My status (I think from memory) went from
saying "ready" both before and after my interview to the update dated today of "administrative processing". Don't know if for me that is a good or bad sign!

What did your status say before it was "Ready"?

Hey PG & JW,

Thanks for the info! :) Just checked my status and it has been updated today too, yay! Does yours say "Administrative Processing"?

Checking my email/mailbox every 10 minutes has become an ingrained habit. Has anyone who had their K1 visa approved around Dec 24th received their visa yet? :)

Australia and New ZealandConfusion with visa payment and needing an extension... Please help!

Great! Very helpful, thank you bunches. I have also received that same email yesterday.

One more question you may be able to assist me with, with the i-134 form, they request "original" copies, do I need to have my fiance send me via mail the form with his signature on there? How did you present these documents? (bank statement/cover letter from his work/latest tax return)

You are so helpful I cannot thank you enough! I've just read your interview.. WOW! Congratulations to you and your fiance, all the hard work has paid off and I wish you both the best! When do you get to leave Australia?

I have prepared packet 3 this evening and will be posting this via express tomorrow, thank god I decided to get on here and ask for help.

With the DS-160, is it only the confirmation page which I'm sending with packet 3?

And the DSL-1076, this is page 6 "Applicants Statement of Readiness of be Interviewed" along with the completed checklist?

I'm booked in with Dr. Waks on Monday 13th of Jan, very glad to hear they are great, that has put my mind at ease.

Right, this certainly shines some light onto everything for us. I received packet 3 in late October and was just going by the initial email instructions in packet 3 by doing the DS230 as it says. I have also completed DS-160 so I guess I will be more than safe lol...

Great, so can I send off packet 3 without the medical results for now? What does "sent direct from PP" stand for?

I hope all went well with you're interview?? You have been most helpful goofy.gif

Australia and New ZealandConfusion with visa payment and needing an extension... Please help!

Hi All!

My fiance is in Baltimore Maryland and I am currently in Sydney, Australia, our approval notice is due to expire on the 22nd January. My medial examination is on the 13th of January which is the medical center earliest convenience for me. We will definitely need an extension on our case as I cant see us fitting in the interview and packet 4 within in a week.. I have called some weeks ago the support team which were not very helpful, one gentleman of which gave me a wrong email and had me waiting for weeks!! I have now emailed sydneyIV@state.gov - can anyone verify if this is the way to go?

I am also a little confused with the visa payment, I have read on some timelines that we pay for the visa on the day? but the person I spoke with mentioned I had to pay for the $240 online?? Can someone shine some light onto this for me as well? headbonk.gif

One more... with packet 3.. I have sent off DS-230 as requested as soon as I received packet 3, I did not get any verification that this was received.. Is this normal? sad.png

Thanks guys.. look forward to your responses

justine, i'm glad things are happening for you! Is there someone you could email to find out where the interview is? $35 is a lot better than $500! If we weren't broke enough from all the travelling over the last 3 years, we certainly will be after this whole visa business is done with! Do your folks even know that you're planning on coming to America? btw...Russell and I were thinking you and Jordan should have a photoshopped image of you both together. laughing.gif Let us know if we can help you with that.

emma&sammy.. great to see you here. smile.gif You guys seem to be in that last lot of older petitions at VSC! Makes you wonder just how they're getting things done over there. Not too fair with all these January filers being approved but i'm sure your time is just around the corner. I hope you can take some comfort in that and in the fact that the NZ consulate is so effecient. Where will you be in the U.S. once you're here? I'm in Massachusetts.

Kel, nice to see you. I'm not sure if the consulate works at the same pace for the CR-1's (would imagine so) but if they do you should be hearing from them very soon. Did you put your house on the market yet?

Hi Mark, nice to see you over here too! I'm so excited for those of you who are so close to 'the end' of this, the most arguous, process of it all! You also look like you're about 'ready to pop' out of the CSC very soon! We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for you! Are you, or your SO in Chicago? Good to know i'm not the only one freezing my @ss off!

btw..any of you lived anywhere else for 6+ months and need a police clearance from that country? Russell worked in Australia for close to a year and we were wondering if the NZ consulate would handle that police clearance as well.

I'm not sure if he will need a police clearance, I lived in the UK for 9 months and the longest I stayed in the US at one time was 9 months, so i'm not sure if I need to get police clearances for either of them? I'm going to call the AKL embassy tomorrow so will let you know.

