Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLetter of support from friends

Does the letter of support from friends (for I-751) have to or need to be notarized? We pretty much have all other documents needed, I get various opinions as to how much these letters are needed and if they should be notarized. Thank you...

No need to be notarized. We included those with our application. They are not that hard to do, just make sure they include the information required by the instructions, and can be supported by the evidence that you submit, like maybe a picture or two of you and your spouse with them.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEarly Bio Appointment

You don't get an early one, you get what you get. But some places allow walk-ins. You need your appointment letter and ID, you go to the ASC center and ask if you can do an early walk-in. They say yes or no. If they say no it does not hurt anything you just have to go back on the given date for your appointment. It doesn't speed anything up by going early.

It helped us for ROC, but didn't seem to make a difference of filing for USC. We were already approved before our appointment date came around for ROC, but it looks like we were about normal for USC. We went the same day we got the letter in the mail both times.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEarly Bio Appointment

This is correct, except you do not even need the appointment letter, you just need the I-797C (NOA1) with your case number

Not likely. For some applicants, the number on NOA#1 is not your case number, just a receipt number, but the number on the ASC appointment letter is your case number.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionINKJET PRINTERS

I heard inkjets don't have very good resolution so the barcode doesn't scan this well, anyone else that use a canon inkjet or any inkjets?

I use my cheapo HP inkjet to print shipping labels. They scan just fine. I have printed all our immigration forms (except AOS) and passport applications on an inkjet, no problem. When we did out AOS, I used an old Laserjet II and they even accepted that no problem.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHouse quit claim deed question
I bought the house before we got married. We didn't even worry about that. We sent joint bank statements and utility bills in both names, along with joint tax returns. We sailed through the ROC process in record time with no RFE's, no interview.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhy do you have to get biometrics for ROC?
Have to keep all those ASC's in business and pay for all those fancy machines. I have never seen our local ASC "busy".

We did it. The security guard wasn't going for it this time, but when I pointed out the waiting room was empty, he relented.

It has been 2 weeks and i am still waiting our joint tax returns transcripts from IRS. We requested it online but haven't gotten anything in the mail yet. Is it normal? I ordered it today again..

They usually come within a week. Are you still living at the same address where the return was filed?

I think the returns are mailed to the current address on file, rather than the address when the return was filed.

You may be right:

We cannot process your request online if you need transcripts mailed to an address other than the one we have on file for you. To send your transcript to a different address, complete and send Form 4506-T or call us at 1-800-829-1040

The one from the NOA#1 is your receipt number, and the one from you biometrics letter is your case number. Use your case number.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionQuestion in regards Financial Situation

So are you worried about paying the $590? Your post sounds like you're more worried about having lower income when you remove your conditions.
When you file the I-751, you're providing documentation proving that you and your spouse have had an ongoing relationship for the last 2 years. I don't really think having a low income will change your approval or not. Someone else may weigh in.

Yeah, there is no obvious financial issues, although you will have to show more co-mingling of assets, and sharing a common residence, etc., beyond what you did in AOS. You will have to supply tax returns, but that is more to show proof of a continuing marriage. I suppose they might notice low income, but that is not what they are looking for.

My philosophy is that it all has to fit in an Express Mail Standard Envelope. It has worked so far, throughout the process. After she becomes a USC in the next month or two (knock on wood), then I will know that our method has been sound.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMade an infopass appointment

My husband and I made an infopass appointment to see an immigration officer. The appointment is 2 weeks away and if we hear something before that we'll just cancel it. Wonder what is taking so long. I am so frustrated now. Why does initial review take so long? I sometimes feel like they lost my file.:(:(

Will I be able to get details on my case beyond what is seen online? Please advice. Thanks.

If you fill out your timeline, we might be able to give that advise.

Will do that later. Filed for ROC on 19th nov 2010 @ at the VSC. It's been a little over five months but do not have any updates, touches etc. So worried. :(

It looks like you are not the only one: http://www.visajourn...ost__p__4623174

The infopass might be enough to rattle some cages and get things moving.

