Kelvan: I have found the opposite.. I have found that it is going too fast for me since approval wink.gif *Generally* your SO will receive notification via snail mail of your approval from uscis and then shortly afterwards you may receive a letter from NVC giving case number etc and saying that your petition will be forwarded to the appropiate visa issuing post where the visa interview will take place. The petition usually takes about 4 days for it to arrive at Auckland from NVC(when nvc mails it out)

In our case, the embassy received the petition on a Friday and we received packet 3 from them on the Tuesday. I immediately phoned docs for medical on that same day and managed to get appointment on the Thursday.

Meanwhile, your fiance will have to send you things that will be needed. 1-134 form (notarized), letter from his employer, pay stubs, tax transcript, birth certificate ( my SO didn't want to send his 'original' one (even though its not the true original ) so he got it photocopied and notarized (not sure if that will help or not lol), photocopy of the NOA2, letter of intent. (Apologises if i have forgotten anything. this is off the top of my head star_smile.gif )

I had a second copy of the 1-129f package, so he didn't have to send one to me. So getting those things from your SO can take time for sure. As i said, the process was going a little too fast for me, so was glad to have a breather while he got the documents together. They arrived today (except for tax transcript. he is still waiting for that) so i will send packet 3 back to the embassy tomorrow (have to send back to them forms DS-230 pt 1, DS-156 (filled out online, as a barcode is added to the form and then printed out), DS-156k, application form for NZ police certificate, photo copy of valid passport biographic data pages, and 2 additional passport photos (as well as ones needed for DS-156 form) and appointment form.

Once the embassy receives packet 3 from you, then i think they make an appointment for interview. Hope others here (who have got the K1 visa) can tell you more about the process after NOA2 smile.gif

Cheers for that! I just read that out to Evan over the phone and we have a good idea now of what to expect! Seems like a lot of work to do still but we will get through it.

Thanks guys! My friend just went through the process and is finally ready to leave. She got her visa issued on Monday (she first applied for the K1 in February). So I heard it takes a while to do the second part of the stuff, letters, forms, medical exams, interviews etc. What exactly happens now and how long will it take?

In San Francisco I can think of 10 or so places offhand you can find it. You can even find it in standard grocery stores. (usually in the british foods section)

There are a number of places online you can order it too, like:

just been looking over this site. They have vegemite for $6.99 (picture on main page) as well as other things like cadbury roses for $1.99 (from UK). I found the site to be quite interesting. And they seem to have shops right around the USA!! star_smile.gif

I will have to have a look at that today if there is a slow time at work. :-)

cdneh- I am sorry to hear that you are still in AP :-( Keeping my fingers crossed for you. There are still a few more days before Christmas and hopefully you will receive some good news soon.

For everyone else CONGRATS! everything seems to be happening at once for everyone. You may all meet up on the interview dat in Auckland!

My hubby and I are in Vermont and the weather has been nuts here like Kim mentioned. We are supposed to be getting a hug storm tonight. I am hoping the ski fields get dumped on and that there will be snow for a white Christmas. Kim hope life is returning back to normal in mass and that you only receive snow and not ice this storm!

Congrats Michelle! So glad it came through before Xmas for you.

I do miss my vegemite. Everytime I go to the supermarket I just stare at the shelves with all the jams in dismay. Plus, the peanut butter is sweet! I did find an unsweetened, salted kind at Trader Joes, thankfully, not quite the same as ETA back home, but it'll do.

My husband hated the Peanut butter here. We finally found some at Price chopper. It's orgainic and unsweetened. It is expensive but worth it not to hear him winge about the pb being too sweet.

Michelle glad you are moving forward. I know it has been a long wait but it must be great to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

You have to be semi insane to live in the Northeast really. Luckily up here in Burlington VT it is supposed to be all snow and it actually looks like it has stopped. The summer make it worth it though. Warm and there are so many rivers and lakes to swim in. Plus the scenery isn't too bad.

The snow and ice can be a pain but I guess when you're born here it's just the 'norm'. I dont mind really. I love the change of seasons, the spring is like a rebirth every year, summers are glorious... and the fall is just breathtaking. I even enjoy the snow...good for skiing and ....playing (yes, I still play in the snow :lol) oh and and for snuggling. wink.gif The ice is just treacherous!

I don't think there's anywhere in the US that doesn't have it's faults... Southern Cali has fantastic weather but awful fires. Hurricane's in the south and tornadoes in the mid-west... take your pick. laughing.gif

cdneh, here's hoping for great news today!

Silly question time Kim...nothing seems to be going out of DHL at the moment...and now that it's the new year, I have to change what I enter under reference right?