Yes I believe it is for married couples as well, I even saw a directive to the consulates saying it was not to be used for K1 Visa's.  Hopefully they will get back to me soon and let me know if it is actually required or not.  Thanks for your advice I appreciate it.

I was under the impression it was not needed either until they added it to my requirements lol.  I think they have done it just to send me into a panic.  I have emailed them for confirmation but can't understand why they would say I needed it.  Just trying to confuse me I think.  This is what they sent me.

The following items are required before your visa can be issued. Please refer to the list below of items that will be required on the day of your interview.

P             Form DS-260 ; Online Immigrant Visa Application

Please print the confirmation page to submit on the day of the visa interview.

P            Form DS-160Non-immigrant Visa Electronic Application.

Please print the confirmation page to submit on the day of the visa interview.

Hey everyone,

I am a newbie posting here but I have been following most of you since my application arrived in Sydney.  I have a question for those of you who have received Packet 4.  Were you required to fill out form DS-260 and take the confirmation sheet with you as well as the DS-160.  It is on the list of requirements I have been given for my interview and is confusing the hell out of me.  Thanks for your help.

We're looking at about a 50-60 day avg to NOA2 at VSC right now (laughing.gif sounds like i'm talking in code!). Most January/February filers were approved in a month but they're just working on clearning the second half of March out now, so it's longer but still fairly quick. It's been 5 weeks today that we sent off our petition! Time has really flown! I'm hoping we see our approval in the next few weeks then Russell will do all he can to rush the consulate so he can be here asap. No house to sell, no great job to leave... as we did that years ago. sad.gif We just need that lovely little stamp that allows him back into the country...for good! smile.gif

Do you guys know if he can schedule his medical as soon as we have our new case number from the NVC or do we need to wait for p3?

Kel, sad you're leaving but I suppose there is a certain comfort in knowing it wont be much longer! I do hope your home sells quickly (and for more than you're asking laughing.gif) and that you're back 'home' in the U.S. ASAP!

Welcome Michelle (& rob). Sorry you're having to leave soon,... boy, we know about that! sad.gif I'd have all the papers filled out and just dont sign or date them until you know you're 'legal'. Be sure he makes copies of everything so that once you're approved here he can send you the exact duplicate of the package. Have you filed for your divorce yet? I too had to be divorced before I could file for Russell to come back home (to the u.s.). After a 10 year relationship, 1 1/2 years of living together abroad/US... he was denied entry on his last visit in. We then had to wait 7 months for my divorce to go through...(ex dragged his feet). sad.gif Anyway, we filed 5 weeks ago and are awaiting our NOA2 now from VSC! The good news is the Auckland consulate is very efficient! wink.gif

Kel, when are you heading back to nz???

cdneh, glad your got your petition off finally! Did you get your NOA1 yet?

Of course there is always the possibility of being denied entry but as you are not coming with the intention of 'marrying' per se' ..you are just taking important things with you as you will be out of your country for so long.. I don't think it will be a problem to put it in your luggage. Probably wouldn't carry it with my hand luggage tho. wink.gif Might be safer sending it. gnomegirl... lol maybe I should have said 'recent' husband. my bad! wink.gif thanks for the congrats.

Thank you Gay (dbears) I really appreciate your support. smile.gif

Thanks kel... hope everything else is going smoothly for you too.

Well, like my sweets stated... we've finaly got the paperwork sent yesterday and i'm stoked about that! It was no easy task though! Some of you know that i've already waited years for my ex to sign the divorce agreement. Russell being booted from the country...etc. Well if that wasn't enough... I had everything scanned in, forms filled out...etc all stored on my hard drive for months now. Just waiting to be printed up and organized into the packet. Well, after printing off all our pictures and a few other things on Sunday I went to reboot and windows wouldn't load. It was late and because I work with computers I thought 'no big deal' I will finish up tomorrow... yes well, turns out my hard drive failed and I couldn't get to any of it. After diagnosing the problem, I didn't have time to see if I could copy the drive over and had to get on another computer at home and scan and print everything again. Needless to say, I was up pretty late getting that all done. On top of that, I had 4 calls into registrar of deeds office to make sure I could pick up my decree yesterday....with no call back. I decided I'd take the 1/2 hour drive into the city and drop in to see if I could get it anyway. When I got there I was sent to an entirely different building...where I was sent back to the same place I started!! At this point all I could do is shake my head. Anyway, I got it! From that moment on nothing else seemed to matter and I was all smiles! smile.gif I spent about 40 minutes in line at the post office and sent the package overnight. As soon as I got into my office I had a call from the registrar's office.... my decree was ready to be picked up! I just had to laugh!

