Congratulations!

...and I dont know what MILO is, but my girl was horrified to find that they dont sell her V (energy drink) here in the USA.

Its like hot chocolate but yummier! made of extracts of malted barley and has cocoa in it. I am drinking some hot milo right
now!! biggrin.gif

I don't like drinking milk on its own but milo stirred in cold milk is delicimo! and it doesn't all dissolve properly and you have little crunchy bits on top of the cold milk! star_smile.gif

wow! Am surprised that they don't sell V over there. I always thought it was sold worldwide.

Hey guys

wondering if i can get some help, thought i might start getting things ready for "that" interview.

i've been reading the guides but i'm still a bit confused (easily done heh)

i've copied the following from the guides

What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):
1. A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one).

why do we need the entire package? do we actually need it for the interview, i was the one who prepared all the forms and sent them to my fiance (he's the usc) i didn't take copies of the package as there were things that my fiance had that needed to be added.

2. Send all originals of the documentary proof that you submitted for the I-129F to your fiance(e) for their interview at the embassy.

do they want him to send me his birth certificate? not a copy but the original?

any help would be greatly appreciated smile.gif

you know i read over and over the guidelines etc and *think* i know it all, when in fact i know very little lol!! unsure.gif

That is a very good question about the 'entire 1-129f package'. I just assumed that we took it along to the interview with us incase they wanted to see everything again. But now that you have mentioned it, i am like.. why would they if they have all the stuff from the package that we originally sent to uscis??

Like you, i too assembled most of the stuff for the 1-129f package and then we did it together when i was over there this year. I am just better at getting things organised than he is at this kind of thing lol! (which doesn't say much when you see me asking all kinds of lame q's on vj about the process! laughing.gif )

I was under the impression that they have to send us their original birth certificate. Which i am not too thrilled about as the postal system is a bit dodgy at times from both here and there and i HATE the thought of his birth certificate going 'missing' in the post.

hopefully, others here who have been through the interview will enlighten us! star_smile.gif

I'd love to see that biggrin.gif

We are calling NVC later this morning, so see if they have it good.gif

When you get the NVC case number from them, will you go ahead and go for your medical? If so, where will you get the forms that you have to give to doc etc if you do it before you hear from embassy?

We haven't contacted NVC yet, but i have been looking on dhl and last thursday quite a lot went out but none to NZ crying.gif

Also, on an older review of the embassy info, it said that one needs to get 11 passport photos done (3xmedical, 4 to be sent with packet three and 4 to be taken to interview) but on the recent update, it says 6 photos are needed (2x medical and 4 for packet 3 and if any more are needed it can be done at embassy). so what is the correct number of photos needed?

sorry for all the q's..... unsure.gif

We called NVC today and they gave us the new case number, so I am going to go ahead and email the embassy tonight and see if we can get the ball rolling a bit. The chap said he expected it to go out to AKL on Monday next.

Does anyone...Kim..know how to track shipments to AKL with DHL? I had a search but it brought up a lot of things I wasn't expecting blink.gif

I believe the number of photos needed is 6.

Our other Kim (Kim and Chris) is almost ready to fly out?!

I think the forms are online...Kim will know for sure if she sees this and let us know.

Saturday morning here. start of another day waiting for the approval and i am starting to freak out here. I have got conflicting advice about prior marriage certificates etc and really need some kind of clarification from you guys!

Do you have to show prior marriage certificates at the interview or any other time during the process?? I only have a divorce decree. I am pretty sure that when i got divorced, the marriage certificate had to be sent in, thus do not have it now. (it was years ago now so my memory is a little rusty)

some say i don't need it and some say i do. I am just so confused wacko.gif

And if i do have to have it, where do i go to get one? would they even still have it on record?
I just think that i am sitting pretty with all the evidence i will need for the interview and then a curveball is thrown and i go into panic mode.
hope you guys can help me answer this question please????

Item 13 of the I-129f checklist on VJ says basically that if you're using a different name other than what's shown on the relevant documents (birth cert), then you must supply a copy of the legal document that made the change - marriage cert, adoption decree or court order.

I'm still using my married name even though i was divorced some time ago, so I had to provide a copy of my marriage cert.
Even though I had a copy of my I-129f with me, they never asked for the cert at the interview.