2008A becomes 2009A?

right! wink.gif Hopefully they're not 'on' to us and changing how they do things! Otherwise, we'll have some work to do to figure out how they track them now. laughing.gif

It sounds like the Embassy in AUK is as helpful as always. I know they can issue an inquiry to NVC and specifically ask for the file to be sent. That is what someone from one of my 'many' phone calls to NVC stated. Perhaps that's what they're saying... I certainly hope so! Enough is enough. Do something kind for YOU and try your best to keep your spirits up until then. smile.gif

Ivanna, I'm not really clear on what you're asking. As long as you each filled out a I-134 with employment info and anual income, and both included supporting evidence of income (tax papers, paystubs, letter from employers) you should be all set. If your uncle meets the minimum requirement for supporting your fiance he will not need bank statements or proof of assets.

Another ice storm going on outside right now. Oui, winter in New England! wacko.gif

Yeah, I did mean you. smile.gif I know it's hard to hold on to any sense of hope at this point and that your mind scrambles for other options (& plan B's wink.gif). I was there after only 3 weeks and thought i'd lose my mind...and i'm a pretty patient person. You're so right, it's the unknown that makes you nuts. If it's any consolation at all, neither of us have anything at all in our pasts to warrant any special checks either. I have to believe that they are either adding checks to the NVC stage and/or have created such a backlog..then with the holidays...etc. Whatever it is, I am still pulling for you!

KimandRuss: thanks for info about the tb test. I have been reading other threads concerning this, hoping that i will see someone that has been approved/RFE concerning the 1-693 form/aos and whether to test or not to test but so far i don't think anyone has any response from uscis. Hope you will let us all know how you get on when you do file for aos. Have you decided yet if you will just send in the form for aos with the vaccination sheet enclosed (from medical in Auckland) and not bother with getting a tb test done?

I think we'll stop at the health dept and try to send along the TB test with the papers ...and see if we can't get away with not having the CS sign off on the form..... mostly because we've held off so long and 'some' do get through without it. The good news is that AP & EAD are issued without the test. wink.gif

You have to be so sick of hearing 'it will come' sad.gif .... all I will say is that i'm still thinking of you every day and hoping you hear some good news soon. The one good thing is that you are already so prepared it's likely to be a VERY quick turnaround for interview... was less than a week for us once we knew it was heading over. In fact, he was told that the hardcopy reached NZ just the day before he was interviewed. wink.gif

Ana.. i'm embarrassed to say that no, we haven't yet sent out the packet. We were procrastinating then waiting to see if our fellow filers were going to get RFE'd for the TB ...then came the Holidays... blink.gif No excuse, we really must get it out this week as he's already out of status. I know several people who simply supplied their vaccination worksheet with the I-693 top portion and without a CS signing off on it. EAD and AP have been issued but they are still awaiting GC.

A CS wont sign off on TB as it's not on the worksheet and most panel physicians overseas aren't up to speed yet with the TB. It's a mess!!! To be 100% sure, you can have a TB test through the health dept for free, have the CS sign off on the vaccination worksheet (there's a doc in TX that will do it for like $20 so dont pay more) and send that form along with the results of the TB. Nobody's on the same page yet but that seems to be the scenario that works.

good luck.

Happy New Year to you all!!!

Michelle, just to reiterate, it's the I-134 he needs to fill out for the Embassy not the I-864. The I-864 will come at adjustment time. wink.gif

ivanna, you need I-134 and supporting docs for both yourself and your co-sponsor. Being self-employed still means you submit tax transcripts but they must include your 1099 and schedule C I believe it is. It doesn't matter that you filed with your ex ...I did as well. wink.gif If you have records, you need to submit them or explain why you did not file.

cdneh, yes...there will be an end. wink.gif Here's hoping you hear something any day now!

Dave and Genna... congratulations!!!
1) just 1 year's tax transcripts usually. If you find you need more you have only to call the IRS and have them send you transcripts. It's a free service and only takes a matter of days. I don't have the # but if you do a VJ search you're bound to find it. wink.gif
2) Auckland will do your NZ police certificate but if the beneficiary has lived anywhere else for over 6 months since the age of 16 you will need to obtain that one from that Country. Each Country is different in how they handle this process.
3) As long as you have all of your paperwork in order you should have no problems at Auckland, they are very helpful and fair.

Kim & Chris, your K-1 visa is valid for 6 months, since your visa was issued in November, that sounds like that is the the May 1st date you see on your visa. Because you've already used it to enter the Country, the date means nothing. Your I-94 should have a date as well... 90 days from entry....so February 28th or so? Perhaps the POE stamped it incorrectly but as long as you marry before that 90 days is up (end of Feb) you're all set.

