I'm really hoping you will get word soon on your approval! Remember that vermont has been very unreliable lately with posting approval notices on their website. Your SO may get a NOA2 in the mail without you knowing beforehand of your approval!!! so fingers crossed!! smile.gif It would be awesome if they could get cracking and get a HEAP of approvals out before Christmas!!

Oh it won't be long Michelle! It will turn up in Rob's letterbox one day without warning....and then all the people you work with will get to see this... kicking.gif

We have the snail mail letters from NVC..one to say they have the case, and the other says that "within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place."

I guess I can keep an eye on the DHL site next week ...I've had such a lot of practise with Igor's list yes.gif

My SO got 2 letters from nvc today and they were sent on the 24th and 25th, so our package may be sent out next week.. hopefully.. star_smile.gif

This is very very exciting!!!! I'm really hoping that we both hear news from embassy VERY soon!!! yippee!!! biggrin.gif

Oh it is... I guess it will soon be time to start haunting the letterbox ...

I too have been reading posts and catching up on what everyone's been up to. Good to see things moving for some of you and I'm sure things won't be far off for the rest good.gif

I've been here in the States for about a week now and have really spent most of that time catching up on sleep and trying to get rid of the sinus infection I had for about a week before I travelled. I def do not recommend flying with bad sinus, but when you've been waiting all that time, nothing was going to stop me no0pb.gif

The trip was pretty uneventful. I bought a one way ticket with Air Tahiti with a connection on NWA to Memphis. It worked out to be the cheapest option. $1669 all up. I did contemplate an open return ticket but to me it was more important to spend less right now and have more in the bank to live on for the next few months till I can work.

The flight leaves at 3pm and it's a 5hr trip to Tahiti. Once there you leave the plane via the old fashioned airplane stairs, and then walk across the tarmac to the main building. Even at 9pm Tahiti time, stepping out of the plane was like walking into a sauna. The main building is all open and only has ceiling fans so there's no respite there wacko.gif You line up to have your passports inspected and then go around the corner and get on board a different plane for the rest of the 8hr flight to LA. All in all we were lucky to have been there for not much more than 30 mins.

Once we landed at LA I decided not to try and keep up with the hoards charging off for customs and immigration. I made that mistake last time I did this trip as I only had a 2hr window for my connection, (which I missed coz the flight was late leaving Auckland), and I felt like I'd just run a race....all hot and bothered.
The good thing with Air Tahiti leaving Auckland at 3pm instead of Qantas that leaves at 7pm is that it arrives in LA at 8.15am, giving a 4hr 20min window to get all the POE sorted and still get my connection.......so I let the hoards pile on the first bus across the tarmac to POE and sat quietly with the remaining straglers in the 2nd bus that was waiting for the crew.
By the time we got over to POE everyone else had processed and I was as fresh as a daisy, well almost....lol. I waltzed straight through POE with the guy just asking the odd question in conversation while he opened the MBE, took my finger prints and took my photo. Barely took 5mins kicking.gif
I nipped around to terminal 2 with my bags and checked them in, then with 3hours or so to spare I sat myself down out in the LA morning sunshine to enjoy the fresh air after all the hours couped up on the plane. Everything else went without a hitch and the flight was even a bit early getting in to Memphis where Chris was waiting for me blush.gif heart.gif I was the most wonderful thing to fall into his arms again wub.gif

And that was my trip. smile.gif

I do have one question for Kim (Kim and Russ) though.

I asked the officer at POE which USCIS office my paperwork will be sent to as per the instructions, but all he told me was that they will be sent to the main POE sorting office there in LA and will be forwarded on from there. Even asking again saying that I'm supposed to find out at POE and why... got the same reply, which I'm assuming meant he had no idea.

So now I'm a bit worried about where to send the AOS paperwork to. Is there some other way of finding out at all?

Kiwiana: I packed my x-rays in my check in luggage, could be wrong but as far as I am aware they're not needed at POE and I wasn't asked for them at all.

Well I guess my next move is to plan a wedding, which is something we never gave much thought to earlier as there was so much else to sort out.....and to get my SSN sorted out next week.

I'm loving the cooler weather too, even spring was getting too hot for me at home and I am indeed hoping for some snow around christmas time. We've already reached today's high of 3deg and the overnight low is supposed to be -5 laughing.gif

It's been a journey but it's been well worth it.... smile.gif

Thats wonderful that you got to the states just in time for xmas! =)

I had another question for people. Was wondering if I did got to NZ until my so can come back to the states if it'd be a problem form wise. Like after the noa2 will i need to fill out any more forms?

cdneh... i'm sorry sweetie. We know just how you feel! We weren't told immediately that we were in AP either and we received two different letters stating it would be sent ...never did get the one that said it was. wink.gif All those packages we saw leave for NZ, I called every time only to be dissapointed. The petition is not lost... nvc just has no way of telling you why it was held up. The good news is that in all the research i've done and people i've asked, the security checks done at NVC don't seem to hold you up too long. We were only there for three weeks...still no clue why. There is nothing at all on either of our records... no common names... no idea. I know it's difficult but get everything settled that you can now, including your medical. When it finally does arrive they will be all ready to schedule your interview. Russell was actually interviewed before others who were actually approved before us because of our stubborness and effeciency. wink.gif You're almost there hon. Soon....none of this bs will matter.