Good luck. I wish I could tell you more, but it looks like things are moving again as of last week.

I hope not. I hope they at least make a few inquiries for you.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs highligting evidence good or bad?
Never highlighted anything, but I did describe all the evidence in the cover letter and what requirement it was to support. I used the listing order in the form instructions to organize my packet, and therefore, that is how the cover letter is presented. Don't use red pen, pencil, or sharpie! That is the reviewer color for making corrections, and you will confuse the reader. Highlighting is not recommended for the same reason. Use post-its if you must. You want it easy to undo.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs highligting evidence good or bad?

Don't use red pen, Oops, I used my pink highlighter on all papers, I dont have any other :bonk: .
Use post-its if you must. After I read your comment about post-its, I found plenty of it sitting in my desk drawer. Too bad I didnt think of it earlie :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: . That is a good reference for future, thou.

Thanks for sharing, everyone!

Don't sweat it too much. As long as it is legible and meets the requirements, you should be okay. The one thing they do emphasize is to make it easy to disassemble. I can imagine some horror stories where somebody went overboard, and it doesn't fit the file format the USCIS is using. I know they top punch everything and use standard folders to hold the file.

Hello fellow May 2010 filers! I'm preparing our materials now. (I'm the USC.) And I'm just wondering what you guys think about our evidence. I am sending:

Our joint bank account and 2 joint credit cards
Tax returns for 2007 and 2008
Joint ownership of an apartment
Photos together over the past 2 years
Our daughter's birth certificate

I'm also trying to find copies of our health insurance from 2009, which was a family plan. And also a life insurance plan I got, with my wife as the principle beneficiary.

Any other thoughts?

I'm planning on sending over the weekend.

Good luck everyone!

How about a 2009 tax return? You can expect an RFE if you don't send it with your application.

better start photocopying all my evidence  (do they need to be certified copies?)

sorry.. we did DCF and have never filed with USCIS before so this is all new to me

haha i like your answers :)

and how should I organize my paperwork? I'm guessing no staples or paperclips... but would say a big bulldog clip to hold everything together be ok?

i sound like such a noob :(

As the guide says, "The application should be easy to take apart. No heavy staples, please. Top punching is appreciated."

We cut down a manila folder to fit in an Express Mail cardboard envelope, and top punched everything but the check. We put it all together with an ACCO fastener, with the cover letter on top, followed by the application, and the evidence in the order listed on the coversheet. The pictures went to the back of the file. We used two paper clips to hold the check to the application.

I figured if I did it wrong, someone would come by and fix it. :star:

Should I reedit it again to fix the format for you?

I have recived NOA of my I-751. I just want to know if everyone's NOA looks same as what I have received. Please have take a look and give me comments. Also I'm confused on the last paragraph asking the list of copy of documents. We don't have any child and also we are living on my brother house but I have submit copy of my 2009 tax return and join medica ins. My question is does this letter asking additional document??? I have checked the status with my receipt number (uscis.gov) and no data has found... is this normal process??

Thanks in advance.

Looks just like ours. If they need more info, they will send an RFE. Think "co-mingling of assets". As long as everything that is his is hers and everything that is hers is hers, you should be okay.

The receipt number won't work for updates. Wait until you get your ASC (Bio) appointment letter to be able to check online.

Hey March filers. Our information is in the signature. Please update. We are at CSC. Thanks!

I have a question. Since we received the biometrics notice, I thought we were supposed to be able to check our case status online. I plug in the application number from the biometrics notice and it's not pulling up anything. It says our case is not in the system. Any thoughts? Does it take a couple of days even after you get the biometrics appointment notice before it gets entered into the system?

Thanks for responses!!

Check the number. It should begin with WAC or EAC, and is the one on the ASC Appointment letter. Leave out the dashes. If it still doesn't work, call the number listed on the website.

ok, my NOA date is March 5 instead of march 15 (date i received the letter).. so far, haven't heard anything about my biometrics and i'm getting a little bit worried..

California is being real slow. It took us three weeks to get the biometrics letter.