So the package was very well organized and very throrough, with tabbed off sections and I went over everything twice but I still worry because of the loss of all my previous information and the mad rush in which I put it together again. It still feels really good to have it done and to be in the waiting game. I know for many this is the part they stress about most and maybe after a few weeks of waiting we'll get there too ...but for now, we're just so happy to be on to the next chapter. smile.gif

Thanks for all your support. Knowing we're not alone in this has helped make the process to get to this stage more bearable.

Hi Guys,

first off this isn't kim, its her ....i'd like to say significant other, whistling.gif

shes out celebrating and having a well deserved drink right now so i figured i would be the one to fill you guys in because really i am just so 'chuffed' kicking.gif

we filed today, well she did as she did most of the work, she sent it by courier and should be there at VSC at 3 pm tomorrow to be added to the top of the pile of a box where it will be the first to be reviewed and accepted (asking too much? after 10 years of waiting i dont think so innocent.gif )

everything going well i could be there in as little as two months, at this stage we really aren't waiting around for anything, any form that needs to be filled out is being filled as we get it and sent the same day, some people would say impatient, i would have to agree with them but the time apart is really dragging out and i miss her damnit tongue.gif

i am sure kim will fill you in on the specifics if you have any questions you need to ask tongue.gif i will be lurking around as normal

i hope everything is going well for you all, believe me when i say i know how stressful all this can be, just remember the light at the end of the tunnel

luv

Thank you Gnome girl! You needed your new husbands paystub? Or your ex husband for proof of child support? We're K1...so my info still goes to Auckland for Russell to take with him. I'll be sending along lots of copies of checks. wink.gif

Justine! You have a date!!! That's wonderful news. How great of your parents to help you out with their points too. I know how expensive it is to fly domestic in NZ! Sorry Jordan will be so busy when you get there but I really dont think it's going to matter too much! wink.gif btw..did you get my last email?

Kel...I see ya lurking! wink.gif Did you get your house sold yet?

Well, if you can believe this, I have three calls into the registrar of deeds last week to confirm that I can go pick up my divorce decree from the courthouse tomorrow and still no call back! I am legally divorced as of today and a couple months ago he told me to call back to confirm I could get my certified copy as early as 'the next day'. If I don't get a call back today i'm not going to be happy. I've been patient enough! I printed out almost everything I need all day yesterday. 10 years worth of 'everything'! Had just a few things left....when I got an error, tried to reboot... and got a bios error on startup! It's just my luck! Good thing I fix computers! wink.gif

So, today promises to be crazy. Tomorrow all I want is to watch my bank account drop! wink.gif

cdneh... are your papers here in the US yet?

Mark, are you home in NZ yet??

How are you other folks doing?

K, so I have a couple questions for you guys...

1.) what does the NZ consulate ask for in regards to the affidavit of support? I'm self employed (build, design, maintain websites, fix computers, tech support...etc). I'm always busy but I work for a lot of different people and my income varies greatly from week to week...and ummm I only claim what I have to...and therein lies my issue. wink.gif I do have a couple company's I work for daily who pay me with company checks (no paystubs..but I can get copies of my cashed checks from that employers bank if I need to). This is only about 10-20,000 a year but it's money I have to claim, therefore it's on my tax returns the last three years. I know that is not enough for a family of 4 but I also receive child support that was ordered by the court last December. That, in itself, is about $10,000 more than what is needed for a family of 4 so I know i'm set as long as I include that. But i'm wondering if they have specific policies regarding the affidavit of support and what is needed.

I'm thinking i'll make copies of my checks each week or maybe wait till they're cashed and get them from the employers bank(?), include at least one employer letter proving about 15,000 of my annual income, my court papers ordering child support...bank statements showing the money is going into the account bi-weekly... tax returns from 2 or 3 years? Anything else?

2.) i'd like to know if your visa's are available for pick up two days after you are approved as has been the case with most (here anyway) that have gone through Auckland?

Still waiting on a call back from the registrar of deeds to confirm that I can pick up my divorce decree on Tuesday as he previously stated. I will not be happy if we are made to wait any longer due to even mnore bureaucracy!!!