I am trying not to let it get to me Kim, but failing quite miserably.

She told him when he asked that she could not locate the case, that she could not tell him where it is. I don't know how this happens, how you misplace a thing like that.

I won't do the medical until I hear. They refused to send me packet three when I emailed them the new case number, although they have done so in the past, so perhaps they knew, as we did not, that we were delayed, and why. I don't want a medical report turning up there with no case to attach it to given the circumstances.

Once they get back to me I'll go to Remmers...it's easier. Is this the same Dr Stone as Russ? It's from the Embassy info page...

AUCKLAND:
Dr. Daniels (09) 524 6504 320 Remuera Rd, Remuera
Dr. Stone (09) 520 1565 377a Remuera Rd, Remuera

O.o after reading some of your posts on things getting lost/delayed, I am worried more now lol. Still no noa2 yet but it's to be expected since we're september filers.

I came on here to ask something tho. I know it can be a problem if my so comes to the us too often but what about if I go to nz? Do you think that will have any delay on the application? Also, anyone know any good, cheap places to stay for 3 months or so? lol.

Kiwiana: We had our interview 2 weeks after we sent in our paperwork. We stressed out a bit because we thought we would have 3-4 weeks to finish accumulating our information. It all came together in the end though even though my husbands medical arrived 2 hours after our interview!!! whistling.gif I was worried they would tell us to go away and come back when we had everything done but they just kept Nics passport and stamped it as soon as they received the medical info.

What are you plans? When is the soonest you could fly to the states? Good luck just a little longer to stress out til you get to be with your honey!

I'm such a slack bunny not updating, but in my defense, it's taken a while to catch up with hubby and his lot after being separated for 20 months!!

Anyway, we're all settled in to the new house, the kids are in school (only part time, going for their GED's) and things are pretty good. I'm very grateful to be heading in to winter ... it was averaging around 45 degrees (celsius) when we first arrived. That's painful for most New Zealanders, but for a Southland girl? LOL.

My experience at the POE was interesting. We were held up there for close to 3 hours, just waiting and waiting and waiting. One of my teenagers is a smoker, as am I, so you can imagine the thin ice we were skating on! Anyway, we were told to go in to the visitors line (I did try and argue with the lady, to no avail), but they'd just opened up a new counter so we snuck in to that and were escorted by the officer to secondary. A woman took our papers, told us to dump our carry-on and told us to sit. I think that was the most frustrating part. There were officers there wandering in and out, and she was unwrapping our MBE's in between receiving others rather than just hand it off to someone else. It was horrible watching her. She'd start to open one of ours ... process someone else in to secondary, open their packet, go back to ... no, someone else at the desk ... ranting33va.gif After about an hour and a half, she finally came and took my fingerprint. 20 minutes later, she did my oldest ... 15 minutes later, the youngest ... then she told us to wait ... again. LOL. In the meantime, other officers were wandering off, two and three at a time. girlwerewolf2xn.gif

Eventually, an officer I hadn't seen before (and I was watching them all like hawks) came in, picked up one of our packets and wandered off. 10 minutes later, he came back, handed me my passport, said "There's 2 more, yes?" and disappeared again without waiting for an answer. It was only a few minutes (although it felt like a lifetime!) before he came back and handed me the boys passports, ran through the line about going through the residents/citizens line in future and how the stamp was proof of our residence until we got our green cards, and waved us on our merry way. We weren't asked any questions nor taken in for an interview.

Our bags had been set aside for us so our only issue after that was the customs guy that threatened to close down the airport because I had 6 jars of marmite in my suitcase. I can laugh at it now, but at the time I was far too stressed.

After I finally caught up with Jeremy outside, I discovered that the official that had finally stamped our passports had been pulled aside by him. He'd seen him wandering through and asked him about secondary inspection, telling him we'd been in there for more than 2 hours already and he was really worried. The officer told him it could still take a while, but obviously came straight through and dealt with us. He was a very unusual looking man, so there's no doubt it was him. If I bumped in to him today, I'd undoubtedly give him a big sloppy kiss. LOL.

Anyway ... hope everything is going well for the rest of you. I'm thinking about you all and sending very positive thoughts your way! smile.gif

As I mentioned before, NZ isn't as critical with the I-134 as the US is with the I-864 done at AOS.