If you feel you need to have a copy of it, you just request it from Births, Deaths and Marriages like you would a birth cert, provided you were married in NZ I guess. They look up the records and then just type you up a certificate. Can't remember how much it is, around $20 - $25 I think

I've got so much sorting of stuff to do, I really don't know where to start. I've been at it for the last few weeks on and off but just don't seem to be making much headway. 28 years of accumulated "stuff" dead.gif
I've only got 13 more days till I leave so I really have to crank it up a gear or two....lol wacko.gif

It's a double edged sword........hard to leave your family, but when you've found "The One" ......you just have to go. yes.gif

This time, two weeks from now I will have been back in the U.S. with Chris for about 5 hours heart.gif kicking.gif

Ok....I'm saying this now coz I've just been through it, and if I leave it any longer the grey cells containing this info are likely to have disappeared....lol wacko.gif

When I was there in April and we put the I-129f package together, I made 3 copies, one to send in, one for Chris and one for me to bring home for the interview.

The one i brought home had originals of evidence of having met like the baseball tickets to the San Francisco Giants game we went to, hotel bills, hire car rental, and tickets for other things we did etc. It only had a copy of Chris' birth cert etc, the originals stayed with him.

It also didn't have every single thing in it that I sent off to Vermont, I didn't bother copying all the emails and other evidence of relationship coz I had those on my computer. Besides, when you go for your interview you'll need to gather new evidence that your relationship is still ongoing from the time you sent in the I-129f till the interview date.

The people at the consulate didn't ask to see it, but the blonde girl who took the interview asked if I had any photo's of us together and I managed to whip out the picks I had in the I-129f, so you really do need to take everything just in case. But I felt if I hadn't had them it wouldn't have been held against me. no0pb.gif

Hope this helps......feel free to ask any other questions you like before the grey cells take a dive.....lol headbonk.gif

When we went to our interview we had our copy of the packets and an extra copy of the packet in case anything was lost by USCIS. We felt better safe than sorry. Nothing worse than showing up at the interview and having them tell you you need more information. We had original birth certificates, all old passports which we needed as well as pictures/copies of pictures, copies of bills, bak statments. We were way overprepaired but the lady saw that and was pleased. So I guess what I am saying is if you have the time get the copies.

Hi ivanna, your fiance's visit on the VWP will have no effect on him getting a visa ...unless he overstayed his 90 day limit, that is. wink.gif

My now husband basically lived here in the U.S. for over a year using the VWP (leaving for a weekend every 90 days). I would not recommend this avenue... laughing.gif

I would recommend you read through this entire thread and prepare yourself best you can for the next steps. I know it all looks daunting right now but you'll get there. smile.gif

kiwiana- Yay!!! That's great news!! kicking.gif Seems to me the Consulate here gets all the paperwork out pretty quick once they receive the documents from the US. You should be able to schedule your medical check before Christmas I would think!

cdneh- I'll be sending good energy that you hear something soon! heart.gif Their website is so frustrating, it never was accurate with when our case was touched and NOAs were issued. We got documentation in the mail before we got email notification, and considering they were sending everything to NZ (since I'm here instead of in the US) that's really bad. Not to mention the two sets of notifications we were sent with different approval dates... whistling.gif

Hi everyone

We Just got back from Auckland today. We drove 5 hours to get to Auckland and once we got to our hotel we realized nobody grabbed the folder of documents!! I thought she grabbed it and she thought I grabbed it, so after 3 hours of ringing around and trying to get a courier to bring it to us by 9am, we never found one that could guarantee it's arrival by 9am. Then we rang Napier airport and they said we could put the folder on a plane for $110 and we will receive it in an hour, so we did that and picked it up at the airport.

Next day we had our interview at 9:30am, we arrived at 9am and waited about 30 mintues until there was someone at the window, first we gave all our documents to the nice lady at window 3 after we had given her everything she said it looked very good for us to be approved. So after waiting about 45 minutes we were called to window 5 for our interview by Nicholas. He was very nice and made us not so nervous by telling some jokes. He asked us a couple easy questions like what we plan to do when we get there and what city we are gonna live in and with who, after some more jokes he said that we were approved and explained what we would need to do at poe, and that was it, altogether the whole process took about 2 hours but about 1:15 of that time was waiting.

When we arrived home today we saw the courier packet was already delivered to us, we weren't home so we are picking it up tomorrow.

We are leaving for Colorado December 5th so we got 3 weeks to get the rest of our stuff sold, which is quite a bit of stuff.

Ooops sorry I missed your post earlier Kim.

Firstly, welcome to the States! smile.gif

You don't need to worry about where your paperwork will go for AOS. All AOS petitions are mailed to the Chicago lockbox and then distributed from there. So no worries for you.