We had a wonderful first Christmas together and we are now looking forward to our second New Year's celebration. smile.gif

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

What a wonderful idea!!! good.gif This thread is around 67 pages now and it can take a while to wade through all the posts to find the information. I wrote down relevant things down on a writing pad from this thread and it was very helpful for me especially when i went for the medical ( best doctor to see, price of medical, where the lab and xray place was located from the doctors etc) Knowing these things beforehand makes the process a little less stressful!

And reading the reviews of the interviews are a great help too! I will be going for mine this week and it's great to know where the parking is allocated and that there is a post shop and coffee place nearby the embassy etc. so your idea of putting useful information on a blog is just GREAT!! yes.gif

I know ..I mean I reread your post about the medical just before I left the house, made it so much easier to find and good to know what happens in advance. Takes the worry out of it all.

Be sure to post a review! I won't be too far behind you..I hope !

hi all,
package three arrived, lol, a few questions......if he cant find proof of all his vacinations..does that mean he has to have them all over again?
he called the medical center in nz and they told him it depends on his blood test from the medical. can they tell from that if he requires the vacinations.
one more question...on the form DS230 part II ...what is done with this... you mail part I...cant find what you do with II.. on the DS 156 it askes..
do you plan on working in the us? well, of course...but there is not an empoyer he can put? he hasn'd found a job yet...and when do plan on arriving in the
US... how does he know when we dont even know when the interview is or when the visa is granted... another... how long do you intend to stay int he us..well forever of course....
... but...are these question to be answered like on a 90 day visa.
help!!

I didn't have any records either. I had my doctor give me a form for Medlab, requesting testing for the vaccinations you have to have. They ran a titer test and I only needed the one shot. Tetanus. This way, you haven't got to have a lot of unnecessary shots..it can get expensive. The tetanus at Dr Stone's was something like $40, but my own Dr only charged me $5.

If he hasn't got records, he may have to get them all again at the medical.

kim & chris....
thank you so much for that....puts my mind at ease.. he is in hamilton, but will go to dr stone in remuera.. already called but was told to call back on wednesday...
dang! oh well... still moving along good...do you know about the police certificate? IT STATES : POLICE CERTIFICATE FROM ALL PLACES YOU LIVED FOR A YEAR SINCE AGE 16..
is this just from nz or each town? does he just fill it out and they get it or does he have to get it himself? lol...its hard for me to try to tell him what to do...
ty so much again!

The NZ consulate gets the NZ police clearance. They don't have certificates. They won't accept one that you get yourself. In packet three there is paperwork to fill out and submit so they can get the clearance for him.

One for NZ, not one for each town in NZ. One for any country he has lived in for more than 6 months since he was 16.

Wow amaciar! It's a good thing we are dealing with such an efficient Embassy!

cdneh, I know you're probably ready to kill somebody and are trying to keep away from anything related to this but I just wanted you to know i'm still thinking of you and hoping you have good news soon. I'm sure we'll all be able to 'see' the relief pouring over you once it's finally in NZ ...then you can start laughing about how little time you really have to get everything ready. laughing.gif

7 weeks today, and we just got off the phone with NVC. Still in AP. They say they will send a letter to that effect.

We can expect THAT letter to arrive in 2 -4 weeks. sad.gif

Do something kind for YOU and try your best to keep your spirits up until then. smile.gif

Another ice storm going on outside right now. Oui, winter in New England! wacko.gif

It works fine, now that they are all back from holiday and back to work and all. Short list today, and nothing for us. I'll email them in AKL on Sunday night to let them know to follow it up.

Still in AP as of tonight. Tomorrow makes seven weeks.

I can send you a little heat if you like to melt a bit of that ice...I was on night shift last night, so sleeping today. When I got up just now the flatmate has been out all day and the house was all shut up and it is stifling ..opened every door and window to get some air moving.

heh...did you mean me?

I thought you might have..lol...I seem to be the only one here with issues. wink.gif

It is enought to try the patience of a saint really. I emailed the consulate here this morning, and they got right back to me with this:

We have not yet received your case file, but received four others today, so maybe there was a delay in processing. Ya think????
If we don't get it by next week we will follow it up for you. Please remind us on Monday. Oh..you can bank on that one!

Not that I know what 'follow it up for you' translates to in actual action, but it's more than we hear from NVC.

Still there as of right this minute.

I dont think I'd worry Michelle...I mean in order to move countries you kind of have to quit right?

cdneh- My husband and I also thought of the Canada route and just as I was getting frustrated enough to investigate it everything fell into place. We also thought about England but it seemed even more of a hassle then US immigration. For me not for him. I keep cheking and hoping to see that your package is in NZ. I can't imagine the frustration of finally hitting NVC and having this happen. Keep strong. It will be worth it when it is all said and done. Even though all said and done seems likes forever away!

Well one thing at least with Canada....they have to take me yes.gif

Thanks for that, and I do appreciate all the support. It's just hard to keep your chin up now and then.