I'm really not sure how they handle it when you do not meet the income guidelines. I do know that if you explain the situation to them, they will tell you what you need.

Yes, child support can be counted toward income if it's ordered by the court. I don't know about ss income, you will need to contact Auckland Embassy and find out what more they will need from you.

Sorry i've not been around. We got over 2 feet of snow this weekend and also did Christmas with one half of my family. It's been a mad rush of shovelling, shopping and now...freezing! laughing.gif

cdneh, i'm pulling for you girl! Hopefully you hear some good news soon!

Kim, I think you got the advice and links you were looking for. smile.gif

In regards to working... if you do a VJ search you will find loads of discussion with lots of opinions. It seems the law is interpreted very differently depending on who you talk to. I think that what it comes down to is that you are really not allowed to work without authorization from the department of homeland security (EAD). Just coming in on a K-1 and marrying does not allow you to work... it enables you to apply for authorization to work.

cdneh, i'm sorry you're still waiting hon. I wish there was something that could be done to get it to the Embassy for you.

Nice to see you moving along Michelle. smile.gif

We've had pretty severe weather around here lately. Lots of ice, power outages, trees and limbs down everywhere. We're pretty used to the snow but this is the worst ice storm i've ever seen. People have been without power and heat for a week now. The kids have been out of school all week as well. Normally they're barely out a day even with a foot of snow on the ground. There are two more large storms coming through this weekend! ...and sometime in there we have to take care of Christmas! laughing.gif

Well, it can always be worse. wink.gif But just in case I don't get back in here I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Be happy...wherever you are right now. wink.gif ..and stay safe.

I'm not hoping for Christmas now.

If they had sent the thing out in the same time frame as anyone else's there might have been a chance. Everything we need is ready, all the paperwork is in a stack labeled and ready to go.

I sent the AKL embassy a scan of the noa2 and they did send out the packet 3 in the end. I had the medical last week. I've sent the intial papers back to the embassy here. All that remains is for them to send the case on. They still have it.

It's an exercise in futility, but we can't help wondering why.

That's good that the embassy sent out packet 3. How did you get on at the medical? You have everything ready now.. just waiting on the darn nvc to get their act together!!

I had another question for people. Was wondering if I did got to NZ until my so can come back to the states if it'd be a problem form wise. Like after the noa2 will i need to fill out any more forms?

Lisa, as long as your paperwork is in order and that fiancially it doesn't affect your affidavit there is no reason you can't be in NZ. *insert envy here* laughing.gif

no idea where to get vegemite *shiver* laughing.gif

i'm sorry sweetheart. Like I said, believe nothing they tell you.

I know it's hard to get in a festive mood with all of this hanging in limbo. Unfortunately, we too spent many a Christmas like that. sad.gif Just try to keep focusing on the fact that, even tho it feels no closer, it really wont be much longer now.

Thanks Kim. rose.gif

Just want to say that once the embassy does receive it, everything is going to go extremely FAST! (And as you have everything ready) You could have visa within just a few weeks after embassy contacts you. The docs (for the medical) seems to get you in pretty quick for that. And you would be sending all the forms off to embassy el pronto, with the form that says you have everything ready for interview!! so it will be All Systems Go!!!!! good.gif

At this point I'd like to know they at least have the case.

Even if they found it tomorrow and sent it on at once, we won't be getting anywhere now until next year. We were hoping, had things progresssed as promptly as your case, to spend the holidays together.

Thanks all who have tired to cheer me up...maybe we will hear something by way of better news the week coming. I sure could use a little good news today....

....oh my good goodness..now I'm quoting country and western lyrics...the madness takes it's toll...

hey all, question.... ok i send the I34 to my fiance in nz and if i have a sponser is that the I186..lol.. or I186A ....ort he I186EZ....idk ....
could someone help me? thats alot

If you need a co-sponsor for the 1-134 then they have to also fill out a separate 1-134 form too. The same criteria applies to them with pay stubs, tax transcript etc. When i emailed the embassy here in Auckland a while ago about co -sponsors they said "Yes, you can provide a co-sponsor, showing current income, last year's tax return, and ID (ppt or b/cert)"

When your fiance moves to usa, then you will have to fill out another affidavit of support. That one will be the 1-864 star_smile.gif

joint sponsors have to be living in the same house as the petitioner from what i can see, but joint is def easier, and yes their income gets added onto the I-864 of our fiance's and the joint sponsor completes the I-864A biggrin.gif

oh good one! we will definitely do that then! Have you heard anything from nvc yet? any word of your package arriving at consulate in Auckland?

nope not a word, i figure xmas has slowed everything down sad.gif

however i can't actually leave here til my house sells, hopefully that will be soon smile.gif

yes the embassy here is pretty fast with getting everything sent out, so the xmas holidays have definitely slowed things down. I hope you find a buyer for your house very soon!! good.gif