Your uscis office is located closest to the US residence listed on the forms. Ours is Boston. Very often K-1 visa holders are approved for AOS without interview anyway. wink.gif

You guys are sweet. Thanks for the kind words. I'm really just paying it forward. wink.gif

cdneh, I would NOT take anything any phone operator having anything to do with uscis/dos, or any gov't agency for that matter, told me to heart. I think what they were attempting to tell you (and failing miserably at) is that they can't tell you where your case is and/or why it is held up. They have no way of telling you anything because they do not know anything. All they know is when it arrived there and when it leaves to be shipped....that's all she told me was in her system. In order for someone to tell me that we were AP I had to call a bunch of times and ask them to look deeper into it. They didn't know where our case was either. As mentioned, I also got two letters (different dates) stating it would be sent within a week.... two weeks later..it was finally sent.

I think that not everyone at the Embassy is as accomodating as others. wink.gif Keep in mind we were contacting them a full year before Russell's interview just to be sure we had everything right so they knew very well who we were and that we were coming.

Yes, Russell saw Dr. Stone. I thought he was in Auckland city itself. My bad. whistling.gif

Lisa, visiting NZ will have no bearing on your case. If anything, it will only add to the proof of a bona-fide relationship. Even though Russell's family owns loads of property and always had places for us to stay, we looked at some homes to rent on the coast while we were there as well. They were a lot cheaper than they are here! I think next time we'll rent an RV and just travel all over so I can see more of the Country. That was real cheap! Have a wonderful time. I miss it already. sad.gif

Ana, I don't think the doctor would want your WAC #... that is from the uscis and not DOS. The AUKXXXXXX number or the A# is the one the doc took, I think. I wouldn't worry about the Embassy matching your medical to your file. I will pass on your thanks to Russell. He is quite a walker so i'm sure it was just his perception of the trek!

Kel, happy birthday to your son!!!! I have a 16 year old daughter that I barely see ...and I live with her! laughing.gif I'm sure your relationship is only going to grow stronger now. I think our experience with long distant communication certainly taught us how important the written word and sustaining a healthy relationship really is. Ahhh the holidays in Hawaii! I bet it's much warmer than New England! laughing.gif

ana... Russell had his medical in Auckland with Dr. Stone not in Remuera. Different place, no? Sorry you hurt your tootsies. sad.gif Glad everything seemed to go ok so far. Don't know what to say about the TB shot. The panel physicians don't seem to be on the same page as the uscis yet but they are hassling those who didn't get it now so who knows. This process... grrrrrrrrrr!

Your A# is your alien #. You were assigned one the first time you dealt with US Immigration and it will be listed on your NOA2.

cdneh... i'm sorry sweetie. We know just how you feel! We weren't told immediately that we were in AP either and we received two different letters stating it would be sent ...never did get the one that said it was. wink.gif All those packages we saw leave for NZ, I called every time only to be dissapointed. The petition is not lost... nvc just has no way of telling you why it was held up. The good news is that in all the research i've done and people i've asked, the security checks done at NVC don't seem to hold you up too long. We were only there for three weeks...still no clue why. There is nothing at all on either of our records... no common names... no idea. I know it's difficult but get everything settled that you can now, including your medical. When it finally does arrive they will be all ready to schedule your interview. Russell was actually interviewed before others who were actually approved before us because of our stubborness and effeciency. wink.gif You're almost there hon. Soon....none of this bs will matter.

yeah there is some paperwork that comes with p3 and the Embassy did tell russell he'd need it but when he called the doctors they said it was all good...then when he got to the doc's office he found that they had the same forms and they wanted him to fill out theirs anyway. Not only that, but once you fill in all the info, the doc puts it into the computer and throws it out. laughing.gif You may want to check with others who have been through the process with the same doc to be 100% clear tho as this is just coming 3rd person... I wasn't there.

Yes, the co-sponsor is suppose to be able to meet the income requirements alone.

Read this for more info on co-sponsors.

As stated previously, there are no laws binding the co-sponsor with the I-134 which is why NZ isn't as concerned with it as some other Consulates are. It is the I-184 (at AOS) that is legally binding. Maybe explaining this to your co-sponsor would help them?

In your case, I would contact the Embassy directly, explain your situation and ask them what it is they'll require from you to get this sorted.

cdneh.. the Embassy told Russell to wait for his medical too. He did not. smile.gif

Your computer (cuz that's what I really do wink.gif ) ..sounds like you have malware. If you want/need some help with that just PM me and I will send you a list of resources to try and clean it up. This is difficult enough without having no means of computer!

Nice to hear from you Gnomegirl.

Still crossing my fingers for those of you waiting.

