even notified USCIS,

but the notice was sent out to the last stored address

and since the letter nix'd back?   Their official status in the USA was almost terminated due to failure to notify USCIS.

It's a mess, you betcha, this notification letter.

Why?  The worry is that the green card holder has been knocked off and replaced by a terrorist.

So if the fingerprints match, well, that's just one less thing.

for a roc receipt letter,

DarnellMaleChina2013-06-09 18:45:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHelp please? reciept recieved

Yes.

The letter, which I assume is a generic letter that they send to everyone, states that my work and travel is extend for one year.

But it also says that if my residency has been terminated, that does not apply.

Your residency has not been terminated.

But since you are having some reaction to that , please call into USCIS, get an ISO, and inquire about what's what. Don't waste time with a CSR, get an ISO asap.

I suggest she not cross the border into Mexico again after 2 June 2013 until she has the 1 year extension letter in her hand.

IIRC, that will come in 30 to 60 days after filing (but I could be wrong, it might be sooner)

Try yer hardest to get at the border control point headed north, no later than 22:00 CST on Saturday, 1 June 2013.

I say try 3 more times, contacting an ISO, throughout the week.

I've made about 14 calls into USCIS, getting an ISO, and the results have been mixed, all the way round.

see ISO - http://www.dhs.gov/f...5658440339.shtm for the general backgrounder,

and don't forget - you can always engage the Ombudsmans Office at any time.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCard issued, not received
so you had a tracking # , it was delivered (well almost) and you don't have it.

it may be that the place you receive mail knows nothing about you. If you have a mail box, or a postal box, write a name card with the names of all the folk that receive postal mail there, tape it inside the box.

It's a bit too soon, but is possible that it was returned from USPS as undeliverable, or a 'nixie' (some postal term). If that's the case, USCIS will know about it, but not the first human you talk with , the CSR. They have limited computer access.

At some point, soonish, call into USCIS, ask for an ISO (your reason being you are chasing down returned mail pieces) then when you get an ISO, here's the questions to ask:

1. my address is '234 anywhere lane, Des Moines, IA 43354' - do you show this as the current address, or no? (replace your address there)
2. do you have any returned mail pieces on me? yes? no? If yes, then
3. ask for the returned mail piece to be resent to the address that you just went over, and go over the address again.

That's it, for now.

Alternatively, you can get down to the USPS office that sorts and delivers your mail, bring the printed tracking record, and get the shift supervisor. Ask the shift supervisor (this is very important, btw, to get this human) to find your letter in the building, or give you exact record of where it went and on what days.