Justine, if you're out there...we'd love to know how you're doing!

cdneh... i'm sorry that one wasn't yours. Not sure what you're doing wrong with DHL.. are you 'searching by reference' and putting a date range? Weird. So, did they tell you that you were stuck in AP??? We were only there for three weeks and when I researched AP at NVC I didn't find anyone who was there much longer than that. You do know you can get your medical done with your A#??? Not that you'd be in any rush but we were anxious to get it out of the way. whistling.gif

Well...it wasn't us for sure... we've rung NVC and they still have it there.

So..now we are waiting in an entirely different queue yes.gif

yep the package was mine! star_smile.gif I received a letter from the embassy today. I made an appointment for medical on Thursday and I got some passport photos done today too.

Now I have some q's:
Do i have to put my name or anything on the back of all the photos i have to submit?

I dont think Russell put his name but I doubt there'd be any harm in doing so.

Can i just send in the forms that they want sent in now and then send in the statement form that says i have everything ready for an interview later or do i have to send in the appointment/statement form saying i have everything ready WITH the first lot of forms you have to send to them?

I ask this because my fiance doesn't have his tax transcript yet and i need a little more time. But wanted to just send in the forms i have to send in first, then wait.... and then send in the form saying that i have everything ready for the interview.

They don't ask for the tax transcripts and other supporting evidence for the I-134 until the interview do they? They probably just want to be sure you have them before they schedule the interview. If you know they're coming soon you can send everything back that they request to make the interview.

Plus if i am having the medical on thursday, i wanted to send in something, so that they can pair the medical up with something of mine star_smile.gif

They will know exactly where to put your medical info from the doctor. They didn't even have Russell's approved petition at the Embassy at the time the doctor sent everything over. Apparently they receive electronic confirmation before they receive the I-797 from NVC.

After you do send in the form saying that you have everything ready for interview, how long do you wait generally for the interview? Do they give it a few weeks ahead of time or is it sooner or later? (just like to get an idea of how much time they give you)

They knew all along that we wanted an interview asap so it was only days after they got it that Russell had his interview. I think if you request a certain time they do their best to accomodate you. It seems to be about 3-4 weeks routinely for K-1's.

cdneh: I was hoping that your package may have been mailed out with mine... Hopefully, they will send it out this week.Fingers crossed it will be tomorrow!! smile.gif

You can use your child support as income if it is written into your agreement (court ordered).

The I-134 has no specific standards. Most Embassy's use the guidelines set by the I-864 ..which is the affidavit of support filed at AOS, after your fiance is here and you are married. At this stage (AOS) you WILL need to prove you can financially support but for the K-1 interview, however, the Embassy in NZ cares little about the financial support you can offer right now.... and more about the beneficiaries work history and desire to earn his/her own living once in the States. It was requested that Russell submit his CV/Resume at the interview. Supply all documents that are requested I-134, employer letter/paystubs, proof of child support and any other income....etc.

Regarding the specific contributions question.... there are example forms here on VJ to help you fill out all your paperwork and that is what I used to fill everything out. There has since been some dispute at the London Embassy with this question.... but in NZ the answer was still 'no'.

Our first Thanksgiving actually spent together! It was lovely to just spend time with those we love...and some quiet time as well. Perfect. We have enough food to feed us for a week. smile.gif

Russell cooked Thanksgiving meal for his family in NZ last year... very sweet.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you as well...

i'm sorry sweetheart. Like I said, believe nothing they tell you.

I know it's hard to get in a festive mood with all of this hanging in limbo. Unfortunately, we too spent many a Christmas like that. sad.gif Just try to keep focusing on the fact that, even tho it feels no closer, it really wont be much longer now.

Thanks Kim. rose.gif

Thanks Kim. rose.gif

We won't be ringing them again, it's too confusing. Every one you speak to has a different story. He rang last night and was told they don't know if it's there or not, they are unable to locate it at all in the system, and anyway, cases never go out in less than a month. I know that is patently untrue.

Our bits and bobs are ready if it arrives here. I'm not sure what we will do if it doesn't turn up.

Today I have to slap on a happy face and spend the day up at Amanasco House, it is Santa parade day in the Bay. The elderly flatmate is with the local Historical Society and I have been drafted for the day.

I can't say I can remember a time in all my years I have ever felt less like Christmas.

I am trying not to let it get to me Kim, but failing quite miserably.

She told him when he asked that she could not locate the case, that she could not tell him where it is. I don't know how this happens, how you misplace a thing like that.

I won't do the medical until I hear. They refused to send me packet three when I emailed them the new case number, although they have done so in the past, so perhaps they knew, as we did not, that we were delayed, and why. I don't want a medical report turning up there with no case to attach it to given the circumstances.

Once they get back to me I'll go to Remmers...it's easier. Is this the same Dr Stone as Russ? It's from the Embassy info page...
